Perched on the 7th floor, this vibrant LES rooftop offers Japanese-inspired cocktails, plush pink booths, and DJ-spun tunes perfect for weekend revelries.
"This LES party rooftop reopened in the spring of 2021 with its typical disco-ball-DJ-booth-Lower-Manhattan feel. Historically this rooftop bar at the Sixty LES hotel has had at least one birthday or bachelorette party at any given moment. Which is to say it’s a fun spot that gets very loud and very busy." - hannah albertine
"Between the broken AC in your office and the unventilated F train platform, you’ve reached your heat quota for the day. But, your friends want a rooftop and you don’t have the energy to fight them on it. Take everyone in your group to Make Believe on the LES, a rooftop bar with two distinct indoor and outdoor areas. Being inside won’t make you feel jealous of the party outside though, because there are big windows, and a disco ball hanging over a dance floor. On weekends, Make Believe tends to reach capacity, so we recommend making a reservation or getting here early the next time you want to drink a matcha or sake cocktail in a pink booth." - hannah albertine
"The New York Post spoke with bouncers at Temple Bar, Make Believe, and Paul’s Casablanca, soliciting advice on how to get into the city’s “most exclusive” nightlife spots." - Luke Fortney
"Make Believe is another rooftop, and it gets a little rowdier than Broken Shaker. It’s on the Lower East Side (on the 7th floor of the Sixty LES hotel), the crowd here is a little bit younger, and there are couple of outdoor areas on either side for when it’s nice out. There’s also a DJ setup in the corner, and if you come here late at night on a weekend, you’ll probably wind up dancing under some strings of pink lights while attempting to hold a conversation with a stranger who’s pretty decent at beer pong. If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s a fun spot." - Bryan Kim, Matt Tervooren
"The Lower East Side has no shortage of bars - day-drinking spots, speakeasies, places to dance, and almost every other type of bar you can think of. What it doesn’t have a lot of, though, is outdoor drinking options. So the next time someone recommends Hotel Chantelle, you should remember Make Believe - a tropical-themed cocktail bar on the roof of the Sixty Hotel in LES with two outdoor terraces. It tends to reach capacity pretty early on weekends, so we recommend making a reservation when you want to drink a matcha or sake cocktail in a pink booth." - Matt Tervooren
