Here Are the Hottest New Restaurants in the East Bay, June 2024

"East Bay dwellers looking for a French treat on this side of the bridge can now head to Danville bakery Maison Benoit, which opened in early January. The space is led by a head baker from Paris and a pastry chef from Bordeaux, so expect expertly-made croissants, pain Suisse, caneles, tarts, and more. The lineup also includes baguettes, sandwiches, and quiches, which go nicely with a cup of coffee." - Dianne de Guzman

The Best Bakeries in the East Bay | Eater SF

"Maison Benoit made a splash in Danville for its French bakery offerings, courtesy of a head baker and pastry chef who both hail from France. The baguettes are a favorite, but so are the sweet offerings, such as an almond pain au chocolat — yes, you read that correctly — and slices of mille-feuille. Maison Benoit is also the place to get traditional French cakes, such as a whole Paris-Brest or Saint Honore, perfect for spoiling someone on a special occasion." - Dianne de Guzman

Best croissant I've ever had! I like how it's so flaky and crispy on the outside but also not too hard. The inside has the similar feeling of asian milk toast but airy-er so I really really like it. The flan is a little lackluster though... it's too sweet and the pastry condensed underneath and hard to cut through... The service was meh but I forgive them since the croissant is so good 👍

Google
I gave them 3 stars because normally they’re a 5….but this visit is a 1. We drive 70 miles and wait in long lines to come get their chocolate croissants and pain suisse, often. Yesterday I picked up 2 chocolate croissants and 4 pain suisse and every single one of them was dry and not buttery at all. In fact they were the worst croissants I’ve ever had. I’ve purchased many and have had them a day or two after and they’ve always been excellent. I ate these the same day of purchase and it’s as if they were a week old. I really hope that they’ll be better next time.

Google
Wasn’t that impressed with the croissants. The ones from Arsicault Bakery in San Francisco are much lighter, flakier, and delicate. While I was disappointed, the food was still very good. It just didn't live up to the hype that I had been hearing about it. We ordered a bunch of different pastries and sandwiches and nothing was bad but after reading the reviews and coming out this way just to try it, I was disappointed. Even the sandwiches weren’t warmed up so overall I was disappointed. Once again, don't get me wrong, none of the food was bad. In fact, comparing it to the average cafe this is very good, but from all the accolades and write up, my experience didn’t meet my expectations and I wouldn’t make a trip just for the croissants. Initially I only gave it 3 stars, but after thinking about it, that wasn't very fair because the food is still very good and better than your average cafe experience. If you're in thee area, its definitely worth a try.

Google
Hands down the best croissant I’ve had in ages - impossibly flaky layers, buttery perfection in every bite. The canelé was caramelized and custardy inside, and the baguette? Crisp, chewy, and full of flavor - was not ‘rock hard’ like other places. Truly worth going out of your way for!

This morning my wife and I drove from Lafayette to buy an assortment of breads and pastries for a Sunday brunch. Everything was delicious as usual EXCEPT my favorite item The smoked salmon tartine. The salmon tasted OLD and fishy. Definitely Not what I have experienced in the many times I’ve had before. I suggest the manager investigate this today as it was most unusual!!

Looking for an afternoon pick me up, we stumbled upon this fine bakery located in the heart of Danville. They have a variety of bakery options on display as soon as you walk-in. I had the "pain suisse" (fresh and tasty French croissant style pastrywith cream and chocolate chips). We had a cappuccino and a cortado. Both were expertly prepared. The indoor dining area was like walking into someone's house. Well placed couches and tables made it feel very cozy and inviting. Would highly recommend this bakery for anyone in the area.

Google
This place recently won Best Croissant in San Francisco, and after visiting a few times, I can see why. The croissants are excellent, and they offer a wide variety of pastry options. Even when there’s a line, it usually moves pretty fast. My son loved their vegetarian quiche, and I really enjoyed it as well. They have a good selection of vegetarian options and are fairly kid-friendly in terms of food choices. I wouldn’t recommend dining in if you have very young kids, but aside from that, it’s a great place and definitely worth a visit.

Google
Super delicious and soft pastries, a huge variety as well. We ordered multiple sweet and savory and they were all amazing! Coffee was good as well. Line was very long when we arrived but went by extremely fast.

Yelp
This is a review of cost. While the product generally looks good and most times seems reasonably fresh they lost me today with the price increase. The Mille Feuille went from $9.00 each ( I already thought that was high ), to $10.00 each today. While I can afford it, I just don't feel there is enough value for my 10 bucks.

Shannon T.

Yelp
Pastries look incredible. Friendly costumer service. Coffee - that's another thing. They didn't wash out the milk pitcher between drinks and just kept refilling it with milk.

Yelp
I was here last year and had a slice of Galette Des Rois. It was delightful and delicious! I didn't know it was seasonal!!! Well, here I am. I ordered a 6-person cake before Christmas and picked it up today. I. Am. Prepared. I can't wait to eat a slice!!! To tide me over, I bought an éclair chocolat and a Paris Brest for the family to share. Because my New Year's resolution is to enjoy life! I live to eat!! The service here has always been great! There's usually a line but patience is a virtue. They have a system and if you follow along, you'll be out of there quickly. I try to pronounce the name of the pastries in French but if it gets butchered, it's all good. The staff can probably guess what you want. If there is a line, there might not be a place to sit. They have indoor and outdoor tables. Everything here is amazing! They have savory bites as well. The baguettes and loaves of bread are fantastic! The owner is French and his bakers are French who are trained in France. The butter and cheeses are imported from France. So you're practically French when you walk in the door! Can't say enough good things about Maison Benoit.

Yelp
Maison Benoit in Danville is my go to spot for cakes and pastries in the area! I've brought their St. Honoré cake to three different holiday parties, and every single time it was a showstopper. Beautiful, classic, not overly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Fair warning: mornings can be a bit chaotic, especially during busy seasons. That said, it is 100% worth the chaos. Pro tip: pre-order online and save yourself the wait! If you're looking for an elegant, crowd-pleasing cake or high quality French pastries, Maison Benoit delivers every time.

Yelp
Kouign Amann: Flaky, but a tad tough and dry, needs more flavor. Pain aux Raisins: A bit anemic, needs more flavor. Canele: Dry, no carmelized taste, no custard. Needs more flavor. Spinach and Feta Quiche: Flat, not fluffy or silky. Waited for it to come to the table for a like warm bite. Matcha Latte: Barely any matcha and was lukewarm. Needs more matcha and flavor. Great spot for Danville, pastries look great, but disappointing overall. I expected more deliciousness and decadence or some wow factor. The name was captivating. Very average.

Yelp
This place always has a line but I think it is worth the wait. The layers of croissant are so flaky melt in your mouth delicious. I really like the cheese and potato bun with bacon for breakfast and their baguettes are the perfect crispy outside and soft center. I had to take off a star because I have come here twice and both times they forgot my almond croissant! I got home and it was not in there. Not sure why but it was the same pastry both times.

Yelp
We stopped by on a drizzly late morning and the line was out the door. It was our first time. It moved quickly though. We ordered the pain au chocolat, almond pain au chocolat, and smoked salmon tartine. I really enjoyed the buttery, well laminated layers of the chocolate croissant. The almond chocolate one was flat with crispy edges which my wife also enjoyed. The smoked salmon tartine needed to be heated which I think they do upon request, but we didn't realize that until after we left. It would have been nice if staff offered it. It was a nice although busy bakery and I would definitely go again.

Yelp
I am a huge pastry person so I had to give their croissant a try since it was voted SF 2025 Best Croissant winner. I got to say, it is definitely one of the best croissants I have had. It's perfectly golden-brown flaky exterior with a light, airy honeycomb interior of decadent layers. It was delicious. Only reason for not giing 5 stars is the service was not as warm/welcoming as I would have hoped and was a bit disorganized. I ordered the homemade chai which was good but a bit lukewarm and took a while to be made. I will definitely give it another shot and come back to try more pastry options but hope they can expand on their savory options For pastries.

Yelp
Amazing service, ambience, and food! The best croissants I've had in the east bay. Up there with Arsicault in SF. Service is extremely friendly, personable, and ensure that you are taken care of. The salted maple latte is amazing. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Came back here recently with the parents to grab some ham and butter sandwiches, croissants, salmon quiche, and a Matcha latte. This place is always pretty lively and crowded. Of the times I've been there's always been a line. But the folks behind the counter are very friendly and efficient. The line was pretty fast. Another great visit. One of my parents' favorite places.

Yelp
I consider myself a croissant conesseur so when my friend told me about this place I knew I had to try it. At first when she said the location I'm like " there's no way I'm going there, too far " as someone from the Bay Area. However when we booked our weekend getaway to Napa, she recommended stopping here on the way and provide I HAD to try it! I mean when a place wind best croissant in 2025, hell yeah I am going to try that!!! So that's what I did. She recommended ordering online which I did. It was super simple, ordered online as s breeze. When we finally arrived it was nestled in a quaint little town. I've never been to Danville before so didn't know what to expect. The pâtisserie is pretty big with plenty of tables outside and inside to sit. Parking was also easy to find right next door. I went up to the counter and said I'm here to pick up. They brought me to the other side and then gave me the order. I asked to have it warmed up which was fine. I also ordered a coffee to try which was decent enough. I ordered the classic pain au chocolat, regular croissant and a pomme de tarte. Biting into the croissant you can tell it was VERY buttery. It was flaky and it melted in your mouth. We all loved them! I wouldn't make a special trip just for coming here. The service seemed a bit disorganized and all over the place. Apparently the croissants were not filling enough so I ordered a salmon toast too. They don't have a lot of savory options. I saw ham and cheese croissant (sold out), salmon croissant and avocado toast, croque monsieur (very cheesy). Unfortunately they brought me the wrong order of the avocado toast. That one really didn't look appetizing so I'm glad when I said that it was the wrong thing as I ordered the salmon they quickly brought me the right plates. Also I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and they gave him a post it with a. " happy birthday " written on it. I mean sure, it's nice but really? You could have given u a complimentary dessert or something else a bit more memorable!! So all in all, the bakery is nice and if I was in the area I'd stop by. I wouldn't make a special trip just to visit it though. It's missing the warm French charm. The pastries seem like a bit hit here and pretty authentic, although I didn't get to try them. I would stop here just to try the croissants! however I'd also try the pastries too as they seem to be in their wheelhouse. They are pretty limited in savory items, and they aren't that filling by themselves. The ambiance is nice too, just don't have to many high expectations for the service.

Yelp
This place is as pretty close to the real deal that you are going to get. The line was out the door at 2pm. When I walked in I was amazed of the display of all the yummy pastries! I ordered the chocolate croissant which was perfectly flakey and chocolate inside. I would have liked the flakey-ness to go all the way through and a little more chocolate, but it was still great The Carmel cookie that my daughter had was beyond amazing! Chocolate chip toped with dollops of salted Carmel. Hard to finish alone but so good!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The hype is real. Maison Benoit has the best pastries and quiches in the area. The lines are always long so be prepared but they do move fast. Finding a table can take some time too, so have someone in your party keep a sharp eye out as you queue up to place your order. My eyes definitely ate more than my belly, it was really hard to make a choice amongst all the delicious looking pastries. They all look like little pieces of art. My fav was the pistachio pastry followed by pain au chocolate. The quiche was one of the best I have had in a very long time, good coffee too. I wasn't too impressed with the foccacia though, maybe just got the wrong thing for myself. I shall be back here again on a nice day, to feel like I am sitting on a Parisian street, enjoying my croissant and coffee.

Yelp
I heard that Maison Benoit won best croissants in the Bay Area and I am a croissant connoisseur, croissants are my favorites and have a high standard for croissant. I came on a Sunday Morning and the line may look long, but I was surprised on how fast they moved the line. I probably waited only 5 minutes until I was able to order. I ordered a plain croissant and a chocolate one, with a cappuccino. I received both pastries and found a window seat. The cappuccino was about a 10 minute wait. I would say I appreciate the patio seating outside of the cafe, this is exactly like Europe in terms of small tables for customers to chat over a cup of coffee and baked goods. Although they have large patio seating they were all taken so I sat inside. I would say though that it's really noisy inside. When I saw the appearance of the croissant, I was impressed when I took a bite. I was surprised on how light and airy the croissant is. This is a very good croissant. I would say my top 3 that I tried. I would say I never tried anything like this type of croissant. I drove 20 minutes out of my way and the trip was so worth it! Would highly recommend when coming to the bay to stop here for the experience!

Yelp
We loved the French Brest with hazelnuts. It tasted like candy with a crunchy layer. The chocolate bread was like air with two slender chocolate inside. We were so full after having this as our dessert after lunch at Daon nearby. Great pastries and lovely pastry boxes.
google avatar

Gene H.

Yelp
I've loved everything about the bakery since you opened from the vibes to the, baked goods and cakes! So why 3 stars? Increasing the baguette pricing from $4 to $4.50 and while making the loaves smaller seems a bit unfair to your loyal bread customers.

Yelp
Deux croissants, s'il vous plaît! As a genuine lover of all things Parisian and French, I couldn't wait to try Maison Benoit especially after they were crowned "Best Croissant" for 2025 in the Bay Area! My husband and I were enroute to Lake Tahoe and made a "very necessary" stop at the bakery. Not knowing how fast they sell out of their champion croissants, I ordered ahead online to ensure we got the goods. Once there, we were greeted with a very Parisian-style cafe, complete with lots of outdoor tables (just like in Paris) and a beautiful interior as well. All the details definitely added to the very French and classy ambiance, lots of French blue, wooden accents, and Parisian art. We decided to also order a cappuccino and a latte to enjoy with our croissants (plant-based milks available of course), et deux macarons aussi (and 2 macarons too) to take with us for the road. The coffees were bold, rich, and made to perfection. The macarons were not as light & airy as ones we love in Paris, they were thicker and had a chewier texture. Although they both had good flavor (we got pistachio & hazelnut), they were a little too sweet. Nevertheless we enjoyed everything we got and loved being transported back to Paris in spirit. Merci beaucoup, Maison Benoit!

Yelp
I was this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. I came on a Sunday and the place was packed. We went in life and they had a lot of options. I got an almond croissant and my husband got a regular croissant. My son chose a carrot cake and we got these cookie buffs. We also got a baguette. It was under $30 but these are some quality pastries. Highly recommend my almond croissant it's buttery but in a perfect way . This place is absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
We came on a Friday morning at about 9:30. Almond croissants were already sold out which was sad because that's what we all wanted to try! We ordered a variety of pastries and bread to try. Everything we had was SO good. There's a reason they won the San Francisco Croissant Competition! Service is friendly and fast! The interior is clean and somewhat spacious with plenty of outdoor seating. Would absolutely come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
After reading all about how Maison Benoit won the latest competition for SF's best croissant, I was stoked to try it! I wanted to ensure that I'd have the best chance at securing the notorious almond croissants that run out early, so I arrived around 7:30 AM on a Tuesday. As a result, they had everything in stock. I picked up an array of croissants including the regular, almond, chocolate almond, and chocolate. I also got the chocolate bread, coffee eclair, and a fruit tart. Honestly, the pastries were phenomenal. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's almost as if they add some type of "sugar MSG" that really makes them stand out (in the best way). They're all incredibly buttery, rich, and just pack such intense flavors that I didn't know were possible for pastries. Needless to say, I was impressed; especially with the almond croissants. I'd say the least impressive one I had was with their chocolate croissant, as there weren't that many chocolate chips inside and they were all congregated in one area so I thought I was just eating a regular croissant for the first half. I also ordered an iced latte with almond milk and wasn't expecting too much from it, but it came out really fast and was delicious! I definitely want to come back, try other pastries, grab more of the classics, and wind down at one of their tables either inside/outside with an iced coffee.

Yelp
The french artisanal shop is located right off the main road. It has an inviting atmosphere with a dreamy interior and patio doors that open to shaded outdoor seating. Here's our verdict: Service (5/5) - it has structured bakery service for both dine in and take out customers, quick with drinks and especially getting help from the sweet girl at the register. Chocolate Croissant (5/5)-flaky and flavorful Croissant (5/5)-my personal fave of the classic french pastry Mille-feuille (5/5)-the vanilla custard and puff pastry are to die for Hazelnut pastry (5/5)-heavenly with hazelnuts Would def recommend especially for a bite to eat in the morning.
google avatar

Kristel C.

Yelp
An effortlessly chic little French bakery with the most perfectly buttery, flaky croissants--golden, delicate, and indulgent without trying too hard. The creamy chai tea latte was smooth, cozy, and beautifully balanced. Charming, inviting, and very Parisian café energy.
google avatar

Rani S.

Yelp
We tried this spot on a Sunday afternoon as we were walking by -- the service was quick, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance felt like a cafe in Europe, especially sitting outdoors. We got a lemon loaf slice, the Parisian baguette, and the garlic bread. We also got vanilla lattes. Everything was delicious, especially the lattes. The baguette was a little hard to bite into, it would've been nice to have warmed up but regardless we still enjoyed it. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
I came on a weekday to purchase some bakery items and drinks. They have seating indoors and outdoors, which is nice. There was a small line of 6 people, including myself and a few employees working to fulfill orders and another making drinks. They had pastries on cooling racks but since the doors were open, there were many flies in the restaurant. I did end up picking up croissants, a lemon meringue tart, and a coco passion dessert after inspecting them and did not see any flies landing on said products. I ordered an iced soy chai and an iced soy matcha latte. Both had great flavor and were not too sweet. The croissants were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. While the pastries were good, the huge horse flies def made me less inclined to return.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably the softest and most buttery croissants I've ever had - it's super flakey so it can get pretty messy. The croissants are reasonable price but a few of the other items were pricey, I.e. ham and cheese croissants. We got a few things to share - the garlic bread was just ok, it was bit tough and not super garlicky, would have been nice if it had butter too. The ham and cheese ROLL was decent, the outer layer was a bit tough but the center was very moist and soft. The American pie was great, it's pretty much a fruit tart. The chocolate croissants were really good, again, flakey, buttery and soft. Will need to come back and try other pastries but from what I tasted, the star of the show were the croissants.
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
So sad because I left highly disappointed. I've been wanting to try their award winning croissants but unfortunately they were already sold out (around 11:15am) which I specifically came in for. Ended up getting the goat cheese and walnut roll, garlic bread, and pain au chocolat. They did not taste fresh like they've been sitting out for awhile. On top of that, service was not friendly. All the workers seemed like they did not want to be there. From the person who took my order down to the cashier. Not welcoming at all. I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
Great coffee and pastries in downtown Danville This place offer good croissants, coffee and the service was amazing. The line was long but move fast. I got the chocolate croissant since they ran out of the regular one. Not the best that I had but met the standard. My friend got the brioche chocolate which was good. They warmed up the pastries which was amazing Again, I'm impressed with the service and love the vibe here. Definitely the must visit in Danville downtown

Yelp
We came here after hearing about their victory at the SF Best Croissant competition. We've previously tried last year's winner Junipers and so were excited to try Maison Benoit. We had the Classic croissant, Parisian sandwich, a canele, apple tart, and the spinach quiche. The standouts were the croissant and the Parisian. The croissant was crispy and buttery without feeling heavy/greasy. The baguette for the Parisian was crunchy on the outside with a fantastic chew on the inside, one of the best Parisian sandwiches I have had in a long time. The price was also very reasonable as well. Service was a bit slow on a Tuesday morning. Big line despite it being a weekday, I can only imagine how much busier this place can be on the weekends. The hold up from what I can tell was at the ordering counter. I think the huge selection gives pause to just about everyone, so it takes some time to get orders in. The inside of the cafe was very cute and clean, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Street parking only so get there early. Highly recommend checking out Maison Benoit!

Yelp
Arrived on a Saturday morning at 10:30am and waited ~35 min. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating - extended menu of pastries, bread, sandwiches and drinks! Sadly only plain croissants available at the time. The plain croissant had nice layers and good flavor, i appreciated how all the pastries here are not overly buttery and greasy like most places. The texture is however not crunchy but soft and pillowy. The garlic bread was subpar, bread needed some toast and more flavor. The pecan cookie was delightful. The choquettes were eggy and nice even without filling - pairs well with coffee. The country loaf was nicely baked and had fluffy interior. Overall wouldn't quite go out of my way to come here but definitely still stop by if in the area!

Yelp
They just won the best SF croissant, but before you become silly and take extraordinary efforts to come, let me save you. Their croissants are softer, less hefty. While crispy, it is not earth-shatteringly so. When bitten into, it gives off fragile flakes rather than crunchy shards. It has way less flavor development than that from the tops players. There are plenty of croissants I love over these. But they are cheaply priced @$3.75. I usually love cream puffs, so I am surprised that I am not into their Marquise given the raves. The pastry cream is thicker and less flavorful than I am used to. The worst thing I had here was the $14 Ham and Cheese Croissant (warmed). Even if it is priced normally @$7, I would prefer most sandwiches and Banh Mi over this... and Arsicault's Ham and Cheese Croissant is way better at half-price. The best thing I had here was the Almond Pain au chocolat (Almond Chocolate Croissant). The almond paste is not too sweet, nice and ooey. But do I like it enough to come again? No. I much prefer B. Patisserie's crave-worthy Chocolate Banana Croissant. I like that one completely cooled when the chocolate re-solidifies, so you are biting into the crunch of chocolate against oozing banana. The staff here is a big high-school hangout. If you order anything complicated, don't expect much. Expect much wait.

Yelp
Oh boy, this place is busy. It's also a 30 minute drive from my place but I will have to say it was worth it. I'm on a mission to find the best chocolate croissants in the Bay Area and these are a top contender so far. At least it's way better than the ones I got from forma 2 weeks ago. I was afraid of things selling out so I placed an order the night before. The website is super easy to navigate. When I got there around 11am there was a big line out the door. I walked in and asked someone where I could pick up and they brought me to a register where a nice young man got me my prepacked boxes of croissants. I got home and warmed it up just a touch and yum - it's flakey and soft without feeling too bready, just the way I like them. The chocolate croissant has just enough chocolate without it being too messy or overtaking the rest of the pastry. Prices are also fairly reasonable. There's cute little seating everywhere. Will definitely make the drive to restock my croissant stash on a weekly basis.

Yelp
Let me tell you...it is as good as they say!!! Line was about 30 minutes wait. I felt I had to order a regular croissant to test how good it is. One of THE best croissants I've had. Perfect flake on the outside while moist on the inside. Slight sweetness from the butter. Sublime!!! I got to the front at 10:45am and they ran out of all the almond and almond chocolate croissants. So I got the regular and the chocolates for my boys. I also ordered the house made chai because I had to try. Didn't disappoint very spice forward, how I like it, and perfect sweetness.
google avatar

Sophia H.

Yelp
Ive never actually been inside, so I can't speak to the ambiance or service, but the pastries OMG bomb. I've tried the chocolate croissant, the chocolate & almond croissant, the almond croissant and apple pastry and each one delivered. The croissants are perfectly flaky and not overly sweet. My favorite is the chocolate & almond croissant. The almond paste is heavenly, and mixed with the chocolate it's superb. You honestly can't go wrong with anything here!

Yelp
Hands down the best croissants in town. Fresh, perfectly baked, and full of flavor. Once you try them, it's hard to go anywhere else.

Yelp
Today was my first visit at the bakery. I've been on the hunt for a good croissant. It's fairly difficult to find a good one! I think I went overboard but I wasn't feeling well so I ordered a bunch of things to take home. I ordered the following: 2 x Croissants 2 x Tuscan Soups with Garlic Bread 2 x Baguette Tradition with a baguette bag 1 x Pain Au Chocolat 1 x Orange Juice 1 x Iced Tea Citrus Green, The sur le Nil - Mariage Freres It's quite a bit and I did some damage on my wallet. But I've had my eye on this place for awhile! Lets review some of the items: Croissants - Delicious! Croissant making is such an art to appreciate! I loved it! It was soo good. My question for this place is o you make croissants with very high lamination (the super thin layered exterior like)? Tuscan Soup with Garlic Bread - My this was the one that gave me the biggest surprise. It was delicious. My boyfriend absolutely dislikes soup. And this made him a believer! The garlic bread was so delightful to bite into very generous on the portion of the bread! Baguette Tradition - I have yet to try it, but I will tomorrow. I would love it if they sold Pate! I know this is going to be a real treat. Pain Au Chocolat - I warmed this up at home and it was so good :) Orange Juice - Typical orange juice it was a bit tart for me. Ice Tea Citrus Green - Very fancy tea! I would have enjoyed this more with a bit of vanilla pump but they seem to forgot about that. I definitely like this place, and will plan to come back often. It's very difficult to find an authentic French bakery. Theres only a few that I like such as Moulin in Newport Beach, L'experience Paris in Bellevue, Washington. All very good in their own right and this place is up there for me! :)

Yelp
Was quite disappointed after waiting in line for about 15 minutes. The chocolate croissant with brownie inside was yummy, so was the chocolate almond croissant- but personally I don't think they should be called croissants, on account that they were missing the crucial flakiness of a croissant. They were more like sweet soft breads. The cannelés - you can tell from the picture that the two are different colors (inconsistent baking?). Neither of them had the crispy/crunchy/caramel-y crust a cannelé should have. They were soggy and kind of greasy. The shop was extremely busy and maybe that's why the staff weren't really friendly. It sure left something to be desired.

Yelp
I love croissants, especially the ones that have quality butter as the star ingredient. Maison Benoit does not disappoint. Their Kouign-amann is also some of the best I've had. My only qualm is the small size for the price, but otherwise it is balanced in flakeyness, sweetness, and butteryness. The service is always friendly and the decor is beautiful. It is a lovely space to grab some coffee with friends or catch up on some work with your laptop. There had been plenty of street parking when I went on early morning weekdays. I knocked off one star because I've only tried four items, their shaken espresso (delicious), kouign-amann (delicious), Cobb salad (not good), and croissant (soo delicious). Their Cobb salad was lackluster and contained too many lettuce butts. There was also a sizeable eggshell in the salad too which was unpleasant. With 3/4 items being amazing, I will be coming back often!

Yelp
It was busy with patrons eating at cafe but ordered my 2 Pain au Chocolat to go. I had my pastry today... It was buttery and flaky but my expectations were high so I was disappointed. I will have to comeback to try the Chouquettes and/or eclairs.

Yelp
Maison Benoit recently catered our school event, and we could not have been happier! Parents and children alike raved about the baked goods--the croissants, chouquettes, marquise, and so much more were an absolute hit. Every bite tasted fresh, authentic, and made with such care. The service was just as wonderful as the pastries. Benoit himself worked with me directly to make sure every detail was perfect, and it truly showed. You can tell he genuinely cares--not just about his customers, but about the community as a whole. If you ever need a bakery to cater your event, Maison Benoit is the one to call. They have our wholehearted vote, and we can't wait to work with them again!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Maison Benoit, and I can confidently say it's a hidden gem! From the moment I stepped inside, the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked goods enveloped me, instantly making my mouth water. The selection here is incredible. They offer everything from buttery croissants and decadent chocolate eclairs to a variety of artisan breads and custom cakes. I decided to try their Pear Pastry and it was hands down the best I've ever tasted--light, flaky and bursting with fresh Pears. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happily recommending their favorites and offering samples without hesitation. Their passion for baking truly shines through in the quality of their products. Plus, the cozy atmosphere and charming decor make this bakery a perfect spot to relax with a cup of coffee and a pastry. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Mason Benoit Whether you're looking for a quick treat or planning a special occasion, this bakery exceeds expectations every time. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delicious offerings!

Yelp
To clarify for other customers: I did receive a follow-up call from the owner afterward explaining that this was due to a system issue. However, I was not notified by phone or email before pickup that the preordered item was sold out. For anyone placing a preorder, please be aware that items may become unavailable without prior notice, and customers may only find out upon arrival. I would recommend confirming availability before heading to the store to avoid a wasted trip. This suggests the preorder system and communication process are not fully reliable at this time. Yelp
The croissants are amazing. Flaky, butter and picture perfect. Even after a second day reheat in the toaster oven, they held up, still flaky and delicious. Curious to try other items but they definitely nailed the croissants.

Yelp
What a dream come true for the East Bay at Maison Benoit in Danville. With a bustling business, this is most def. the downtown spot to grab something to-go or if lucky enough, be able to grab a spot indoor/outdoor to enjoy your pastries in the moment. Something unique on the menu I noticed on a recent visit was the Breakfast Board. For $12.50, the board comes with a Pain au chocolat, Croissant, and half a baguette served with butter, honey, and jam for you to truly choose your own breakfast adventure. Incredibly fun, picturesque, and great to split! Maison Benoit offers other delicious and traditional French pastries, breads, and omg, can't wait to come back and try the Croque Monsieur..that's one of my favorite things :) Looks like they also sell homemade ice cream and sorbet, and butter & tea from France. The story behind the owner of this spot and his incredibly hard-working Team from France is super cool, the bakery scent from all the deliciousness happening here could be bottled up, and the comfort in each bite felt here is just divine. If you've been, what did you try/what's your go-to bakery item?

Yelp
All the bread and coffee from this place are what I miss most at home. Every morning, I wish someone would bring me their coffee and bread.

Yelp
Maison benoit with some pretty dank croissants. The croissants here are delicious. It is crispy, crunchy buttery, flaky, and not as dense. Compared to cycle. It is a close second for me. I would recommend you ordering online and picking up as the line here or super long. Overall, these are really good croissants however they are just out of the way in the East Bay for me, but I find the area I will swing by and try the other croissants.

Yelp
Delicious pastries and great customer service! The whole family -- parents and baby approve! (Our 11 month old loves their croque monsieur. Drinks aren't sweet so if needed, ask for extra sweetener in advance.) We love the ambiance both outside on a warm day and indoors when it's too cold outside. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I LOVE tea lattes which they can't do. The staff was very accommodating when I first tried to order one.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. We drove up on a Thursday morning and got the parking space right in front. You know you're gonna have a good experience when that happens! So we step out of the car and the smell coming from all the windows that are thrown open is absolutely intoxicating. It smells like you're gonna have a great time! Once it inside, the cases are bursting with the most beautiful pastries, sandwiches, quiches, desserts and breads. We of course, had to order their famous butter croissant and was not disappointed at how delicious it tasted and so amazingly great we couldn't understand that! We also got a kouign amann which tasted in incredible. A Croque Monsieur sandwich that was huge and delicious and a sandwich with the fancy name that I can't remember, but it basically had pork in it and it was so yummy. We had a drip coffee as a decaf latte which was also hot and well. It was so fun sitting in the open window area facing the busy Danville Street. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it.

Yelp
Donnez-moi all the carbs. I went halfsies on the breakfast board and every bite was better than the one before. The baguette and pain au chocolat were incredible. I took a challah loaf home which ended up being a wonderful buttery delight. To note: they have at least a dozen options in the pastry case to suit any of your carb needs from brioche to galettes. The cafe itself is so cute with lots of natural light and seating. It def gives European cafe vibes. They have more substantial offerings as well, like croques and a few toasts, so definitely a great spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Overall, a gem. If I'm ever near Danville, you bet I'll be here for some treats.
