"With Korean mandoo dumplings, it’s either go big or go home. Fried on the bottom in a steamy enclosed vessel, these hedgehog-shaped purses bulge with ribeye, vegetables, and clear vermicelli. The mild flavor is exquisite, identical to the appetizer dumplings found in Korean barbecues, with a slight black pepper afterburn. These would be perfect if only the flavor were hiked up a notch. This small, local spot serves up some of the best Korean fusion food I’ve had. We dined in and ordered the pan-fried dumplings, steamed dumplings, and loaded fries—everything was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous for the price, it didn’t look like much but definitely filled us up! Before leaving, we grabbed a burrito to go, and it was just as amazing as the rest of the meal. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with delicious food and great value, this is the place to go. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu!

Google
Clean, friendly staff and great food. I thought the portions to be great but my fiancé felt his was stuffed with more rice than meat. We both did enjoy the flavor of our wraps. I ordered the bulgogi steak and he had the ultimate Tex-Mex. We will be back to try other items off their menu!

Google
We got spicy rice cake (ddukbokki) and pork & veggie dumplings and shrimp & pork dumplings. The two dumplings were pretty much the same except one had shrimp and the other didn't. I wish we got two different flavored ones. Nonetheless, they were juicy and good. I would skip the shrimp dumplings. It was $13 and not worth the price. Same with spicy rice cake. It was $17 and nothing special about it. Unfortunately, considering what you get for the price, we probably won't be back and won't recommend it.

Google
The food here was excellent. We tried steamed mandu, fried mandu, and the Korean fried chicken. We enjoyed it all. I’d never had Korean fried chicken before, and thought the spicy sauce was delicious while the breading was beautifully crispy. Dumplings are almost always satisfying, and the mandu here definitely hit the mark as well. The service was good but felt impersonal. You order through a machine at the counter and a server brings out your food when it’s ready. They were very nice during our brief interaction but the focus here is definitely on efficiency rather than catering to customers. It’s not the prettiest location or atmosphere but it’s still definitely worth coming to for the food.

This place is easily the best new restaurant in federal way by far! Probably in the south end. We’ve eaten here 3 times and everything we’ve tried has been as if it came from your Korean Grandmother. We’ve tried many things on these visits. I just can’t rave enuff about the quality of the ingredients. Everything is truly as fine as I’ve had anywhere. Every dish we’ve ordered comes artistically plated. This place is truly amazing. There are other mandu places in federal way. They’re good. This one blows them all away. They’re also doing it far differently than the other spots. I eat a lot of Korean food. This is hands down the best. Seen here are: Bulgoki, spicy hand made dumpling with Buldak sauce, and some ridiculously addictive kimchi fries. Fabulous!!!! Portions are large and everything is super fresh and made right when u order it. You just can’t go wrong here. Yay!!!!

Google
I made a takeout order on DoorDash for this place to try it out as I have had this place bookmarked from when they first opened. I got the shrimp and pork mandu and it took only a couple minutes for me to come pick it up. As I entered, no one really greeted me and it wasn't until I started walking to the counter that I saw two employees sitting behind the cashier. I didn't even see them until they stood up. I didn't receive any greetings or anything but just a curt, "Pick up?" and I told them it was a DoorDash order. They just promptly gave me my bag and didn't say much else. The inside is can easily seat a couple tables of four or less but they also have a huge table in the middle with several chairs on a very long table. There is a lack of decorations and they have several big screens just depicting some of their menu items but nothing else to really note. The mandu was great though! The dipping sauce was delicious with the dumplings and I love the amount of ingredients inside the mandu. It was definitely worth the price. I don't know if I'll be back though as they are very overpriced in their entrees. I know I do want to try Gogi on the Go (their sister brand) which is served here on Mondays through Thursdays, but the service was very unwelcoming and awkward.

Google
Super pumped to have found this Korean dumpling house. They serve a broad selection of steamed, pan-fried, or deep-fried dumpling deliciousness. And the kimchi pancake is a fantastic choice and is not to be overlooked.

Google
This place has an amazing food. I was excited to discover it. Homemade Korean food in a burrito or quesadilla, what a great idea!

Yelp
Quality food reasonably priced, kind and friendly staff! Highly recommended. My wife and I had dinner at Mandu-Ya tonight and were impressed with the quality of our meals. The dumplings were large and good. Japchae beef was our favorite the Bulgogi beef bowl was also great. We have visited Korea a number of times (12 hour layovers) so have a good idea how it's prepared in country. Our meals were prepared quickly. It was near their closing time so only one other family were there.

Yelp
Amazing food really enjoyed this place. Order from screen, and great, quick service. Simple decor, but the food is so good

Yelp
I was super intrigued by Mandu-Ya's Mexican-Korean fusion menu when I saw an Instagram video on them. My fiancé also has been raving about their food, so it was about time I head over to try! We ordered the hot flavored fries ($15) and the k-steak quesadilla ($15) to-go through the self ordering iPad. They had our food ready in less than 15 minutes, and we were excited to dig in when we got home. The fries were soooo flavorful with the sauces. The fries themselves were crispy, and the meat was marinated and cooked well. I would definitely get this again. I was a bit disappointed that the quesadilla did not come with nacho cheese and spicy mayo like advertised. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until we got home. Regardless, I felt like the quesadilla itself was solid - very cheesy and the meat was cooked until it was tender. It was just missing the sauces, which would have made it even more delicious!

Yelp
This was a small local place and they were friendly and made your food fresh, on the spot. Environment: it looked like an area that's fast food, though that's kind of the case, they don't rush you. It's small and the menu is a big touch screen for you to order on your own so you don't really need to chat with anyone unless you have a question. Staff: they give your food right away and are very kind as they greet you. Food: We ordered fried mandu and they were huge! Piping hot when we got it and it was flavorful and crispy. The steamed mandu were just as good and they give you a little chilli oil sauce to go with it and it was good. Both of the dishes look like it may not be enough for my friend and I but it was filling and very good. I am not sure about the price because my friend treated me but I the mandu ranged from $7-9. They had other dishes and also fusion foods such as Mexican and Korean food combined.

Kyle W.

Yelp
I went here for a relatively quick and casual meal and pricing and food quality are high up there. I went here closer to 6pm and it was not busy at all. You order at the front and take a seat anywhere. When the food is ready, they deliver to you, but you get your own water, etc and bus your own table. I personally ordered the hot flavored mandu as it has a more unique combination of ingredients compared to the standard fried or boiled mandu. Mandu is Korean dumplings, and this one has pork and vegetables with buldak sauce, mayo, and green onion. Buldak sauce is a pretty popular sauce that is from the buldak ramen (hot chicken flavor ramen) so it has a spicy kick to it. After all, this is "hot" for a reason. The mandu is deep fried and packs a lot of flavor. For the price of about $14 after tax for 6 pieces, this is a fair price and I was fairly stuffed at the end.

Yelp
I came here with my friend and I always wanted to try this place. It's my friend's first time trying Korean food. It is definitely a good start for her. When we first walked in, you have to order first before finding your seat. We got corn cheese Mandu, veggie and pork Mandu, rice cake with cheese and Japchae with beef. Everything seasoned so well. I personally love the corn cheese Mandu, it's crispy with the sweetness of the corn. Everything tasted so well! It's definitely a must get for each item. The whole place was quiet because there weren't many people there. Everything is pretty much self serve, but they will bring the food out to you.

Yelp
We've been meaning to try this place for ages...we should not have waited so long! It's a small shop and kind of off the beaten path in FW- seems like a lot of their business is takeout and delivery orders, but we ate in. Had 3 bulgogi items: burrito, mandu and tacos- all were delicious and made to order. My burrito was huge- I was only able to eat half, the other half will be lunch tomorrow. Next time, we'll be sure to mix things up a bit and try some of their other offerings. So glad that FW has such a vast array of wonderful spots for great food!!

Jocelyn Y.

Yelp
There was a Korean fusion menu on top of their regular menu! For dumplings we had their kimchi and pork dumplings (pork, kimchi, veggies, tofu, & glass noodles...one of us liked it a lot, the other said it was too much kimchi which made me personally not try them b/c Im not a big fan of kimchi), bulgogi dumplings (freaking yum! beef bulgogi with glass noodles, veggies, and tofu were a delicious combo), and pork and veggie dumplings (pork veggies and tofu were a juice tasty combo). We also ordered the corn cheese mandu, which is their version of korean corn cheese...in a little empanada. #nomnomnom #corncheeseheaven we are on #teamcorncheese, so we may be biased! Lastly, I was super surprised that I liked my couple of handful of bites of the kimchi fried rice. As you know, Im not a kimchi fan. I'd definitely order AND eat it again. On the fusion side, We tried the bulgogi tacos... the bulgogi, carrots, cabbage, grilled onions, cilantro, and a splash of spicy mayo on the corn tortilla was a fun combo in my mouth. My tastebuds were super happy! It's an excellent fusion! #FoodieLife #Foodie #foodiejourney #ManduYa #FoodieFamily #ARestaurantADay #supportlocalbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #LocalEats #FederalWayLocalEats #FederalWayKoreanFood #FederalWayKoreanDumplings #KoreanDumplingHouse #FoodPorn #RealFoodReviewFromRealPeople #IDontGetPaidForMyReview #ILoveDumplings #ILoveRealDumplings #ILoveFilledDumplings #DumplingsThatArentFilledArentDumplings ;) You can't change my mind. Yelp
This is a fast food Korean restaurant. Service was appropriately fast. The setting was typical for a fast food place. You order and pay at the counter but the food is brought to your table. We thought the dumplings we ordered were very good--large, crisp, hot, and tasty. But the jap chae was very salty/soy saucey and the noodles were too soft. Would try again for the dumplings.

TC B.

Yelp
We stopped in based on the recommendation of the Federal Way Foodie on the way from Angle Lake to Tacoma. The place was empty so seating was super quick! Service was friendly and fast and we ordered the kimchi fries, japchae, some pork and veggie mandu, and some shrimp and pork mandu. We accompanied that with two hot teas and a Diet Coke (of course). Everything looked so good that it was hard to choose. Everything was good! The kimchi fries were crispy and covered with lots of goodies. We loved them. Both mandu were very tasty and appropriately large (K dumplings ). The japchae was flavorful and perfectly done. I would recommend Mandu-Ya! It's a great place to grab some mandu and the kimchi fries are freakin' awesome!

Jordan D.

Yelp
Mandu-Ya had delicious food! It was self order, but they also had an option to order through a server. They also had self seating and self serve water station. The dumplings had a lot of filling and were juicy. Portions very generous, I left feeling satisfied and full. My favorite was the Kimchi and Pork dumplings! Would definitely come back if I'm in the area!

Carolyn D.

Yelp
I kept seeing videos of people eating at Mandu-Ya and I had to try. We went on a whim on Saturday night at around 5:30pm and there were only two other groups besides ours there. The store is a little bit hidden but we were able to get to it using Maps. For dumplings we ordered the shrimp and pork, kimchi and pork, and corn cheese. We also got tteokboki. The dumplings had a lot of filling and it seemed as though they were made with love. The kimchi and pork definitely was packed with flavor. The corn cheese dumpling stood out to me the most as it was very unique! I felt like I could eat so many of those. Definitely recommend getting the corn cheese dumplings if you come here. I felt like the prices for the dumplings are expensive for what they give you. The dumplings range from $13-17 for 6-7 pieces. I don't think that would stop me from coming back though, but it was a little surprising seeing the cost. Overall it was a cute, chill restaurant and I think I will be visiting again whenever I crave dumplings.

Samantha M.

Yelp
The food was tasty! I like the spicy mandu, fries and the spicy monster! I'd come back here again. It was easy to order since it's through a kiosk and there were empty booths and tables to choose seating from. The original name was Gogi on the Go and changed to Mandu-ya. I went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy. Parking was easy. I'll be back with friends!

Nayoung W.

Yelp
Decent korean dumpling shop. I came on a Saturday at 6pm and they were sold out of 3 of the dumpling types. Forced out of my preferred choices, I ended up getting the pork and shrimp steamed dumpling which was disappointing in size and taste for how much they cost. The mandoogook was great, came with a full bowl of dumplings and refreshing broth. Service was good, but it was clear they were understaffed. Ambiance is casual, and the seating isn't the most comfortable.

David B.

Yelp
Hidden gem of Federal Way. Food is amazing. Had the Bulgogi burrito and Kimchi fries and it is a battle to figure out which is better. Gun to my head it is the burrito.

Rachel V.

Yelp
I wanted to treat myself this evening so after looking at Yelp with restaurants that have dumplings, I settled on Mandu-Ya. It was a little on the pricier side (3 orders of Mandu/dumplings) came to $50 but I anticipated the price tag after seeing the other reviews. I think I have a different idea of what dumplings are supposed to be but I've also never heard of Mandu. Honestly Mandu reminds me of a fried egg roll wrapped in a empanada form. The corn cheddar Mandy's were excellent. Hot, crispy and unique. The corn was definitely canned corn but I like the taste of canned corn. The cheese was stretchy gooey as soon as you bit in. I love that stretch. The flavored sour cream drizzle on top really heightened the taste. It was a wonderful little Mandu. 8 out of 10 The shrimp & pork dumplings are more like what I envisioned. I liked how they had the shrimp tail stick out. Visually appealing. They were steamed and still hot when I picked them up. The shrimp flavor was a little overpowering for me, you can't really taste the pork. (But I think this means the ingredients were fresh.) And the overall filling fell short for me. It needed more spices in the filling. I would rate these a 6 out of 10. The Hot Flavored Mandu were quite tasty. 9 out of 10. I loved the spicy sriracha drizzle on top. Fried to perfection. The filling was pork and vegetables and it was seasoned well. (Or maybe the introduction of the sriracha drizzle added a spicy sweetness to the overall crunchy bite.) My husband also loved these best as well. Little messy but so worth it. I definitely recommend eating these mandus when they're hot and crispy. Perhaps your air fryer could heat these up perfectly. Service was excellent and they were ready within 15min. Friendly staff!

Mary N.

Yelp
Alright listen here...the Fried Hot Flavored Mandu is WHERE IT IS AT. So good, so crispy, and so spicy. What more could you ask for? If you don't like crispy and spicy then might I suggest the bulgogi bowl (good in its own regard but equally as filling of course). I haven't tried their other dumpings but I'm sure they taste the same -just steamed and not spicy -which like, come on, is the only reason I'm here. Solid place for food! I'd recommend.

Richard K.

Yelp
We went there on opening day, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We sat down and were greeted immediately with menus. We ordered our food and quickly to our surprise we received our food orders very fast. The only downside was the food was mediocre and didn't really give much flavor. Not bad. Just wasn't as good as we had hoped. I will attribute most of this, just because it was grand opening day, until I am sure that they were experiencing some grand opening jitters.

Tori L.

Yelp
I'll give them 3.5-stars. The best dishes were Kimchee fried rice & corn cheese mandu. Everything else was just ok, prob will not order again. Pan fried mandu was disappointing especially since it was $16. We paid $140 w/tip....Little pricy for what we got.

Project Pat H.

Yelp
Came here for the dumplings but stayed here for the burrito. Y'all this place pops off. Stay trill. 5 stars.

Teri N.

Yelp
Cute little place that I found on yelp! It was pretty crowded. We ordered 2 different dumplings, corn n cheese and pork and veggie, Kim chee fried rice and dumpling soup. They all tasted good, I really wanted to try the chop chae dumplings but this place is kinda pricey so I will save that for the next visit! Would I come back yes cause I need to try the chop chae dumplings!!

Yan L.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place out since it was a recommended location by a friend. I didn't find the food to be extraordinary though like people say.. the lunch special was good but the katsu I got was super hard and dry. The fried rice was good and flavorful. The rest was just ok. Portion size for lunch special is good. The pork and veggie dumplings nothing special. I did like the fried Mandu with corn and cheese though. You only get one side of radish that isn't great and tasted packaged. Overall, I don't think I'll be back; place was kinda stingy with utensils, sides, and napkins.. def overly hyped. It saddens me to write that since it seems like its a family own location.

Julie J.

Yelp
Quick, easy to order and wow, the mandu were SO good. I really loved the spicy pork seasoning - flavorful and has a kick. Will absolutely be returning.

Long N.

Yelp
Foods are actually tasty here and the price is great for the portion. Their pan cake was surprisingly good considering it doesn't look as fluffy as other places. Will definitely come back to try other mandu dishes. I deducted 1 star because they need ro up their banchan. We had to ask for it and they just had kimchi (flavorful though) and weird marinated onion.

Otis S.

Yelp
Been looking for a good Korean bbq burrito and I think I finally found it! Super flavorful

JiHye Y.

Yelp
I LOVE DUMPLINGS and mandu-ya lives up to its name and does them SO WELL. came across this place in the midst of a huge steamed dumpling craving and was so so so satisfied by their perfect kimchi mandu. We also got the lunch combo (spicy pork, fried rice, 2 fried dumplings) which was also a great portion size and so delicious. The service was amazing and our server was so kind/attentive/friendly/consistently refilled our tea for us!! Truly enjoyed this little mandu place and I hope many others get to try :)

Yun C.

Yelp
Service: very kind gentleman served us. Felt very comfortable. Food: Mandu and spicy cold noodles tasted great. Can't wait to try other dishes. We will definitely be back

Justin S.

Yelp
One of the best Asian fusion restaurants in the greater Seattle area. Our party had a different variety of items off of their menu and every single thing was incredibly delicious. I would highly recommend their bulgogi burrito, absolutely amazing. To top off the amazing food, The staff there are top tier. My partner left her purse in the restaurant and we didn't realize for 30 minutes after we left. I called the restaurant and spoke with one of the staff. They had already secured the purse and we ended up picking it up several hours later. 10/10 food. 11/10 staff. Gotta try this place!!!!

Joni M.

Yelp
So good! Will go back. The cheese dumplings were amazing. All of it was good. My kids didn't like the regular dumplings.

Abdirizak A.

Yelp
I saw the food from this video amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP2i_T3c_Qc&t=1s

Diana L.

Yelp
I can't wait to go back! After coming back from Korea just a few weeks ago, and missing the mandu that I used to make with my grandma, we decided to try out this fairly new spot. Let me tell you, when they say handmade dumplings, it is 100% handmade. Everything was so tasty and perfectly cooked. The staff is friendly and service was great. We had the pork/vegetable, kimchi, and shrimp/pork/vegetable mandu, and an order of wings. The wings were perfectly sauced and crispy. We also got the knife cut noodles (spicy seafood), which was also really good. Looking forward to eating here again soon!

Joe M.

Yelp
This place is part of our regular rotation. Seriously some of the most creative yummy menus I've ever seen in one place. Everything made fresh when u order it. Always a great experience for us.

Paola R.

Yelp
This food was cooked with love. The flavors are on point, took us right back to Korea.

Percy S.

Yelp
Jap Chae all day! i don't know what more to say and i need 85 characters so I will type more to get this review out the door.

Kikiann S.

Yelp
Okay, when you first sit down and take a look at the Menu it's deceiving the pictures do not do justice for the food. ‍ The food tasted great, the hot Mandu was our favorite appetizer, it was just perfect. Perfect amount of sauce and crispiness. The plates were flavorful and filling and the eggs were just made perfect & service was fast too! Will be going back soon but it will hurt your pockets, it's on the pricer side.

Steven S.

Yelp
Have yet to order anything disappointing, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The fries are an absolute must try! The spicy pork fries are the best fry dish I've ever had, have to stop myself from getting them everyday. The New Mexican Korean fusion dishes are fantastic also, spicy pork quesadilla is another must.

John R.

Yelp
Food ordered; Spicy Monster Burrito was all of the above... a monster size and just the right amount of spicy (medium for me) AND it was delicious.... My partner ordered the bulgogi tacos and reported Super Yummy, thus everyone loved the meal.

Crystal G.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of visiting ManduYa on its grand opening day (July 1, 2023), and I was absolutely blown away. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the food was simply amazing. We ordered the Pan Fried Mandu, Corn Cheese Mandu, Japchae, and Kimchee Fried Rice. Out of all the dishes we ordered, the corn cheese mandu won me over. It was unique and something I've never had before, 10/10 would reccommend. Our dishes also came with this onion and jalapeno concoction which on its own, was very good. Overall, our experience at ManduYa was absolutely outstanding. The food was incredible, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience.

Nicole O.

Yelp
Great food and service. Really filling. The highlight for me was the cheese teokkbokki and pork/veg dumplings

Katie O.

Yelp
Tucked away in a strip mall is some of the greatest Korean food I've eaten in a long time. The dumplings are fantastic, and do not miss the spicy beef soup! It's a perfect antidote to the cold damp PNW weather! HUGE portions.

Farrah L.

Yelp
Mandu-Ya opened up recently in Federal Way and they are a Korean dumpling house that handmade their dumplings. They also have other Korean dishes like Kalguksu, japchae, tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice and etc... they have the traditional mandu like pork or kimchi mandu but I thought it was unique that they had Korean dumplings like corn cheese, japchae and buldak mandu. I got the Corn Cheese, Hot Flavored Mandu (buldak), and Shrimp & Pork. The hot flavored mandu is definitely pretty spicy since they use the buldak sauce. The corn cheese is such a unique dumpling and I haven't had anything like that before, but I was really impressed and liked that dumpling the best. We also got some other dishes like the kimchi fried rice, tteokbokki and Kalguksu. The portions are pretty big so it was a lot of food for two people. Jay, the owner, was super nice to take care of us and I thought overall the food here is pretty good! Note: The one thing I'll point out is that the location is kinda hidden as it's behind the main buildings. It's in this huge plaza but there are plenty of parking spots. It's just a little hard to find if you're on the Main Street in federal way with all the restaurant and retail stores.

Analiese B.

Yelp
Mandu Ya is sooooo good! I ordered the shrimp and pork dumplings, kimchi dumplings, corn cheese mandu, japchae, bulgogi rice plate, cheese tteok-bokki, hot flavored mandu, and kimchi fries. My favorite was the corn cheese mandu which is unlike anything I've ever had before. The dumpling has the perfect balance of crunchiness and creaminess. I love the variation of dumplings they offer as all are so unique and flavorful. A must try!

Matthew F.

Yelp
Cool idea but $15 for 6 little dumplings doesn't make it worth the trip for me. Tried the corn cheese mandu and was expecting gooey melty cheese, that wasn't the case though. Also had the spicy mandu which looked just like some potstickers covered in hot sauce.

Betsy H.

Yelp
Well worth a the detour through Federal Way construction. We got 4 different mandu, the sweet corn cheese, the japchae, the bulgogi, and the chicken. Split among 4 people, it was the perfect amount of food to leave us full but not uncomfortably stuffed. We all WANTED more though because each one was just so delicious. Buckwheat tea on tap hit the spot. Service was instant and friendly. Decor is minimalist but who cares. The food is outstanding.

DJ J.

Yelp
Good atmosphere and decent pricing. Ordered two dumpling and beef dish. Dumpling was really great and brings my memories back from the motherland. Friendly service as well! Will be back for more!

Jeremy K.

Yelp
The mandus are very good and the ambiance is very nice with good lighting and atmosphere. I recommend the steamed mandus.

Meaghan U.

Yelp
I had the beef bulgogi rice plate. The flavors were great! The reason for only 3 stars is that it was $17.99 and the portion was extremely small. If I pay that price I at least want to be full by the end of eating it but I was still hungry. Considering their location can't be seen from any streets they will not last long unless they either increase the portion size or decrease the price.

Yelp
Delicious dumplings! Their spicy fried chicken and kimchi fried rice is a go to for me. The homemade kimchi is as good as anything I've had at my Korean friends homes!
