BEST THAI food in san francisco. I was elated to have tasted and visited Mangrove Kitchen. Loved the food and their amazing ambience. We ordered chicken satay - which was very savoury and had a nice peanut flavored sauce, thai fried rice- was so good with a lot of chicken pieces, green and red curry- amazing, aloha fried rice- with the pineapple flavors mesmerizing your tongue. The star of the show was the tom yum soup- so tangy, so fresh, so yummy. 5 out of 5 stars.

Delicious find! Lovely space with nice booth and open table seating. Cool decor. Nam Tok Tofu salad and veggie crispy rolls were perfect apps for our table; salad sauce was crazy delicious. I devoured my spicy crispy pork belly. The pumpkin curry and pad Thai were also favorites at our table. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again, great energy, food, and service. My app and entre was $37 and totally worth it.

Good: - Super nice staff - The Aloha fried rice here was divine, it was amazing and super tasty - The ramen here was really tasty, I liked it with the tom yum soup a lot - The red curry with beef was also great, it had a nice sweet flavor and the rice it came with was good - The gao chicken rice was good, though a little bland, the sauce that came with it made it a lot better - Pretty and clean interior, good ambiance for catching up with friends Bad: - Prices are decently expensive and high - Portion sizes are pretty small Overall would come here again!

A must try! + Khao Mun Gai (2/5): Pretty disappointed by this one. The chicken thighs were SO DRY! Even with the sauce (which was great), the chicken was dry. Even the chicken rice was clumpy and not very flavorful either. + Aloha Fried Rice (5/5): No complaints here! A good balance between all the flavors. Pineapple wasn't too overpowering and the shrimp were huge! I liked the cashews and raisins surprisingly, and the presentation was very cute.

One of many casual-to-upscale Thai eateries in SF — with well-executed menu, cleverly designed interior, but relatively high prices. $18 for Pad See Eiw: tasty, but worth it only if you prefer not trekking to the Tenderloin or Richmond for a taste comparable.

Looked forward to trying out a new restaurant. Unfortunately it fell entirely flat. We ordered a chicken Pad Thai and a chicken Thai spicy fried noodle. The chicken pad Thai was fine, nothing special to return again for but not bad. The Thai spicy fried noodle was the most disappointing meal at a restaurant I’ve had in a long time. The dish was not spicy. The chicken was cooked to oblivion and the lack of any sauce made the dry unseasoned chicken barely edible. The ambience was nice and the waitstaff was pleasant, but the food was terrible and I will not return.

By far one of the best Thai restaurants, I have ever eaten at! The food was excellent and served promptly! The vegetarian crispy rolls were fantastic, as well as the Thai tea!! I will definitely be coming back!

We shared 3 dishes for under $30 ea. Including tax and tip. No drinks. Good options with varying levels of "heat". I get bad reflux and lean mild had no problem with any of the 3 we ordered marked with 1 pepper 🌶️ Pad Thai in coconut curry with chicken was my favorite. We also shared 1 with shrimp both were vegetarian with added protein options. We will probably visit again soon.

Vegan Review: So yummy! I got the pumpkin curry and the portion was huge! Definitely will be split between 2 meals. the pumpkin curry was so silky smooth and tasted so good. Would recommend. my date got the ramen yellow curry, he said it's his favorite. The restaurant itself is so cute and perfect for date night! The service was amazing! Our server was so sweet and attentive. I also love the vibe of it, it was a Monday night when we went so it was a bit on the emptier side meaning we had the whole restaurant to ourselves which was pretty cute. 10/10 recommend. Pretty great vegan options! Would come again

This place reminds me a lot of Sun and Moon in SOMA, but overall tasty food, minus one for prices. It's a bit odd how most of the prices are minus protein, and then adding protein is another $1-3 on top. I feel like for the portion sizes it was a bit overpriced. I liked the Tom Kha soup a lot! The pad thai was just okay, a bit too sweet for my liking.

One of my new favorites Thai Food spots! The inside was peaceful, clean, and had a relaxing/fun ambiance. Service was fast and friendly. I took the bus here for dinner with friends as parking can be tough on Divisadero and we all had a great experience! The restaurant quickly seated us immediately and filled up by 7ish. I ordered Pad See Ew with chicken (pictured) and it was HUGE, flavorful and delicious. Had to take majority of it home! They had fun modern music on and Muy Thai fights on the TV which my friends enjoyed watching.

My roommate and I picked up takeout today for dinner and were unfortunately disappointed. The cost was high (~$25 per entree after tip & tax) for a small portion that was not worth the price in taste or care. My spicy thai flat noodles were clumped all together and didn't even have the sauce distributed on all of them because of that. My roommate's porky belly entree was also very small for the price and lacked in overall rememberable taste. I won't be going back I think and would recommend you skip sadly.

Food here is a solid 4.5/5. I really liked the panang curry and how nutty of a flavor it had. It was creamy, strong, and balanced. As a table we also got some noodle dishes and the fried rice - hard to go wrong there but also executed well. Their drinks are so elaborate! They come in really funky cups or even a coconut so very vibey place. The mango sticky rice was interesting, not the best I've ever had but really good. Just a warning on group reservations - ours was messed up and we ended up waiting for 40 minutes when we called ahead to confirm. So on that end I would say a 3/5 but the food was honestly really good

We've come here a few times now and love it overall! The decor is so well thought out, and the space is very clean with lots of tables. We frequent their tom kha, panang curry, and Thai fried rice. The presentation is also very picture ready! Portions are great for sharing, or just having lunch for the next day, and the service is always so kind and very responsive.

I recently came here for dinner and had a great experience! The restaurant was pretty empty and quiet around 6pm on a weekday, but it gradually filled up by 7ish. I ordered a pad Thai with beef, and it was delicious. Portions are pretty generous too. I had just finished a workout class before coming here and was pretty hungry, but I still ended up with some leftover pad Thai to take home. I also tried the vegetarian crispy roll and some of the panang curry, both of which were flavorful as well. The inside was nicely decorated, clean, and had an elevated ambiance. Service was great too.

Came here for a quick lunch and was seated immediately, no wait. There were a couple tables filled, one server pretty much helping everyone as more people came. Food came out under 10 min. Large portions, great flavor on the curry and pad see ew! Great for large groups, plenty of space. Although there were a ton of flies swarming around the inside of the restaurant. Yuck!

This place was so good! The ambiance is between casual and dressy-- definitely more on the casual side. The food was very good, a bit pricey but nothing new for SF. Our table really enjoyed the tom kha and the coconut water, which is literally as fresh as it can get-- they straight up serve you a coconut. The service was normal, but we did notice they have a table that they never seat anyone at, which is odd because it's in a prime location and seems to have the nicest back drop, as well as fancy table settings. When we asked about the table, the staff didn't tell us anything so it's been left a mystery. We had a great time here overall!

I would give Mangrove Kitchen a solid 7/10 rating (3.5 stars if possible). We stumbled across this restaurant and decided to grab dinner here on a Saturday night. There was no wait and we were seated immediately, although it did slowly get packed as it neared 7PM. The interior is aesthetically decorated, with painted nature/animals along the wall, greenery/botanical decor near the entrace, and basket woven decorations hanging from the ceiling. There were only 2 waitresses so service was a little slow and we had to flag down someone each time we needed something. The menu had a variety of thai street appetizers, noodles, soups, and thai ramen. They also offer a free beverage if you check in through Yelp (Thai tea, Thai tea coffee, green tea, soft drink); this offer is limited one per table. I opted for the Thai tea which wasn't too sweet or syrupy. My boyfriend ordered the nuea ramen with red curry (medium spicy); it comes with 24 hour slow cooked beef, spinach, caramel egg, and shiitake mushroom. I ordered the moo ramen with yellow curry (mild spicy) which came with slow cooked braised sweet pork belly, caramel egg, spinach, green onion, and sweet corn. The ramens are quite heavy, probably due to the denseness of the coconut curry. It's a lot to eat in one sitting as I was getting kind of satiated off of the curry broth. The red curry tasted thinner and clear vs. the yellow curry was quite thick and creamy. The beef was tender and fell apart with each bite. The pork belly had some smokiness and sweetness to it. The caramel egg was a little salty with a runny yolk. It's definitely very filling for one person.

I honestly don't know why it took me so long to try this place and now I'm kicking myself for not coming sooner! The decor inside is festive, relaxing, from things hanging from the ceiling to paintings on the wall, it gives a nice relaxing place to eat dinner and doesn't feel cramped even with so many people inside. The presentation was lovely and everything we got tasted amazing. We started with the vegetarian crispy rolls - I could eat a whole plate of these myself - and we also shared the tofu salad. The chili lime dressing on the salad added such a bright acidic flavor that lightened up the fried tofu (it's spiced but not spicy IMO) and the cabbage was fresh and crispy. A great start to the meal! Soon after, our entrees came (I got pad Thai with pork and my friend got the spicy eggplant basil). The portion sizes are generous and again everything was spot on. At the end of our meal we were so full but everything was so tasty that for a second I considered dropping my fork on the floor just to stop myself from continuing to eat (I did not do that - don't do that, that's rude). We got to take some leftovers home too (which, if you ask me, is like another free meal)! Already looking forward to my next visit to try more things on the menu.

Came here to catch up with some friends after work. The waitress was super nice and attentive to our needs. They also had great music playing! Two of us got the pad see ew which was fantastic! They used regular broccoli which was a little softer than I would've liked and it was interesting how they used that instead of Chinese rabe as I've had in pad see ew in other places. My friend got the honey roasted duck and he really enjoyed it! This is a great place to catch up with friends over good food.

One of my go-to spots for Thai food in the Nopa area. It's a Thai-japanese fusion restaurant with classic Thai dishes and ramen. The broth is rich and the meat is very tender. My go to foods are the Neue ramen with yellow curry, pad Thai, and Mango sticky rice. The service is fast and the lighting and decor make for a great date spot or catchup with friends.

You know a Thai place is good when they serve no coconut base tom yum and coconut base tom kha. Everything we order was tasty and the dining environment is nice.

Came here on a weekend right when they opened for 2! No wait Moo ramen: 3/5 the soup base was a touch too sweet and not spicy enough. The ramen noodles were slightly overdone. The redeeming factor was the generous thick slices of pork that were braised to perfection Thai ice tea: 4/5 classic! Would come again for other options.

Because of the owner's super kind response below, we'll try again and then edit this review accordingly. ***** We've ordered from here before many times and, while the food is a bit over-priced, it's always been pretty good. And in a city with lots of options for good Thai food, you need to be at least pretty good. Mangrove was always pretty good. Until today. Today we ordered our usual "medium" level of spicy but instead we were greeted with such inexplicably spicy heat that we literally cannot eat the food as it is. The few bites I had were physically painful; I writhed and tears ran down my face. We're thinking about washing the tofu, eggplant, and noodles, which is a step of preparation that one does not anticipate doing for $18.00+ dishes. We're in the process of making another dinner as I write this review. Suffice to say, our patronage of Mangrove ends today.

Came to Mangrove to celebrate a friend's birthday, and we had a wonderful meal! I really loved the veggie green curry, and my friends ordered the moo-ramen and the spicy noodle dish also with veggies. Noodles were not spicy and very delicious!

TL:DR; The presentation of Mangrove's food is beautiful. Located in Lower Haight bordering Nopa it's in a pretty hot spot but not too busy that it was easy to find parking and also bus to! We came at 1pm on a Friday and it was actually pretty empty and at 2 we were the only ones there which was super nice compared to other super packed restaurants at this hour. Pad see ew- 10/10 very flavorful and great presentation! Got it with pork and it was really filling and tasty. Khao mun gai- 10/10 also very flavorful even without the sauce on the chicken!! Could see it being a little dry without the sauce but we tried it with and without and it was still good. Even for a basic "chicken and rice" plate, the presentation was beautiful. Will definitely be back to try more but for now impressed with the experience and deserves 5 stars all around!

Fantastic Thai food. Really great, fast and delicious. I miss the parklet. But the restaurant is huge with lots of seating including many large comfy booths. So there's no waiting. This place would be five stars but the food is a bit sweet for a couple of my friends. If you aren't a fan of that then this might not be your favorite. But that's the only reason this isn't five stars.

Finally I got a spot and I walked in at 2:45 pm There was a closed sign hanging on the door . There was a fir working inside , I said are you closed ? She said yes . I said oh but on line it says you are open until 4 pm . She said no . There is also sign on the door . I came out and looked at the sign , it says they close at 3 pm . I walked in again and said oh well , it is not even 3 pm . Talk to your manager . She said alright . No apologies no nothing . She said well we did it 2 months ago . I said but the sign on the door and the online notes says something else . She said ok I will tell them I walked out That's terrible. I don't know about their food but just for the inconvenience. I will never go back By the time I am posting my review here is not 3 pm yet

Absolutely love this place. Third time eating here and all three times have been delicious and great service. The ambiance is very chill, never feel rushed, and the service is great. The food is immaculate: Khao man guy Pad see ew Chicken wings String beans Crab fried rice There were 5 of us and every dish was loved and swallowed! Not one piece of rice, or noodle was left on a dish. Absolutely without a doubt, 5 !!! Choose this place over farmhouse. Better food, affordable, better service.

Overall, this is a good Thai restaurant. The interiors are very beautiful and gives off nature vibes. The service was really good too; I came here with a large party of people and they were able to set up the tables quickly. I ordered the Pad See Ew with beef. It tasted good, but I wish that the beef had more flavor in it. I also tried the mango sticky rice and it was so good, although it was a small dish in comparison to the price. The presentation of the dishes were so pretty and matched the ambiance of the restaurant well.

Yum! Came here on a whim because the udon place down the block had a long line and we were too hungry to wait. Although there was no line and one empty table, there was only one server so it took her about 20 minutes to clean the table for us. The wait was worth it though because the dish was incredibly flavorful and really hit the spot. I got the nuea ramen w/ red curry - the beef was so tender! Hoping to visit again soon!

Had the green curry with chicken. Would be nice if they specified what proteins they had and the corresponding charges (I didn't know chicken was +$1). The curry was not bad and had a lot of chicken, but wasn't spicy at all even though it was marked with 2 chilli signs. Maybe my spice tolerance is high but I would also have preferred it to be less milky! Other that that, excellent service. the restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. would be down to try the other dishes!

Great go-to for Ramen and Thai. We love it for date night - atmosphere is pretty good, feels a bit like a diner but has uniqueness from their region. Their prices are pretty good too. Worth a try!!

This place was AMAZING! I wish I lived in San Francisco just so I could go anytime I want. I'm normally not a big fan of ramen but I'm so glad I ventured out and got the soft shell crab ramen. If you can't decide what to get, GET THAT, GET THAT! Seriously, so good! My waiter recommended getting it with the tom yum broth and that man knew what he was talking about. I need scientists to get a teleportation device figured out already so I can enjoy it states away. I went on a Tuesday night and there were only a few other people there. It was nice to find a place that wasn't overcrowded. I will say though, it is dark, so bring your flashlights.

Yummy food for decent sf prices (still expensive but not as bad as most of the other dine-in locations on Divisidero). My favorite part is that they really make an effort to dress the plates well. Also the soup is amazing

Mangrove Kitchen is one of my friend's favorite, down the block, Thai restaurants. So we had to give it a try! It was a solid and quick Thai restaurant, a little more elevated than your traditional takeout. We came on Saturday night and were seated immediately outside because of a dog in our party. We ordered the: Tofu Fresh Spring Rolls - good, classic spring rolls but they were big! Crispy Crab Wontons - more cream cheese taste than crab, but still good Thai Spicy Pan Fried & Pumpkin Curry - good! I would try something else next time My star rating: 5 - must go!!! 4 - liked it, give it a try! 3 - it was alright 2 - I probably won't go back 1 - turnaround and run

A solid Thai spot on Divisadero! I've come here a few times for dinner and have enjoyed the curry dishes and soups. The Tom Kha soup was perfect for a chillier night, and the large size was a perfect portion for a meal. I've only come on weekday nights and was able to be seated immediately. The outdoor parklet seating is pretty cozy with string lights. The food came out quickly, and I've liked all the dishes I've tried. Will definitely revisit when I'm craving Thai!

This place is awesome the service was lovely and attentive. The FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE! I ordered the spring rolls, Tom kha soup and the pumpkin curry. Each dish was bursting with flavor and so delicious!! I found this place on a whim looking for vegan options and this place did not disappoint! My husband got the lobster ramen and he said it was the best ramen he has had. Thank you for such a wonderful and yummy experience! I cannot wait to come back! If you're vegan please give this place a try!

Short walk from my work so decided to try it out. Thai restaurant but they have ramen.... But with curry broth. I got the Moo-ramen and the yellow curry broth was too sweet so after a little while it was getting very unpleasant to eat and I couldn't finish the bowl. The toppings (especially pork belly and egg) and noodles were good though! Restaurant was completely empty pretty much the whole time we were there and we went around 1:00pm so interesting there is no lunch rush at all. Service was great. Attentive and kind. Maybe next time I'll try one of the more traditional Thai dishes but probably wouldn't come back for the ramen.

- neua ramen [ramen noodles with 24 hrs slow cooked beef, spinach, carmel egg, shiitake mushroom, and tom yum soup base] ($22) never have i ever been to a spot where the ramen's soup base was interchangeable with options like curry/tom yum. being someone who usually opts for tom yum as my soup base during hot pot had an automatic bias preference for tom yum here at mangrove kitchen! and wow they did not disappoint. the flavors of the soup and pairings with the ramen were fireeee - besides the fantastic food, the staff's service was also super incredible! the ambiance of mangrove kitchen is casually romantic and classy. it's the perfect spot for friends, family, and even dates! the only downside in my opinion (just like for many spots in SF) would be the limited amount of street parking in the area - but besides so this spot is a space id highly recommend for yall to check out if yall are in the area because even though i only tried one dish - their whole entire menu seemed so delicious!!

Friendly and attentive customer service. Restaurant is spacious and looks beautiful! Food was delicious... I got moo ramen with yellow curry. Pork belly was tender and amazing. Would definitely come back!

I came by Mangrove Kitchen with my friend on a Friday at 6pm for dinner, and we were the only table inside. By the time we left around 7, the restaurant was more than half full. We shared the Crispy Crab Wontons and I ordered the Moo Ramen with Tom Yum broth. The wontons were served with a delicious tangy sauce, and the wontons themselves were crispy and a perfect balance of salt/sweet. The ramen was served with egg noodles, but the star of the dish was definitely the broth. It was definitely more on the hot side than sweet, so I'd probably ask for more mild next time. Overall, a solid restaurant in Divis neighborhood. Don't forget to check-in to get a free soft drink!

I absolutely love this restaurant, and believe it is the best Thai food in the area! I came on Saturday for dinner and there was no wait to be seated luckily. The servers were very quick to bring water over and to address any questions we may have had. I had previously dined here before and ordered the Pad See Ew(with beef) which was amazing both visually and taste wise While they do not have a 1-5 scale for spiciness like most Thai restaurants, you can just ask them for chili powder or paste to adjust to your liking. While I have not tried the ramen component of the menu, I definitely will come back for those. In total it was a great experience and I want nothing but to try all of their dishes. This will continue to be my SF Thai restaurant!

They have flavorful vegan and vegetarian options here (the meat dishes as well, of course). Good for groups too!

During my SF trip, my friends and I stopped by Mangrove Kitchen for lunch. From what I've been told, it can be hard to get street parking, but we go lucky and parked a couple of blocks away. It was completely empty when we came, but our server was really nice. The interior was clean as well with lots of seating indoors. I wasn't as hungry so I only had the crispy crab wontons. These were delicious. Super crunchy and came with a type of sweet & sour sauce. There was a good amount of filling that was pretty creamy. If you're not into cream cheese filled items, I wouldn't recommend this for you. I loved it though and would definitely order this again. They're bite sized & would make really good appetizers to share if you're hungry. I believe it came with 7 pieces. Service: Was pretty good overall & the food came out quickly. I hope to try the Pad See Ew next time!

12/1/22 7:30 pm 5/5 decor & presentation: Sounds corny but what I enjoyed the most was the decor on the wall & that they serve drinks in ceramic mugs. 4/5 practicality: Open floor plan, enormous aisles for walking, which I didn't like because it made me feel the restaurant was emptier than it is, the door was closed, I wrapped myself in my soft shell jacket because of the windy draft resemblance of a canteen with poor insulation Good enough/ no complaints on service. 3/5: for my ramen. Okay, I had to be honest with myself and also say the apparent thought you may have "it's not a ramen specialty place." Well, I loved the curry soup by itself. But ramen noodles had the consistency of overcooked egg noodles (I'm familiar with that taste *ahem* my cooking sometimes) that clumped together. This caramelized egg looked the part but only tasted as it dipped in soy sauce. It's good that they paired with crispy noodles & raw onions that add texture, but my ramen was more causal comfort food than a standout. The chicken wings are flavorless and came cold... wonder if it was a kitchen error. Don't be harsh, alongside me, just take my review as my experience today. I'm not crazy about coming back but overall hasn't made any critical errors and a solid place to go to.

Great service! We practically enjoyed everything we ordered. The chicken satay were juicy and the peanut sauce was the star of the dish! ($13) Seafood tom yum soup was more on the mild side but still overall delicious. ($22) Penang curry w/ beef -- requested them to make it extra spicy and they executed it. It had a nice kick to it and the curry was insanely flavorful! ($17) Spicy basil w/ chicken ($17) Not a lot of selection for cocktails but the lychee mojito is a must try! ($12) I will be back to try their ramen next time.

Nice spot for Thai food, great ambiance, not too crowded and we were seated almost immediately on a Saturday night. We ordered the spring rolls which were solid, nothing mind blowing. We also ordered the red curry, which flavor wise was good, a bit on the sweet side. It was, however, really watery. The pad thai was good, great portions for sharing. I'd recommend if you're in the mood for some quick and easy thai food, with nice presentation :)

Both me and my date contracted salmonella from here. We were eating an early dinner around 5 so the restaurant was completely empty. There was no excuse for them to not prep our food properly. We should have been suspicious when the pad see ew came out cold. Worst of all this place is pricey for the portions they give you. Third world food quality, first world prices. This restaurant is a disgrace to the SF food scene.

Second time ordering to go, and we are again sorely disappointed as the Pad Thai was "dry" and flavorless, no pad Thai sauce among the noodles - to speak of and it had very little chicken in it. The tofu spring rolls were mediocre- even the peanut dipping sauce which was OK but it was a tiny amount - just barley 1/2 full ramekin that didn't make up for bland flavors of the roll. The Tom Kha Soup was the only item palatable that was worth it-will not be ordering again......so many other options available for same $$$

I can see Mangrove Kitchen being a good spot for group gatherings due to the slightly upscale interior and drinks, but the long wait and food made my experience so-so. I came here on a Saturday 7pm with two others. While there was an open table, it took a while for us to be seated. In general they seemed a bit understaffed as ordering, receiving our food, and getting the check all took quite a long time. I shared the spicy eggplant with brown rice and the spicy pan-fried noodles with a friend. It seems this place has a very broad definition of what is considered spicy, because the spicy eggplant was not spicy, whereas the spicy pan-fried noodles were giving the nuclear fire noodles (and my stomach lining) a run for their money. I actually really liked the flavour of the eggplant though, and I think I would've liked the pan-fried noodles had the spice been taken down several notches. In addition to the two dishes I also had a taste of my other friend's pad thai, which was incredibly sweet but didn't have much depth otherwise. Our total for the two dishes came out to $40 after tax and tip. Definitely on the expensive side but understandable considering the ambience. Out of the 3 dishes I tried, I would get the eggplant again, but if I ever came here again I would want to try their other offerings like the catfish and curries.

Variety of vegetarian options on the menu: 4/5 Went once and have been back almost 3 more times. Mangrove might be our new go to Thai spot! We also get the green and panang curries (both completely vegetarian, no fish smell, and flavors and spices are really well balanced). Their Pad Thai is well made hits the spot, and I would definitely encourage trying their Spicy Pan Fried Noodles. Also they usually have a check in promo for a free drink (applies to soft drinks, thai ice iced tea and cofee, and green teas). Hoping they'll make more of their noodle soups/curries vegetarian friendly as well!

Got the ramen with yellow curry and this was one of the better ramens I've ever had! I'd give this ramen 5/5. As a non pork eater it's so hard to find good ramen so this one was definitely up there for me. Broth was amazing spice level was amazing. Crab wontons: 3/5, too little crab for the amount of fried exterior but good taste Noodles: they were good but nothing crazy, 3.5/5
