Maison Doucet Charolles

A 10 out of 10. This is by far the best hotel I have ever been in France. Exceptional stay on our way tl Brussels. The whole staff is sooo friendly and attentive, they really made you feel like home. The food both for dinner and breakfast is extraordinary. Supreme quality. Rooms are very cozy and very clean. Incredible rest. We will be back again without a doubt

We had a wonderful night at Maison Doucet. The Chef is an artistic and culinary treasure! He also has an amazing team, especially the sommelier. Our best meal of the trip by far!!! We also loved the hotel. The staff were so helpful, especially the head of reception, Xiaoran. Charolles was a little bit out of the way for us but we are so glad we went. It is a small village with amazing people. We will be back!

2 Years after our first visit we wanted to visit Maison Doucet again, but, due to a silly fault in our planning, we unsuspecting arrived 1 day earlier than booked. Nevertheless the hotel made no problems and did their utmost best to accommodate us with a room and a table in the gastronomic restaurant. Never during all our travels have we experienced such a great service and hospitality.|The room, more a suite, was fantastic (in the opposite building) and at night we had a dinner (Immersion Bourgogne) just as memorable as the first one. The plates were delicious and looked like a painting composed with many local ingredients. The flavors were clearly present, but never dominated and always very well balanced. On top of this it were the fantastic 'amuse bouches' who made the dinner experience complete. The explanation of every course was extensive and very expertly. We choose several glasses (not the wine pairings) of great Burgundy wine from the very extensive wine list. |So, again we had a fantastic stay in Charolles which is in every aspect worth the journey. As said in our first review Maison Doucet is in our opinion worth **Michelin stars.|Last but not least, the overall service and friendliness were impeccable. It completed everything.|Shall we return to Charolles one day......?

We stayed one night at this Relais & Châteaux hotel during a road trip through southern France. While it’s certainly a good hotel, the five-star rating feels a bit generous. Services such as reception and luggage assistance are rather limited, though the overall value for money is fair.|The rooms are modern and comfortable, though the open-plan bathroom design might not be ideal: noise can be a nuisance if one person wants to sleep while the other is getting ready. Breakfast was a real highlight: generous, tasty, and served in a beautifully decorated room with a charming little terrace for the summer months.|We also tried the hotel’s Bistrot to taste the much-praised Charolais entrecôte, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype.|All in all, a pleasant hotel for a short stay, especially as a stopover, but not quite the full five-star experience.

A delightful hotel and is a great example of what to expect from a hotel under the Relais & Chateaux banner. Staff were fantastic - helpful, friendly and all spoke English. It is conveniently located in the middle of the town there was ample of parking very close by. We had a fantastic, well priced meal in the Bistro and will definiatley return to sample the cuisine in the Michelin star restaurant.

The room was large and comfortable as was the bath. Bed very comfortable and there were great views. Indeed you felt at the home of Fredrick Doucet and family. The staff provided the best service I ever had at a lodging. 5 nights.

Cannot fault this amazing find. From the rooms, food, service and most important the amazing (and multi talented) staff. Was a memorable three day stay.
