Maison Zugno

"Dating back to the late 18C, this former coaching inn has been turned into a charming hotel (nine guestrooms, a swimming pool and spa) and a restaurant with three small dining areas (wooden floors, walnut tables, exposed brick walls, floral wallpaper or a green wall). Chef Quentin Defert makes modern, entirely gluten-free cuisine from seasonal, often local produce (but that's not all). Starters include a pear brunoise paired with blue cheese from the nearby dairy in La Marre, creamed corn combined with hazelnuts, and melt-in-the-mouth Iberian pork belly served with romanesco and elevated by a flavoursome Thai emulsion." - Michelin Inspector

We recently spent 4 nights at Maison Zugno on a trip to the Jura region and we absolutely loved it. Located in a beautiful part of France, the hotel is just a short drive from great hikes, towns and villages. Laurence and Nicholas were brilliant hosts and always on hand to help. The breakfast was exceptional and we enjoyed a lovely 4 course dinner one evening. The staff are all amazing and the service was fun & friendly. We very much enjoyed the spa area of the hotel - a great place to relax after hiking. We will definitely be back someday! Tim & Megan

Just finished up our second stay at Maison Zugno. They are the finest hotel in Jura. The service and hospitality has a personal touch and intimacy unfound in hotels of this caliber. The restaurant is excellent, and they have cultivated one of the best cellars for exciting natural wines in France. The rooms, linen, and spa are all superb. 5/5.

The owner couple purchased, restored and operate this lovely hotel and spa. They are both welcoming, professional and a pleasure to speak with following returns from adventures each day. The rooms are incredibly spacious and quiet. We were concerned we would not have anything to do and see in such a small town. Well, we ran out of time. The Tour de France passed through one day. There are incredible waterfall hikes, beautiful drives in the area and a quaint town nearby. We drove 30 minutes one day for a lovely wine tour. In addition, MZ offered a lovely breakfast with freshly squeezed OJ, wonderful coffee and freshly made pastries for 15 Euro. Totally a do not miss. One of our favorite things at MZ was dinner. It offered one-seating per night for all guests and a surprise four-course menu. We enjoyed dinner immensely two times. Another favorite about this hotel and spa is the owners. So special and fun (Tell me). This place is romantic and also excellent for business meetings since it offers many tucked-away areas.

The Observatory was one of the finest rooms I've stayed in anywhere. The service was detailed and very friendly. They didn't miss a thing. The restaurant was the best meal we had in the Jura.

This Maison is fantastic! We were passing by towards Dijon without a hotel and we saw it next to the highway, we called and we were so lucky to find a room. We only stayed 1 night and it was amazing. The service was amazing! The owner was there and we were talking with her and it just made us feel so welcome. The wine was also fantastic as well as all local products they have for apero and breakfast We are definitely coming back to stay more days in this great place.

It is a garden eden. Even though it is adjacent to a road, this place is so peaceful! The garden with the pool and the jacuzzi is so peaceful! We had such a lovely moment!|The room is clean and spacious.|The food quality is excellent. But we do not like the idea of a "surprise menu". The first two plates we loved, but the second two, was food we do not appreciate...|The parking is secure and the staff very friendly! |We ll be back!

Having driven past here many times to and from UK to Switzerland we finally decided to stop. We should have done this many times before, it was excellent. The family team that run the hotel are wonderful hosts, chef and keep the lovely restored farm house to a very high standard. It is ideally placed at the cross route over the Jura and scenic balcony between Arbois and Chateau Chalon. There is a very high quality set menu with advice on matching local wines to the local food. I recommend the local sweet or slightly fortified wines. The small staff members were knowledgeable attentive and charming. The large garden contains pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Rooms vary slightly in style and layout but are all high quality. An excellent 2 day stay.

Stayed here with my wife as part of our honeymoon. The service, property, and dining were exquisite. The views from the lawn, the linens, and the pool/hot tub made for a comfortable and hugely relaxing stay. The owners, Laurence and Nicolas, have a really special place and provide a level of personal service unheard of in most modern hotels and restaurants. They, along with the rest of the staff, were awesome in recommending local locations to check out too. We look forward to going back. Great natural wine too!
