The Best Restaurants in Camden | Where to Eat Near Camden Market | Eater London

"In a different London, Malay Fellas would be a roti John stand. The other cooking is good to great, but the roti John is the crown jewel. The etymology and origin of roti John as with any modern dish is hotly contested, but the most popular theory is that John was the generic name for a white male customer and roti meant bread, so his order was a roti John. Here, the sandwich itself goes beyond a simple omelette between bread thanks to all the little touches Malaysians love in their street food: the egg mix is enlivened with chopped meat and onions; there are minimal but important herbs and salad; the fluffy but substantial white sub roll is toasted in just enough fat; there are multiple textures of onion; and most importantly the slightly sweet but piquant sauce that makes you finish the sandwich in seconds. It’s billed as a sloppy joe, but that’s underselling it massively. Worth the visit for one dish alone." - David Paw

This was a spontaneous one for my friends and I but I’m so happy we tried it out. The service is so friendly and timely , the food was such a good price and portion size but most of all the flavours! Authentic and simply delicious, I had the Laksa Prawn Vermicelli Noodles and i finished it all. The staff are so accommodating and kind, with lovely smiles. They really do keep an eye out, I appreciate the waiter who willingly took our group pictures :) thank you! Will definitely recommend 😇

Our moment at Malay Fellas was so good!! We were warmly welcomed by the staff, who recommended us and helped us choose our food. Everything we took was delicious!! We had curry puffs, roti sarang burung, sambal with beef / tofu & eggplants, kari laksa and the traditional milk tea and coffee 😋 You should try this address, I will definitely come back !

A friend who is a foodie highly recommended this eatery. We trusted his recommendation and decided to try it ourselves. We were told that it used to be a Southeast Asian restaurant with a wide range of Asian dishes. They preserved some of the original Thai decor, but this place primarily featured Malaysian cuisines, hence the name Malay Fellas. The cuisine was fairly good. The sambal with the lemak was quite authentic. We are delighted we tried it. We were fairly full and had no room for dessert. The staff were courteous and friendly, which added to our enjoyment of the experience. We will return and try different dishes when we are in the region again.

Tried the Mee Goreng Mamak at Malay Fellas and it was absolutely spot on. The noodles had that proper smoky wok hei flavour, tossed with prawns, chicken and egg in a rich soy-chilli sauce that was packed with taste. The fresh lime and crunchy toppings gave it a lovely lift too. Hearty, bold and really comforting – easily one of the best Malaysian dishes I’ve had in London. Pair it with their Coconut Tree mocktail and you’re onto a winner.

Salem aleikoum, The first time eating Malaysian food. It was delicious, verry good experience. The typical Malaysian drink had a very good taste. the starters and the main dishes were verry delicious. My kids loved it. May Allah grant baraqah in your restaurant. The girl who worked there was SO sweet and she made our experience even better! The only thing I didn't like was that they also have alcohol in the basement. Better for Muslims to eat upstairs.
