The MICHELIN Guide France 2024 is Revealed!

"Maison Benoît Vidal has successfully relocated from Val-d'Isère to Annecy. Here, the Chef remains faithful to his desire to 'transform matter into emotion' and accentuate the 'link between man and nature'." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Maison Benoît Vidal

"Having come down to Annecy from Val d'Isère, Benoît Vidal has set up shop in this restaurant with a slick contemporary decor. The Catalan chef, who hails from Perpignan and has worked with Michel Trama and Michel Guérard, has created a light, poetic brand of cuisine that is rooted in the culinary traditions of Savoie, his adopted home. He brings a sense of precision and his own personal style to bear on the rigorously sourced ingredients, elevating them with sound technical skill and elaborate presentations. The strength of this chef may well lie in his pared-down, apparently simple creations: a crayfish starter cleverly combining a slightly bitter coffee and pine bud sabayon with a powerful, concentrated jus made from the crayfish heads; semi-smoked pigeon seasoned with citrus and hazelnut – an understated and elegant dish. Appealing vegetarian set menu ("Sentier à fleur d'eau") and attractively priced lunch menu. There is also bistronomy-style fare at Côté Bistrot (lunchtime only)." - Michelin Inspector

The food is pretty good! But not sure exactly how/why they got 2*? Food : € 150/ person + wine pairing : €100/person. Add to that an aperitif + coffee, and the bill jumps >€600 for two. The place is modern, natural materials and very minimalist. A very good place to have a business lunch . It lacks emotion. The food is extremely well presented and there were some very delicious dishes. Unfortunately not all . Service is excellent. Sommelier can improve

Chose the €55 lunch set menu here with a bottle of wine, which turned out to be incredibly value for money for a 2-star Michelin and probably not too different from the basic dinner menu which is priced at over €120. Service was attentive. Dishes are delicately presented. The citrus theme lunch is interesting. Taste meets expectation albeit nothing stands out, closer to one star standard I would say. Overall still recommend to have a try if you are round.

We had a great time at lunch and the food was excellent. We were allowed to bring our dog and he got some water. The staff was really friendly and tried to explain everything in english. We got a pescetarian lunch menu and we will likely eat here again. Overall outstanding!

2 stars for a reason. We were lucky enough to get a spot in L'Atelier during our ski trip. We went for the lunch formula at 55 EUR per person, drinks excluded. Wonderful location with adjusted accommodation for skiers and, of course, the friendliest staff. We enjoyed every little piece of art greatly. Don't be surprised about the wine card, its prices are steep: cheapest bottles sell at almost 100 EUR.

Sublime. We had the “Entre Amont & Aval” menu featuring trout, oysters, and pigeon. Each dish was presented as a work of art with delicate tastes of herbs and plants. The service is impeccable. Noémie (I Hope I remember her name correctly), the Maître d’Hotel is warm and caring and makes her guest feel cared for. She is almost poetical when describing each dish and clearly has a passion for what she does. The chef came to see us at the end of the meal which is a nice touch.

Very fortunate to have eaten here last night, which was a Christmas present from our children. We chose the “Discovery” menu option and were not disappointed as it included amuse bouche, fish, crayfish, smoked pigeon, two desserts and our choice of cheese from the cheeses on offer. We chose our own wines with the help of the friendly sommelier. The food was obviously why we went but the highlight for me was the welcoming, friendly, informative staff who worked there. We were made to feel so included that I would head back to L’Atelier d’Edmond in a heartbeat!
