Man Wah

"Following a 2020 makeover, this elegant and neo-Chinese chic room now boasts a royal blue theme which works well with wood-rich details and bird cage chandeliers. The menu includes a range of traditional dishes underpinned by skilful preparation and a degree of originality. Try deep-fried matsutake mushroom pudding that melts in the mouth. For adventurous oenophiles looking for surprises, the sommelier also offers blind tasting flights." - Michelin Inspector

We have visited Man Wah several times. The service has been excellent, and the staff are very friendly. I was surprised that the chef reduced the welcome dish to just a small deep-fried dry fish. You can see it in the photo. The other dishes were tasty, but I believe they need to update their regular menu, as it hasn't changed in at least two years. My husband would like some prawns, but they only offer one prawn dish. We did not choose it because it seemed spicy based on the description. The decoration is very nice, but a few mainland customers were quite loud, which negatively affected the atmosphere.

Wanting to try Man-Wah dim sum for so long, especially their pastry items. Me & my friend booked for a weekend lunch. The restaurant was 70% full, so highly suggest to book before going. Overall, the food was quite mediocre. Most of the dim sum is not hot enough. The radish cake with XO sauce was a bit oily for my liking. The abalone tart tasted very nice. I will consider going back for the abalone tart & service.

Man Wah at Mandarin Oriental delivers one of the finest dim sum experiences in Hong Kong. Each piece was exquisitely crafted—delicate, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ambiance blends classic elegance with a stunning skyline view, and the service was flawless. A true five-star dim sum destination. Refined yet deeply comforting.

Amazing dinner and service. We had an amazing view of the harbor and the food was great. I recommend the peking duck and also the Wagyu noodles. The food is a bit pricy but it’s worth it.

I had an opportunity to visit this restaurant invited to attend 2025 CNY lunch by friends at my past company. It is located at the 25F of Mandarin Oriental at Central. Food: was well made, its a high class place. It was good that I wish the serving was bigger so I can eat more ;) Service: It was really great services, multiple waiters to assist, they made sure the guest were attended promptly. Atmosphere: You will feel the good vibes the moment you get out of elevator and walk towards the entrance. The view was great since its at the 25f floor, you see harbour and other land marks in the area. Over all it was a great place to dine, spend time with other guys in the same industry, it was well worth of the time. I will plan to be back and try other dishes of this restaurant

Given the price, we had high expectations, and overall, we weren’t disappointed—but to be honest, we weren’t particularly impressed either. We were initially promised a room with a sea view, but upon arrival we were informed that due to 'technical issues,' it was changed to a table outside (far from the windows), which was a letdown. The service was decent, though it could have been more attentive and friendly. At this price point, there are plenty of other options in Hong Kong, so we’ll likely explore more places before considering a return.

We only have few dishes. Dim sum were so so, but barbecue pork was good. Nice view from 25th floor. Super nice service!

I had the steamed grouper and crab, really nice and tender. My husband had the crab noodles which he said was OK. One thing I would say, we called beforehand 3 days in advance and advised we would request halal dishes. But we were unable to sample much of the menu as it wasn’t halal friendly and had a lot of pork. This really limited what we could have and we really wanted to try some good quality dim sum. Whilst the food was good, they did charge an extortionate amount for a side of simple vegetable noodles which they said was a small dish, well it cost $248 HK. So wasn’t great. Would I come again? No. Was left disappointed because of the service and lack of halal options.

Yelp
Hong Kong, Central. November 2023. Exquisite Cantonese cuisine, posh table settings and calming dark blue with gold accented wood paneling and walls, wonderful Statue Square city and Victoria Harbour views from the 25th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. It starts with a properly cordial greeting from a host or hostess when you get off the elevator. Someone will welcome you and ask if you would like to have a beverage or tea. You are seating at table with pressed tablecloths - you can see them use a steam iron to get out any wrinkles or lines when they change out between covers. Your teapot will be on a raised metal canister with a burner to keep the liquid hot. Your tea will be poured and refilled without you needing to do it yourself. A very elevated fine dining atmosphere without hard upsells or pretentious people. The staff are experienced, knowledgable, attentive. The Cantonese cuisine is faithful to traditional preparations but given modern sensibilities. The preparation skills and knife work are evident. The plating is precise and a feast for the eyes. Not every dish may click for you, but you will remember the ones that do. The look and taste of the food by Executive Chef, Wong Wing Keung is often stunning. It is hard to find fault here. This is the full package.

Yelp
This is probably the highest rate of restaurant in all of Hong Kong and for context you're paying almost $200 a person for their tasting menu We added half a duck and a huge huge huge huge huge disclaimer is that the duck is prepared in the Hong Kong style which is different from the Chinese style Honestly I prefer the Chinese style by a lot. They separate the fat from the skin and the skin is crispy but I wish I could have eaten duck slices but they have three options on how to prepare the duck meat and it all deconstructs it in some way. If I had to do it again I think I would just get the tasting menu and maybe suckling pig or something.

Yelp
My first visit to HK all I wanted was Peking duck and a traditional place to dine in. My fiancee's colleague/friend lives in HK. It was our last day there and we wanted a memorable meal. I still hadn't had the Peking duck! Everywhere was 1-3 day advanced noticed. Peking duck can be pricey and plentiful. It was just my fiancée and myself and no one offered half of it. We knew a lot would go to waste but didn't care. Upon making lunch plans before we would head out to our evening flight back to New York, his friend quickly made a reservation here. We were very lucky to have gotten one last minute and she also reserved half a Peking duck! I was sooo happy! Before coming I read some reviews about this place I knew it was going to be expensive but amazing food! They have a Michelin star chef. It is located in the hotel Mandarin Oriental. We arrived for lunch and staff downstairs took care of our suitcases for us. We took the elevator up and my fiancée had on some dressy short slacks with dressy shoes. Upon checking in he was told he had to change. He left and went down to change. I waited at their bar area which provides a great view. Upon seating tea served immediately and staff was truly amazing!!! One of the best service I had while in HK. We started with so many food options rice, chicken, duck and vegetables. I hadn't had dessert anywhere during my visit but the waiter explained some of their desserts and I just had to try it! This very cool mango cream chilled dessert was out of this world!!!!!!!!! The presentation spectacular! If I ever come back I will be coming here!!!! We also received a complimentary dessert in a birds cage which we were told was very traditional.

Yelp
This place was high end Cantonese food. Cary R and I came here on a recommendation from my friend in Hong Kong. This place is located close to central and is very convenient and is on the top floor of the building, with a great view. The service is outstanding and first class and the rules are pretty strict with the dress code as well. We had the few sautéed veggies, half a crispy duck and half crispy chicken and fried rice. The food was second to none. We also had a couple of desserts and the complementary desserts as well. If you're in the Hong Kong area, try this place, make a reservation- you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Hong Kong has quite the good scene but we chose to come here. You must put a CC down for reservation and there is a charge if you no show. We walked in and it was intimate like maybe 12 tables total and everyone was full. It was quiet and romantic inside with a killer view of the city from every seat. We were going to do the fixed menu but decided to just order several items and split instead. We got a fantastic bottle of wine the sommelier recommended and we're so pleased with the Peking duck skin baos! The wagyu beef melted in my mouth like bUtter.... I would ask for it alone next time with no veggies! The prawns were definitely disappointing as we expected more crunch/ batter. We ordered espresso and had complimentary dessert too! Our service was superb, the ambiance was nice, and a Michelin dining experience for two at $450 is a good deal ;). If we hadn't ordered the prawns I would give this a 5!!!

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite fine dining Cantonese restaurants in town. The ambiance is decidedly Old World, with deep velvety carpeting, dark, lacquered Chinese furniture, and many, many, many shining brass lamps. The food is traditional but oh-so good. We had many dishes, so I'll only talk about the highlights. Unlike what another reviewer posted, I did not have to guarantee my reservation (for 6) with a credit card. They took my reservation without problems. I do strongly recommend making a reservation however. It is not a big place and can fill up quickly. We had a barbecue pork that was paired with peanuts and pickled vegetables to cut the fatty taste. The pork was sumptuously juicy (almost like the used a sous vide machine to preserve the juiciness) yet smoky in flavor. Best I've ever had. Another surprise we had was the Peking duck - with skin sliced so thin that the crunch is amplified. The wrap is likewise made paper thin, so as not to overwhelm the flavor of the duck. Duck the second way (minced in lettuce leaf) was also stellar, with the meat so finely minced the duck flavor really comes out. The next highlight dish was the stir-fried beef mixed with vegetables and a very flavorful mix of mushrooms. The beef was good, but the star for me were the mushrooms. They added a wonderful umami flavor that rounded out the dish really well. I wouldn't order the wagyu beef with this as it seems like it would be too soft and fatty for this type of dish. The fourth favorite dish we had was a hot pot of mixed vegetables. One often finds this vegan dish served in Buddhist monasteries, and has a distinct pink flavor made by a colored root vegetable. Quite good! Our last favorite, was the trusty sweet and sour pork. It is a dish found everywhere but these guys take extra care with this. The pork is crispy - so crispy that it's like pork skin. The sauce was obviously tossed in at the last minute and just finely coats the meat. So you get a perfect blend of sauce, crunch and pork flavor. One thing I did not love was their stir noodle dish. It was too oily and not tasty considering the caliber of the other dishes.

Yelp
Was there last month for birthday dinner. We had their 8-course degustation menu (otherwise known as the "Man Wah Signature Menu"), priced at HKD1,488 per head. My favourites as below:- (1) 鮮淮山鮑汁關東遼參 (Stewed Japanese sea cucumber, fresh yam, abalone sauce):- Contrary to how ugly it may look, sea cucumber is one of the most prestigious - and fretfully difficult to prepare - delicacies in Cantonese cuisine; and here it is braised in some stock and served with an abalone reduction. Texture-wise, it is gelatinous, almost pudding-like; taste-wise, "heavenly" is the word - I mean, who wouldn't like the rich, umami flavour of abalone sauce? (2) 海棠龍蝦 (Stir fried lobster, egg white, caviar, scallop mousse, gold leaves):- Frozen (and colossal) Boston lobsters are common in the Hong Kong restaurant scene, but judging from how sweet and delicate the lobster meat is, I think they use locally caught fresh lobsters? Oh and nice fluffy bed of stir-fried egg white as well. The best part of the dish, however, was actually the scallop mousse. It might look like a dollop of ordinary foam, but the scallop flavour is so so so intense! Nice souffle-like consistency. (3) 蜜餞木瓜配杞子薑汁雪糕 (Honey caramelised papaya, ginger and wolfberry ice cream):- An excellently executed dessert! Papaya is one of my all-time LEAST favourite fruits (don't know if it's just me but papaya seems to always have this "vomitty" smell lingering on its flesh?), but caramelising it with honey has turned it into a completely different, uh, yummy thing! Also liked the ginger ice cream, which was fragrant and gingery but curiously without the heat. Nice touch of wolfberries (aka goji berries) in the ice cream too, reminds me of rum raisin haha. Ambience and service are as good as one would expect from a hotel restaurant. And a Michelin-starred one too.

Yelp
What a special Hong Kong experience. Dining for lunch at Man Wah was perhaps the pinnacle of our entire time in Hong Kong. From the beyond beautiful dining room to the perfectly made delicious pieces of dim sum, we were beyond happy with our choice to dine here. Everything we ordered was incredible and service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We felt like royalty. Highly highly recommend Man Wah if you're looking for a special dim sum experience!

Yelp
Upscale Cantonese cuisine in the Mandarin Oriental. The restaurant is located on the 25th floor and thus offers a nice view of Central HK. Serves excellent dim sum and Chinese dishes. Chinese dishes (fish, veggie) are what you would expect from this type of restaurant but the dim sum was really excellent. Would recommend any of their more unique dim sum dishes. For non-dim sum item, recommend the BBQ pork - very tender meat with the right amount of sweetness.

Yelp
Very intimate restaurant with a terrific view, fine service, and delicate cuisine. Although there are many fine restaurants in Hong Kong, I enjoyed the experience of dining atop a wonderful hotel and sampling what I consider to be very exotic cuisine.

Yelp
amazing lunch set here. "simple" dishes executed with subtle complexity in a perfect ambiance with great service. just the right size for sampling and delicate -- even the house soup and fried rice were one step above typical versions

Yelp
Perfection on all levels. They definitely deserve their Michelin stars. The service, menu, food quality and ambiance were unforgettable. No trip to HK can be without a visit here!
