ordered the Caesar salad, salmon avocado toast, a pistachio croissant, and a latte. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The salmon toast was perfectly seasoned with a great balance of creaminess and citrus. The Caesar salad was crisp and not overly dressed, which I appreciated. The pistachio croissant was the highlight—flaky, buttery, and filled just right. My latte was smooth and comforting. It’s a great spot to catch up with friends or just enjoy a peaceful solo brunch. Service was friendly and quick even though it was a bit busy. Highly recommend for a cute brunch in the city!

We walked into a very busy Maman and were seated within 5 minutes at the max. Toby was the best from start to finish! Now, we did indulge by having beautiful hot drinks in the form of an amazing oranges blossom cappuccino and a London Fog tea. We followed those with a pear Bellini and an espresso martini. The drinks were excellent! Now the food was just as good. I had the ratatouille and I can’t tell you how much you need this in your life! It was delicious! The bacon egg and cheese croissant was the most delicious croissant sandwich I’ve ever tasted. And since we were just simply being glutinous, we followed all of this with the lemon meringue croissant cube. A perfect end to this amazing meal. Food = excellent, service= exceptional.

We went there on a Friday late morning for brunch and we were a party of four. They do have indoor and outdoor seatings. You need to order first before you will get a seat if you want to dine in. Food was good but nothing special in my opinion it was your typical dishes for brunch but nothing stood out of unique. Service was good and welcoming. Indoor seatings there seats are somewhat close and it’s not that comfortable. I’d visit again to try their pastries.

We visited Maman for Sunday brunch, drawn in by its charming ambiance and menu. From the moment we arrived, the experience started on a high note. The host and our server were both incredibly attentive and welcoming, creating a relaxed and friendly vibe that really stood out. The menu offered a solid selection of brunch staples with a French twist, and everything looked promising. Unfortunately, the execution didn’t quite live up to expectations. The omelet was overcooked and lacked the light, fluffy texture you hope for. We were especially looking forward to the ratatouille, which came in a skillet—a nice touch—but it wasn’t hot, which made it less enjoyable. With a bit more attention to temperature and preparation, the food could match the level of service.

Great place for brunch! Being part of the chain easy to find in many areas. The food is good and the portions are generous. Coffee is amazing for my taste. Croissants are great for when you still crave something sweet, highly recommended!

Google
Had lunch here while I was visiting the Natural History Museum. The place can be busy during lunch time and it's quite small inside but we managed to find a table. I had the tuna sandwich on a baguette. It was really good and the baguette was crispy which is important for me as a French person. My Husband tried the salmon tartine which was good too. I also had the matcha lemonade and it was refreshing and tasty. It's nice that they have some unique limited edition drinks. I would love to come back again to try their pastries and cakes. It looked delicious!

Google
Food looked delicious but the omelette was so salty and the bowls had a ratio of too many potatoes to other ingredients. Baked items were as delicious they appeared and coffee drinks were good as well. We had to bus our table but the atmosphere was cozy and very French.

Google
The food is superb and the vibes are too. Come alone. Come with your girlfriends. Come with your mom. Come with your mom’s girlfriends. I mean you can’t go wrong just bring them all! Can recommend the avocado toast (but eat it warm and ask for the egg to be runny) and the chocolate croissant (only warm because there’s just no other way that it can properly be eaten than warmed). Come with a book or with some work or with a great playlist (or borrow theirs). But just come and enjoy the mood and the food.

Yelp
Maman on the Upper West Side is a true gem! We had the pleasure of visiting recently and were impressed by the experience. We started with a rich espresso and followed by some truly indulgent treats. The chocolate brownie was decadently moist, the pistachio and lemon cake had a delightful balance of flavors, and the babka chocolate cake was simply heavenly. The ambiance was charming and cozy, with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. While there's no table service, the servers behind the counter were kind and helpful. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee or to indulge in some delicious pastries, Maman is a must-visit on the UWS.

Yelp
Came for brunch on the weekend, and surprisingly didn't have to wait for a table! It's first come first serve, so if there's an open table you can just grab a seat. A server will come by to take your order. I ordered the Belgium Waffles & they were so buttery & yummy. It's topped with an apple and corn sauce on top - I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. The Breakfast Bowl is nothing special but so tasty - it comes with potatoes, avocado & bacon. The matcha latte was okay, tasted kind of bland and the matcha flavor didn't come through too much. The pistachio chocolate croissant on the other hand was unique and I would come back for that! Overall cute brunch spot with floral decor, good for catching up with a friend or a casual brunch!

Yelp
I always know it's going to be a good day if I go to maman! First of all, their bakery case it to die for - a heavenly assortment of cookies, croissants, doughnuts, etc. Just looking at it is such a serotonin boost. And their coffee is very very delicious - my favorite is a classic iced mocha! I would recommend the pistachio croissant, nutella beignet, strawberry almond croissant, and their standard chocolate chip cookie. Another note - their food menu is quite delicious as well!! The ambience is gorgeous always - beautifully decorated, beautiful flowers, and lovely china to serve the dishes. Everyone working there is so kind and helpful always! If you find yourself near a maman, do yourself a favor and stop by. In the wise words of Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford: Treat yo'self!

Yelp
This is a a great place for those seeking refuge from the bitter cold of New York winters. The cafe itself is really lovely. However, be warned: it's always crowded, and finding a seat can feel like a free-for-all. We mistakenly waited around assuming table service, only to realize it's self-seating - a bit chaotic. The pastries themselves are very aesthetically pleasing from behind the glass. Maybe it was because we arrived a bit later in the day, but some of the desserts were a bit stale. I'm curious to see if the same would happen if we arrived earlier in the day. Overall a nice place to catch up and chat with friends. The strongest point is it's ambience.

Yelp
Honestly I was underwhelmed! The outdoor seating is nice and so were the staff, but these cookies just had all the wrong ratios for me

Yelp
A nice cozy place to have breakfast great coffee, options, amazing pastries, and greet food dish options. The ambience is very quaint. Love this place.

Yelp
I absolutely love this location! I come here after dance class and get their delicious quiches and matcha. The staff is super attentive and ensures my order is always correct and out in a timely manner

Yelp
Great experience at Maman this am - Americano and pain au chocolat were great - there were two people staffing who were super helpful and friendly

Yelp
LOVED the breakfast I had here with a friend! Super cute spot and amazing food and staff.

Yelp
This is such a cute and quaint cafe in the upper west side. We had planned to go to the Hayden planetarium at the American national history museum and wanted to get a quick bite before that. Maman was the perfect spot as it located with a 8 minute walk of the museum. Maman is such a pleasant space with a nice indoor and outdoor seating. Our host was really nice and got us promptly seated upon arrival. We ordered the carol's tomato basil soup, smashed avocado tartine, granola parfait and the honey lavender latte. Everything was so fresh and tasted amazing. I love the beautiful cup that the latte was give in. You can tell the restaurant puts a lot of attention to details and aesthetics. Overall we had a wonderful dining experience and would love to visit again.

Yelp
5 stars for the look and the ambiance of the place, but the cheesecake croissant itself was something of a disappointment. I don't know if it's because it was the end of the day, but the croissant texture was somewhat stiff and dry. The outer crust of chocolate crumble, along with the orange-tinged flavoring, and the cheesecake interior itself, however, were excellent. The pastry itself is really cleverly conceived and it looked gorgeous. Just wish it tasted as good as it looked. All said, though, seems like a good place to hang out.

Yelp
Our daughter took us out for a lovely lunch. My wife and I had the Croque Maman sandwich and it was delicious! The Parisian ham and melted comte' cheese on fresh sourdough bread was amazing!

Yelp
I think I had really big expectations going into Maman and maybe that's why I was a little let down? This location is particularly small and I had to wait ~30min for a table on a rainy day. I got a pumpkin spice latte and an almond croissant (which looked amazing) but both were just ok. I thought the latte taste like a regular sweetened latte and I've had a lot better almond croissants that have the nice, moist texture that make them delicious. However, the interior is really nice, the service was great and my friend really enjoyed her drink. All that to say, I think I'd give it another try but it is on the pricier side and so I don't think it'd somewhere I'd frequent. They do Too Good To Go if anyone is into that and if you download their app you get a discount on your visit (I think $5 off) which was nice!

Alyssa K.

Yelp
I have ordered Maman mainly through the Too Good To Go app which is a discounted food app. I typically get 3-4 pastries per order. I've tried several of their pastries and all are delicious. The best thing I've eaten and stand out was I believe the kouign maman. It was a round pastry with a hole in the middle and sweet syrup on the bottom. Simple ingredients and executed so well. They also service actual meals and coffee but I have not tried those. The staff are always very friendly and prompt. The interior decor is different at every store and GORGEOUS. If I were a person who needed to do work in a coffee shop, I'd hands down always choose Maman for the incredible vibes. Highly recommended for pastries.

Jamie S.

Yelp
We went there for breakfast on a weekend in NYC and we had the best experience. Our server was so so nice, he was on top of it the whole time. Food came out so quick and everything was delicious. At the end, a very sweet girl gave us a beautiful drink because she saw my girlfriend taking pictures throughout our meal and they made her one so she could practice. We felt so welcome and it made our entire day. We highly recommend them.

Yelp
Maman is always a fav for me in the city. They have the best lattes and the best ambiance - it's so cute! (Also the pistachio croissants are literally the BEST)

Yelp
Pros Small &intimate aesthetics Outside seating Windows seating Branding galore Lovely pastries Friendly staff Quick service Delicious pastries Standard food available Cons Zero

Esther D.

Yelp
First of all, the restaurant is really cute on the inside and has a very nice vibe and seems baby/family friendly. The people working there were very nice. The pastries looked good but the glass around it was a bit opaque. The avocado toast had a beautiful presentation and was fresh, but unfortunately the flavors were flat. I don't think the bread was even toasted and the diced tomatoes on it were not very good. The coffee was just ok. They don't allow laptops which is interesting. I guess it's so people will talk to each other but they just end up using their phones instead. I waited about 10 minutes for the bathroom which was clogged by the person who was in there before me. That's no fault of the restaurant, but it added to the overall experience. I spent the rest of the day having food envy over the other places I did not go to instead.

Yelp
This is my 500 review hence I better make it a good one. While I reflected on this past year, I enjoyed a delicious chocolate chip cookie and hot chocolate from this restaurant. The waitress who served me was very helpful. She suggested the house's special hot chocolate and the nutty chocolate chip cookie. Moreover, she didn't rush me to leave the communal table even though I was there for a while. She made me smile with her cheerful "Happy Holidays!" Thus, I give this restaurant 5 stars. The service was excellent. Moreover, the hot chocolate and cookie exceeded my expectations.

Yelp
I'd prefer not to be writing this review. Like my fellow UWSiders, I'm busy. But it would be morally negligent for me to remain silent. I've had my two worst service experiences in New York, both at this Maman. I waited a year in between, thinking, perhaps, the first was an anomaly. The only anomaly is this Maman's location on Amsterdam Avenue. The first (in short): it took ten minutes to receive a lukewarm, very watered down, very overpriced cup of coffee. I drink a lot of coffee. Perhaps too much coffee. I told the barista that the coffee was watered down. After some back and forth, she finally relented and made another batch. I waited another ten minutes. The verdict: I would have much preferred the coffee at Bluestone Lane, just a few doors down. The second (again, in short): it took twenty minutes to receive a scone and a coffee, which I only received upon reminding the barista of my order (I was told to wait in the same area as the line--the space is quite cramped--which resulted in much shifting confusion). The coffee, again, was a little cool. The scone made up for in oil what it lacked in taste. I'd honestly prefer Panera. Don't let Maman's charming Parisian aesthetic fool you. The UWS location's branch takes the worst elements of Paris--its speed of service, its lack of air conditioning, its sometimes impertinent staff--without taking any of its culinary traditions. Recommended only as a recommendation to an enemy as a particularly cruel and unusual punishment. Dante was never able to reach this circle of Hell. Though, perhaps Trump would enjoy.

Yelp
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at this location at all; I've had the chocolate chip cookies from other locations and it was great, but this location did not live up to our past experience. We ordered a tartine au saumon tartine for takeaway, walked 15min in the cold back to our apartment only to find that we were given an avocado smash. We called, went back for a redo, so another 15min walk to and back, only again to find our salmon sandwich had no microgreens as noted in the description. So nearly an hour later, our other order long cold, and we didn't get what we were expecting and everything was quite expensive. We won't be going to this location again.

Yelp
Maman offers standard brunch items that are fairly good! I got the breakfast bowl, idk what I was expecting but it's basically just a bunch of potatoes with a little flair, and at a price I think is a little steep. Vibes are great though and super cute, I will say this is a place I would be comfortable taking a wide range of people. Coffee is good!
google avatar

Ginny L.

Yelp
I just had their pistachio chocolate croissant and the Paris to New York Croissant, both decadent pastries. The pistachio chocolate croissant was excellent. The pistachio cream filling was likely an artificially colored green but tasted smooth and like custard. The chopped pistachios on the top were a really nice touch. The Paris to New York Croissant was fabulous but only in small bites. The dark filling is almost like fudge but not too sweet. I got the pastries to go and the counter service was fine. It is a clean nice place to order from.

Yelp
Maman is a cafe, bakery, and restaurant with multiple locations throughout NYC. Serving favorites from the south of France and North America. A beautiful space with floral and vintage decor.

Yelp
Came in last week after having a late lunch / early dinner nearby. There's a Maman close to where I live and the pastries are so I wanted to pick up something sweet. There weren't many options when I went in around 5, but the croissant I got (raspberry? Not totally sure) was really yummy and exactly what I wanted. It did feel a little stale but I'll chalk that up to the hour. I'm sure it would have been better with a quick toast but I still devoured it. I've had lunch at a different location and really enjoyed it, so seems like Maman does it all well!
google avatar

Yelp
Great study spot. Love the plates and cups. The rouge Provence tea was decent. Will come back or to other locations to try more things on the menu.
google avatar

Sawako Y.

Yelp
Maman's cookies are so addictive! And I love their warm atmosphere and stylish interior. I've had the White Chocolate Raspberry Rose Cookie at another location, which I absolute loved. My plan was just to have a bite, but it was so delicious I ended up eating the whole cookie. Today, I tried the Lemon Poppyseed Cookie, which was also delightful. It was heavier and more like a cookie/cake in-between. I also had a bite of the famous Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookie. I'm not a huge fan of nuts in cookies, though, so I personally preferred the others. I've only had take-out, so I'm looking forward to dining in person soon :)
google avatar

Dipali G.

Yelp
I love the baked goods at maman so decided to get a pastry with cold brew via an online order. The app gave me incorrect information about when the order was ready. I also found the coffee to be really bitter.
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
I really like Cafe Maman at other locations. I ordered a drink. When it did not come after 15 minutes, the woman said she forgot to make it and then proceeded to make me a wrong drink. When I told her that this was not what I ordered, she told me that I'd better be saying that I told her wrong, not that she got it wrong. She the said I was wrong in my order I took the drink and threw it away and did not engage. I hope management can work on some customer service!

Erica F.

Yelp
Even though I love their coffees I have to point out the person at the counter. She is always at the register and never say hi or good morning, she is not pleasant. I order a coffee and I wanted to order a pastry but she told me the price of the coffee without asking if we want something else. She has the worst attitude to be a person in front of the house. Also my coffee today was not made as Maman standard. Having a barista strives for good coffee and this is just unacceptable.
google avatar

Jani M.

Yelp
I really enjoyed it here! I love the ambiance and the theme of this coffee, bakery, kitchen. They had a lot of different lunch options (which I regret not trying). All the pastries were delicious , but the pistachio orange olive cake was by far my favorite. Prices are so-so, it's what you get for being in NYC and it's such a pretty cafe. The service was outstanding, we weren't planning on staying, but they served us our drinks and food at the table we sat at. I'll definitely go back and try some of their lunch options!
google avatar

Taryn C.

Yelp
I'm just...not impressed. The chocolate pistachio croissant was amazing. But that's where that description ends. I had the Papa's Breakfast Bowl. The items: roasted potatoes, bourbon bacon bits, sunny side egg, avocado and Chipotle aioli. Sounds promising right? I ordered on seamless, for pickup. The food wasn't warm at all. Obviously it had been cooked. I'm not Expecting it to the piping hot. But the seamless order has a choice for "not warm." Why TF would anyone get this served cold?! And just say NO to the honey lavender latte. It was quite possibly the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. I tried a matcha latte as well. This place is just not good. Seriously, how does this place gets such rave reviews? Sucks because I was dying to try this place.
google avatar

Cassie M.

Yelp
The pastries at maman are always great, but was shocked at how poor the quality is for the criminal prices charged. The salad filled about 2/3 of the bowl and had 2 pieces of chicken and was also missing the croutons. I pointed this out to staff that there was a noticeable gap and they said yeah the menu changed it doesn't have croutons anymore without offering to fill the empty space. The sandwich had about 3 pieces of arugula, virtually no red pepper and one piece of chicken.

Yelp
I really enjoy this quaint, rustic and homey feeling spot. They have some of the best pastries around!! I love to see them come fresh and hot out of the kitchen. There is a real community feeling with a large wooden table in the middle - they encourage talking with others. I love that. I ordered my Americano with chocolate. It was good. The croissant was delicious!! I can't wait to try some of the food. I will definitely remand recommend this cozy spot.
google avatar

Cathy V.

Yelp
Great place for a latte and baked goods. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and my seat by the window. Excellent and extensive menu for all. Looking forward to coming back for another way to start a good morning in NYC.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
This place serves good cappuccino and food but be ready to wait at least 15 minutes for your order, even if it's just a cappuccino, and even if there is no one in line in front you and the place seems half empty. happens to me at this location all the time
google avatar

Vibhu K.

Yelp
very cute spot with great decor and wide selection of baked goods. not the most vegan friendly (1 baked goods option - lemon poppyseed cookie) and 1 menu option (chili) besides a bare bones avocado toast as far as I could tell. Cappuccino was made with whole milk and had to be re done. Surcharge for alt milk. Would return more for atmosphere than for the food / coffee. They use parlor coffee beans which are always delicious! However, the pour was not as neat as it should've been and foam on top was poorly textured.
google avatar

Ryn E.

Yelp
My comfort meal!!!! I love the Papa's Breakfast Bowl with a chocolate pistachio croissant and an iced honey lavender latte. Especially after weekend workout classes - or just weekends in general. Also so many delicious pastries and I always bring friends/family here when they visit. Awesome spot!

Brigette B.

Yelp
I really wish I could give this place 3.75, but I'll round up :) this place is a great little quick bites, however it is a little over priced for what it is. I had the Tartine Au Saumon and I will say it was quite tasty. I really like the labneh on the bread, but it didn't blow me away. It was definitely good and I would get it again but was it necessarily worth $15? Probably not haha The place itself is real cute, love the white and blue theme. I would say I've been to the one in the east side as well, and for whatever reason the food on the west side one seems to be better. Not sure why or how but it just seems to be a bit better. The staff was lovely, all very nice and sweet. Our food came out quickly which was a plus. The coffee is pretty good too! They have lots of options of different milks which is always nice!

Vionnna L.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. Everything about this cafe is just beautiful and gorgeous. I love their extensive list of pastries and their food items, BUT I just felt like it was one of those places where the food looks better than it actually is. The pineapple mango croissant roll that I got was just plain stale. I felt like it had been sitting out for at least two-three days. It had so much potential to taste amazing if it were fresh, which is such a shame because I could tell it was well made. Paying $6 for a stale pastry is just not okay. I also got the Papa's breakfast bowl, which was actually decent. I mean, who does love potatoes with bacon, eggs, and caramelized onions? You can't really mess that up. It's a good breakfast option on the menu, but I don't think it is worth $15, given that the amount in the bowl itself wasn't very much. Overall, I feel like this place is just...okay. It's not terrible, but I was disappointed and expecting more given that I've heard such great things about this place.

Yelp
4 stars mainly for food and cuteness of place. For the time it takes to get an order more like 2-3 stars. Service seems to be the reason for many 1 star reviews. I've given this place a try on 2 separate occasions. The first time I grabbed a honey lavender latte and almond croissant. I enjoyed both! This visit it took a LONG time to get these 2 items! I had to wait for 5 people to order before me and then wait for my drink. They clearly needed more than 1 person making coffees! On my second visit I ordered a bunch of pastries and a specialty drink. Of course we had the nutty chocolate chip cookie. Amazing! The white chocolate raspberry rose cookie tasted more like cheesecake than white chocolate. The Nutella beignet is one to try. I haven't had a beignet in awhile but this tasted more like a jelly donut except with Nutella. Our least favorites were the loafs; they were very dry which was disappointing. I wouldn't bother ordering those again. I ordered one of the seasonal specialty drinks. You really have to look hard to find where they have a menu of these drinks. It was too milky of a drink for me but that's on me for choosing that latte over the other option. Next time I hope to have breakfast there!

Andrew M.

Yelp
The staff are so friendly here. I just started coming to Maman recently and they were good at giving food and drink recs. This is definitely my go to local cafe at the moment and worth a try.

Naomi M.

Yelp
We went to breakfast at Amsterdam and 81st. First they filled our order wrong, putting bacon in a sandwich that was supposed to be meatless. No apology. She took it away but never came back with the new sandwich. When we went to ask, it turned out they hadn't even started it after 15 minutes. No refund, no apologies. Terrible place with very rude idiotic staff

Elyse A.

Yelp
Negative service experience I ordered a scone in the am when they were not very busy and waited over 20 minutes. Asked the host to check if my order was coming out and she did not, and only until I asked another staff member did they find that order had never been passed to the kitchen so I eventually left with a cold pastry 20 minutes later. Great to sit down, horrible place to stop and pick up a pastry.

Leanna W.

Yelp
SO excited that they finally opened a location here in the UWS!! I love everything about maman -- from the classic blue and white design to the pastries here! Might be an unpopular opinion but I think arguably, they carry one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city!! (Although they taste best warm and sometimes they can be a bit cold after sitting out all day) I also really like their chocolate pistachio croissant and hazelnut donut. Another fun thing is that they have plenty of seasonal baked goods which is always a nice surprise! Definitely dangerous now that I live so close to a Maman If anyone uses the app too good to go, Maman also participates in it and if you can snag a bag, you get a really good deal -- about $5 for 3 of their pastries!
google avatar

Lucas B.

Yelp
What an awesome place! From distinctly unique pastries to the sophisticated international clientele, this place rocks!
google avatar

Candi K.

Yelp
A great place to ease yourself into the morning if you can snag a table (come before 8:30am and you might even get the window table). But even by 9am their seating area still looks leisurely. Their chocolate almond croissant is now my favorite (Orwashers dropped from my number 1 after shrinking their croissant size and being too frugal with the chocolate). Maman's is buttery and flaky on the outside with lots of chocolate and marzipan spread evenly inside, even the last bite has a generous bit of chocolate.

Yelp
Exceptional service. Lovely seasonal drinks and treats. Delicious bread with my chicken salad sandwich.

Yelp
Food and ambiance is great. Pastries are like no other. Friendly and cute surroundings
