"Liberty’s local Mexican joint serves up a tight, focused menu in a charming, cantina style space. Owners Ivan and Gabriela pay serious respect to the art, culture and history of the slightly less popular corn tortilla, which they make on-site, entirely from scratch. There’s a real focus on culture here, with educational art adorning the walls and frequent event nights. All ingredients are sourced sustainably, and where possible, locally. Maizal have partnered with a farm in Ontario to produce their own corn, and with educational institutions to expose students to their practices. Their efforts have been recognised with an award for agri-food innovation excellence. Grab a cactus salad and a chocolate tamal to round out your courses, and wash the whole thing down with horchata, micheladas, or of course, tequila. ¡Que rico!" - NUFF

I am so impressed and satisfied with this amazing Traditional Mexican dish. This Taco was DELICIOUS and out of this world... the best I've ever had. I really recommend to try Maizal Totopos, Salsas, Tamales, nixtamal masa and Corn Tortillas freshly made in Toronto. Order online at maizal.ca you will thank me later.

The place definitely has character & the food is delicious! The downside is that being a pretty small place with a pretty big reputation, they pre-mix all the dishes ingredients/sauces, to keep up with the crowd. So you cannot customize a dish, if you have any allergies (for example to onions). Check the menu before going: if you like it the way it is, go ahead and enjoy a nice dinner in a charming location. I lived their mango margarita. Wheelchair accessible, kids friendly and they take credit/debit cards too.

Authentic Mexican food, very well made. The restaurant loses points for the slow service, this happens due to the lack of servers. Seating is limited so come at 5pm when they open, or be prepared to wait a typical wait of 20-30 minutes. Well worth a visit when in Toronto.

One of my fav restaurants in liberty because it's still home feeling, fresh, and dedicated to quality and service over pure gains. Wish I took pictures but was busy enjoying the tacos, dips, fish salad wrap, and soup ! They are usually only one for dinner time except Fridays but a nice treat from what's available around the village. They have draft and other drinks to compliment the food! Enjoy!

Service was wonderful and the food was really good. Ordered the al pastor fish taco and it was delicious!! I would totally order it again the next time I come in. Also got a mojito (it was okay) and the “all around the world” quesadilla @nomsoftoronto

This is real Mexican food, period. Maizal honours its namesake by elevating the humble tortilla and masa to create really flavourful "miracles" on a plate. No overpriced "dapper" chips and guacamole here, rather you'll find the best traditional Mexican food in town, with a more electrifying menu than hipsters places and tacos truly fit for a king. Don't settle for 7, get all eight quesadillas and enjoy the true "México lindo y querido" on your trip around the world. And don't leave without ordering the "café de olla", it'll warm you up more than a "rebozo" on a cold winter's night.

Excellent mexican restaurant right in the heart of Liberty village. Fast service and a great "mom and pop" feel in such a small restaurant. A well priced menu including many beers and wines. We had their guacamole as an appetizer and it was incredible, highly recommend.
