"Frédéric Doucet's restaurant is a creative and exciting new take on established ideas of terroir and tradition. The son of bistro owners, he was born into the business, and cut his teeth in the kitchens of the greatest chefs, from Pierre Orsi to Paul Bocuse via the prestigious La Maison Troisgros. Nestled in the heart of a village with pointed towers and old weathered roofs, the chef breaks it down for diners: nothing but the finest ingredients from Saône-et-Loire, beef, goat's cheese or snails, prepared by means of rigorously applied classic techniques that do not exclude flashes of inspiration. Take, for example, the frogs' legs glazed in wild garlic served with colours of the local meadows or the exceptional fillet of Charolais beef, matured and infused with Burgundy whisky. Such delights are difficult to resist, as are the spa and very appealing guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

My husband and I are at the end of a six week driving vacation around France; this was one of our favorite stays. A beautiful location just across from a cathedral in Charolles with easy parking. MD team are best described as gracious, welcoming, and professional; making everything easy for those of us who don’t speak fluent French. Deluxe room was spacious, well decorated, absolutely comfortable, and clean. Be sure to book dinner at the bistro and the restaurant, if your travel plans allow. The experience continues with beautiful, delicious food and excellent service. A treat. Chef Doucet and his team are outstanding. Highly recommend!

We had a fabulous time. Your team could not be more accommodating. A special thanks to François DOUCET who made a special effort at all times. François you know how to build a team who share your passion and who are ‘on message’ at all times. We have a small business and we know what it takes to build and maintain a great team. This was our second visit in about a year and we shall return. Your restaurant recommendations were sublime. Thank you so much.

Maison Doucet has become one of our favorite places to visit in France. Its gourmet restaurant, its hotel and its bistro are uniformly outstanding. Given the extremely high quality, it is also an exceptional value. Highly recommended!!

We have enjoyed our stay here incl the dinner at the restaurant. The setting is very comfortable, the personnel extremely nice and the wine list overwhelming. Dinner was great although sometimes too classic for us; creamy dishes in huge portions make the calories flow in. Very happy to recommend though and looking forward to go back.

Since many years we have a nice stop in the Burgundy region on the way to the South of France.||Maison Doucet was new on our list. But what a great surprise. Located some 45 km from the Autoroute it was the scenic trip worth. Very nice hotel, fantastic, we assume newly revamped, room. Very kind reception, garage available, but above that a gastronomic experience that we definitely would rate Michelin ** instead of just one*. Delicious courses and amuses served, all beautifully presented, in between explanation of all the ingredients (especially herbes) used, alternated with surprise drinks based on herbes and fruits. And of course an impeccable and very kind service.||So we will return to Maison Doucet. It is worth the trip through the Burgundy landscape.

What a find this charming hotel was! We had a room overlooking the swimming pool across the road from the main hotel (the room was enormous with a lovely modern bathroom, and very convenient for the spa) . Everything was immaculately clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the dinner absolutely delicious. We had the tasting menu which was a delight from beginning to end. Our only worry is that the restaurant (which is fantastic) will get two michelin stars and we will never be able to afford to go again!

We absolutely loved our entire experience over 2 days at Frederic Doucet — the hotel, the bistrot and the restaurant. Every single detail was perfect. Our degustation dinner in the restaurant was truly a tour de force by Chef Doucet and his team, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to the most experienced gourmet diners we know. We don’t understand how this restaurant has only one Michelin star and not two, because it stands head and shoulders above any other one star experience we’ve had. In spite of our limited French, we also found his team, while very serious about their work, a lot of fun to speak with. We highly, highly recommend Chef Doucet’s restaurant, bistrot and hotel.

We wished we could stay much longer. Every person we encountered-and there were many-was highly professional and made us feel welcome and wanted. The facilities were immaculate, and details were very specific and attended to. The restaurant was outstanding and even the breakfast was given attention beyond the usual. All fruits were of perfect ripeness, cheeses were artisanal, baked goods extraordinary. For some reason, our room and bath were enormous and fresh.
