The Best Vegan Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Mamak Vegan Kitchen is owned by the same family behind popular Buford Highway Malaysian restaurant Mamak at Asian Square. The restaurant, located on Chamblee Tucker Road, includes a dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu of select Mamak dishes, like mee goreng noodles tossed with fried tofu, a vegan char kway teow, and spicy rendang made with Beyond Meat. There’s also a selection of vegan soups, such as coconut and the tamarind-based assam, as well as appetizers like fried curry potato pies and Beyond Meat satay skewers." - Beth McKibben

Mamak Vegan Kitchen Opens in Chamblee, Botanico Opens in Buckhead, Machu Picchu Peruvian Opens in Brookhaven, Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Owned by the same team behind Buford Highway Malaysian restaurant Mamak at Asian Square and a forthcoming food stall at the Collective food hall at Coda in Midtown, I found Mamak Vegan Kitchen on Chamblee Tucker Road offers an all-vegan and vegetarian menu with several Mamak dishes: mee goreng tossed with fried tofu, a vegan char kway teow, and a spicy rendang made with Beyond Meat. There’s also a selection of vegan soups such as coconut and the tamarind-based assam, along with appetizers like fried curry potato pies and Beyond Meat satay skewers." - Beth McKibben

I was recently visiting Atlanta on a solo trip and was excited to see that there was an all vegan Malaysian restaurant, as I'd really enjoyed Malaysian-Thai fusion food when I went to Thailand. I took the train from Midtown to Chamblee and then walked almost a mile each way to and from the restaurant, which is in a strip mall. It was pretty tasty. I had the butterfly pea tea (make sure to squeeze lemon in it to make it change from blue to purple!), chick’n satay, and Chow Kway Teow. The chik'n satay was average. The noodles/ tofu dish was a bit peppery for my tastes, so I ordered a side of peanut sauce to put on top. Very ample portions! I would eat here again and try different menu items.

Hidden gem, all foods we ordered were very good. Servers were extraordinarily nice and attentive. The restaurant is maintained meticulously, very clean. Will definitely visit again.

I love the food at Mamak. But only food. Second time happened to us- we close at 9pm. Ok. Last order - 830pm. Ok. A party of 5. We order by 830pm, food arrives by 840-845pm (about 8 dishes), and they are at our table at 8.55pm- we are closing. Pay first. Leaving our food- we all oblige. They start clearing our table without asking!!!! And I ask- can we finish our food? The Answer of the server- NO!!! We close at 9pm!! In this case- the last order should be at 8pm and has to be clearly mentioned on their website and Google!! How am I expected to finish my dinner in 15-20 minutes at a sit-down restaurant? And this has happened twice now! Such a let down, disgraceful experience! What u see in the pictures was the leftover food packed in boxes

This was my first experience with Malaysian food and oh my god!! It was great!! Being vegan was the icing on the cake. The good was to perfection - flavorful, lower in salt, and fun. Yes the food was fun. I had fried rice made with diced tofu & mushrooms, peas, carrots and corn, no egg replacement! It was so good!!! The chicken satay was crispy and soft inside. It totally tricked my family into thinking it was real chicken. They even like tofu now. I highly recommend trying them out. For the hardcore meat eaters they have a parent restaurant called Mamak. They serve actual meat they are non-vegan.

Plenty of Parking outside. The place has beautiful Ambience and service is good. They have a long menu with variety of choices and everything Vegetarian so no worries. Tried Mee Goreng Noodles and Honey Tangerine Chicken with white rice and both were delicious and fulfilling. Portion size is good compared to price. Restroom was clean. Overall a great find.

Worth the price. Food is delicious, a bit spicy, even the low spice. Potato roti was delicious. German chocolate cake, is just chocolate cake with whipped topping more of a trifle, could do better on it.
