Delicious food, very tasty and great portions. They also cater for gluten free / coeliac extremely well with a separate GF menu. We had the chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, sweet chilli chicken and Singapore noodles all gluten free. Will be back again soon!

Stopped by yesterday for dinner to try out the GF Sweet & Sour Chicken and it was DELICIOUS!!! My husband had to beef basil and he enjoyed it! They also brought out rice puffs which we liked and we tried the Salt & Pepper Prawns for appetizer. Definitely recommend anyone looking for GF foods. They have a designated Coelic Menu.

I was very happy I discovered this place. Coming across a restaurant that is full is always a good sign. The service was superb as was the food. They have an excellent gluten-free menu which I really appreciated since I hadn't eaten many of these dishes in years.

Lovely meal here with a group of friends. They also have a Gluten free menu available. They food was served hot and cooked fresh as you can see the kitchen. Staff were very helpful and made sure we had everything that we needed. Well worth a visit.

Delicious food, great service and a nice relaxing location to enjoy dinner. Very large servings in my opinion. Shared the bowl of rice and app, and each had an app. I took half of mine home!

Great Gluten Free options available at Mak. Full separate Coeliac menu and also loads of options for takeaway. Solid Chinese food joint just outside of Dublin. Good service. Fast, nice, attentive. Good ambiance. Dark furnishings promote a quiet, authentic experience. Food...solid. The cumin beef was especially flavorful.

Absolutely delicious and incredible food. And I saw many other tables get dishes that looked amazing as well. We shared the duck pancakes and some potstickers. We also the shared the chicken cashew dish. All very well served and high quality. Delicious overall!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We discovered it when visiting our child in college and had an amazing dinner--ok, actually a few dinners because we kept going back! Try the dry ribs appetizer if you are a meat eater, and after that it's all good. We will definitely be going back. Oh, and the waiters are super nice too. But that's Dublin, my new favorite "largest village in Europe"!

When I planned my trip to Dublin I didn't anticipate finding a great Asian food restaurant but Mak is apparently a favorite of my hosts. Easy walking distance from their home in Donnybrook, we were seated quickly and without a reservation. The portions were just the right size and our server, a fellow American, was efficient and charming. We had a wonderful meal!

I used the opportunity of a Dim-Sum voucher on GrabOne for my first visit to this place. At a first impression, the restaurant seems clean, stylishly furnished and the staff is friendly! I wouldn't call it cozy, though. It reminded me a lot of the old Diep place in Ranelagh. As for the food, we ordered a variety of Dim-Sum off the three different sections (steamed, pot stickers and fried, I believe). The food looks great and is neatly arranged (see photos) but I have to say that I was underwhelmed by it to say the least. Only two of the dishes (No. 101: prawn dim-sum and the salt and pepper squid) found my approval, the rest could have come from Charlie's. sounds harsh, but it was just average. The sweet and sour pork had tiny pork pieces which made the batter overpowering, the marinated pork in fluffy buns where quite small and no comparison to any street food vendor in San Francisco's Chinatown, the Singapore noodles didn't have crunch and were very heavy on the curry (although that might be intended). On the good, no great side were the Prawn Dim-Sum which were actually nicely big and full of flavour! My personal highlight were the salt and pepper squid rings, with a light batter, nice crunch, soft on the inside and with a great garlicky taste to the batter. Arranged with spring onions and slivers of chili it made my day. Will I come back? Meh, not sure. While I'm still looking for a Dim-Sum place to become my regular (the US have spoiled me) I feel like trying out some other recommendations before giving this another go. Sorry Mak...

We came in one night looking for just dessert. Dessert was tasty & decided to come back for dinner. To start: we had old fashions and pork spring rolls. A little light on the pork but fried perfectly. Our mains: pork & shrimp Shu Mai dim sum; very tasty, steamed to perfection. We also had the drunken shrimp, just enough heat (spiciness) to enhance the taste of the food. Overall, had a great dining experience. The food was very tasty & satisfying. The ambiance reminded me of an LA style eatery. Our waitress even remembered us from the night before when we had our dessert.

Had a great meal here with family. Food and drinks were both wonderful. Great setting. Staff were exceptional. Highly recommended.

Very nice upmarket Chinese food. I've get the same dish there and the quality can vary a little but overall the quality is great. I think it's slightly over priced. Staff are very nice & friendly.

Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, enjoyed dinner with my friends at the weekend, a bit of Thai food with Red wine following Tequila! Sure why not! I am not a huge fan of Thai food, but generally I enjoyed the night, hostess and staff are very friendly, not a noisy place so you can have conversation, yes it's a good spot in Ranelagh!

I'd probably given a higher star if the twice I have visited the restaurant when it was busy. I visited twice for lunch on Saturday and there were very few other diners, place kind of feels like a hotel restaurant in Beijing. Food is okay, I went for the the dim sum and I thought it was just about average. The sticky rice was the best and the portions are well sized but it just didn't taste very authentic and the whole experience was lacking in flavour. Staff were very friendly and the place was spotless. I like what the place is trying to do, let's face it Ranelagh couldn't handle a real dim sum place so it's better than nothing.

While the only close comparison I've eaten in is the Oriental Cafe on Georges St, it's safe to say that this is one of the best dim sum restaurants in Dublin, and probably the best Asian restaurant in Dublin 6. The dim-sum menu is incredibly tasty, offering a range of small dishes (spring rolls, dumplings, etc) that are fried, grilled, or steamed. Most esquisite were their prawn har gau, little transluscent dumplings in a traditional pot. Other options, such as pork dumplings and salt-and-pepper squid were cooked incredibly well. The only downside is that for €15 or so you'll get three dishes, and that won't really fill you up. A fourth will cost you €20 which seems steep. And that's only lunchtime prices; they go up in the evening. That said, there are noodle dishes which may be of better value, and I'll be happy to return to find out.

I get horrible food envy so places where it is encouraged to try a little of what you fancy suits me just fine! I popped in here with my friend after a gig, and we both ordered very differently, I chose 2 from the dim sum menu -1 pot sticker and 1 crispy tofu dish, as well as noodles on the side, while my friend went for the beef in black bean sauce, which even at €17 did not include rice! I loved my tofu, and apparently the meat was nice, but not €17 nice. I found the vegetable pot stickers to be seriously bland and my noodles were just as grease soaked as they would have been in any 2-bit take away. My wine wasn't great, very flavourless Pino at €6.50 a glass, and it was all very much a let down. The biggest issues I found were service and hygiene. The toilets didn't flush! An issue noticed as soon as we got in and not resolved 90 minutes later when we left, I accept the staff aren't plumbers, but seriously lads, sort it out! And we were roundly ignored for 20 minutes trying to get our bill as the waiter flirted with a table of 18 year old freshers to our side, it was the lack of professionalism that annoyed me, honest! not the reminder of my every northward creeping years or fading looks, but it didn't bleedin help!

Great food , great staff , great cocktails. Have had dinner on 6 occasions and can say this is the best Asian restaurant in Dublin . Try it's dim sum menu , or great mains including beef , prawns , duck etc . Keep up the good work , see you again soon !!

Great new local Asian restaurant with an interesting selection of dim sum, noodles and stir fry dishes. Had a family birthday here last night and we were all delighted with our grub and the waiting staff were lovely. Will definitely be back again!

I came here with a few friends on a January midweek evening. It was fairly busy given the day that was in it. The menu is pretty extensive - half dim-sum, half more conventional Asian main dishes e.g. chicken with cashew/ black bean dishes etc. The venue is casual enough - dont really remember much about the decor, so not sure if that's a positive or a negative. As we were quite hungry we all opted to go for a main dish each and had one dim-sum to share; just to get a taster. We ordered shrimp with peppers. They were fine, the sauce was tasty but the actual peppers stuffed with shrimp were nothing to write about. Don't think Id recommend them. For mains, I ordered chicken with cashew nuts; while the others ordered chicken curry, pork belly and lastly a stir-fried noodle dish ( cant remember the details). The main dishes are fairly pricey at ~€17 - you don't get any rice/noodles with your dish unless you order an actual all in noodle dish. So all in you're looking at about €20 for a lot of the dishes once rice/noodles are added. And as explained by the waitress the side portions are small so each main order needs a side order of rice/noodles. I wasn't impressed by my chicken with cashew - it was fine but of a standard I've had before from a bog standard take-away. Same went for the chicken curry. The guys who had the pork belly and the noodle stir-fry were more impressed. However, all were in agreement : you can get a whole lot better in Dublin for the same price or less. Now to be fair, it seemed as we were leaving, that dim-sum was the order of the day: everyone was having it. So maybe we went for the wrong dishes. But then again, if you're charging €20 for chicken with cashew nuts and fried rice, I'd expect it to be much better than it was. Service was attentive. I'm willing to come back and try the dim-sum and hopefully it will be a more enjoyable experience.

I am not a Chinese food fan, but decided to give it a go, and I was pretty satisfied! The food was really good quality and I really enjoyed how fresh everything tasted. Perhaps my only complaint was the somewhat slow service. That's not meant at all to discredit the staff who were pretty professional, but there were just two waiters for the whole place running around trying to service everyone. Not sure if that's typical or I just happened to catch them at a bad moment. All in all though, I think it was still worth it for the good food, so if you're looking for decent Chinese, I'd recommend this place!

We went to Mak few weeks ago on a Saturday night. We had done the take-away thing previously. The place as a nice atmosphere. The staff were efficient but not really that friendly. It took a while to get out orders taken. I had the spare ribs and the chicken satay, both of which were tasty. On the down side, the meal was quite expensive especially went the portions weren't that big. I really like the food in Mak - they really do have good flavour to their food, but I think I'd prefer take away to sitting in. Having said that, I'll likely give eating there a whirl again sometime.

Really unimpressed, not sure what all the hype is about. I was shown to my table by an uninterested waiter and ignored for 10 minutes before I could ask for a glass of water. I then asked for some recommendations and was surprised by the waiter's lack of knowledge of his own menu. We got the attention of a more senior-looking waitress and ordered some dim sum and then fried noodles for mains. She dropped a nice bowl of prawn crackers to our table, but snatched them back without asking as soon as our dim sum arrived. The steamed dumplings were actually nicely done, especially the shrimp and pak choi one. The crispy dumplings lacked in flavour. I chose duck Ho Fan noodles and the waitress recommended chicken Singapore Udon noodles for mammy. The Ho Fan noodles had plenty of meat but had as much grease as the fried noodles in Charlies. The Singapore Udon noodles were fried with far too much curry paste, I could feel it on my teeth. Dumplings: good Noodles: poor, expensive Service: poor

One of my absolute favorite restaurants! Whenever people come to visit me, the first spot I take them for dinner is Mak! The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. The staff is always kind and the food never fails! I'll be so sad when it cannot be a part of my weekly routine when I return back to the states!

Very very very nicely done. The Rathmines/Ranelagh area could have done with a classy dim sum place and they have it now! Good eating and great staff, hard-working and attentive. Good for them and VERY good for me!!

I always have the best intentions to take a photo of my food to put on Yelp, but then everything goes out the window once its delivered to my table! This is what happened last night at Mak 6. I think I reminded myself two or three times from the time I got there to right before I started inhaling my dinner. Next time...I promise! Mak 6 is a lovely dim sum restaurant in Ranelagh. I never noticed it before until my recently purchased voucher brought me to it last night. It was a Tuesday night, so it wasn't very busy at all. I'm not sure if it gets busier towards the weekend or if people just don't know about its greatness? If you haven't tried this place, make it a point to get in for a bite STAT! They offer a dim sum menu of three categories - Steamed, grilled, and crispy, as well as main Chinese dishes, starters, and sides. There's a note on the dim sum menu that recommends you pick a few dim sum dishes in addition to a noodle dish, so that's exactly what we did! We had the Char Sui Pork bun from the steamed menu which is honey barbequed pork in a fluffy white bun and the spicy chicken potsticker from the grilled section. From the crispy section we ordered the Pork taro ball and the vegetable spring rolls, and we chose the chicken chow mein as our noodle dish. I shared all of this with my friend and it was the perfect amount of food, although it was so good I wanted more. The suggestion from the menu to combine a few dim sum dishes with a noddle dish was spot on! Every item was delicious and nothing was left in the end. The chow mein was perfect and I'm tempted to go back for more tonight! Also - They have a cocktails for under 10 euro, and a good selection of Asian beer, my favourite being Singha. I will be back soon, and by soon I mean tonight.

I am a huge fan of Mak, this is the go to spot for my family. We love the dumplings, although I will say that I nearly always go for the same ones- spicy chicken potstickers and beef shumai with a side of rice or noodles. Never disappoints! Tried their cocktails on a recent visit and they're also pretty tasty! The Cosmopolitan is wickedly good! Staff are generally friendly and there is a nice atmosphere in the place. I would absolutely recommend it!

Went here with 3 others and we all had 2 courses and everything was amazing! Prawn yuk sung, squid, wontons, tofu, prawn curry - all delicious. Their early bird looks incredible value too!

Ok - food was good. Dim sum were excellent. A little pricy for lunch, particularly given dim sum are so small. Service ok, but thought our waiter tried to pull a fast one by giving us the dinner menu with much higher prices at lunchtime. When mentioned to him, lunch menu was 'found'. I'd go back if I was in the mood for noodles!

I have seen mixed reviews about Mak at D6 so it has never been high on my options list. Well the other evening we were craving Chinese and given the lack of options in Ranelagh figured it was time to give Mak a test run. We glanced at the menu and called in our orders. I ordered the Prawn with ginger and scallion for J and for myself was torn between the Sweet and Sour Chicken and Mak's curry. I went ahead and called the restaurant and the server who answered pushed me toward the curry. J picked up the order on his way home from work and after scolding me for ordering such expensive takeaway :) we set to work on the food. His food was fresh and had good flavours. My curry wasn't much to look at (brown is such an ugly colour) but boy was it good. More of an Irish inspired curry than Asian inspired but really nice and there was a ton of food. This is certainly more expensive than Neon Asian but we really liked the food and it gets points for convenience. Worth a try!

The best Chinese restaurant in Dublin. My favourite is their potstickers, they are bar far the best I've had. Really friendly service and really good cocktails.

We have eaten dim sum in many locations of the world and the dim sum exceeds most of the places that we have been. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect. It was a wonderful place to have some afternoon dim sum. We will be back again soon.

Waited for 1hour 45 mins for a main on sat eve- very disappointed. Nice food - but no food is worth that wait! Pleasant staff and nice atmosphere. Received complimentary glass of wine for inconvenience

Love this place - the food, the atmosphere and the staff. I have always enjoyed every mouthful and the calamari and the duck pancakes are to die for! I loved Furama in Donnybrook and was disappointed when it closed its doors - but Mak is even nicer and just as sweet

The food was tasty, however the quantity left a little to be desired. We went for a dim sum special for two with cocktail included which was quiet pricy, delicious but not quiet enouh if you go there with a big appetite.
