Where Philly’s Chinatown Community Leaders Go to Eat

"This New York Chinatown-based chain opened a Philly location a few years ago. Samuel Chueh’s favorite order is the mango shaved ice, which is as delicious as it is meta: while mere mortals would top shaved ice with condensed milk and mango, these fine folks make actual mango shaved ice and then load it with fresh mango and glutinous rice balls, topped with mango ice cream. Asian Arts Initiative’s executive director Anne Ishii waxes poetic about the mango mochi, which she describes as a sleeper hit. “So soft and chewy with a light dusting of coconut flakes (very light otherwise it would be bad), and inside is a perfect little block of fresh mango as a treat,” she says. “It’s seriously so ridiculous.” For those in the mango mood who want to mix it up, Albert Lee recommends the mango fruit tea at Mr. Wish, a tea shop chain based in Taiwan." - Diana Lu

Mango Mango Review - Chinatown - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Open until midnight, this Chinatown spot is huge and the menu is full of crepes, waffles, pancakes, and plenty of mango-themed sweets. As a plus, they’ve got a big upstairs lounge area to seat a crew, which is perfect when everyone’s had a few drinks, or if it’s a weeknight and the whole group just wants dessert." - Jordan Price

Google
Mango Mango was a delightful experience for any mango lover! The café offers a creative and delicious selection of mango themed desserts that truly live up to the hype. Although we had to wait a little before being seated, it was well worth it. We tried a variety of items, and each one was bursting with rich mango flavor. The highlight for us was the Mango Pancake a unique and fun twist we hadn’t tried before. The ambiance was cozy, and the presentation of the desserts added to the overall experience.

Google
I tried their mango sago and matcha crepe cake. The mango was very fresh, and the crepe cake was nice and creamy. I also wanted to recognize the server that day for being patient with me. I got there early and had to wait awhile. He was really nice and courteous. The ambiance is nice, although some of the seats were starting to crack.

Google
A mango lover’s dream. They have an extensive menu of mango themed desserts. Everything I’ve had here has been good - the mangoes are very fresh. I’ve visited their locations in Texas & Chicago and the quality here is consistent. Very busy if you’re looking to sit in.

Google
I used to went the one that’s in Edison New Jersey. But since we’re in China town for a day and I saw this place so I told my husband let’s go buy desserts. The place was packed. Planned to sit and eat but the crowds made us changed our mind to order to go instead. If I compare the set up for sitting from Edison NJ is much better than this one on Chinatown but at least we got our desserts and everything that we ordered was good.

Google
Mango mango 🥭 was such a great dessert place. They had so many different mango snacks to choose from. They have a few other flavors but are limited because, duh, it’s mango mango. We also got these drinks and they were delicious. It’s located on the Chinatown section of the city. This is such a cute date, or link of any kind. Go!!! Enjoy!!

Google
We were here on a Tuesday night and they’re packed. However the wait is not too long and we get seated almost right away. Also, their mango are fresh and not too sweet. Perfect dessert for my Asian tongue.

Google
Cute dessert Cafe where mango is the main focus! We had the A2 as well as the A11. The A2 was very refreshing and tasty but I do wish it had more mango. The A11 (the one on the plate) had a lot of mango and was good but missing some padan in my opinion. We enjoyed both though! You can sit down and have dessert but also order to go and even pre order for pick up.

Google
Unique dessert experience. Long wait to be seated. The staff there was friendly and efficient service. Once we got a table, we tried the Delicious Mangoes Black Rice and Mangoes Crepe Cake (nice mixture of flavors balancing tangy sweetness of the mangoes with rich textures of the crepe cake).

Yelp
Have wanted to try Mango Mango for a while. I never made it to the one nearest to me in Cleveland, but stopped by when visiting my cousins in Philly. The dessert shop is situated in Chinatown in downtown Philly. The service was fast and friendly, without being rushed. We ordered the mango crepe and the mango juice with sago, lychee jelly, strawberries, mangos, and mango ice cream. The clear winner was the mango bowl with the jelly and ice cream. It was so nicely balanced and not overly sweet. Not for once did we think we are overindulging. The mango ice cream was perfect. I want a gallon of that to go. The crepe was okay. I thought the layers of crepe were too thin; therefore, leaving each bite with too much of the whipped cream in between the layers. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone and would suggest a classic or sundae dessert for the full experience.

Yelp
I visited on a weekend evening after dinner in Chinatown, craving a quick dessert bite that was nearby. The space was packed, which comes as no surprise since it has a pretty extensive sweets menu with a lot of rich, diverse options. My mango cake was very light and delicious, and the extra fruits on the side in addition to the slice made for a great finish to the evening. I've tried the brûlée and green tea flavors before as well, and would recommend those two in particular. The only knock from five stars was that service was a bit slow for my visit unfortunately; the server came by our table a few times but we had to wave him down to pay. Mango Mango does also do pickup options as well, so it's still a very versatile spot for dessert in or to go.

Yelp
Mango Mango Dessert is a popular Asian dessert chain that specializes in mango sweets. It is an ideal spot to go to for a sweet treat and it is usually pretty packed. There is an extensive menu with plenty of options to choose from and it is not only mango desserts! You get seated and place an order through a "waiter," which is interesting for a dessert spot. However, the desserts come out really quickly. At this location, there is a lot of seating as there are both top and bottom floors, although the top floor seems to only be open at specific times. My friends and I ordered the Strawberry Mango Juice Sago & Lychee Jelly with Mango Ice Cream, Special Mango Juice Sago & Pomelo with Mango Ice Cream, and the Brown Sugar Cream Puff. The mango desserts were pretty sweet and yummy! I think I prefer eating mango on its own as a fruit, so having it in dessert form was a bit much for me. The Brown Sugar Cream Puff fell short for me as well; it was really hard to bite into and it tasted a bit bitter, which I did not enjoy. Overall, I think Mango Mango Dessert is a good place to check out for aesthetic desserts that use common Asian flavors!

Yelp
Food: The BEST dessert place in Chinatown. Maybe all of Philadelphia. I love fruity and refreshing desserts with sago or rice balls. Pictured are some of my favorite! If coming with a big group, I recommend the mango shaved ice. It's huge and can probably feed about 6 people. The fruit are usually ripe but it can depend on the season. The menu is very extensive and even includes hot desserts. There is something on the menu for everyone! I also enjoy that it is not too sweet. Other things I recommend are the mango mochi or strawberry mochi (only available on weekends) and crepe cakes. Service: Quick & polite. Nothing to complain about. Ambiance: It's a relatively small restaurant. It does have a small seating area upstairs. It can be incredibly busy on weekends and there is no waiting area.

Yelp
although the menu had lots of options, I ordered the mango and strawberry smoothie and it was very good! it had chunks of strawberries and mango as well as some sort of clear jelly at the bottom which added great texture. we also ordered the mango sundae which was very sweet but delicious. our server was very nice and everything came out quickly!

Yelp
Just, lovely! Great service despite it being super busy. Extensive menu. Easy checkout. I tried the mango crepe slice and the mango and black rice dish that was atop perfectly sweetened milk ice. My fav was hands down, the black rice dish! Will absolutely add this to my chinatown list!

Yelp
I got the mango pancake, which was really soft and really tasty. My friend got the mango crêpe cake, but unfortunately, the mangoes in her cake were raw. They initially forgot about her order, but ended up making her order once we told them about it. That may have been attributed to it being a super busy day at this restaurant. Besides our table of eight people, every other single table was filled up. It seems to be a really popular dessert spot in Chinatown. There are so many amazing desserts on the menu, so I am curious to try some other desserts, and will be returning again.

Yelp
Mango Mango is an Asian dessert chain that specializes in mango sweets. There's plenty of indoor seating in this location on the top and bottom floor. It's a great place for a dessert date or to pick up a post meal treat. The line moves quick but some of the desserts take a while to come out. The branding and aesthetic is nice for someone who likes to take Insta pics and is looking for a pretty dessert. The oreo crepe cake is sweet and delicious - the texture was amazing - I'd rate it a 9/10. The Strawberry Mango Juice Sago had a good mix of flavors and textures - I'd rate it a 9/10 as well. The mango crepe cake was good - the layers were even and filled well. I wish it were a little more sweet, I'd rate it an 8.5/10. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an aesthetic and tasty dessert that makes you feel satisfied!

Yelp
Mango was delicious, ripe, and sweet - fresh, not frozen (you can see them on the way to restroom). They serve room temp water in a paper cup, but you're probably not going there for the water. Mango crepe cake was solid - mango was definitely the best part about it. Plenty of seating and staff was friendly. Great place to check out if you're craving perfectly ripe mango!!

Yelp
This is a very popular dessert place in Chinatown with a menu full of mango themed desserts. The place was busy on a Friday night. There was no one to ask for a table in the front so we ended up waiting through the to go line to find someone to get us on the waitlist. They gave you a beeper which vibrated when your table was ready. From there, the wait for a table was about 20 minutes for 5 people. We got the mango shaved ice which was heaped with mango, tapioca pearls, and a scoop of mango ice cream for $16. This is big enough for 3-4 people and is only available for dine in. I would have liked a little more sauce on the shaved ice, but the mango was super soft and sweet and the mango ice cream was super flavorful. Overall worth it to go out to dessert with a few people in Chinatown!

Yelp
The chocolate crepe cake and mango ice cream item on the menu were my favorites! Def have to come here again to try other menu items. 3 people and we shared these two items. Lots of sitting area and solid late night spot post dinner!

Yelp
Fantastic dessert and great service! Super cute place with ample seating too. So glad we came across this gem! If we weren't so full from lunch just now, we'd order so much more so we could try all the different desserts here that look so amazing!

Yelp
I loved the Strawberry Mango Juice Sago & Lychee Jelly with Mango Ice Cream. I would recommend it to anyone if they have a sweet tooth and love a fruity taste. The mango crepe was good as well and very soft and yummy. The service was very nice along with a cozy ambiance.

Yelp
After gorging ourselves at Reading Terminal Market (Filipino BBQ, lumpia, Philly cheesesteaks, beignets, fried shrimp po'boys), we desperately needed to burn some calories so we took a stroll through Chinatown nearby. iUnfortunately, our efforts were thwarted upon seeing Mango Mango down one of the side streets. We were seriously un-hungry but all of us are mango fiends (that's the Filipino in me I guess) and we couldn't resist giving this a try). It was a late afternoon when we stopped in, and the establishment was mostly empty. Very different from the experience at Hui Lau Shan in Cupertino, CA, where there are lines out the door at seemingly all hours of the day. We considered the extensive menu and made our selections to share. Mango with sago and lychee jelly, and herbal jelly - normally you choose just one of the jellies, but we couldn't decide and ultimately paid for some extra herbal jelly on the side. Mango was very fresh tasting, and the sago and jelly provided some textural variation that was very nice. Mango pannacotta - I'm a sucker for pannacotta and the moment I saw this on the menu I knew I was ordering it. The pannacotta was delightfully light and creamy, the mango was sweet and juicy. Prices were similar to slight less than equivalent desserts in the Cupertino/Sunnyvale/Santa Clara area. Service seemed a little indifferent but that's fine. The decor is pleasant and the dining room is airy and bright. Snyways, though this was a small sampling of their delicacies, it was a very good experience and since I'm going be in Philadelphia quite a bit over the next few years, I'll certainly be back.

Yelp
we were seated fast and shaved ice came out quick! so so good , what more can I say !

Yelp
Dessert place that was affordable and delicious! My friend loves durian and she was happy that there was a durian dessert there. I liked the mango sago with the mini tang yuans and we also got the mango shaved ice which was gigantic!!!

Yelp
Interior 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 Food 4.5/5 Price 4.5/5 This place is a solid dessert choice for all mango lovers. It is not very sweet but it definitely hits the spot. The ice cream and mangos pair perfectly together.

Yelp
Had dessert for dinner here with zero regrets! Wish I'd have had room to try more or time to go back. I noticed there's one of these a few hours from where I live and I'm aching to go to that one as well. Well worth the time to stop in this great place in Chinatown. So glad we tried it.
google avatar

Yelp
Really good, I could see this being a cute spot to catch up with friends. Construction next door but they are still open.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my go to dessert place. The shaved ice and mango pancake is to die for. The price is kinda expensive but is totally worth it worth it
google avatar

Yelp
Back at mango mango again! Based on other places I've had sticky rice, I would say that mango mango leverages its amazing decor and customer service to balance out the good but not great mango sticky rice. Mango mango is pretty solid, but I wouldn't say it's the best place. I've tried these types of desserts which isn't the bad thing at all. I think you are paying more for the experience and the atmosphere with the boxes of mingles laying around and watching dozens of people enjoying their desserts around you. This time around I had some type of mango cheesecake which was pretty good along with the mango chunks next to it. They do make some variations of smoothies which I want to try next time for sure.
google avatar

Enna J.

Yelp
Everything was soooo good. It was our first time having the warm sesame dessert. It was like a sweet porridge...perfect for a chilly day. The mangos are perfectly sweet and juicy. Atmosphere and service was upbeat, happy and friendly.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
We got the mango shaved ice. The staff gave us a heads up that it's big. It absolutely can feed 4+ people or 2+ very very hungry people. The shaved ice isn't too sweet and is topped with fresh sweet mango cubes, vanilla ice cream, and mango drizzle, and some sort of tapioca balls. I almost wish it was sweeter it by the end, we finished all the toppings and were left with just the shaved ice part. I've had some where they give you condensed milk on the side that you can pour over, but this shaved ice was definitely on the "not too sweet" side. It was solid. I loved seeing all the mango themed items and boxes of mangos. It was fun and very filling. We asked for a to go container for our leftovers and they gave the cutest little reusable temperature resistant bag.
google avatar

Caitlin L.

Yelp
Mango Mango is a classic Chinatown go-to dessert spot. My bf and I came here on a Monday night at 9 pm-ish, and we were lucky to snag a table. I was surprised to see so many people here on a Monday; this is a testament to Mango Mango's popularity! Reliable, classic, and sweet but not too sweet. We ordered A1 - special mango juice sago and pomelo with mango ice cream. The flavors pair very nicely with one another and ranges from various textures from the slippery mango to the soupy sago and the pomelo topping. It's been a while since I've had Mango Mango, and this was a stark reminder that I've been missing out!
google avatar

Linh L.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick mango delight! We came right around opening and were the first two customers of the day. We ordered their sago and asked for ice cream on the side. Mango sago was a tad watered down but still hit the spot. Cute and cozy spot in the heart of Chinatown
google avatar

Vie L.

Yelp
My favorite dessert spot in Chinatown, Philadelphia. I ordered the Mango Sundae, and it was delicious. Their mango ice cream is the best, in my opinion. Cozy Spot for hangout with friend and family too.

Mary Z.

Yelp
I can't recommend Mango Mango enough. It is so good. Friendly staff and cute space but nothing compares to the mangos. Theres a variety of desserts and I want to go back and try every single one
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
If you are craving a quick bite of sweets, Mango Mango is the place for you! -- Highlight: The menu boasts a wide variety of both traditional Asian desserts and classical desserts like cakes, ice cream, waffles! -- Mango Mango possesses a menu with so many options it is overwhelming! If you're someone, like me, who gets overwhelmed by many menu options, I would recommend picking a dessert beforehand. Every time I go to Mango Mango, it is packed and I always feel like I'm being rushed in and out so there isn't much time to decide leisurely or eat slowly. This latest time, we were rushed out so they could prepare for a large group waiting to be seated. Thus the service, though in no fault of their own as I know they have to seat patrons, is always stressful. This is usually worsened since speed of food being brought out doesn't match how fast they want you to clear tables. Additionally, since it is always so packed, it is always LOUD, especially on the first floor. They offer upstairs seating (not accessible, I believe), which is quieter and little less packed whereas downstairs there are tables on top of tables downstairs. The Triple Ice Cream Delight was nothing special. It felt like ice cream scooped out of a container, not sure what I was expecting... However, for ice cream, there are better places with comparable prices nearby, so I would recommend skipping this option. The snow white mango juice with herbal jelly was tasty! For me, I felt it was a good portion for one person. I love coconut, so it was especially good. I wish the mangos were a little fresher, however, since they were a bit stringy. Overall, if you're looking for a dessert place that has many options for desserts that will satisfy even the pickiest eater, Mango Mango is the place! I would recommend coming with a smaller group and at an off hour for a more pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
On a day trip we stopped by because: Mango! Everything was delicious! Mango was ripe and sweet. Coconut ice cream was rich! Service was prompt and attentive!
google avatar

Juer Y.

Yelp
Amazing mango mochi and mango pancakes! The service is fast, and the servers were kind and attentive. The ambiance is great with cute decor, but it could get busy and crowded inside
google avatar

Meg D.

Yelp
We wanted a little dessert to-go after a dumpling crawl in Chinatown. I tried the mango mille cake! Personally, it wasn't my favorite. Something about the filling's texture and mango flavor together felt off to me. But my friend's Ube mille cake was really good! Packaging was 10/10! Menu is extensive so I'd love to go back and try something else
google avatar

Lila P.

Yelp
A great place to get some Asian desserts. Surprising always crowded even during non-typical lunch/dinner hours. Instead of my usual mango or durian desserts, I opted for hot dessert with black sesame soup with peanut mochi! Not too sweet and full of black seame goodness.
google avatar

Meghna B.

Yelp
If you love mango flavored desserts then this is the place for you! The dessert menu is quite large and has pretty much any type of mango dessert that you could want. The mango sundae is SO good and is a must try! The ice cream itself is very smooth and creamy and not overly sweet at all. It's the perfect balance of mango and creaminess. I also tried the mango passionfruit soufflé, which was just okay but nothing special. I would personally go with the mango sundae or try out something else on the menu!
google avatar

Amarco D.

Yelp
I ordered delivery here and they gave the Uber driver the incorrect delivery twice. I called to try and see if I could just pick up the order they made, but they said no. Seems pretty wasteful to me. I really have a hard time understanding how difficult it is to ensure the driver has a correct order or at least trying to solve the issue by allowing me to pick it up. To make matters worst the person who answered the phone was completely disrespectful. If I could give this place negative stars I would.
google avatar

Komal R.

Yelp
Desserts cannot get better than this. Their Matcha and Mango Mille cakes are heavenly but I recently tried their Ube Mille cake which is really good as well. And look how pretty!
google avatar

Jane B.

Yelp
So yummy the bag is so cute too! I ordered online with door dash and got the mango pancake. So delicate and delicious.
google avatar

Jonathan K.

Yelp
If you like mangoes, you hit the jack pot. This place serves all types of desserts based off of mangoes from mango smoothies to mango ice cream to mango crepea to mango cake. I got the mango sundae. For $8, they give you two very large scoops of mango ice cream. I was alone and had to struggle to finish it all (also pretty sure I got diabetes by the end of my last bite). I also appreciated he fresh mango pieces that went along with the ice cream. Definitely a must try if you are in Chinatown.
google avatar

Derick D.

Yelp
Most desserts are ready at 1-2. The king durian pancake is good. Want to come back to try the others.
google avatar

Tracesofusjmc H.

Yelp
So so yummy !! Desserts come out super fast!! We also had the oreo crepe cake !! Bathrooms was very clean!

Di S.

Yelp
I feel like I would love this place had I ordered the right thing. Mango mochi just isn't my thing. Will try the mango cups with ice cream next time
google avatar

Chanthorn H.

Yelp
I love their desserts here! It's not too sweet and very refreshing. They have fruits, jello, ice cream, crepe cakes, drinks and more. I like anything that has mangoes and the lychee jello. Those are my must haves. There have been a few times where the fruit (mostly strawberry) was beyond sour though, so I do recommend coming when the fruit is in season if you want that. Anyone I have introduced this place to loves it and I will surely be back.
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
Mango heaven.. The combo of my favorite fruits.. Cubed mango and pomelo drowning juice, coconut jellies and sago. Enough said.
google avatar

Priscilla C.

Yelp
I will have mango mango dreams till I have the chance to go again. The desserts were surprisingly light, not too sweet and great texture. They have an easy to order picture menu of smoothies/ boba, crepes and classic desserts. I very much enjoyed mango sago with coconut ice cream. The mango was perfectly ripe juicy and sweet sitting in a creamy liquid with sago tapioca balls and creamy coconut ice cream. I shared with my partner and it was the perfect dessert to share for two. My girls tried the strawberry banana Nutella crepe with vanilla ice cream. We were fighting for the last bite.
google avatar

Chetan S.

Yelp
Cozy little place right in the middle of Chinatown, usually packed over the weekends and you will need to wait to be seated (no they don't take reservations). They have an awesome spread of desert options, teas, crepe's, sundaes, waffle ice cream sandwiches, smoothies and shakes.. best part is everything is tasteful and not too sweet to pump you up.. love that most of the options are with fruits which helps keep it light.. taste never disappoints but service can get slow depending on the rush.. Crepe cakes are definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Sammi L.

Yelp
Despite the abundance of dessert stores in Chinatown, I always opt to visit this particular restaurant for dessert because it's my favorite. Due to the popularity and quality of the sweets, there is always a wait because the fruits are cut fresh for each order. This is a popular spot for folks to grab something to eat and catch up with friends. The staff is kind and always gets what I need, including quickly refilling my water. It's unusually busy here, so please be mindful of your server's workload. It's wonderful that they have begun offering to-go dessert options, but I wouldn't suggest getting dessert for some of the ice cream options and waffles because they are highly likely to melt, and the to-go carriers do not keep desserts in coolers--this is just common sense. Desserts are always excellent, and I heartily suggest them!
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
THE spot for post-meal desserts. I almost never go to the NYC locations, but in Philly, somehow my group of friends always end up here - whether it's 2018 or 2022. During our latest visit, we unfortunately had to wait ~30 min for a table for 6 on a Sat night. Other than that it's always been a reliable spot for dessert. I love my not-too-sweet, fruity, HK-style desserts, and love that they also offer a wide range of other sweets including more western ones. There's something for everyone!
google avatar

Shirley K.

Yelp
Came in on a late evening for dessert and unfortunately didn't get any mango desserts as there was a sign mention it has been hard and sour. I really appreciated them informing the customers that so they are prepared if they move forward with the mango desserts. There are 2 floors to this place and the seats are pretty spread apart. Service was very quick and the staff were friendly. Momo cha-cha 5/5 Tapioca dessert with taro reminded me of my childhood. Musang durian pancake 4/5 The skin is not my favorite part , but it holds the delicious durian and cream filling inside.

Yelp
SUCH A GREAT PLACE FOR DESSERT!!!! We got the Mango Bingsoo and it was enough to feed like 4-6 people, so sad we couldn't finish it all! It was topped with a vanilla scoop of ice cream along with chunks of mango and mochi pieces. Definitely recommend this for a group of people post dinner. I love the inside, they play such great pop and catchy music. The people who were there are super nice and friendly :)

Sarah L.

Yelp
My facorite thing about this place is watching them get in a shipment of mangos. So. Many. Mangos. Also so refreshing and tasty. The mango juice doesn't have a syrupy taste--it might genuinely just be mango juice? And the rice balls are the perfect texture
