MAMATACO

So the first time we came here on a Thursday, we had a great time. We got 6 of the wings on happy hour (they were ok but you can tell it’s the frozen wings from a bag), the steak nachos were pretty good, and the shrimp tacos which only came with the 2 shrimp “uncleaned”, with a bunch of cabbage underneath. We also got 4 margaritas and a couple of shots. All though the food wasn’t up to par, we had a great time and made some cool friends. Plus the bill only came up to $80 so it was whatever. The hookah on happy hour is supposed to be $30, before 9, and the chubby guy tried to charge us $40 during happy hour until I let him know the actual price. The hookah is not worth it because it goes off too quick and the refill is damn near regular price which is stupid to me. We come back the following Thursday and it’s completely different. We got less items, 6 margaritas, and chicken nachos and the bill came up to $87 which I did not understand if the margaritas are only $7 and the nachos $15. So since the waitress decided to overcharge us, we left her no tip because in my eyes you tipped your damn self already! The shrimp here on the nachos are disgusting and they do not clean them at all! The only good thing about this place is the ambiance and the DJ. We will not be returning do to all the reasons mentioned! It’s no wonder they advertise $1 wings, they need the business but they won’t be getting it from me!

My bday celebration was cool. Thank you Rob for the flyers and the shout out. Unfortunately The service wasn't good. Why say the sangria drink is included in the brunch special and charge 40$ extra for that drink and charge 45 for the brunch . Charging double on my rum and coke and I only had 1 rum and coke. The wait time for the food was very slow. Not cool to double charge on drinks and charging 40$ extra towards the brunch special. Look carefully at the receipts .too many sneaky charges smh. 40$ for this drink smh. Fries were not goodThe.photographer was cool. Took nice pics

I had a great time at MAMATACO. Another placed checked off my list and added to my favs! Stopped in for drinks on a Friday with my homegirl. It wasn't crowded which was great! Andrea (probably spelt it wrong, I'm sorry! 🤦🏾‍♀️) was Soo nice!! She gave recommendations on drinks to try as well with food. We ordered wings, shrimp nachos and mostly drinks lol. They have hookah (not really my thing) as well.

If you like to shout in order to have a conversation, this is the place for you! Not only will you not be able to hear the person next to you or thoughts, but you also have to wait long to get your order. I went on a Tuesday, they had a live DJ and the music was great, but I couldn't hear myself think. Wasn't sure if the place was converting into a club at any second... I was a little confused. It was only 7 PM... lol When I finally got someone to take my order, it took so long to arrive I was hangry. The service was soooo slow. However, I couldn't really blame the waitress as she was the only waitress in the joint. She was awesome and so friendly, but the slow service ruined it. The place was not packed either when we first arrived. There weren't enough utensils, we had to take them from a different table after having asked twice for them. The food was mostly good, but the tacos are just sad to look at. The fish taco was worth it. I recommend the chicken wings! Empanadas were very good also. As far as the drinks go, the first margarita was very good (it took almost 40 minutes to arrive). Had one more drink after that, and it wasn't as good. Due to the long wait, I just stopped ordering. Well, it's best to say I shall not be taco tuesdaying here again

I'm always on the lookout for a new spot to try. Checked out Mamatacobk. We opted for the bar. Drinks and food were good. They even have a DJ photo-ops(if you're into that)

My friends and I decided to try MamaTaco for a National Margarita Day. The vibe and atmosphere is very nice however due to lack of staffing (1 hostess/server and 1 bartender) it took over an hour for us to receive our food and drinks. My friend's food was cold and everyone else's varied from hot to warm. Because the server and bartender were so very sweet, polite and accommodating they received a higher review and I am willing to try again on a different night.

I really enjoy the vibes here ! I feel safe due to security and Kathy is the best bartender she is courteous and cares about the guest having a good time thank you Mama !

Mama Taco - A Hidden Gem for Flavor Lovers Mama Taco delivers an exceptional dining experience with bold flavors and perfectly executed dishes. A friend and I came in to try this spot out being that it's right around the way in the heart of Williamsburg. The flan was a standout--smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness, making it the perfect way to end a meal. The oxtail empanadas were nothing short of impeccable, with a rich, tender filling wrapped in a perfectly crisp shell. And the chopped cheese? Absolutely on point--savory, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The chicken tinga weren't bad - lacked in juiciness to me a little in the dry side. But the sauce did help them out. From the quality of the food to the execution, Mama Taco is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates well-crafted dishes. If you're looking for a spot that gets the balance of flavor. Chef Yamel is a beautiful soul. She took the time to talk to us about her dishes and the importance of incorporating a flavorful menu for the clientele. Kathy our bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. Gave us the opportunity to try the different flavors of margaritas that Mama Taco offers. We had the classic margarita which did not disappoint. We tried the classic frozen margarita which was great for a frozen cocktail. Perfect mixture of alcohol and mix. The strawberry frozen was a bit too sweet for our liking. The setting was very chill. Weren't too many people inside at the time that we were there. They also served hookah which is a nice touch if that's your thing. The place is spacious and inviting. Please stop in and try this place out. I will definitely be back to try some items off the dinner menu. Thanks for having us.

Came here on a Thursday. Very cute and I like the vibe. DJ was good. Lots of space. Full bar. My friend and I sat at a 2 top. I ordered the loaded fries; lots of fries with guacamole and calamari. The calamari was over fried but the fries were good. They should give more calamari. My friend had the tostada and she liked it. Drinks were good but not really strong. My friend doesn't drink like that and even she was telling the waitress/hostess that. All on all nice spot. I would reccomend and come for happy hour.

I wish I took pictures. This place was a vibe. I went on a Saturday for brunch. The DJ was good and the bartenders made great drinks. The star of the show was the loader nachos. I added shrimp to it. They have the best loaded nachos I ever tasted.

The food was very good and the drinks were top tier. Our server Dee was amazing ! He was very attentive toward my sister in laws and I. Definitely a great Brunch spot!

Wasn't pleased with the service here after being seated a waitress kept emphasizing the seating time to my friend and I and we weren't even served yet or got any water. Finally we ordered our drinks and when I tasted it I didn't like the taste so I immediately asked if I could change it she told me no. I was taken a back a but then I proceeded to ask why she said cause that's what I ordered I can't change it out take it off. When I asked to speak to someone in charge she referred me to a gentleman and he stated "well whatever the waitress says" smh. My friend ordered oxtail empanadas and there was almost no oxtail in sight and the serving was very small for $18. The hookah was good. After the waitress noticed I wasn't drinking the drink she then asked what I wanted to change it for. The ambiance was decent but if you're looking for food and drinks I wouldn't recommend if you're looking to party then fine. The attitudes in there were at an all time high.

Came here early on a Friday night I heard it gets pretty crowded but my party was able to get a seat I had a margarita with a oxtail empanada and mac n cheese ..they also have hookah which we did and had shots

The service was polite, but slow which was interesting considering we were the only customers in the restaurant. We stopped by for brunch hoping we could get the $49 bottomless option, but we were told, it had been so slow they had switched to the dinner menu. I've seen this place on ig and it's usually packed and a vibe, I guess the better day is Sunday. We ordered the pasta, steak burrito, henny colada, zapoteca and churrogasmo all pretty good.

- brunch drinks be flowing - hookah available for $45 - weekend brunch parties are live - music is great - was not a fan of chimichanga - I did not like the chicken wings they tasted frozen from a bag - the surprise dancers and free shot are fun - alright service they sort of disappeared towards the end of my brunch - steak is alright

Definitely plan on returning. Our server Angela was great and attentive and provided drink recommendations. The Mexican corn with that Chipotle aioli sauce was the best Mexican corn I've ever had. The margaritas were also really good and they have several flavors. The restaurant was clean, played a lot of Latin music and had a lot of instgrammable places to take pics inside.

Even though the ambiance was great and I'm sure the staff are kind people, the place is a rip off. My friend and I had ordered guacamole and she came out with chips and pico de gallo. I told her we asked for guacamole and she said it was under there. I looked at it and replied back that it was just pico de gallo. She rolled her eyes and took it back and brought back guacamole. If I didn't speak up, would she have even changed it? We came for the hookah and it was too expensive. The hookah was $45 and the coal change $30. Very big rip off and the hookah was a bit weak. The only thing that was amazing and fun was the vibe. Definitely a place with good music.

The food was really good both times I went. It was a little hard to get the attention of our waitress even though we went on a Thursday, and there wasn't a crowd less than six people. Great for taking pictures nice backdrops.

I visited this place to celebrate the birthdays of two friends. Our server was exceptionally welcoming, providing a detailed explanation of the menu, including what items could be substituted and which couldn't. I chose the chicken empanadas, which I'd rate a 3.5 out of 5. For my main course, I had the Prime steak, which was somewhat lacking in flavor and could have benefited from more seasoning and additional chimichurri sauce. The music was decent, especially for fans of Hispanic tunes. Additionally, they offer hookah, catering to those who enjoy it.

So I decided to come out tonight to a gathering got drop off in front while my boyfriend was finding parking everything was ok until my boyfriend came in and the bouncer checked his ID the bouncer noticed it was an out of state ID and it was cracked on the side but it was valid ( not expired) but the bouncer tried to hustle my boyfriend out of 20 to get in thinking he was from out of state not knowing my boyfriend was once a bouncer himself. Decided to leave and go to another spot.

Great new addition to the neighborhood! Women owned establishment. I went with a group of 7 to celebrate my birthday on a Monday. Restaurant was not crowded but began to pick up as it got later. Angela and Lynette were both amazing! Very attentive, friendly and provided exceptional service! The food was delicious! Very flavorful! Appetizers: oxtail empanadas (mini /3 per order), chips and guac (shareable), and chicken tostaditas (mini/3 per order) Entrees: Mexican fried rice, fried chicken tacos, Loaded Mama Fritas (steak), quesadilla The food was 10 out of 10!!! We ordered pitchers of sangria and passion mojito! Sangria was great! The passion mojitos were not the best but still good. The flan was amazing (not too sweet) The hookah was smooth $40 and $25 for refills Highly recommend!

This is my first time dining here. It's a Saturday afternoon/ evening and there's not much people here. The food I wish I could tell you. Our server Bianca, was absent for most of the time that my company and I was there. Don't get me wrong the ambiance is nice, nonetheless I would have like to know what the restaurant had to offer as far as food goes. We did have some appetizers, the corn was cool, the oxtail empanada was cool the chicken empanada not so much.... Some had no chicken inside of them. Ask for WATER it never came.......The drinks were average. Although we were only able to get one drink. Asked for a check and it took her longer than 45mins to come back with it. When the check finally arrived it has things on it that we never asked for. Overall bad service!!!!

It reminds me of an updated girly diner. It's beautiful. When we visited the staff brains were on busy rush mode and it wasn't even busy at the beginning of brunch. Things moved slowly for us receiving what we requested. It's a first time visit so we would definitely go back because the food and the drinks were so good. You have to visit!!!

Don't waste your time going here if you have any sort of auditory processing issues or hearing issues in general. Attempted to eat here tonight and was blasted with music as soon as my group walked in. Whenever we asked the hostess If it was going to stay that loud or if they could turn it down, they said no they can't adjust the volume. I found this odd because whenever i attempted to make reservations over the phone, i wasn't even able to get my name through as there was such loud music coming through the phone. Additionally, there were only a few people dining so it's not as if it was so loud because it was busy/ packed. For context, i went around 7:30 on a Saturday night The decorations were adorable and their food could potentially be great, but i couldn't even get fully through the door since the music was so extremely loud and almost deafening.

Went with some coworkers on a Tuesday and had a nice time. Music was good, the food servings were blah but the waitress was very attentive and the drinks were good. Definitely would love to try out their brunch on Sundays I heard good things just wished the portions were alittle bigger

Definitely an influencer spot because the food is not it. Great music, decor, and hookah but our food came out cold and was very salty. The only thing I'd recommend are the empanadas but they are very small so get 2 orders if this is your meal. If you're wanting a vibe this place is for you (other than slow servers) but for authentic Latin food it will disappoint.

Waitress was kind and friendly but the service was very slow. Portions were not too generous but food taste good.

I visited Mama Taco with high hopes due to its spacious layout and appealing decor. However, my experience left me disappointed, resulting in a 2-star rating. The potential of this place is evident in its generous space and pleasant decor. It's a welcoming atmosphere for sure. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the ambiance. We encountered issues with the menu as they ran out of potatoes for certain dishes, forcing us to change our order, which was a letdown. The DJ was good, but he was dehydrated as he kept asking for water over the speaker. The drinks were quite good and somewhat redeemed our experience. Nevertheless, the service, the food, left much to be desired. It failed to meet our expectations.

My experience was amazing in terms of the service (vianca was absolutely amazing), the drinks & the overall vibe, but my food was not good at all apart from the eggs & the churros. I ordered the chorizo potatoes & eggs & added steak, which turned out to literally be ground beef. I'd come back for the atmosphere & service, but definitely not the food.

Rewriting my review because they blocked it from the public. Chill vibe, good space, very small tacos. The shrimp tacos were tasty but extremely tiny and the meat tacos were lack luster. I would not come here if you are really hungry for tacos.

First they bring us a lopsided table, no utensils not even water to drink. Then they bring out sticky wings, no napkins. The waitress took over 40 minutes just to bring a drink that taste like medicine. I didn't even stay and finish the drink I just wanted to leave. I do not recommend this place to anyone. It's disgusting, the service is horrible

For a new spot about 2 weeks old, I definitely see the potential! I popped in because I wanted a quick bite and was not disappointed. The aesthetic of the restaurant is beautiful! Definitely spacious and different spaces to accommodate various types of parties. I even noticed a DJ booth/stand so I know they're preparing to have lit brunches/happy hours. Since I came in as they were opening, they were cleaning the shelves behind the bar and still getting a few things together, but it didn't stop Angela the bartender from being so accommodating and kind. Monday is 1 free margarita with an order of tacos- so you know I had to take advantage. I ordered the Bang Bang tacos and they were great! You also get cheese popcorn as a starter (which was cold) but a nice touch! The drinks were great and so was the food. I'll definitely be coming back to check out future happy hours and weekly deals (like taco Tuesday!!)

Drink & Hookah (only two flavors) were decent. The food looked good but had NO flavor! Avoid the wings - poor quality chicken smh. Service was ok, and of course the place was cute.

I am very sorry to say this, but the food, service and ambiance was not good. Any store bought bag of Nachos would have been better, since theirs tasted like chlorine. Figure why? The Flautas, chicken and beef, were totally overbaked, dry and tasteless. The service was super slow, just the drinks took 30 min even tho the place was almost empty. The food took eben much longer. And the Ambiance.....if I want to hear loud loud music I go to a bar, but this is also a restaurant and it was 2 pm in the afternoon. Bottom line, never again :(

I asked for shredded chicken got grilled for my bowl. We spent alot of money as a group had to ask for comp shots got lemon juice. For a place across the street from the pj.s clearly got the service we didn't pay for. The drinks were weak but expensive. Smh it's a hard won't be back

Vibe was great , hookah too also drinks , Service being honest was not great at all, a lot of miscommunication, they don't tell you kitchen closed at 11, we couldn't even try the food at all. They need to tell the clientele that. Also they need to improve the staff kindly they look like they don't have any experience.

The food is really good. I recommend it. Probably the best Mexican food in Bushwick. A bit overpriced, but overall great.
