Mandarin House #4

This is my first time coming here. They were getting ready to close but they waited for me. Their food was very delicious and I am 100% coming back and it's close to home. So everything here is good and I am definitely going to be referring people.

Why 3 stars and not 5? Because we ordered the Dry Fry Rib and Peking Rib and we expected actual Ribs.and they were not. What we got instead was deep fried mangled meat piece. When i called to enquire the gentelman told me thats how they make them, boneless. I think they should make that apparrent on the menu than. Because the disappointment that happend to us can happen to other patrons. I'm not accusing them of intentional deception but by not putting the word "boneless" Peking Ribs and "boneless" dry fry Ribs, this can come off misleading. But because their chow mien and garlic fried chicken are very good. They are solid 3 stars from us. But since they did not offer to make it right we will not be going back.

First time here, so we tried a little bit everything. Food came out fresh and piping hot. Highly recommended the honey pepper wings! We will definitely be coming back.

First timers , our food was hot and delicious. Definitely will be returning. Not to mentions all the flavors the food very delicious.

I found this place about 1 year ago. I get the same 4 dishes everytime. The garlic fried chicken is so good. The only thing better is the salt and pepper wings. Definitely my go to dishes. You can have meat without fried rice and chow mein. The rice and noodles are decent but the chicken is absolutely amazing

We ordered garlic chicken, sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice, pork egg foo yung, and pork chow main. We were SO impressed with how amazing the flavor of every single thing we ordered, including how hot the food remained until we got home to enjoy. Dave Wong's....watch out!

Probably one of my favorite places in the area. Great service. Food is fresh. Very reasonable pricing and good portions.

Food needs to be made in smaller batches to stay fresh not soggy fried foods go to a different location

So I just have to say that I got food here a few nights ago and it was perfection... Chicken in Foil, sweet and sour pork, pork chow mien and pork fried rice... The chow mein was so crunchy with bean sprouts and vegetables, rare these days! Chicken in foil was delicious , sweet and sour pork was perfect , the rice was awesome ! I think this has to be The Best of The Best!!! I'm never dissatisfied with this place and I'm picky! Reasonably priced also!

This is my go to for Chinese food! The garlic fried chicken is the best! When it's in season they also have the best fried asparagus I've had at any restaurant!

Tried this restaurant (ordered over the phone for pick up) because they have Won Ton Noodle soup, my favorite. We ordered the soup, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable fried rice, steamed rice, and crab rangoons. Our order was on time, complete, and included the extras I requested sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard. My whole family loved every dish! That's a first. Even my 102 year old dad said this is the best Chinese food we've ever had! The restaurant was very clean and the staff very kind. The prices were what I expected and reasonable. This is our new "go to" Chinese restaurant. Thank you Mandarin House #4!!!

I've been going to Mandarin house #4 for as long as I can remember, and the garlic fried chicken is the gold standard for me. Plus the Wor Wonton Soup tastes like happiness.

After reading a couple of really good reviews on Mandarin house's garlic chicken I thought we'd try it. It was very dry and the pieces were so small. We ordered another dish and my tab was close to thirty dollars. Never again sorry Mandarin House you're off the list.

The wonton soup is good .... However when I asked what vegetables do you put in soup.... Guy says what ever we have for that day!.......

We ordered here when another local restaurant was closed for the day. Friends of ours had said the food was really good. They did not disappoint. The egg foo young was some of the best I've ever had and thier mix of house Chowmein had fresh made noodles and all fresh ingredients. Nothing tasted as if it was sitting under a heating lamp. We also ordered the salt and pepper pork, orange chicken and asparagus chicken. Overall we were very satisfied and will definitely be back again!

-pork fried rice: not very flavorful, not worth getting again -chow mein: the most bland chow mein I've ever had ever, just being honest, hardly any flavor. -general chicken: pretty standard, nothing wrong with it, but there was just something about it that made me not wana keep eating more. -tinfoil chicken: it was tender, nothing wrong, felt the same about it as the general chicken, just my preference. -prices and selection are pretty competitive especially for their combo plates. Good customer service though No pay n pay options

I love this place so much. Best Chinese food restaurant. The service is always incredible and the food is amazing. The eating area is so relaxing it's a little mom and pop shop and family owned great quality and service.

Garlic chicken was crispy and savory. Won Ton soup was delicious as well. In October 2023 they still had some Covid type of checkout. But the service was cool.

Ordinarily I try to steer away from bad reviews because I don't like putting small businesses in a bad light but having outdated overpriced menus is unexcusable The food portions were small for the price paid $2 a piece for chicken $20 for the double mushroom chicken and $10 for a small box of chow mein I could have got more if I went to food for less or any of the other local restaurants please update your menus otherwise I'll never return and I suggest if they're not upfront with the price with you Do not order it because the menus they're giving out or outdated.

Great food, great service, if you are looking for some quick hearty meals, mandarin is the place to go!

I've driven pass this Chinese restaurant for so many years but I've never given it a try. I finally did this time and it was satisfying which made me go back over and over again. What I like about the food here is the ingredients that makes it taste so good and everything comes out hot and fresh and is very affordable. A $10 freshly cook combo plate will fill you up. I love thier garlick fried chicken, it is made to order so it always comes out fresh, hot, and juicy. The texture of the chowmein that comes with a lot of vegetables is just how I like it. -This family owned restaurant has my support.

Normally we go here and get fried rice and chow me in but today we got a combo plate and a dead big was on the side of my plate where the orange chicken was! Disgusting never go here!

Chow mein Take Away - 5 stars Food - 4.5 stars Service - 5 stars Atmosphere - 4 stars I am nostalgic about "Andys Place" Mandarin House. I have been coming here since I could walk and maybe even before. My Favorite Chow Mein on the planet. The take away chow mein is the best, loaded with fresh ingredients and flavor. Good noodles, meats, and just that crunch that keeps you eating it. I love to get my own take away carton and eat it straight from it. Love it. haha The Garlic Chicken is also delicious. Crunchy and flavorful, just delicious. Resturant is clean and has a very nice mural on the wall that I always enjoy looking at. Andy is the best and truly he makes this place special. Anyone who eats here and meets Andy always knows exactly what foods and who I am talking about. When I come this way I must stop by to get my chow mein.

I returned after trying 4 years ago. We had pork chops mein, fried rice, walnut shrimp and garlic fried chicken. Deeeliciousness!!!!

Love how close this place is! The guy who usually works at the front always seems happy and is so friendly! The food is always good, especially the salt n pepper wings...to die for!! Lots of seating and family friendly.

I always passed this restaurant and today i stop and buy food from here and i didn't know this place is one of the good Chinese food i ever had.. and they now expensive.. guys try this place..

First and last visit. The food wasn't bad but wasn't good either and especially for their prices. The manager guy at the counter has a pretty awful demeanor, it's unwelcoming to say the least. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a positive experience.

Update: since covid hit, I haven't been able to get good from from Mandarin House. I've ordered 4 times since covid of 2020, all 4 times the food lack flavor. Andy please do something about this. I no longer live in Stockton but would still love to get your food the way you use to make them!!

Especially during this pandemic, this has become one of my family's favorite places to get take out. The menu options are plentiful and everything we've tried, from chow fun to mango chicken to the egg fried rice are wonderful. I highly recommend this business.

Time to update my review for Mandarin House. I went there a couple years ago and swore I would never go back. I am sure the garlic chicken I had back then was deep-fried twice. You know what that does to the texture and flavor of food and the additional oil that it absorbs. Today was different, at least for the garlic chicken. I ordered a chicken salad and a half order of garlic fried chicken (3 pcs). The chicken was done to perfection. Pump and juicy, deep-fried to a golden brown. The garlic was not overpowering....just right. The chicken salad was forgettable. Meh. I would not order it again. It was hard to discern the few thin pieces of chicken that were in the salad and the ones that I did find had a weird rubbery texture. I will return. Most likely ordered the golden garlic fried chicken and another favorite, the "potato" foo yong as Nikki calls it! lol I would appreciate a message from you telling me where you get your favorite Chinese chicken salad locally... Thanks.

This place has the best garlic chicken. I always order a tray for potlucks or parties. The house fried rice was good as well but like any typical Chinese restaurant. It may get a little pricey but it's definitely worth it. The owners are really nice & friendly! Also, it doesn't leave you feeling yucky after eating it because of grease & oil.

2 stars for the parking lot. Hate street parking. Last night was our first time here. We had a Mandarin House where we used to live so I was excited and hopeful when I found this place. It was highly disappointing. Other than the parking and the name, there was nothing good about this place. The food was terrible. Not one person in my house could finish their dinner. It was just that bad. And I think there was more vegetables than there were noodles or meat in my chow mein. The pot stickers were tiny and under cooked. The portion sizes were very small, especially for the price. We won't be returning, nor will we be recommending. I honestly wish I could get a refund. I usually take leftovers from dinner for Lindgren the next day. This time, I did not.

I am giving this restaurant 5 stars simply because they have the best garlic fried chicken I've ever had! I'm telling you, the flavor is perfect. I also love the crab rangoon. The only time I've been disappointed was when I ordered shrimp fried rice there wasn't very many shrimp, but the flavor was still really good. I also love how it's family owned and operated, the staff is super friendly.

I have been a customer for 30+ years. My kids were raised on Andy's food and they still want it when the come home to visit. The soups are my favorites, my wife loves the lemon chicken. You can't go wrong with Mandarin House 4!

Honestly I'd usually pass this spot up, but because I was too lazy to drive to China express at for for less, I pull in here........ I ordered a large shrimp chow mein and large Kung p chicken... chow mein was decent, and the kung p had literally 12 bite sized pieces of chicken.... wtf... filled with veggies. Smh

My absolute favorite place to dine in or pick up to go! If you love authenticity this little gem is a must!

Bottom line very reasonable prices, good service/friendly staff, clean (although the outside looks like a hole in the wall) and great food with good sized portions. $24.00 for a combo plate, soup, fried fish and soda...you cant beat that! My bf loves their fried chicken...he didn't think there was anything better than wincos and dave wongs til he tried their fried chicken today. Ps: You have to try their Wor Wonton Soup also : )

Always the best food and service! Been coming here for years. A family favorite all along. Those commenting on the loss of flavor since COVID-19 must be experiencing one of the side effects of having Covid. We are ordering another large order for our Christmas Eve dinner! Merry Christmas everyone!

This restaurant is small but the food is amazing! The owners are incredibly nice! They honestly have the best bbq pork in town ! Totally recommend!

This place has gone to the way side. It was better. But I recently visited and it was awful. The portion was so small. I paid extra for a modification and it cost me 3 more dollars and it was way less food. I won't be back.

Don't bother with this place. They advertise things like Kung Pow chicken and Mongolian Beef but what you are really getting is 90% bland, unseasoned vegetables with the final 10% consisting of TINY chunks of meat. Their chow mein is just as bland as their flavorless veggies. The only redeeming thing about my time here was the foil chicken, that ended up being relatively ok. Worst dining experience in a long time.

I ordered dinner from here last Saturday night....seems I have had a run of bad experience lately with restaurants. I ordered by phone two entree' and the bill was about $20. Upon arrival I was the only person in the restaurant..... I had high hopes but, .....oh man.....the food was greasy and tasteless. I cannot understand why it has the reviews it has.....I am going to have to take up cooking....this is getting annoying....another meal where I was "over it and yet hungry"

For $80 Potstickers-decent Ginger beef - where's the beef? Broccoli beef-okay Shrimp fried rice-where's the shrimp Sesame chicken-decent (but they gyped me on the quantity) I would give them another chance but would be more careful about what I ordered. It's Stockton....

I started coming here ten years ago when I met my husband. He has been coming here for probably 15 years. The food is always fresh and delicious. Nothing sits under a lamp. The owner and his family are so nice and very pleasant. They go out of their way to make sure you food is good. We may go long periods without eating here (we do what we can to eat at home every night) but when we do go, they remember what we like and get it to us quickly. I really love their shrimp foo young - it's my favorite. I get it without the sauce only because I don't care for a lot of sauce on my food. Their house rice is the bomb. Husband always gets orange chicken. It's always fresh and not artificial tasting.

The rice and fried asparagus was sooooo good. Very good service and the workers were very friendly. I would totally recommend this place!

Staff was amazingly helpful but the food was a major let down. House Chow Mein had no flavor. Ordered Mongolian Beef and Szechuan Beef, couldn't tell what was what, they tasted the same. Also ordered Generals Chicken but received a sweet chicken instead. Fried Prawns were good.

Great food great customer service. This place seems to be family owned and this time we love to take care of us. We go there on a regular basis maybe once a week. We have never been disappointed. This is a place where you can take out food come home and eat it and everything is going to be perfect. Never a mistake on takeout. We love sitting in the restaurant enjoying the hot tea and just relaxing in a great comfortable environment.

I had to check this place out, due to my fellow yelpers, "Yelpin" this place up. I absolutely love Egg Foo Young, so I ordered their Shrimp choice. I also ordered Cashew Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice. First off let's talk about the Egg Foo Young. It was missing the Egg and the Foo! It does seem to be more of a potato type pancake than Egg Foo Young. I did find one little shrimp guy in my pancake. I bet he was lonely being the only one. I swear there is shredded potatoes in there, and maybe a bean sprout or two. Maybe...... Next lets discuss the rice. I don't eat rice (my kids do) and they loved it and I saw 5 large shrimps as I was dishing it out. Last but not forgotten, the Cashew Chicken was by far my favorite. I didn't really see any chicken, and I realized there are very tiny pieces that resemble a bamboo shoot, but they are there! What I loved about this dish was the amount of veggies and amazing taste of this dish. There are carrots, celery, chestnuts, etc and whole cashews. Although I didn't order the piece of Grey hair I received with this dish, I do appreciate the gesture! lol I alone ate the whole thing (not the hair) as it was delicious! Would definitely be back, for the Cashew Chicken and the "potato" foo young.

Been coming here for over 15 years! It's the only Chinese restaurant that we go to! The owners are amazing. The owner and his children that work there treat you so well! The food is AMAZING! I truly recommend them to anyone!
