"This Southeast Portland food cart off Division is known for its lollipop wings, but don’t picture tiny bite-sized morsels; these are hulking wings, with a convenient “handle” for (somewhat) less messy dining. The wings themselves have a nice, crisp exterior, doused in a well-balanced honey-soy-garlic sauce. Mama Chow’s serves its lollipop wings with tangles of garlicky noodles or rice, though they’re also available a la carte." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden, Dianne de Guzman

First time here, I got the wonton noodle soup and my friend got the wonton garlic noodles. Both were excellent, and my friend's wontons were pan fried which suited the garlic noodles perfectly. On my second visit I went with garlic noodles with the lollipop wings. Garlic noodles were excellent as I remembered but not a huge fan of the lollipop wings - maybe a bit undercooked because meat was still sticking to the bone. Also not a clean hands experience. My favorite dish here has to be the garlic noodles with wontons!

The wait can be kinda long, but the food is so good that it's worth it. The garlic noodles are a must, and you can't go wrong with any of the protein choices. Although the chicken wings are top tier! Put in your order, find a nice table to chill at, and then enjoy :)

Recently moved to the Farmhouse Food Cart Pod, behind/next to Rev Nat's, they haven't missed a beat!! Garlic Noodles with BBQ pork was amazing. The fried tofu was great, and if anyone tells you they hate tofu, they should try MamaChow's, it's a game changer. We also had wings and the pork and shrimp dumplings. You cannot go wrong with any of it!!

Had a delicious garlic noodles with the pan fried pork & shrimp dumplings. It came with some chili crisp on the side. So tasty!

I re-discovered Mama Chow’s during dumpling week this year (they used to be in a different location) and I’m so glad I did! The food was absolutely incredible and I am dying to come back and try some of the other things on their menu. There is plenty of open seating and one table has a fire if it’s a cold rainy day like when we were there. We ordered a couple bowls to eat immediately and I also got one to go, and they were so accommodating to make sure it would still be delicious later (they put the broth in a separate dish so the wontons wouldn't get soggy).

Google
Literally can't not tell you how amazing this place is. Not only are they the KINDEST humans, but the food was beyond incredible. I was craving shrimp, and it was not on the regular menu since it's a random special. Surprisingly, he said he had some and would make it for me. We had the lollipop garlic noodles which were DELICIOUS, tofu, the fried chicken, and shrimp garlic noodles. They were so accommodating. We will be back 1 million percent.

Google
Authentic Chinese from a food cart. In other places, noodles are just a vehicle to transport sauce to your mouth - not so here. The noodles are the main feature, chewy and flavorful, not over cooked. That said, the vegetables were delightful too. The tofu was superior: fried wrong, tofu can be leathery on the outside but this was tender and flavorful without being soggy.

Mama Chow's Kitchen is part of the Farmhouse Carts pod anchored by Migration Brewing. The menu is streamlined from what appears to have been a longer list. I got the garlic noodles with pan fried pork and shrimp dumplings, which also had perfectly cooked baby bok choy (tasty wok hay). The portions are huge - even after sharing a few wonton and some noodles with my group I have enough noodles left over for a nice snack. My order included a small cup of chili oil, which was perfect for the wontons (and I've dumped the rest on my leftover noodles). I was given a choice of no spice, mild, medium, and spicy with a note that this is American spicy (not Asian spicy). As a Chinese-American raised in the Midwest, the medium (with dips into the chili oil) was perfect! The folks in the cart were friendly, helpful, and made sure to manage my expectations with not only the spice level, but also the wait. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and had me eating a little beyond my stomach hunger to satisfy my mouth hunger. I'll be back to try out every single one of the other options. The pod has plenty of seating, though it filled up rapidly as the very temperate Friday early evening wore on. While the pod appears to be dog and stroller/kid friendly, I did notice that there were some pinch points in foot traffic as the pod filled up and could hear some dog-reactive dogs clashing nearby. UPDATE: since my review Mama Chow's has experienced a lot of major shifts. They had to close temporarily but will be having their grand re-opening at their new location with Steeplejack as the anchor taphouse on 02/15/2025. Very much looking forward to checking out the new space and welcoming them back!

Yelp
Mama Chow's is one of my favorite food carts in Portland. Top five. Hands down. Home cooked delicious food. Great owners. What more could you ask for in a food cart?! Their menu is straight to the point - soups, rice, noodles, dumplings with different protein options, with occasional specials. Less is more, and Mama Chow's truly is more. MC is known for their lollipop wings - but they make all their proteins in house and don't let the wing hype overshadow their delicious bbq pork or handmade dumplings! We got their garlic shrimp garlic noodles (special) and pork & shrimp dumpling garlic noodles. OMG their garlic noodles are so good! Truly garlicky and saucy, it is absolutely delicious. The shrimp was succulent and plump. The pork & shrimp dumplings were rich and flavorful. Truly comfort food. I love Mama Chow's and while they are temporarily closed right now, I cannot wait for them to reopen. I will be first in line!

Yelp
Whenever they have a collaboration with Lawless BBQ and serve brisket with garlic noodles, I'm there! It is sooo good! I have yet to try their garlic shrimp with noodles but have a good feeling that it will be quite good as well.

Yelp
12/10!!! What can I say?? The famous mama chow food truck. Delicious and amazing!! The tofu was nice and fluffy like me. The lollipop wings were definitely fried perfectly where it was all white meat inside when you open it. Lots of flavor once you bite into it just like the garlic noodles. You will have garlic breath for like 2 days if you don't brush correctly but it's definitely worth it. I didn't really use the sauce that they provided because it already had a lot of flavors. Yum!! The service was great! The lady and the man in the back are super friendly and helpful if it's your first time there. There's a lot of seats to sit at. There's also a bar right next door in case you want to get a drink or something. Nice little area with a couple more food trucks to chill and vibe. Will definitely return here again when I go back! Thank you! Keep up with the great food!

Mia H.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go here for so long and was not disappointed at all when I finally did! Located in a food truck hall, the area is quite nice and has seating to dine after you've ordered your food. The owners of the truck were so kind and nice to talk to, and the service was overall pretty fast considering how busy they were (they cook the wings as you order them!). We ordered the wonton soup, garlic noodles with wings (iconic), and BBQ pork garlic noodles (which I didn't get a picture of). Everything was delicious. The wonton soup was so flavorful and plentiful of wontons that had delicious filling. The garlic noodles on both of the other entrees were so garlic-y, well-seasoned, and had you wanting more. Although the BBQ pork was delicious, it didn't stand out in any particular way. But!! The wings were definitely a must-try. They were crispy and saucy on the outside but also so soft and juicy on the inside. Highly recommend coming here and trying their garlic noodles & wings as well as their wonton soup!

Adina E.

Yelp
Fire!! The garlic noodles with chicken wings were off the chain, the noodles were a little dry but I liked that they weren't greasy and they had incredible flavor. But the wings knocked my socks off, I was not expecting them to be anywhere near that. Good. They were crispy and chewy and full of flavor and just beautiful to look at as well! I loved the employees as well. They are so friendly and fun to chat with!

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
I love mama chows and since earlier this year I have become a regular! The two chefs are always so helpful and check in on you after you eat even though it's a food cart! The garlic noodles are incredible and have the perfect chew! Plus you have a variety of toppings for whatever mood you are in! I recently had the garlic shrimp garlic noodles and I wish that they would add it to the menu full time! A must try in Portland!

Bre L.

Yelp
Best garlic noodles I can find out here in Portland. No figure the owner is from the bay. Hope they feel better soon.

Linda C.

Yelp
The food here is way better than a lot Chinese restaurants in Portland. They have a new location at a food cart pod near Division and 35th. It's great! We ordered the garlic noodles with lollipop wings. The wings were nice and crispy and had a tasty sauce. The garlic noodles were cooked just right and had a garlic chili oil sauce. They did a really good job on all of the noodles we ordered. We also had the wonton noodle soup, which came with noodles. The noodles were nice and firm, not squishy or overcooked. The wontons had a pork and shrimp filling, which was quite good. We also ordered the eggs with barbeque pork. They did a great job on that one, too. The eggs were fluffy, soft and moist. The owner, Jeff, named the cart after his mom, who owned a restaurant in Oakland Chinatown for 17 years. Many of the recipes are family recipes. Both he and Margaret were super friendly. They talked to us for awhile, and treated my mom with a mooncake in celebration of mid-Autumn festival. We look forward to going back to Mama Chow's. Next time, we want to order their barbecue pork again, which is marinated using their own special recipe.

Yelp
I have been eating here on and off for the last 10 years. What stopped me from coming here as often when downtown was the line for lunch, the secret got out very quickly and it got very crowded during peak hours. The menu has not changed very much in the last decade and neither has the quality. Everything is still freshly made and you can taste that, my last visit on dumpling week did not disappoint. Lastly the owner and other lady (I have never asked if they were personal and professional partners) are always so nice and efficient. Love seeing them as much as I love eating here.

Sharque A.

Yelp
Really great garlic noodles and friendly people - flavor is sooo delicious without being too rich. That little ramekin of sauce they put on the side is red gold. Tofu was fluffy and crispy like they air-fried it. I cleaned the whole plate. Overall, the Farmhouse cart pod has a great atmosphere - beautiful wood tables and structure, provides good shelter from the weather, and clean bathroom facilities.

Angel R.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I would, The BBQ Pork garlic noodles are so good, the pork is tender and not overly sweet like most places do it The garlic noodles have the perfect amount of flavor and the garlic isn't overbearing which is incredible! Support small business!!

Yelp
I wanted to try the dumplings at Mama Chow during dumpling week, but kept missing them! Then today I couldn't figure out what I was hungry to eat for brunch/lunch, and some dumpling soup suddenly seemed like just the ticket! I somehow got VERY lucky, and came in between two rushes. Lucky also because I knew I wanted the special chicken dumpling soup, but had odd ideas about what I wanted for the rice. I was that person who wanted something that wasn't on the menu. After initial confusion (because I sounded either crazy or dumb, or both), they helped me figure it out. At no point during my bumbling did they say anything to me or tell me it couldn't be done. Instead, they had a solution that was 100x better than I'd imagined! The wait was only as long as good food should take, which gave me a chance to see what else was coming out of the cart (I want to try it all!). I ordered it to take away, and headed home to put it all in nice bowls at home. I was eating both the soup (every bite was better than the last!), and the rice with egg and tofu (it was so good - flavor explosions!!), when my teenage son asked me what I had. I had offered it to him when I came in and got a "nah," but he now asked for some of each, noting how good it all smelled. I gave him his plate and bowl and watched him eat every last bite. I'm already dreaming about going back again.

Stuart M.

Yelp
This place looked pretty good and smelled good, but I was not expecting what we got. I ordered the garlic noodles with pork and a side of dumplings. The dumplings are some of the best I've ever had, and the chili dipping sauce that came with them was amazing. The garlic noodles did not disappoint, either; my wife thought they were the best part of the meal. I would probably feel the same if the dumplings hadn't been so good! I'm eager to go back. Service was friendly and helpful, too. Great spot! Note: If you like spicy food, make sure to say so. The general spice levels are low, but they will accommodate if you ask.

Iris L.

Yelp
finally got to try the infamous Mama Chows Kitchen! 10/10 recommend lollipop wings with garlic noodles. do mild level spicy and ask for a side of spicy sauce to amp it up at your comfort. Shrimp and pork wonton really hit the spot for me for comfort food and to cure my cold :) all made fresh and relatively short wait time 10 mins under, wings on the side was crispier than with garlic noodles so felt like that was a bummer. Portion size can be a little bit more but overall it's very good place to come on a lunch date or quick bite for lunch. Lots of seating space and just need to find parking on the inner streets. would definitely come again!

Yelp
I am obsessed with Garlic Noodles. As simple as it may sound, not the many Asian restaurants in the Portland area serve garlic noodles. I am originally from SF area and the garlic noodles scene is unparalleled where you have Perilla, Thanh Long, or Ben Tre all serving a delectable garlic noodle dish. When I discovered Mama Chow's through a friend's recommendation because I have been craving garlic noodles, I knew I had to try them. What I ordered: Lollipop Chicken Wings with Extra Spicy Garlic Noodles Mama Chow's Noodles takes me back to my time living in SF. The noodles are chewy and full of flavor and not too oily. Thankfully the lady taking my order that the spice level was adjusted to accommodate the typical American palette. The extra spicy was the perfect kick I needed to bring on the heat. Additionally, I am also a sucker for chicken wings and although the lady taking my order said that these weren't lollipop style, I absolutely loved the flavor of the honey soy garlic and the crispiness of the wing. Needless to say this was an awesome dish and I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
This place ticks all the boxes: food variety, flavors, and service. The woman who took our order was wonderful. She noticed I was with small children and made very thoughtful suggestions and amendments to our order to better satisfy our young & picky eaters. This is the kind of spot where I plan on trying the entire menu. It really lives up to the hype.

Aimee L.

Yelp
A great find in the Portland neighborhood maze. There are about four food trucks tucked into this alley off of the neighborhood. Parking is street only and at dinner time on a Friday meant about a two block walk parking in the neighborhood. Hey it's not downtown LA or SF so this is tame. It was 91 degrees so the food court was basking in the evening sun. Can't imagine it was comfortable in that little room where they were asking for 25 minutes and offering thanks for patron patience. I just read a Kindle book while I waited for my two orders of garlic noodles, one with chicken dumplings and one with lollipop chicken. They serve the noodles in compostable containers and paper bags which is super cool. I noticed the soup comes in a plastic container and they told the person ordering it not to let the noodles sit in the broth for long so I don't think those would survive my drive home. Sad about that since the soup looks awesome. Food is pretty good. Noodles are nicely chewy and the flavor comes in bursts where the sauce meets the medium. Dumplings were a little bland but BF enjoyed the wings. This place is really out of the way from work and home so I don't know when I'll return especially with their odd hours but it's great knowing tasty noodles are an option!

Marc F.

Yelp
Mama, just thrilled a fan Bohemian in his head Wing Rhapsody, now he's fed Mama, luck of the dragon And now I've gone the way of Wonton gourmet Mama, didn't mean to make you fry If I Respond, and Not React to veto Carry out, carry out, because Noodles really matter

S L.

Yelp
This place is outstanding and should have a brick and mortar. The food and the people making it are just amazing. I live in Seattle and we have a lot of great Asian food but this I dream about. We'll plan a trip down to Portland soon and I will always come here.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Highly recommend the garlic noodles! We got the lollipop chicken wings + garlic noodles combo for $14, and it was so good!!! The noodles were unfortunately cold when I ate them because it took a while to find a spot to eat them; they were still so good! I got my food with a medium level of spice, and it was definitely on the milder side just as the worker informed us. If you like spicy, then go higher (I myself am not good with spicy haha). The only downside is that there weren't many tables or chairs around the area that I could find. There was a small counter space with a couple chairs and then another chair near it, but these were taken. We walked from our parking spot in a garage a couple blocks down because I thought that parking might be hard to find around the area, but when we got there we saw many street parking spots nearby. The service was great - the woman who took our order was very friendly and kind. Please check this place out!! I'm looking forward to going back.

Yelp
I think the food is just OK. I got there at opening this time on a Thursday. They are pretty consistently sold out of dumplings even early in the day. I was disappointed not to be able to try. I did get the noodles and added protein. Good. The owner is super sweet and accommodating. But I showed up for dumplings.

Drew H.

Yelp
Long time fan of Mama Chow's! Used to go fairly often at their prior location but finally had a chance to go to their new spot. Always greated like an old friend. Food is unbelievably good. Love the garlic noodles with the dumplings (even better if you get them deep fried on Sundays). I love the crunchy garlicy chili oil and the fried scallions. The fried tofu has such a great crunch on the outside while the inside is smooth and creamy. You won't regret anything in the menu. But get there early as stuff sells out during the day.

Keizzel C.

Yelp
Mama Chow's where have you been in my foodie life!? After watching Mike Chen on his food blog rave around this food cart it's been a must visit for quite a while. It's been tough to check them out due their hours but one day we had the day off and made our way DT to finally check out their menu. Staff here is SOOO friendly as well and even though we were just taking to go we could see how they interacted with folks eating at the seats they had. They seem to have a lot of locals and regulars stop by as well and after trying their menu I can see why. Be sure to check out all the stickers on the side of the cart as you wait as well since that is how we were able to know they came from the bay with their Oaklandish stickers! For the trip we had to get a mixture of various items on their menu. - Pork & Shrimp Wonton Soup - Chicken Dumplings - Garlic Noodles with Fried Chicken They didn't have chicken lollipops on the menu during this visit but will need to come another time to finally check them off my list :( The favorite item was definitely the pork & shrimp dumplings in the wonton soup. They were super flavorful and you could get large bits of shrimp. Plenty of dumplings and the broth was so hot still by the time we got home to enjoy. The chicken dumplings were solid as well but the pork & shrimp were too good. For the garlic noodles & fried chicken they also pair some chili oil and sauce for you to take to go. The combination is great as the noodles provide a nice contrast to the super crispy skin of the fried chicken. Chicken was moist and nice portion size to enjoy your meal! Food was piping hot even when we got home which was wonderful.

Toria S.

Yelp
Made the fantastic decision to come on their grand re-opening during Portland's Dumpling week. I say that both with satisfaction and trepidation. We came prior to opening and had a Lunar New Year Chinese Dragon Dance with percussion and fireworks which was really fun! The fireworks were a surprise for dog owners and parents alike in the tiny courtyard. We were second in line and ended up waiting over 20 minutes for our food order so I feel bad for the folks who were behind us. Food was AMAZING, totally worth that wait! We got ourselves 2 orders of the Dumpling week special, the garlic noodles and their chicken wings. Those lollipop chicken wings (star-eyed face emoji)

Andrea M.

Yelp
Margaret and Jeff and some of the sweetest people and they make amazing food. They are my Friday treat and truly I leave satisfied every time. I am working through the menu and every item has been a hit. Fresh, hot, crispy, juicy, beautifully seasoned is an understatement when describing their meals. 10/10 every time!!!!

Alex A.

Yelp
Delicious food at a fair price. If love you that heat, this place can really spice it up. The noodles are soft and chewy. The chicken lollipops are a must. I usually ask for extra spicy to get my taste buds going. They can serve to your liking.

Lo W.

Yelp
I've been looking for a place that has garlic noodles as good as Star Noodle in Maui. I dream about them. I saw this place in my feed and decided to give it a try and Mama Chow's did not disappoint! These were so delicious. I could smell the garlic outside the cart, so I knew I was in for a treat. I ordered mine medium spice and it was fantastic, but I think next time I'd order it with mild or no spice just so I could really enjoy all that garlicky goodness. Very friendly also. Tip: They're moving Oct 19, 2022 to SE 35th Place and Division.

Kim M.

Yelp
Fantastic food & service! We stopped to check out Mama Chow's while we were waiting for our order from a food truck next door. A team of two runs this cart and be patient because they seem to be especially busy around lunch time - even on a random Wednesday. We ended up ordering the garlic noodle combo with chicken wings and Kalua pork - medium spicy & the wonton soup. We got our food in less than 10 minutes after paying and it was hot and fresh! Garlic noodle combo - ordered a large and it came with 4 wings and a generous heap of Kalua pork. The garlic noodles were super flavorful and not that spicy at all. The wings were cooked perfectly and had a satisfyingly crunchy skin. Pork and wings were still nice and moist inside! Honestly probably some of the most well cooked wings I have ever had. Wonton noodle soup - came with piping hot broth and 10 wontons. I only tried one wonton since we had plenty of other food, but the wonton I had was generously stuffed with big pieces of shrimp and ground pork. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Would highly recommend to anyone looking for some comforting HK/Chinese inspired cuisine.

TT B.

Yelp
Lordy Lordy The chicken wings with the garlic noodle were utterly delicious. If I were a rooster, I'd be crowing with food joy. Helpings are generous and the wings are as good as PokPok's Ike's wings( ) . Plan on making this cart a habitual stop.

Dan G.

Yelp
The BEST dumplings and garlic noodles in Portland. The wings are also tasty but get the dumplings!!

Michelle S.

Yelp
Stopped by the new food cart pod on 35th place and ate at Mama Chow's! I got the garlic noodle plate with lollipop wings and it was incredibly delicious. Such fantastic flavors and super lovely folks running it. Can't wait to return!

Sarah L.

Yelp
The garlic noodles with fried chicken thighs are out of this world! It was served steaming hot and the flavor is bomb.com! The noodles are cooked al dente and are cooked with a good amount of crispy chilis, shallots, and garlic. The fried chicken thighs are perfectly seasoned and juicy, fried with a thinly coated batter. The bok choy gives a good crunch with the noodles. Overall, the portion is perfect and this place is very generous with the amount of chicken per order. The owner is very friendly and service was fast. There's a side table and 2 chairs if you want to eat there. Definitely recommend this place!

Andrew V.

Yelp
Super nice people, with a FANTASTIC lollipop chicken recipe! You gotta try it! I got the chicken dumplings over garlic noodles, with a side of the lollipop chicken. The dumplings were pretty good, but not exceptional, though I loved the dipping sauce for them (almost like a spicy cherry bbq sauce, but not). Same with the garlic noodles: pretty good, but not to die for. But that lollipop chicken is special enough to bump this cart to 5 stars (okay, they are SUPER awesome people too, and that matters to me). It's hard to imagine it being better than it is. Good portion too. I will be going back for more and to try other items!

Wendy K.

Yelp
Do you want a bowl of comfort? Does comfort mean to you a delicate and warm and clear broth, with fresh veggies and succulent pillows of fresh dumplings? Then come to Mama Chow's! I have been coming to this cart for years while they were in their downtown location, but now with them in SE they are closer to my home and their hours have shifted to serve to the dinner and weekend crowd. I was informed that the hours were incorrect here on Yelp, but they have updated hours on their Instagram. The wonton soup has always been my go-to, and I add a bit of crushed chili oil (ask for it on the side) to introduce a bit of heat. Sipping on the soup, then munching on the veggies leaves me with the piece d'resistance, a pile of nummy wontons. Each one is expertly crafted, with a fresh noodle wrap and tender meat and shrimp that still have a perfect toothiness to finish out this hearty, but not gut-bomb, meal. I always feel satisfied and full, and my dinner mate had the garlic noodles...so tasty! Mama Chow's is a cart with a lot of heart, care, and delicious and wholesome food. Visit them for some tasty stuff!

Coey J.

Yelp
Best Garlic Noodles Ever! Damn does Mama Chows smack! Fast, super friendly service. I ordered the large portion and got 3 meals out of one bowl. Chicken wings were tasty and perfectly crispy. Chicken dumplings with the dipping sauce were full of flavor. Only thing I wish I did different was to order it a little more spicy. Can't wait to try the wonton soup!

Sylvia K.

Yelp
Checked out this new-to-me food cart in downtown and it was amazing!! First off, the lady (maybe Mama Chow herself??) was SUPER nice. I love her so much. She was busy multi-tasking between taking orders and handing out orders and doing whatever else inside (there was a dude inside cooking too) but she managed it effortlessly and was so friendly to all the customers in line! Everything on the menu sounded good, but I ultimately went with the pork+shrimp wonton soup and then an order of the chicken lollipops with garlic noodles (medium spicy). Payment was completely truly touchless - tapped my card and Mama Chow displayed the ipad/tablet but did the touching of the options for me so I wouldn't have to! She told me it would be about a 10-15 minute wait (which was perfect because I picked up food from another nearby food cart (first lunch) and ate that while I waited (it's called being efficient!). And then my second lunch from Mama Chow's was ready! The lady gave me a bag for all the food I had ordered and also gave me chopsticks and a soup spoon. The wonton soup was DELICIOUS. The wontons were filled with meat and cooked perfectly. I think the only thing that would make this soup even better is if it had noodles in it! The garlic noodles were really good! Strong garlic flavor and the spice level was great. And the chicken lollipops (which are chicken wings) were very tasty and the meat was so tender. The food was excellent - this cart has a few things on their menu and they do it strong. But the thing that put it above and beyond for me was the customer service. It really made an impression on me! Can't wait to go back to try the kalua pork next time!

Rachel D.

Yelp
Delicious! Definitely deserving of all the good reviews. My friend and I split the combo with kalua pork and chicken dumplings over garlic noodles. We got mild because my friend can't handle her spice sadly. But it was still delicious. Noodles are flavorful and garlicky. The kalua pork was great, super juicy, as were the dumplings. I think adding spice would make it even more amazing. The woman working was very nice. She even split the order into two different bowls (again, COVID) without charging extra. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu, or maybe get the same thing because it was yummy.

Christina S.

Yelp
wait, why can't i give more than 5 stars? I'm home from PDX and I already want mama chow's (low key wanted it later in the day after I had it, haha). I got the "small" 2-protein combo which consisted of the chicken dumplings (3) and the chicken wings (2) over mild spicy garlic noodles. The large combo just has more protein. I opted for mild since she offered to make it more spicy if I needed but mild had good flavor. The dumplings were okay on their own and better with the chili oil sauce. The chicken wings had good flavor and all the food came out at the right temp. We arrived a bit early after the saturday market and waited for them to open. They usually open at 11:30am but there was traffic and they ended up opening shortly after 12 and it was worth the wait.

Helen F.

Yelp
I love this place so much. Each time I come up to Portland for work, I have to come here. These guys hustle and are so nice. Amazing prices and serving potions. I love their wings. Better than Pok Pok, tbh. Their garlic noodles served with bok choy is excellent. I also sometimes get their fried tofu. I am so sad that they're moving to a new location, but happy for the growth. I guess I'll have to find a way there.

Yelp
Came here for Chinese new year. Got to see the show and got the wonton chicken noodles soup and chicken wings. Overall decent place for lunch, however the queue to put in the order was really long, Took about 45 minutes!

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly and helpful service. It's located in a nice little food pod that is attached to an air conditioned cider house where customers of the food pod are welcome to take refuge.

Yelp
I've always wanted to visit Pok Pok. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to visit while they were open. From what I read, Mama Chow served up some tasty wings and they came with noodles. Well I also love noodles so I had to give this place a try. Service was quick and friendly. Soon came a nice large tray of noodles with I believe 6 or 7 large wings. Well they're called lollipops for good reason. The chicken was everything I had hoped for. Crispy, sour with a little sweet. Cooked perfectly. The garlic noodles were excellent. In my opinion this can be a dish that is not easy to make. Too much garlic would overpower this dish. Not enough wouldn't compliment the chicken. The garlic was cooked perfectly with the noodles adding a sweet and savory roasted garlic flavor to accompany those delicious chicken wings/lollipops. All of that for under $15.00 dollars and I think that is one of the best deals in Portland!

Yelp
We visited Mama Chow's in the Farmhouse Cart's food carts a while back. The garlic noodles were amazing! No garlic for our daughter and normal for us! So good! And we really enjoyed the beer and atmosphere of Farmhouse Carts!

Yelp
All around 10/10 experience! Margaret and Jeff are the best! My boyfriend and I were visiting Portland, and I was so excited to try their lollipop chicken and garlic noodles. I'm very sensitive to dairy, and they were able to make my garlic noodles without butter. Even before getting my food, I was already having the best experience because Margaret is such a kind and friendly lady! We really enjoyed talking to her. Then, once we got our food it was just the icing on the cake. The food was delicious!!!! Compliments to Jeff the chef! Definitely a must when in Portland

Yelp
Mama Chow's never disappoints. If I have the opportunity to swoop downtown during the day and get these Garlic Chicken Lollipops then I'd be a happy girl always. The flavor always hits well and pair it with their garlic noodles and you've got yourself a garlic heaven treat. They always sell out too so make sure to get their early and the line is worth the wait. I recently went there for dumpling week and even with the mad amount of people being there, they had such great customer service. I would full on recommend supporting this awesome small business and enjoying everything they have to offer.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this cart for a while now and finally got the chance to go downtown for lunch. Ordered the chicken dumplings, garlic noodles and lollipop wings. Everything was fantastic! Best dumplings I've had in Portland. Wings were so juicy inside with a crunchy exterior. So much garlic in the noodles with great chew. I'll be coming back to try the shrimp dumplings. Customer service was amazing, they really look out for you and make you feel welcome. Portland is lucky to have this gem.

Yelp
The garlic noodles are magic and I think about them way more than I should. Go early as they sell out of popular items and expect a wait - totally worth it.

Yelp
The only word I have is WOW. Mama Chow's was absolutely phenomenal. I had seen it featured before in some food review videos on YouTube and wanted to give it a try when in Portland. I arrived around 1:30 PM on a Thursday and got the last of the chicken thighs they had. I would definitely recommend coming earlier to have the moist choice possible from their menu as they only had wontons, kalua pork, and the one order of chicken thighs left. I wanted to try the garlic noodles but they were sold out for the day, so they substituted it with garlic fried rice. It was a huge portion for $13 and easily fed two people. The chicken was so succulent and tender, but had such an amazing crunch. The rice was extremely flavorful as well and had lots of good texture within it too. The sauce on the side, in my opinion, was the star of the show. I would put that sauce on anything and everything. It was a soy honey garlic type of sauce that they provided to dip the food in. Service was awesome and the woman taking orders was super kind and nice. There are also two seats on the side of the food cart if you want to eat there. Definitely going to try and come back to try the garlic noodles before I leave Portland! Make sure to come try this food cart out.

Yelp
Wow. This place has been on my list to try for a while now, but I'm almost never downtown during a weekday lunch time. This was my lucky day. I had ordered food at JPanini only to turn around and see Mama Chow's so I had to get something. I ordered a combo bowl with the garlic noodles, chicken dumplings and the Kahului pork. All delicious. Those garlic noodles were perfectly garlicky. You could smell it even with the lid closed and see all the bits of garlic mixed in. This is what I want when I order something - tons of garlic. I'm in love. I'm just sad I don't work downtown!
