A great new addition to the South Seattle food scene, especially if you love fried chicken and chicken rice dishes.
I ordered the cơm gà xối mỡ (Vietnamese fried chicken rice), which isn’t easy to find around here. It came with tangy, slightly sweet tomato rice and a fried chicken leg quarter. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying moist and juicy inside. It was served with nước chấm, a classic Vietnamese fish-sauce–based condiment made with fish sauce, sugar, chili, and aromatics. It’s sweet, umami, and spicy, and really elevates the entire dish.
We also tried the Hainanese chicken rice, and it was just as good. The rice was fragrant, the chicken was tender and well cooked, and it came with ginger scallion sauce, chili sauce, sweet-and-sour sauce, and soy sauce. All of the sauces were flavorful, but my favorites were the ginger scallion sauce and soy sauce.
Both chicken rice dishes came with a flavorful chicken broth on the side, which rounded out the meal nicely.
We also got the guava drinks, which were refreshing and tasty. They also offer chicken wings and fried whole chicken, which I’m interested in trying next time. There’s plenty of seating inside, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Overall, a solid spot worth checking out.
