Mangé des Îles

I came for Friday lunch at Mange des Iles and I really enjoyed it. To get the negative out of the way first, the wooden chairs and tables aren't the most comfortable. However, that was easily forgotten considering how much I enjoyed the food. I got a starter of potato pakora and chana puri that was served with a deliciously zingy fresh green chilli sauce. The pakora was crisp if a touch on the oily side, but the chana puri was absolutely fantastic and paired so well with the sauce. Then for my main I got the lamb curry which had wonderful depth of flavour and was served with a fresh salad to add a crispy and cooling bite. Service was very friendly and extremely quick, so I would definitely come again.

My first time trying Mauritian food and it was fun. I had chicken biryani and an almond flavoured soda called Eski. The biryani was flavourful and the portion was adequate. I liked the beach shack vibe. The chairs could be more comfortable. It is definitely worth a visit.

Second visit. This time I enjoyed some traditional Mauritian food with my teenage son. Good variety on the menu, enjoyed a couple of starters (Dal Puri's fully loaded, gateaux pimma) then a lamb curry and a chicken/prawn noodle soup (Mine Bouilli). Great food at a good price with nice tunes in the background.

Having featured on the recent 'Taste of Planet Tooting' Food tour where a selection of tasty appetisers blew people away, we had to go back for a full meal. What a delight; pakoras with Ravi's legendary green chilli sauce, Mauritian style noodles and aubergine fish curry followed by cassava cake washed down with Phoenix beer, to the accompaniment of the buzz of early-evening Tooting Market was the perfect start to our Saturday night! The service from Ravi and family was outstanding & our Belgian guests were so taken they are planning a trip to Mauritius!

The food here is great! It's typical Mauritian food. I've been here a few times and loved it so much that I even ended up doing a catering order for my birthday party. People who had never tried Mauritian food at my party asked for leftovers. Everyone left with a takeaway box or two! The dhall puris are my favourite. Highly recommend the butterbean curry (and chilli if you are brave)! The bhajis are best when they are freshly fried. My favorite are the cabbage bhajis. I've had the chicken and lamb briyani. They are definitely along the Mauritian side which we serve dry with chutneys and salad (I.e. no vegetable curry). The fried noodles are also rally good and must be tried with the garlic sauce. The alouda is also worth a try especially if you are having any food with the chilli sauce. The vanilla flavoured milk is not only tasty but helps you cool down. All in all, great Mauritian restaurant which reminds me of Mauritius. Ravi is always an amazing host. When we did the catering order, he did a follow up call to make sure everything was fine and in order. 😋🥘🍜 🇲🇺 🦤

The best authentic Mauritian food in London! The owner and staff are so friendly and really transport you to the islands. The home made piment was the cherry on top and the rum punch is exquisite! Highly recommend!

Haven't been to Mauritius but the ambiance is that of being on an island, Somewhere exotic, colourful and vibrant, Food intrinsically delicious but prices fair and transparent, Loving every attention to detail in preparing, serving and finally in the eating! Been here several times before. On this occasion the service was brilliant but as we were eating in the evening a lot of the speciality foods on the menu were not available. The food we did have was tasty, served fresh and hot.
