"Mama’s Boy was a part of Rosebud, a local chain of Italian restaurants, located at a prime corner in River North. It opened in September 2016 after remodeling the space that was previously another Rosebud restaurant, Joe Fish. The restaurant served lunch and dinner with large-portioned red sauce Italian dishes, wine, and cocktails, and featured a chef’s counter decorated with pasta racks. Despite its promising start, Mama’s Boy has now ceased operations and the restaurant has been removed from Rosebud’s website and social media pages." - Daniel Gerzina

Great food and service. Loved the romantic ambiance. We sat in the bar area near the open windows on a beautiful night out. Our server was attentive and kind. Ordered a beautiful Chianti wine bottle. Started with mussels, clams, charcuterie, artisan cheeses, sausage and peppers and of course pasta. David the chef was so nice to check on us and see how we were enjoying dinner. Everything was super delicious including dessert, a chocolate souffle paired with the most amazing amareto gelato. The food outstanding. Will definitely return.

Amazing place that really worth a trip. Despite the location and the decor it is not expensive at all. Food is tasty and fresh. You can definitely tell that everything is made to order with good ingredients. The gnocchi were savory and the calzone was delicious. As for the tiramisu, just perfect, one if not the best one I ever had. Service was friendly, efficient and warm on such a cold day. Will come back for sure.

I went there a couple of weeks ago for dinner with my family. It's a beautiful cozy place with very attentive servers. Food was great, I loved the steak I ordered well done. For dessert we got tiramisu which was huge and not to mention delicious! It's also a great date night place with dimly lit atmosphere and music played at a conversational level.

Incredible food. Incredible service. Came here with a group and the staff service was incredible. The team was personable, professional and fun. Food: Amazing. Check out the custom risotto from the huge block of parmesan! I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E....!

I was very disappointed with this place. Went in for a late night meal with a friend after checking into the hotel. With the outrageous prices they had on their menu, I was expecting top quality food and service. Unfortunately, both were mediocre at best. Terribly small for the amount you pay. I got the salmon and was very disappointed. Texture was off, a little over cooked, and very dry. The rest of the plate was fine. The service was mediocre at best as well. Wait time for the food was average. Our waiter helped my friend by explaining a few things on the menu, but the entire time he served us he seemed like he didn't want to be there. Never smiled once and never thanked us for visiting.

Delicious, professional food made by people who appeared to be genuinely Italian (accents, etc.) The food was made in a publically visible kitchen that allowed you to see what they were doing. All of the food was made right in the restaurant using virtually no out of box goods, exceptional service. When we ran out of our first free antipasto, the waiter gave us a second free of charge, of course no one had the room to eat this but still. On that note, the portion sizes are massive and they are extremely quick in making the food. Very enjoyable experience, well worth your money.

In a city of endless Italian options, Mama's Boy is truly worth every penny. The meatballs and polenta worked fabulously together. The risotto, mixed in an aged parmesan wheel, was simply out of this world. It's not hard to appreciate the ambience here; a fine dining experience without feeling pretentious as many Italian spots are. The service was warm and most welcoming, much like sitting down to a traditional Italian meal among family. For the curious, Mama's Boy goes through a wheel every 10 days and each imported wheel costs between $900-$1,000 wholesale, varying in cost by weight. This is an experience not to miss.

Excellent service and food. We had the grilled seafood appetizer and the truffle risotto which were both delicious.
