This was my first time dining at Maialina, and I've passed it countless times without realizing where the entrance was! After finding the side door, we were seated pretty quickly, and the server came over to take our drink order within five minutes. While he was pleasant enough, his service didn't really stand out--nothing to rave about, but no complaints either.
We ordered his suggestion of a Cabernet Sauvignon, which was priced around $80. We also tried a few appetizers: artichokes, fig and sausage flatbread, and a basic Italian salad. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but the salad came out long after the other dishes and was missing the salami. I had to wait a bit before the server noticed and brought it over, but by then, the salad had already lost some of its appeal.
The fig and sausage flatbread was a standout--really flavorful and enjoyable. The artichokes were good too, but the salad... well, it was a disappointment. The taste was subpar, and for the price, it certainly wasn't worth it. I wouldn't order it again, especially since it didn't even come out correctly in the first place.
All in all, Maialina has some great menu items, but there are definitely some kinks in the service and execution. The delayed salad and underwhelming quality left me a bit disappointed. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd probably skip the salad next time.
