Where to Eat and Drink on Campus at Portland State University | Eater Portland

"Right across the street from University Pointe, Mak’s Mini Mart is the best on-campus convenience store for grab-and-go items and late-night runs, and I appreciate that it’s open until 2 a.m." - Alayna Becker

50 "convenience fee" isn't very convenient. I'm paying a fee for YOUR convenience, no thanks. Not how bills work. you can't charge me for things I'm not getting. If you're being charged by the cc to use cards then take it up with them, those are sellers fees, not buyers fees. Pretty shady to pass those on, by you and any business that does. She has a rude and inappropriate attitude in general, discriminates, seen it multiple times. Also, upcharge a $2 mini bag of flour for $6? Really?

I Hate the lady called Bobby that works here she always has a unprovoked attitude and clearly treats white customers nicer. every time we come in she always loudly says hi to let us know she’s keeping an eye on us and will angrily say “didn’t find what you were looking for?” if you leave the store without buying something. She will comfortably yell at you at the register if you do something wrong. I hope more customers return the attitude to her and maybe one day she will let go of the stick up her behind.

very unfriendly woman who runs the place like the military and is possibly racist according to past reviews. But also has things when the gas station doesn't.

Best store to get some snacks! Cheap drinks, especially if they have the pair deal! The only things they overprice are things you need at a convenience. The detergent is so expensive for such a tiny bottle when I can go to Safeway and buy a way bigger bottle for $5 more. Other than that, everything seems alright to me. I am from California, so it can be a different price experience for everyone. The customer service is totally fine to me since I'm not a talker. Just scan my things and get me out of there.

This place completely overcharges. It's in a very convenient location for PSU students who live in the dorms right there, and they price gouge them. Staff is hit or miss being friendly or having a gruff attitude. The only real redeeming quality this place had was it's parking lot which was convenient short term parking for anyone who just entered into downtown or those who live in Broadway hall, and now that's gone. I refrain from shopping here.

Wish I could report a more pleasant experience, but the cashier this evening accused me of stealing on my way out of the store. A quick question asking if I needed help or found what I was looking for could reliably fall under good customer service. I did not get that. Rather, I got a more sordid experience, where this person's perception and incredibly inaccurate assessment have left me undeniably sure that I will not be returning. But also, I am upset and solely responsible for the anger and the subsequent harm, mental and physical, that this experience has left me with. Dramatic? Maybe. But it happened and perhaps others would like to know about it. That's all.

Thank you Bobby and everyone! The neighborhood loves you. If anyone complains about prices, it's called a convenience fee. You have every right to go somewhere else. In fact, I've seen Bobby consider cost and check in with guests to make sure they want to purchase such item before processing. Customer Service 10/10. I cherish Mak's ❤️

No prices listed on a large portion of items in an attempt to get people to buy overpriced things. Please just list the prices on all the items.
