In November 2024, we visited Mandarin Noodle House, a Taiwanese restaurant in Monterey Park, Los Angeles. The friendly owner greeted us with a reminder that they only accept cash. This quaint, retro restaurant has been around for 46 years. We started with the cold appetizer, century egg tofu. The tofu was firm enough to handle easily, and the garlic soy sauce, paired with bonito flakes and century egg, offered a complex flavor profile. Fort boyfriend , the century egg’s taste, appearance, and texture were quite unique. The cucumber salad was refreshing, and the braised platter featured a variety of items, including offal, which is a must-try for those who enjoy it. The beef noodle soup, with its combination of tendon and meat, was incredibly tender and flavorful, with a traditional Chinese herbal broth. The juicy pan-fried dumplings were also delightful, offering a homely, mild taste. We highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to experience authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

Great food, and the service was amazing. It was busy when we went so but not to the point of crowed so it wasn't loud. Good place for family and a date. Denny is very friendly and gives his recommendations. Strongly advise on taking it!It'ss small and intimate with a nice setting. They have their own free parking lot.

Pretty authentic flavors! I especially enjoyed their pork chop rice, totally reminds me of the flavors in Taiwan. The owners are Taiwanese and they told me their parents are from Shandong, so I can imagine they must be really good at making noodles and dumplings. Will be back for more! Note: Cash only! They charged $0.5 for sour cabbage (yes, not included for the beef noodles, and extra $2 for the handmade noodles)

Google
Beef noodle soup and beef pancake rolls were good, pork over rice was a bit bland/eh. Small restaurant so you’re sitting very close to people. Friendly server and overall good food. Has a parking lot.

Google
It's a small family establishment. Some dishes are very good like Beef tendon noodle soup, potstickers and side dishes of cucumber salad and Seaweed salad. The Kung pao chicken had meat that was dry, like it was precooked. It definitely did not have that juicy, just cooked feel. He asked if we wanted it a little spicy. We said yes, but there was no spice added, so it wasn't a great choice. Maybe that's why it's on the back page, like an extra section. Concentrate on the 2 main pages on the inside of the menu. They have their own little parking lot.

The beef and tendon noodle is exceptionally delicious. The cold snack is so fine. The store is clean A. The only one running the table staff is efficient and cool. Price is just right. Guys, this is a must visit noodle house. I love it!

Latest Review: Lunch One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Small local business The beef rolls weren't as fried like how they usually are, nor were they as fried as other restaurants. The onion pancake wasn't as fried nor oily as it usually is, also not like other restaurants. Great dumplings Great beef soup w/ handmade noodles (pro-tip: always get handmade here) Service was lacking to non-existent my last visit, but I come here for the food!!!! :) I don't know if they changed cooks or how they cook things, but I ready miss the oily panfried goodness. They I gave them 4 stars rather than 3 because I've had a lot of good past experiences.

***CASH ONLY*** Yo guys it's 2024~ People don't usually carry cash anymore! While I was having my meal here, I saw quite a few tables who sat down and then get up and leave because they didn't have cash. There is an ATM machine in the restaurant though! I got the beef noodle soup, which was ok. The dumplings were a big disappointment. It was lacking flavor despite adding soy sauce. I got the Shandong chicken dish, which is served cold. This was also lacking in flavor. I think it was short of garlic. They have their own lot with plenty of parking. I'm in no hurry to come back to this restaurant. (also posted on Yelp)

Yelp
The food here is comforting and authentic, from the noodles and dumplings to the sauces. I usually get the noodles with bean sauce or the pickle vegetable noodle soup. I've had many other dishes here - beef noodle soup, pan fried dumplings, pork chop rice, many of the appetizers, and beef roll. All are good and I'm sure there are other things that are good that i haven't tried yet. When you come here, you're family. The owner, Denny, remembers his regulars and is always attentive and friendly. I'll continue to come back.

Yelp
FOOD Taiwanese menu with decent beef noodle soup. I would also get the fried dumplings and cucumber salad. Their glass noodles were meh though. But as a Taiwanese American, this place satisfied my cravings. Personally, the food at PPPOP was better for me, so I'm not giving a full 5 stars, but the service here was amazing. SERVICE The restaurant is run by one guy who grew up in the area. As we ate, we saw him greet many guests walking in by name. He seemed to know about many small details about his regulars, which tells me he has loyal customers who he valued deeply. He also gave recommendations to our table and made small talk with us. Super kind and great service for a one man team. LOCATION There is a small parking lot just for this restaurant! It isn't large but he has tables for parties as small as 1 or 2 and as large as 6-8. It's a great place for families and gave me similar vibes as a small town diner, except with Taiwanese food!

Yelp
Beware Dishonest service! I canceled one of my orders because it arrived late and the owner lady promised it would be taken out of my bill. When I paid up front, I asked for the receipt and the cancelled food was still included valued at $14.88. She intended to give me just $4.88 but specifically told her of the error. She insisted and I persisted. This went on & on. I practically computed for her. She knew I was relentless. Finally she gave back my $14.88. This gave me indigestion. Sorry, am not going back anymore & hopefully you (owners) read this, "Don't fool your customers with their hard earned money coz karma is a bitch"! And hope you will learn your lesson one way or another.

Yelp
I have been coming here every once in a while over the past decade or so. It is a very hole in the wall type of restaurant. It has its own parking lot with a few spaces. Their beef noodle soup really hits the spot. Make sure to order some cucumber salad and dumplings as well. Service is always good. I think the owner's son (?) or is he the owner now, takes good care of his customers. The only downside to this place is that it is cash only.

Jessica S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for a quick lunch. It's a really cute and tiny restaurant in a larger shopping center. My boyfriend and I both ordered the beef noodle soup and we shared an order of the spicy wontons. I was really shocked by the flavor of the soup! It was a super rich and flavorful broth with a nice kick to it! I really loved the handmade noodles. I loved even more that the noodles vary in thickness. Some were thicker and some were flat and thinner. It created a wonderful texture that made it so fun to eat! The spicy wontons are even better in my opinion. I believe that the wontons wrappers are homemade too. The filling was delicious and the spicy sauce had great flavor without being too spicy! This place is cash only, so be sure to stop by the ATM before coming in!

Yelp
Pro tip: CASH ONLY!!! Great spot for beef stew noodle soup! The broth is rich yet not overly oily and I absolutely love the beef stew - very tender and the fatty part melts in your mouth. You can opt out of green onions and cilantros too. Definitely try it out if it's the first time you are here! I also got the thin onion pancake - wish they put more green onions in there but great to take it home and experiment with it (I added eggs to mine at home and it was great)! There are a couple parking spots at the restaurant and it's also really close to the grocery store nearby.

Yelp
A true hidden gem! Amazing food, especially the noodles! CASH ONLY!! We ordered the Beef Stewed Soup with Handmade Noodle which is what they are known for and I highly recommend it! The broth is very flavorful and only a hint of spice (wouldn't really say it's "spicy"). We also got the Dry Noodle with Special Pork Sauce which was also delicious. It's a pretty small restaurant with a small parking lot out front. The service was very friendly and quick. I would definitely come back again, but just remember it's CASH ONLY!

Yelp
I've been dining at this restaurant since 2005, and after 20 years, the food is still fantastic! Service is always good and even though prices have reflected the modern day inflationary mark up, you're still getting great food and service. Great job, Tony!!

Angelique C.

Yelp
Food: 10/10. Everything I ate was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, especially the Beef Stewed Soup and the Green Onion Pancakes. The meat was so tender and the food was sooo flavorful Service: Our server was so kind and attentive too!! Ambiance: very local, home-y spot. You can tell it's a community/local favorite. It's also not overly busy (but I came on weeknight) + decent amount of parking in their lot! I fully intend to come back. It was such a sweet time!!

Yelp
Cash only. Decided to come check this place out after seeing it had good reviews and am so glad that we did. Mandarin Noodle House offers your classic Chinese/Taiwanese dishes for reasonable prices. We decided to try out the cucumbers, beef noodle soup, stir fried pancake, and shrimp fried rice. Each dish was great and I would totally get them again, if not for the many other items on the menu that I want to try because oh I will be coming back. Food even got my Taiwanese mom's very subtle stamp of approval, if the 1,000+ reviews and a 4.2 rating weren't enough to convince you to come try this place out. As for the service, this is a restaurant that knows and serves its community. There seems to be one main server and he knew literally EVERY customer that walked in. You can really tell that he cares about what he's doing and I think that's beautiful!! We walked in just hoping to get some good food, and not only did we get that, but also a heartwarming reminder of how establishments like these keep our community together. Love love love this place after one visit and will be sure to visit again.

Yelp
this restaurant made me want to live locally with all the conversations that occurred in this establishment. It's one of those restaurants you can go take your partner to, but also go alone to complain about your partner and someone will lend an ear, and they will probably counter with a crazier story to make you feel better. You'll feel like you're part of the family dinner you never knew you needed. I visited this noodle house with my partner, who has the personality of a beagle (but a 6 ft beagle, kind, quiet, shy.., he's my shy houseplant, ok? I probably not complain about him anytime soon.. but we'll see, he might bring home a homeless raccoon, might visit soon to talk about my chaotic sister lol.) Anyways, my partner has the salt tolerance of a snail, and I cannot take too much oily foods. The food itself is a perfect complement to the lively atmosphere. The noodles are satisfyingly chewy, and the pancakes strike that delightful balance--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside--without a hint of salt overload. Enjoying the food without feeling like you've just taken a swig of the ocean is refreshing.. The way it took my at words away, I swear it was like love at first sight speechless, or fall-off-the-monkey-bars-on-your-back speechless. The beef roll was the thickest beef roll I've had and I feel like I climbed into the pureland (i felt like i reached enlightenment. from a beef roll. yes.). Visiting this restaurant felt like a family gathering seeing my eccentric cousin, listening to his wild stories quietly with good food that's not overly salty and oily bc auntie be fearful for your blood pressure and cholesterol. This place isn't just a meal; it's an experience. The owner recognizes your face after one visit. They do take out, but i recommend eating in, he might just show you a picture of his few-month-old daughter, AND be treated to the best Chinese food (best I've had in ages), and honestly, I'd come back just for the family vibe alone (without the fear of being commented on your weight like my real family :')). I hope you had some days off since we visited early October!

Airi G.

Yelp
This is the thickest green onion pancake I've ever eaten despite it being called a thin onion pancake on the menu. It's not like the traditional thin, flaky ones in Taiwan but I actually really loved how doughy it was. The only downside was that the part with the green onions at the edge was extremely salty while the center didn't have much flavor. If it was more balanced, it would've been my favorite ever. I also tried the stewed beef and tendon noodle soup which was pretty good although I wish the beef was more tender. It was on the stiffer side although it was marinated well. I did love how chewy and bouncy the noodles were though and the flavor of the broth.

Mandy W.

Yelp
I love this family owned noodle spot in the SGV. I used to go to the Temple City location when I first discovered it. I believe MPK is the only location that's left by the original owner. They are known for their beef noodle soup. The noodles are handmade which makes it even more authentic. We normally order the Beef Noodle Soup, Noodles with Bean sauce and Pan fried meat dumplings. First, the beef ALWAYS cooked perfectly, super tender and has a great balance with the fatty portion of the beef It feels like you're eating with pork belly it's beef. The broth is amazing, not too my oil with lots of flavors. Pan Fried Dumpling, the dish I can't skip! So juicy and fresh. I love eating it with the beef noodle soup. Dry Noodle with Bean Sauce, this dish in general is my childhood favorite. The sauce tastes so well with the noodle. It has a good amount of ground meat! The ambiance feels very homey, the guy that works at the front, makes everyone feels so welcome with greetings and great compliment. I'm assuming they have a lot of regulars LOL. This is CASH ONLY so make sure you bring cash.

Benjamin R.

Yelp
AMAZING FOOD! You definitely have to try this Chinese restaurant in Monterey Park! I had the Noodle w/Bean Sauce (Dry) for $12.95 and was very satisfied! I loved the salty, meaty black sauce, the portions were great, and the price was worth it! Will definitely be coming back here! *Be prepared that this place takes cash only or Venmo!

Edward S.

Yelp
Mandarin Noodle House is now one of my favorite beef noodle soup spots. The broth really sets it apart. Remember to bring cash. Beef Noodle Soup with Tendons: The dark brown broth is intensely delicious. It's well balanced with a good amount of beefiness mixed with sweet and savory notes. Most of the thick beef slabs are really tender, like a moist piece of 'cue. The tendons are so soft and gelatinous. The noodles offer the right amount of chew. Just remember to order the freshly made noodles. The cilantro and scallions brighten up the bowl. Dining area: The large dining area has plenty of tables spaced far apart for lots of elbow room. Parking: There's a lot next to the restaurant building.

Heather L.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Still new to SGV and my goal when it comes to eating out is to try a new restaurant each time so off to Mandarin I go. I heard a lot about this place and even saw the owner on a podcast talking about his restaurant. I knew I wanted to make a stop! I ordered the beef stew soup with handmade noodles and onion pancakes to share with my boyfriend. They were both delicious and I can see why they're bestsellers. The soup was like a hug and I wanted to kick up the spice with their house chili oil (yummy!). The onion pancakes are the best and I know I won't be able to just eat this anywhere. The owner was very attentive and we saw a lot of regulars that he knows personally. It was nice to witness how close everyone is and Mandarin definitely provides that sense of community. Highly recommend coming by for amazing food at a great price. Cash only but also takes venmo/zelle.

Matt S.

Yelp
Food here was okay, didn't really pop for me. The beef noodle was my favorite dish that I got with the homemade noodles. The pork dish wasn't special. The veggies dumplings wasn't worth it and wouldn't get it again. The service was awesome, the man (I believe the owners son) was welcoming and very nice. He was the only one serving and there were several tables. He was still able to walk around to make sure everyone had what they needed and food wasn't delayed at all. Would come back for another shot with their food

Spencer W.

Yelp
My girlfriend was craving some chinese food from one her childhood restaurants and so she took me here to enjoy some of her favorites. This spot has been around for 30 years at least. When you walk in you do feel like its one of those restaurants from your childhood as well, its a vibe. The service was warm and welcoming, I want to say maybe the owner lady took our order and her son brought out our food. Here's what we ordered best first: - Beef noodle soup, tender pieces of beef in a flavorful broth. Also the addition of hand rolled or knife cut noodles were great - Cold noodles in spicy chili sauce - this item was pretty good, although a bit too salty for me, comes with some shredded chicken. - Pot stickers or pan fried meat dumplings - pretty standard. I would come back for the soup on a nice cold day. By the way carry some cash before coming here, they keep it old school asian, no credit cards.

Shobha S.

Yelp
Ample parking but it does get busy. Food is amazing and yes they can make it spicy if you ask. Portion size is huge so easily can share between two. Homely feeling and sorta of a mom & pop kinda place. Food is worth it so a must try.

Yessica C.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner last night at Mandarin Noodle House. I drive by this place all the time, but had no idea how great it was until my friend recommended it. We had the cold tofu salad, dumpling soup, and spicy shrimp noodle soup. Everything was excellent. The portions are large and everything was flavorful. The Spicy shrimp was not really spicy so would recommend adding chilly oil or paste. Service was really quick too! Denny was attentive to everyone's needs, charismatic, and kind. Overall very welcoming place. Will definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu :) *ALSO CASH ONLY*

Kenny L.

Yelp
I ordered the half beef and tendon noodle, and it was great. The soup was the highlight of the meal--rich, flavorful, and comforting. The noodles had a great texture, perfectly cooked to balance the tender beef and tendon. One thing to note is that the store is cash only, so be prepared. I was able to place my order in person and be in and out of the store within 5 minutes! This is a good alternative to fast food for me. Parking lot is small, but was able to find a spot pretty quickly. It can be challenging if the restaurant is full.

Nance T.

Yelp
This restaurant has the best noodle and dumplings!! This is the place you want to go to and eat for delicious food. Awesome service and great food!

Minji W.

Yelp
Amazing service and just the most classic Asian spot. Came here because a friend of a friend's family has been coming here their entire life!

Kathy T.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting at about 8:30pm. I came with my daughters and I just missed last call and forgot it was cash only. The owner was nice and apologized and jokingly said for me to take the girls to McDonald's...no, I did not settle I went to get noodles elsewhere...but I told myself I would come back that se week. I came back earlier this time around 5:30pm and ordered: Beef Noodle Soup - this was the best out of everything. So if you're trying this place out for the first time get this. Beef Rolls - Sadly there wasn't enough beef or sauce in the rolls, which made me a bit sad. If it had a bit more sauce I could have overlooked the lack of protein. Sesame Noodles - This was not something I like and that's probably personal preference? I like sesame as a dessert more? Idk. My husband ordered this and said it was overly sauced. I've never had this so I don't know the context. Cucumbers - Delicious. It hard to get this wrong. Cold Bean curd - This was also good. The restaurant was clean and had plenty of parking. I appreciate the two driveway entrances. It smaller than I thought. I've seen the inside on YouTube and social media so for some reason I thought it would be huge inside. But it's a good size and I believe on a good night there would be a wait. I would come back for the beef noodles itself.

Olive J.

Yelp
My boyfriend used to take me here all the time when we lived in Monterey Park. Like most of the restaurants in this area, it's very unsuspecting. It doesn't look like anything spectacular. The exterior looks dated, the seats and tables are the same from 10 years ago when we used to visit. The service is always friendly, it's never packed and the food is consistently good. I mean really good. The onion pancake, warm, fresh, tasty. The cucumber salad, light, crisp, sweet, refreshing. The star of the show is the beef handmade noodles. The broth, rich and delicious. The meat tender, the noodles. Perfect. On a cold winter day, this place is heaven on earth..

Erik G.

Yelp
I've been extensively researching where to eat in the area. This place was one of those places that was recommended online. The Pan fried Dumplings were pretty good. Nothing special to be honest. However, I did enjoy smothering them in some chili oil and devouring them. Price is $11.25 The Thin Onion Pancake was also not bad. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was the worst either. Price is $6.50 The Beef Stewed Noodles were pretty good and came highly recommended by the staff as it's one of their more popular dishes. I liked it at the time. Price is $15.95 Pig Ears are not pictured and I didn't try them, but they cost $11.95 Boiled Dumplings were ordered to go and they cost $10.95. The boiled dumplings tasted much better than the pan fried ones. I recommend ordered these instead. After some reflection, the meal was so so and bit expensive. It's tough for me having lived in China for 5 years and coming back to inflation with rising food costs. I think most restaurants in California especially are generally too darn expensive. It makes me question the value of the meal. Let me put things in perspective. We ordered one beef noodle, one pig ears, one pan fried dumplings, one thin onion pancake and one order of steamed. The total came out to 62.40 with tax. In China, this meal would cost no more than $45. I won't beat this restaurant up too much as food prices are much higher in the states than China From my perspective, this meal was too costly. I was the only one who liked the food. My wife, mother in law and son are all Chinese and they did not like the food. I feel like most of the customers are not locals, but people who come here for their fix of Chinese food. The service was very good offering iced water, warm water or hot tea. They were fast and very helpful in deciding what to order. I wouldn't come back, but if you like Americanized Chinese food this would be a good place to eat.

Maggie C.

Yelp
Classic noodle house with a simple menu that's been around forever. Owners are super nice and many locals come here. Onion pancake is delicious and crispy. I also got the tendon beef noodle soup but have to get the handmade noodles which is what everyone was ordering Pro Tip: bring cash but there's an ATM!

Albert K.

Yelp
Ok, I can't say enough good things about Mandarin Noodle House! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality. The owner's son, Denny, is the epitome of charm and friendliness, always going above and beyond to ensure every customer feels valued and well taken care of. The food is absolutely delicious, try their Spicy Beef Noodle Soup with handmade noodles. Or, Pork Chop over Rice. Whether you're craving savory noodles or flavorful dumplings, Mandarin Noodle House delivers consistently mouthwatering meals that never disappoint. One thing to note is that it's a cash-only restaurant, but fear not! They've conveniently placed an ATM machine inside, so you can easily withdraw cash without any hassle. I think the fee is 2.50 (or 2.99? kinda forgot) for out of network ATM card

Becky C.

Yelp
If you're looking for a solid bowl of beef noodle soup, this cash-only spot is a great pick. The broth is rich and full of flavor, definitely the highlight of my meal. I also tried the fried dumplings and not sure of the english name but the chive pocket things but they weren't as impressive--the skin was a bit too thick and the filling lacked some punch. Overall, it's worth a visit for the soup alone!

Travis P.

Yelp
This restaurant is awesome, second time coming here. Denny is a one man show and serves the whole front of the restaurant himself! Food here is authentic and absolutely delicious. Here are all the dishes I tried this time. Pan Fried Meat Dumpling - Super juicy, and good crunchy texture. It was good. (4.5/5) Combination Cold Cut - If you like inners and deli type meat this is a solid choice. Fresh cuts. (4.5/5) Beef Noodle Soup - I really enjoyed the broth on this one. Strong flavors but not too fatty. I think it's one of the better beef soups around. (5/5) Boiled meat dumpling - Simple/basic dish but was tasty. Nothing super special but still had fresh meat. (4/5) Beef Pancake Roll - Solid choice. Was slightly crispy and the meat had a lot of flavor. (4.5/5) Combination Fried rice - So much flavor and a mix of different meats. This one is worth getting. (5/5) This place gets a bit busy during dinner time especially since Denny is the only one serving both times I came. Reminder it's still CASH ONLY but they have an ATM at the restaurant and there is chase/BOA like a block down. Worth coming for good eats!

Jennie H.

Yelp
Asian food in this area always seems to hit the spot :3 it's tucked away in the SGV area with a tiny parking lot ORDERED: *Noodles w/spicy chili sauce (dry) Taste: 7.5/10; noodles were nice and chewy with quite a bit of chicken, spinach, carrots and the chili oil. For me, the chili oil wasn't really spicy at all.. (I usually like to eat more spicy) so I had to put in some red chili from the side pot *Cold Cucumber Salad Taste: 9/10; one bite, you get the vinegar-y, garlic-y mixture of cucumber all in one go! This salad is a fairly traditional side dish and it was spot on! VIBE: The tiny restaurant packs a punch with the Chinese vibe of simple and quick which I love and enjoy~ PEOPLE: There seemed to be just one server who was extremely helpful and fast! My friend and I had been discussing what boba to get and he had heard us and gave us some great recommendations! OVERALL FEELINGS: Portions are fairly huge for the price so you getting your worth and weight in food :) I of course would come back and try the other many choices that they have~

Rana S.

Yelp
Good selection of food, very classic Chinese restaurant. Everything tastes good and the staff are super nice and accommodating. Definitely a place to take friends or family visiting from out of town that want good Chinese food. As a Chinese person with autism, I also appreciate how the food tastes exactly as I would expect it to and enjoy it immensely as I was not surprised with unknown flavors. Definitely a go-to and staple restaurant for me.

Christina L.

Yelp
Came here with my son/husband. Great food and fast customer service. We got the handmade beef noodle soup and pan fried dumplings. Both dishes hit the spot on a cold day. CASH Only!

Carol C.

Yelp
Denny prayers for you and your family.. I understand you live in the fire zone..Hope your residence is okay...

Allen C.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday afternoon, love the food, service, and ambiance of the place. You can tell is a mom and pop shop, classic taiwanese dishes and great noodles. Server in front (Denny I think) is super nice and personable - looks like there were multiple regulars that he knew coming through. Spoke english and mandarin well. We had the beef noodle soup which had decent portions, great broth with a good peppery/salty taste without being overpowering. Noodles were great here. Looking forward to coming back!

Rosa G.

Yelp
I had been recommended this spot from a friend and it did not disappoint so delicious the cucumber cold salad was my favorite I got combination rice and combination chow mein and spicy wontons everything was delicious the wontons are the only thing that was ok nothing out of this world but I will say the service was amazing and the vibe so freaking nice! Will be going back

James L.

Yelp
I have had beef stew noodles all over the world and this is my favorite. It is always consistent delicious and service is always great!

Britney S.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing staff will come again! Make sure to carry cash as its cash only

Veronica L.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese food in LA. Grew up in the valley where the owner's parents had a restaurant. Love the food here. Owner Denny is super nice and the beef noodle soup, cucumber appetizer, potstickers, and rice cakes are the best.

Beauqui E.

Yelp
Homemade noodle soup is delicious. The service can be hit or miss depending on how they are busy. A lot of parking in their lot.

Erina W.

Yelp
My parents and I have been coming to Mandarin Noodle House for the past 20+ years, and it is the best spot for homey, authentic Taiwanese food. My favorite dishes are the green onion pancake, beef noodle soup, and the pork chop rice. I've been to many Chinese restaurants that also are great in the 626 but don't have the home-cooked taste. However, Mandarin Noodle does those types of dishes so well -- and has been -- consistently for the past 30 years in Monterey Park. It's a must go if you're craving a warm bowl of one of the best beef noodle soups, or are visiting the San Gabriel Valley area.

Yelp
Had dinner here with my family who are regulars and came in with such high hopes since they said it was some of the best beef noodle soup in the 626, but we all collectively agreed that something was off about the day we went. We ordered 2 spicy beef noodle soups, and 2 not spicy, and the soups were served nearly identical. The broth was also very bland and didn't have much flavor at all. The noodle texture was good, and there was a decent amount of beef, but this dish heavily relies on the broth for flavor that was lacking. The beef roll was very doughy and dry, and didn't have much filling either, leaving it to also be very bland. The green onion pancake was my favorite dish of the night, it was very flakey and had a handmade feel to it. The pan fried dumplings were good, but nothing noteworthy. To our surprise, the noodles with bean sauce ended up being a fan favorite within our group, we just ordered it to try something new but it ended up being one of the best dishes of the night. Maybe it was just an off day, but we'll have to come back to try the beef noodle again!

Yelp
Highly recommend the beef noodle soup! Spinach & potstickers were also delicious. I appreciated that the server was friendly & attentive. He spoke English and Chinese very well. Can't wait to come back :)

Yelp
I just love this restaurant! Recently, I been obsessed with Beef Noodle soup seeking to find out some of the best spots that Los Angeles has to offer... which brought me to Mandarin Noodle House. This mom n pop noodle house has been around since the 70s. Dining here feels like your eating at a friend's house. Upon walking in you will be asked if you like hot tea or water... The owner young man is so welcoming and warm! Observing him handling the whole restaurant while interacting with customers (new/locals) makes me think he is a hospitality wizard; a truly cool guy! Food: Their Stewed Beef Noodle Soup with handmade noodles is divine! The broth is beefy smooth without strong aromatics over powering one another, yet so fragrant. Not oily either. Tender stewed brisket, handmade noodles, and a handful of greens (spinach, cilantro, green onion) completes the dish. It's Oh My Gawd Delicious! The Pan Fried Dumplings were also very good to me. The skin is on the thicker side and the meat filing is mild tasting, but since I like to dip it in a "ponzu" like sauce that's salty and tangy; the mildness is perfect for my taste. The cucumber cold salad is a must. Garlicky, mild sweet, salty, and tangy. My only regret was I didn't order more food! It's okay I'll be back soon. I have a feeling I will be a regular at Mandarin Noodle House. Great food, wonderful service, inexpensive prices- 5 stars! CASH ONLY Small parking lot available.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and needed to eat. I came across this gem! I ordered the mandarin chicken and pork chow mein. The food was amazing! I will be back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Pretty authentic flavors! I especially enjoyed their pork chop rice, totally reminds me of the flavors in Taiwan. The owners are Taiwanese and they told me their parents are from Shandong, so I can imagine they must be really good at making noodles and dumplings. Will be back for more! Note: Cash only! They charged $0.5 for sour cabbage (yes, not included for the beef noodles, and extra $2 for the handmade noodles)

Yelp
FYI, place is cash only! That being said, food is delish! We were in the area for a Dodgers game, and we needed to grab a quick bite. Good thing we decided on this place. My son loved the Shrimp chowmein, and his exact words were "savory" Honestly, if this place was closer this would be a staple for us. Probably next time that were in town. Oh, and did I mention that the owner is extremely accommodating! Best experience ever!

Yelp
I haven't been to Mandarin Noodle House for years! I was wondering why I didn't visit there for so long. As I remember that it looked so old and outdated many years ago but I'm not sure that they renovated in recent years or not. The ambiance is so cozy and clean. Their food tasted not bad. We asked the server if we could order one cold salad dish but choose 2 different kinds into one order because we didn't want to have too much of one kind. I'm glad that he said okay. We chose cold pickled cucumber and cold shredded raddish salad. The cold pickled cucumber were cut into very small pieces but they tasted yummy. The cold shredded raddish salad tasted not bad but chewy. Their thin onion pancakes were a bit bland and lack of scallion so I won't order that next time. My favorite dish was their pork chop on rice and the pork chop was so flavorful and tender. Cash only.
