I recently visited Mama's Bar, and it was a fantastic experience. The place has a cozy vibe that's perfect for a chill night out. Mama's Bar has a warm and inviting feel. It's not too fancy, just a great spot to relax and enjoy yourself. The staff at Mama's Bar are super friendly and attentive. They made me feel welcome. Quick service and genuine to make my night great. The drink selection at Mama's Bar is good. Classic cocktails cool place with a friendly vibe, great service, and awesome drinks. Whether you're out with friends or on a date, it's a solid choice for a laid-back and enjoyable night. I recommend checking it out!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but it was perfect for playing some card games - a quintessential dive bar. I wanted to give a special shoutout to our bartender Josh. We wanted cocktails and without the right ingredients he did his absolute best to improvise and the drinks turned out AMAZING, genuinely some of the best we’ve ever had and he is so so nice and friendly, checking in on us throughout the night. Can’t wait to be back for their game night!

Came here because they had Pickleback shots and my,friends really wanted to have them. They were good, came at the right time on a Monday because it was trivia night. The losers of the first round got a free fireball shot. Good place.

Great drinks and atmosphere. Super awesome and professional bartenders. The atmosphere they create is part of the reason why we keep coming back. Would highly recommend for good drinks and a fun night.

Cheap drinks and good music, but the bartender on Saturday night was not hygienic at all. The bar was not that busy so the one bartender was in the corner talking to what seemed to be regulars. She was obviously sick, and one of the regulars even offered to bring her soup the next day to help her feel better. Despite her being sick and constantly blowing her nose and touching her nose, she did not wash her hands at all. I ordered a vodka soda when she had a tissue up her nose, she went ahead and made it, did not wash her snotty hands at all, and grabbed a straw for my drink with those unclean hands as well. This is very unprofessional and unsafe. I now feel like im coming down with a sore throat and illness, probably because her germs transferred from her blowing her nose to making my drink and touching my straw.

Used to be a dive, but now it's an upmarket dive. Happy hour til 8. Projector for games. Food from Root & Bone. Trivia on Tuesdays. Friendly crew.

I loved this place. I had a lot of fun with great drinks. The bartender was awesome, the music was fun and the people there made our time eventful.

Back here for trivia Tuesday after what seems like forever. Mama's less crowded than I recall, and yet it seems to be as loud as before (for better or for worse). I ordered Luna's Choice which is Malibu rum based and contains pineapple juice and cranberry juice. It is as dive-y and before, and either you love it, or you don't!

After being at the bar for an hour, the bartender kicked us out for no apparent reason. She got security involved. We were all very confused but complied and ordered Ubers immediately. They wouldn't let us wait inside for our Ubers and made us fully leave. We were the only people at the bar and after we left she started cleaning up and shutting down the bar. She could have just told us it was closing time I have no idea why security needed to be involved. I won't be coming back.

Love the service this place offers. They are so polite and the place is always clean. The women are really sweet!! The price for children mani pedi is nice and my daughter loves getting her nails done here as well. Got my birthday nails done here they pampered me and made me feel amazing.

This was a horrible experience. Me and my two friends came to the bar on Super Bowl Sunday excited to watch the game and were rudely turned away by the bartender that claimed our IDs were "fake"?? She said because our IDs were out of state from different states that they were fake. This is NYC- everyone is from everywhere! We asked her to scan our IDs and she said there was no scanner?? What kind of establishment that serves alcohol doesn't have a scanner? This bar clearly needs to work on reading IDs and customer service. They just turned away 3 customers that will never be returning nor will any of their friends.

Perfectly divey blasting crazy music. The bartender shared his Doritos and guac with me and my friend. I'm coming back!

Here's another stop during our Halloween bar crawl , not a very big place & it was crazy jammed packed.. what a mess. barely any room to move let alone alone stand & have drinks, we manage to get drinks, stuck to beer & had some Stella & Jello shots since they were part of the special during the bar crawl. Good beer hard to go wrong, Jello shots were actually decent not bad good alcohol taste. we manage to hang here for a few, long enough to finish our drinks .. decent music playing, service was good considering how packed it was & prices were not bad.

A chill bar. On the brighter side. Not super crowded. Music was not that great. White people bar vibes.

Do not trust this bar. I had multiple charges on the credit card I used and when I attempted to resolve the issue, 1) bar never opened on time so I would sit and wait for an hour two days in a row until I had to leave ,2) phone number listed on google goes straight to voicemail, 3) found a different number after a search on google that is a cell phone for I assume an owner who wasn't even on site. He did not resolve the issue and instead argued that it was impossible despite me sending photos of the multiple transactions which he requested. There's plenty of other bars in the area that you can visit.

Disgusting place with over the top, ear-splitting trashy music. It's always empty but it never stops them from blasting their music for the whole block to endure. No regard for their neighbors. Just a trashy place for trashy people.

Ended up at Mama's for my birthday with my group of 15, and I'm so thankful we did. It's not too loud, but they play great music, there was space for my people to move about and mingle, and the unassuming yet trendy vibe is just perfect! It's small, but roomy at the same time. There's a long table that my friends sat at, and some bar stools, along with sports playing on a big projector. It was empty when we got there on a Saturday night around 10pm, so it felt like we had our own place! Can someone say VIP?! It was very cold inside, plus it smelled kind of bad, so I think they should clean their bathrooms more frequently, but besides that, loved it here tonight.

Second stop on my October fest shenanigans, nice bar with an open setting. Little loud, and just one bartender on a Saturday. Took a while to get our drinks but the bartender was doing her best. Several TV's available to watch your games. Nice spot to meet a few friends!

This place is great, I come here often. Staff is always on point. I generally come on Saturdays to see Christian because he's GOAT but I'll also come during the week to see Justin. They're all super friendly and really fast at their jobs. This past Saturday Rachel, the manager was working, with a new girl I didn't know but they were super sweet. Side note: I was the one who pointed out the underage kid, as I know him personally. He was not allowed to stay because he is 20 years old and if someone has a problem with that they can blame me and not the bar, who is just doing their job.

I came here FOOOOOREVER ago when I was younger and in college. Things really have changed. So there's really only two notable things I have to say about this place. Coming soon. Mama's bar is pretty small, one room, lots of bar stools, but I don't think I've ever really seen a large number of people sitting. Folks are usually standing/mingling. There's an arcade game that's not on, and some sports playing. Drinks are maybe just slightly under city average, which is a good thing. Here's the only two important things though: 1) This place has great music. You'll be grooving and dancing to the pop hits they're playing. It makes everything way more fun. 2) This place stinks; like literally it smells really bad. I don't know why, but it does. The bathroom was suspiciously clean, so not sure where the smell is coming from. If it wasn't raining like cats and dogs outside, my friend and I would have left after the first 10min, but it was so we stuck it out till it subsided a bit, then we booked it out of there. You start to notice it less after 20min, but man, it's just pervasive. They advertise the best fried chicken in ny, but there's no way we were eating any food there. The bar was also exceptionally dirty with water, drinks, and who knows what else floating above the counter top. I hope it was just an off night we went, but not likely to come back to mama's in the next couple of years.

Mama's has crossed a certain threshold since I was last in here. Unfortunately, it is a threshold of stink. I'm honestly not trying to be an asshole, but if I were a bar owner, I would want to know that a fan of my bar came through the doors with a large group of friends and was immediately forced to leave because it smelled so rank. I have a pretty high tolerance for grime in a bar, but I actually couldn't tolerate it. Something in this bar needs to be wiped down, re-upholstered, torn up, sprayed, power-washed, burned, or just thrown the fuck out.

You may be too mature to turn the space in between the tables and the bar into a dance floor. You may be too uncultured for the great music the DJ spins here. You may be too prissy to chug back a couple of beers with the indie boys and girls of the East Village. You may be too clean to touch the bathroom doorknob. You might even be too shy to chat up all the lovely ladies at the table by the door. You might be too drunk too recognize the art on the walls. You might also be too common-sensical to fall for the old "I just painted a wall in my apartment Gentleman's Blue. You wanna come check it out?" line some guy is feeding you in an attempt to get some play. You might be. But I'm not. had a great time. next time i'm in the village you may find me here in a corner nursing a stella with some big dark shades on.

Mama's serves cheap beer and shots, and a smattering of fancier liquor options (including house infusions, bizarrely). They've got a big teevee, comfy couches, hilarious bathroom graffiti, and Connect Four. I've only had one bad service experience here (among other infractions, the paranoid young man behind the bar demanded that we stop taking pictures. Of each other. On New Year's Eve). But the good news is the fellow in question was fired the day after! The rest of the crew at Mama's is fabulous and pretty to look at, too. And the regulars are at least as amusing as they are anywhere else...

This place reminds me of Mars Bar and that's NOT a good thing. I ended up here after departing ways with K and only to be scooped back up again and brought to hell. If I knew this is the kind of place I would end up, I would have called an early night. K came to Mama's to meet his friends up and when we both walked in...we were like ummm this place stinks. LITERALLY! We sat at the end of the bar near the restroom. K gave me a stool to sit in and I said I pass. The stool is so sticky and so K gave me his stool, but his stool was no better than mine. I felt very uncomfortable here...hello you don't take an OCD girl like me to a dive bar! The bartenders here doesn't offer you napkins with your drinks. I hate the fact that everyone here has to touch you when they speak to you. Like, seriously...really! There's only one bathroom - so you have to share it with men and women. I wanted to hurl when I walked in there. What's surprising about this place is, they have a frozen margarita maker. I got one of them, but it's beyond sugary. Yes, this place is disgusting!

My cousin and I came in to Mama's after dinner right across the street at Poco. It was a Wednesday so, it was not too busy but the bartender was welcoming and had a bomb ass variety of music. He let us make requests and he, my cousin and I were all singing our hearts out, along to the music. It was kind of awesome. I ordered a drink before I checked in, got a disco for a brew and shot after I checked in and lucked out with a free drink from some guy who needed to meet a minimum in order to use his credit card. So, I guess I'll add this: Make sure to keep a tab open if you're going to stay for a few drinks. They have a ten dollar minimum for credit/debit cards so, you're best bet is to either keep a tab open or bring plenty of cash. They have some decent specials and all in all, we enjoyed ourselves.

This is definitely one of the more chill spots in Manhattan. It certainly has its own unique style (check out the bathroom!) which is clear from the decor and the drinks. For example, the Mama's juice is some ungodly concoction that will knock you on your ass eventually. The mama's beer is nothing special though. The bar opens up the "windows" during the summer and tables are spread around the outer edge of the bar. The setting is cozy and laidback no matter what time of year it is. The bartender's are a lot of fun. Ask them to make a Mama's muff - jalapeno tequila mixed with who knows what, but its great! I also recommend a game of Big Buck Hunter which is sitting in the back. Last word of advice, don't steal the boobs!

This was a stop on our whiskey walk this year. It's a really fun bar! Bartenders were great, fun music, lots of drink specials advertised on signs around the bar: $5 pickle backs, $8 hot toddy, $3 beers, trivia Tuesday's 8:30. The bar was bumpin and everyone was really happy, adding to the fun vibe. There were stools around the bar and we snagged a couple swivel chairs across the bar - super comfy. Olympics were projecting on a big screen in front of us and there were 3 other TVs Showing sports around the bar.

Typical LES bar, small & loud. A ton of people who were so drunk with the regular Top 40s music.Drink wasn't too great. Probably would not go back after time before 10:30/11.

Left the guy a $4 dollar tip on a 4 drink bill, 3 hrs later see that there's a $10 tip charge on my Fiance's credit card statement. SMH. Don't trust the bartender jeff. The 1 star would be for the creativity of their specialty drinks.

Good dive bar, draft beers include Stella, Killians, Brooklyn, Lagunitas, Sixpoint Sweet Action, Magic Hat #9 Music loud and modern urban Food menu is from Root & Bone which is next door. I need to go back and try the fried chicken.

Went last night to Mama's and had such a fun time!! The bartender Cody really showed my friends and I an amazing night out - thank you Cody! We never thought we'd have so much fun on a Sunday but we are so glad that we went out.

I like this place. It's non too fancy, but the prices are some of the best in the neighborhood . The decor is a quirky mix of chotschkis and Xmas lights, complete with some bathroom art that is truly breast-taking (go see for yourself, then roll your eyes at my super lame pun) The bartenders here are a good bunch. They'll play whatever music you want, and put whatever you want on for sports or other TV (lots of flat screens and a big projector screen). Jeff is my favorite. He's great conversation, especially if you happen to be solo. There are more than a few locals that make it a point to hang out whenever he's working. Menu wise, there isn't any food (however you can order for delivery or bring in food from one of the many places close by). The cocktails are tasty and reasonably priced ( all 8 dollars during happy hours) and are made using hard liquors they infuse themselves. If you like Chai tea flavor, I highly recommend the "Filthy Soy Chai" cocktail. I can't stop drinking them. It's a problem. As for negatives ..the biggest one is probably that the bathrooms could use some help. They are kind of graffitied up and gross looking, but that tends to happens in bars around here.

Stopped in here yesterday after brunch at Poco to keep the drunkness going lol. Very convenient as it is right across the street. Just make sure you either eat beforehand or don't go here hungry or with the munchies because there is no food. Overall great vibe and the man behind the bar was great. Super divey! Very attentive service! I had a chai-tea-something that was made very deliciously!

Im going to make this short and sweet. I went on a Margarita March in the city and this was by far the worst spot that I went to. The March consisted of 8 different bars and I had no problem until I came here. I had a very racist experience and one of the bartenders automatically took the gentleman's side who snatched a bar stool out of my hand insisting that he was right. Its one thing for a patron to act in this manner but for an employee to do so is a totally different ballgame. Whoever is in charge of the Margarita March next year should x this place out of the line up. Ive been Elite for 5 years and have been to many places all over the 5 boroughs. I am educated and always go out with dignity and class. This was a very unfortunate experience and I wouldnt recommend anyone come here. Ever.

Very standard place nothing really special.. But our server even though he was a little on the slow side was really really friendly and pretty genuine. He would be the reason I would come back. he was 5 stars on his personality. He was chatty but not annoying... -The food had something to be desired. -The food that had something to be desired was a bit on the overpriced side for what it was. It's a great place to get a drink and relax outside.

This is a great neighborhood bar where it always feels like home. Cody usually takes care of us and is extremely attentive and friendly. I love the inviting atmosphere

This is my favorite dive bar in all of New York City. The drinks are cheap, the music will bring you back to your middle school dance days in the best way possible, and you can play Big Buck Hunter to your heart's content (or until you run out of quarters). Also, this place is well positioned near a ton of prime brunch spots (I'm lookin' at you, Poco) beckoning you to extend your Sunday Funday. Oh, what's that? You're ready to eat again even though you just downed an entire plate of lobster mac and cheese and twelve bloody marys at brunch across the street a few short hours ago? Never fear -- Mamas will feed you some more delicious greasy food. And even if you're drinking late enough for the kitchen to be closed (11 pm), they'll even let you bring food in from elsewhere. Cause Mama doesn't let her babies go hungry.

Crappy bar, depending on the night you go will depend on the crowd I came with a friend on a Sunday night because she said the restaurant next door has the best fried chicken (which is a complete lie lol black people don't play when it comes to fried chicken and there's is mediocre!!!) Well the restaurant next door has certain items on there menu that you can order from the bar! Cool right? I ordered the Mac an cheese as well, it was pretty good but it would of been great if it was hot. They serve us room temperature Mac and cheese I'm guessing it was sitting in the kitchen before we ordered it and when our order came up. We unfortunately got the cold Mac and cheese. Cocktails are shitty but what do you expect from a bar. Prices are good, vibe is pretty lame.

Went there for a Shakespeare event. Small, kind of divey, pretty good bar. Had a small selection of draft beers $7 which is a decent price. Didn't try the cocktails but they had about 8 in the $12 range. Also got their wings. The menu chalkboard claimed "best wings in NYC". They were not the best I've had, but they were pretty good and enough (3 pieces) to satisfy the $9. Bartenders were also attentive and it was easy to get their attention. All in all, not a super fantastic bar but will definitely come again for a relaxed time with a few friends.

Love love love Mama's Bar. Great neighborhood bar to grab a quick, cheap drink and they always have good specials. Bartenders are always really friendly. Leyla is a gem. Very friendly to every customer and super attentive. Good qualities in a bartender . She's the one I consistently see there and she always seems to be working with a different person. Wish I got to know some of them a little better too. Ask her to turn on the sound for the Mets and enjoy the game with her! Friday and Saturday can get a little crowded, so get there early and grab a seat while you still can.

Whoops, wrong spot-- I had a nice time here. It was super crowded and a little bro-y. The bartenders were extremely attentive and the company was good :) overall, I do think I'd be back.

I enjoyed this place! I had an interesting cocktail which was supposed to be a strawberries and cream flavor but tasted like cinnamon. But it was good nonetheless. Not too expensive, cocktails were only 8 bucks. Moderate noise level, but a lot of sports games on so you already know it gets a little loud in here sometimes. Gross horrific bathroom. Hahaha

Small bar with friendly bartenders and good music. A Blue Moon will set you back $6. They have a $10 minimum for credit cards. I was taken aback when I first noticed the bronze boobs wall in the bathroom. I can only imagine what it's like for a boy taking a piss while staring at the wall of boobs.

Is this a dive bar or is it a lounge? Both. Couches up front and bar stools in the back with a giant-ass tv occupying one whole side of the bar. $5 vodka sodas, tons of drunk people singing along with whatever the DJ/bartender was pumpin....hot mess. If you want to take home a semi-ok-looking low-self-esteemed girl at the end of the night, this place is a must. Bar crawl status: 4 hours complete, 2 more hours to go.

All I have to say is WOW. I'm truly impressed with the service I received tonight at Mama's. Felix was my bartender and I was blown away at how well he knew his craft. He was a) hilarious and b) sharp. (Easy on the eyes too) Nowadays I think finding an apathetic bartender is more common than not and he definitely rose above that tenfold. I never went too long with an empty glass despite it being busy (some sort of movie showing was happening and it was quite busy) but he was always quick with a refill but never pushy. His carefree but conscientious approach makes you feel like you're in your own living room. He's one of a kind and reminds you that the great NYC bar culture isn't altogether dead. I will 100% be back

What a great spot to grab a Sunday afternoon drink. Came by while waiting for a table next door at Root & Bone and enjoyed everything about this odd little bar. The staff was great. Big bearded dude in xmas sweater had us cracking up and was playing awesome music. Manager was in as well and was a super nice guy. The cocktails are moderately priced and tasty. They have a couple of house infused liquors to try. I love dat spice so went w/ their jalapeno infused tequila drink (2 of them). My favorite part of bar is how weirdly decorated it is. Like, weird as shit. Brass boobs in the bathroom, ratchet chandeliers and a light up piano interior (?) hanging from a wall. Heard this place gets pretty packed at night so can't speak for visiting then, but for a relaxing day drinking spot, Mama's is A+

We went to Mama's Bar on a Saturday afternoon. The outside sign says "Happy hour until 8pm" and Frose's (Frozen Rose) were $5. I went to pay and saw they were more than $5 on the bill. The bartender looked frazzled so she asked another bartender and that bartender said the happy hour starts at 4pm. I didn't make a big deal about it but with the false advertising they're going to piss off a lot of people in the future. We will not come back here.

I live on the Lower East Side, which unfortunately turns into an orgy of prom queens and jacket-and-jeans fellows on busy weekend nights. So instead of dealing with the mess, I pop up to Mama's - it's close enough, and it's a low key, decent space. It's manageable on even Saturday nights. I can't say I like the three portraits on the wall...but that's my only complaint. Sometimes they have people spinning records in the corner, which amps up the dance factor. When you're feeling overwhelmed, you can always go back to Mama.

For a stop in the often chaotic East Village where you're guaranteed a seat and delicious cocktails, check out Mama's. The walls are scattered with mix-matched art, themes reminiscent of the "Old East Village" that we all long for. Music varies from night to night, I've been there when the eclectic jukebox has been in full force, the bartender's iPod has been driving the tunes, and nights where people have been rocking out vinyl and CDs on the turntable setup -- spinning anything from speed metal to house music. If you get there on the early side, roughly 7-10ish, the bar and Mama's Food Shop next door are open simultaneously and you can bring over a piping hot pile of delicious comfort food (think mac and cheese, fried chicken, roasted turnips) to enjoy with your cocktail. They have several infused vodkas to choose from, ranging from traditional grapefruit or berry to less traditional options like ginger and scotch bonnet (and you've gotta try the pizza vodka, yums!). Oooh, they also have Kronenbourg on tap, yeah!

Best chicken and waffles I have ever had! They serve the same menu as the restaurant next door so we didn't have to wait for a table. Very casual setting and fun atmosphere. I went for a weekend brunch with my friends and we ordered our food at the bar and got a lot for our money. Only thing I didn't like was the bartender was very persistent to get us to order drinks and it made me uncomfortable because I came for the food and am not 21

Affords a handy opportunity to have a quick pint or two in the Ave. B area, before going on to do whatever you're doing that evening. The look of it is equal parts Keith Haring (Haringesque mural on one wall), skate punk (skate decks hanging from the ceiling) and dive bar (non-functioning (?) hot dog cooker on a shelf behind the bar). Easy to get lost in reverie, contemplating the intricate pattern of tattoos on the arms and shoulders of the bartendress(es) working the night I was there (they were kind of like a mandala that way).

A nice, medium-sized bar located in the heart of alphabet city, Mama's Bar has a pleasing decor and original drinks. Sporting such cocktails as cucumber gin, sour patch vodka and the super spicy pepper vodka, this friendly bar is a treat. Not too pricey, but not too cheap either, one can rack up a tab pretty fast, though the awesome staff and great drinks make it worth it. Also, if you looking to get your grub on, you can bring food in from Mama's food shop, located right next door.

Loved the vibe, inventive cocktails, and attentive service. Stop in while visiting Alphabet City. You'll be happy.

Really fun place to go when it's not crowded. The bar tenders are actually nice people. They also don't blast the music so you can actually talk to your friends (on week days). Decor is hilarious (read: boob sculptures in bathroom). It is a dive bar though so don't order any fancy drinks that require vermouth. They don't have any!
