I love this diner. Service great. The food was awesome. Their fries were really, really good. You don’t even need ketchup on them. If your going to Symphony Space for a show, it’s a great place for a bite before.

Absolutely disgusting food and reprehensible communication with the manager. I ordered an omelette and French toast for delivery today Sunday 4/7 and every single thing was dangerously undercooked. The French toast was so raw that it fell apart in my hands when I picked it up to look at it more closely. It looked like cold, curdled eggs. I’ve never seen French toast look like that. It was clearly put in the batter for way too long, and then cooked for way too short of a time. The eggs for the omelette were so undercooked that you could actually see the egg yolk in between the cold cheese and the outside of the omelette. The cheese was still in its uncooked square form, it was unbelievable to see. AND there were egg shells in the omelette that were visible! Even the hashbrowns were so undercooked that they were all completely white and translucent. There was no sign of them on a frying pan at all. I called to talk to the manager to see if they could replace it, and he did not apologize, he did not offer for it to be replaced, he offered no solution whatsoever. Insanely apathetic, cold human being. He said that it was probably cold, because Uber took too long, even though the issue was not at all that the food was cold, it was completely undercooked. In fact, the Uber delivery person arrived extremely quickly from the location, which is only eight blocks away from me. He said they have their own delivery people, but that they do not deliver that. All they had to do was have one of their delivery people ride eight blocks to remedy a disgusting order, and they completely refused. I would highly recommend not eating here, this place is deplorable.

I can't tell enough about this place!Went there by pure luck,and it was the best thing that happened to us!The place was cozy and clean!American style as we wanted!Food was large and the quality was truly amazing!!Prices are the lowest we found in NY.Stuff was super friendly...I only feel sad we didn't have the time to visit it again!But you should! *try pasta with meatballs and cheesecake with strawberry!

Everything about this place makes me happy! Good food, large portions, clean restaurant, and wonderful staff. A classic NYC diner!

They charge me $ 10 for a $3 sandwich an it was terrible the tomatoes was as thick as the bread ! The bread was hard and they put a glop of mayonnaise in the middle ! They put the hard parts of the lettuce, in the picture I already picked out all the white lettuce Literally the worst !

The California Burger Deluxe was well portioned and stuffed me. The location is close to public transportation.

My favourite place in the city when it comes to casually dining. The staff is extremely friendly, the menu has a great selection which I still haven’t fully explored even after a year of frequent visits. A have s number of absolute favourites though - Lumberjack for jetlag, pancakes with berries and chocolate chip for those lazy Sunday brunch and of course the Dallas BBQ Burger Deluxe if I am craving meat and a good burger.🍔 Price / Quality is the best in town, 10/10!

This is a better-than-your-average local diner. The food is good but the service, efficiency, and CLEANLINESS really make this place. It's one of those places where you know they take pride in their establishment.

The service from the waiter is horrible and I believe it's because of my race. I've seen him treat other races differently than how I was treated. I would greet him always with a sir and hello and thank you. His first response would always be "what you want". I've been coming here for over 15 years and he's a new waiter. He's a short Hispanic man with a resting Bitch face. I've even given him decent tips every time I came in with my family. The last and final time I came in to dine, I told him about himself and he apologized but, it's too late. The cashiers are always very nice and the managers as well but, that waiter has a huge problem with my kind and or me. Don't judge a book by its cover. If my family insist that we go back despite, I will ask to be served by someone other than him going forward.

Local UWS Diner where a lot of locals go to. This place is always packed every time I come but I appreciate that somehow there's always seating available. Remember to pay in the front before you leave. I ordered the Classic Denver Omelette and it was what you expect - egg, ham, bell peppers, and onions. I wish they had put a little more flavor in it, although tabasco does help, but it's essentially just all these raw ingredients in one. I do always appreciate the portion sizes as not only do you get the omelette but also you get this huge smashed/tater tot looking potato side as well as bread. However, I would appreciate if the quantities were a little less but they elevated the flavors. But then again, it's breakfast food so what can you expect. Overall, not a bad place for a diner if that's what you are craving. Not sure if this is where you will get all the flavors you ever wanted in the world, but what you read on the menu is what you get.

Been a while since I was here and pleased to say that it's still a solid diner choice on the UWS. Met a friend here to chat over coffee and some snacks. Bonus kudos for actually cooking my fries as crispy like I requested. Too many spots don't listen and still serve them undercooked which is nasty to me! Fries need to be prepared crispy!

Typical Diner and food. Usually busy, although this past Sunday not too bad around late breakfast time (10am-ish). We always get a table. My son asked to go specifically for the Lumber Jack breakfast combo: 2 eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage and a slice of ham. We had Lumberjacks all around - and for my order, they substituted the pancakes for a waffle even though the pancakes were fluffy and delicious, I had a bite.

3.5 stars. Both food and service were as expected! I actually wasn't expecting much. It was basic diner food, but I was pleasantly surprised because I did enjoy most of the food. I got the Grilled Chicken Omelette and tried some of their pancakes. The Grilled Chicken Omelette was good. The chicken chunks were seasoned just right, and the omelette wasn't too salty or bland. The hash browns though were very bland and pretty undercooked. Their pancakes were good -- they were fluffy and perfectly cooked. They had just the right amount of subtle sweetness and eggy taste. They weren't too dry. The jams and pancake syrup comes in its own individually-packaged containers, which I don't prefer because it's wasteful, but it's probably standard across diners. The Viand a couple of blocks away seems to make their own homemade jams and doesn't use individually-packaged syrup containers. We pay the check at the cashier, so checking out might take a while if there is a long line and might feel rushed. Overall, not bad. Would return if I wanted diner food again! Would probably still choose to go to the Viand over here, but this isn't a bad option!

Manhattan Diner service was 5 stars all day! The food was good but the home fries were more like fried mashed potatoes- regardless the entire meal we had both times was absolutely delicious and our waiter was kind and fast! So was the wait time for the food, it all came out so quick. The mimosas were huge, the Benedict's were large and in charge and over all this was a fantastic spot for food and was super close to our hotel. The decor in the diner was retro and bathrooms were clean. We loved it so much. Will absolutely return for breakfast or lunch on our next trip to Manhattan.

My favorite diner near my apartment. This is a rare find where they do everything from Omelettes, pasta, burgers, and everything else on the menu well. They take great care with packing their food to go so it's also a great option for takeout or delivery.

Stopped here for breakfast with my family. Nice quite dinner with fast kind customer service. Fairly priced and the food is good as well. Fast easy bite on the go especially if you are in a rush.

Let me cut to the chase: I believe I have had the finest tuna melt I have ever had. Served on the original version of an English muffin, the tuna salad itself was excellent, and the temperature of the tomato was absolutely perfect. The fries were sublime, and the coleslaw was exactly how it should've been, crisp without too much mayo or sauce. The iced coffee was strong and good, and they kept it coming at the table. I went there the next day for breakfast and was equally impressed with my omelette (the Athenian, for those of you who care about such things). The hot coffee was as good as the iced coffee and they kept my cup full (yes, I know, I said the same thing about the iced coffee, but in the morning this is especially important). Service is good, and the ambience stands on its own as a combination of traditional New York coffee shop/diner with a back room that reminded me of the Four Seasons (no, seriously, there's just something funky and modern about this area of the restaurant). This is my new favorite upper Westside dining locale (perhaps I don't have the most sophisticated palate). The only downside is, it's a bit pricey. Worth it? Yes. I'm going back again for breakfast tomorrow.

Hello. I had the opportunity to try Manhattan Diner this morning for breakfast. The restaurant was clean and comfortable with a casual ambiance. Our server was friendly and efficient. I shared the lumberjack breakfast with my mother and my sister had the French toast with bacon. The portions are large and shareable. The pancakes were fluffy. I would have enjoyed them more if they were not slightly burnt. The French toast was also slightly burnt. Seems the cook has the flat top too hot. Anyway.. the rest of the meal was good.

Quick seating for two on a Sunday morn...Eggs Benedict with delish homemade Hollandaise and home fries with a crispy crunch and the coffee was hot and strong like my men!

I've never had a bad meal here! Consistently good, whether it's breakfast/brunch or dinner. A classic. Long may this place reign!

Terrible I went to eat lunch and. my yelp where a coupon came up and they did not let me use it. George denied to even look at it and said they don't accept them. Horrible I would not return. This is your coupon remove it if you're not willing to accept them. They are better diners in this area which are less expensive and better food.

I ordered a side of french fries and got them to go. I thought it would take a lot longer than it did. There was a speedy pickup process which made me happy, and they weren't soggy or too crispy and there was a decent amount of them in the container. They were perfect and gave me so many ketchup packets. I was really happy with my order.

The food was decent and about what you would expect a diner. Ambiance is a classic diner vibe. Service was okay.

Use to come here with a friend all the time before she moved. A great diner with great staff good food and great atmosphere.

Delivery was quite fast. Open face turkey sandwich with mashed potato and carrots needed more gravy. Definitely need a lot of gravy to get through the layers. I will remember to always ask for additional gravy on the side otherwise good size portion with tender turkey.

For $26 omelet, you should get what you ordered....especially if they have a section for "Special Instructions" and then not pay attention to them. No sugar added to coffee (like they used to do) No milk added to coffee ( like the used to do) No butter on the bagel No extra butter added No toasting of the bagel ....then the loser that answered the phone blamed it on Grubhub for allowing special requests. They SHOULD Pick up a phone and call and tell the customer why THEY can't send what was ordered. They guy that answered the phone clearly does NOT own the place because he was rude and an @$$hole. If you're the owner.. the guy answered my call at 10:48AM

Food was mid, better tasting food at Starbucks. Service is good, if you like language barrier staff. Lighting is nice, spacious. Plate presentation is ok

This was probably the worst diner I've been to in the city so far. We ordered fries, baked macaroni and cheese, and the fried shrimp basket. All of it was so bland. Not even salt could save the mac and cheese and shrimp. I will say the shrimp were very big and juicy, and the fries were cooked well. With salt, the fries were actually good. We were also seated quickly and service was fine. The strawberry milkshake was also fresh.

I love bagels and lox and eat it whenever I can. Not here. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox. The bagel was gummy and not toasted. The cream cheese was little packets of Philadelphia and the lox was too thick, too salty, and old.

Good local diner :) would definitely visit again! The food was a great hit amongst our group.

Really nice diner. A little rough around the edges but I dig it. They have a bar so you can actually have a cocktail with your meal. And great meals they do serve. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Breakfast, lunch dinner all great.

We have been going for brunch every Sunday and we order from the diner often. So, you think the owner/ manager would be appreciative. When we we ordered tonight our food was 45min late. When I spoke to the manger he was rude and did nothing to help resolve the issue. I needed to contact seamless to get any help with my issue. I would recommend City Diner or Metro Diner on the UWS before ordering here.

Great location near 96th and Broadway, and great food, good price, nice people. Paula had eggs, I had waffle with fruit. We will come again.

This is the best diner...ever. They have the most delicious food, the best waitstaff (we particularly like Javier) and the interior is always spotless. My usual is chicken salad on a roll or BLT. Both are always plentifully filled and I usually end up taking half home. Service is fast and friendly. I only wish they were opened later, because the neighborhood needs a diner that stays open until, say 1AM.

Great food! I have been vegetarian for a while and i can say that this is the best veggie burger i have had. Great vibe is very calm and casual.

This was a small mediocre dinner for tourist. The menu was simple and didn't have anything that was especially appetizing. It is in a great location right off the one train on 96th St. Our hotel was right next-door so every morning we would wake up and go right down the street to have breakfast before starting our adventures. A few days we sat down and had bacon and eggs at home fries and other days we simply grabbed a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel on the go. So there are definitely options if you want to just grab a quick bite or sit down to have a meal.

food was decent for diner, but the worst service, which taints the whole experience. the tone the waiters uses is mean and they rush you.

Our favorite diner uptown. Staff is diligent & friendly, they have never gotten my order wrong and it's always absolutely delicious. Today I had the veggie burger without salsa and it was perfect. My boyfriend had the NY strip which he thought was delicious, especially the mushrooms on top. Fresh food, prepared well and affordable. Will keep coming back!! Oh, and their mozzarella sticks are always perfectly crisp.

Best Mazto Ball soup! No need to travel to Zabars This diner has all the deli delights, warm friendly staff that have worked there for decades. I love coming there for a nice comfort meal.

FLORIDA CHECKING IN. Now i at least gave this a one star because the food was okay. BUT for the customer service it's a 0. host is rude. MANAGER IS HELL. we paid more then 200 at this place and for him to give us attitude when we asked for silverware was absolutely horrendous. The food and coffee were great and this was close to our hotel. The service was excellent. I really liked the ambiance, it has a nice retro interior (Art Deco?). I would definitely come back if I stay in the same neighborhood in the future.

Manhattan Diner I first started eating at Manhattan Diner when I lived on the West Side in 2002. My daughter would come over from Upper East Side and spend the day. We would stop here for lunch. It's a great spot to eat and delicious food typical for a diner. Like every diner I've had some service that was not up to par. The place was always clean and the food good. Prices are typical for UWS. If you like a New York diner atmosphere you'll get it here. I never leave hungry. Enjoy when you can get indoor dining some day!

LOVE the Manhattan diner. Fantastic Greek omelet, yummy potatoes and the interior is really upscale. I ate indoors (so sad and deserted) and had plenty of distance. The pancakes are terrific. Really a first-rate diner.

I love this diner. The interior is nice and clean and modern. The menu is extensive; the prices are excellent! My "usual" is the chicken souvlaki platter. Besides the chicken it comes with a generous serving of fries and a nice Greek salad. Since we live on the East Side and it was cold yesterday we ordered in via Uber. I monitored the deliveryman....15 or so minutes. It wasn't as good as "eat-in". I'm not lowering my rating (after, it's not right out of the oven); it's worth it for me to make an in person visit.

From the outside this looks like a small little diner but when I walked in I was surprised with how big it was. There are plenty of tables here and I am sure they don't fill up. We sat at a comfortable booth in the middle area. The service here is your typical diner experience... quick and to the point. You better know what you want when they come by! I grew up in these places being from NJ so this was nothing new. I sometimes make my own order instead of ordering off the menu at diners. I made my own omelette since that usually is my meal of choice. Omelettes always have to be made fresh thats why! If there was a definition in the dictionary for a omelette this would be it. Typical diner omellete! Filling and delicious. I also tried the black bean soup which wasn't my favorite but I see why people order it. The experience was pretty straightforward. The thing that is tough with these diners in nyc are the prices. With some of these prices I could go to a nicer restaurant. No offense to the diners but they aren't the same quality as some of these other lunch spots. Come on lets be honest. Anyway, if you need a quick bite and are craving diner food come by.

So when i first got to new york i tried this diner. The service was beautifully excecuted for a late night place. The laste night manager was however a waste of space he watched as the server bussed tables, ran food and a multitude of jobs without so much as lifting a finger so kudos to that server for being so compelling i came back for breakfast. Upon my return i had javier as a server he was cordial ,attentive and friendly. He didnt discriminate and the day staff functioned like a well tuned 2001 camry in the modern day. Smoothe with a hint of "wheres francisco" lol. My wife had the french toast it was fully cooked but not burnt, moist, and delectable. I reccomend the double cheeseburger. HUGE and i mean huge portion sizes (dont bother asking for tempatures) But a well done burger doesnt gurantee that its dry. All in all it was a good expieriance. Come back for fast diner eats, and friendly service.

So it's been a while since I been back at the Manhattan Diner. Today there were more staff than patrons. We were seated by the kitchen, and area where plates and coffee were stacked. If they ever put you in this booth, move or you will hear everything. Plates being stacked, conversations going on, etc... Service was not as attentive. Had to ask for coffee refill, ask for box to doggy bag food. Staff too busy entertaining themselves. They will come ask what you want after giving you menu and bring your entrees. Provide water when you are seated. The rest is up to you. Another patron asked for the check and staff was laughing. Food is okay. Typical diner food. They are busy with delivery and guy announce delivery like dispatching this info. Food was ok.

I order take out from here quite often and its always a hit! Their salmon is my favorite. We plan to visit and dine in one day really soon.

This is my neighborhood diner, and I have loved it for many, many years. Excellent food, service, quality, and that old-fashioned sense of comfort when you go to the "local place." The "Mom's Meatloaf" entree is an especially great value -- one order is more than enough for two hungry people, and you'll still have leftovers to reheat the next day! And the matzoh ball soup is like a blissful return to childhood. Don't even get me started on the chicken salad platter! Delicious chicken salad, potato salad and coleslaw, with lots of fresh veggies and olives for garnish, and the portion is so generous, you can easily make three or four meals out of it. Love, love, love my local diner -- and you will, too!

If you're looking for great tasting basics in a traditional diner, this is the best place in the area. Fantastic service, perfect diner atmosphere and interior design, and a comprehensive menu that accommodates everyone in any party. Lower reviews are lacking context and seem to be putting Manhattan Diner against the many New York eateries that serve their obnoxious takes on avocado toast. /This/ is what a great, traditional diner should be!

I come here on occasion for some good breakfast diner food when I get sick of seating a bagel for breakfast. I usually get the Lumberjack which is pancakes with 2 eggs, bacon, ham and sausage. I usually substitute the pancakes with french toast which they don't mind me doing. The other item I'd get would be the Corned Beef Hash with Eggs. Can't go wrong with either of these two decisions. Service is pretty decent as well. Don't forget to check in if you're dining Monday - Thursday as you'll get 15% off on your bill!
