"Chef-owner Giuseppe Manco turns out critically lauded Roman-style pies at this East Village place which debuted at the beginning of 2018. He focuses on Rome’s teglia, a.k.a. pan pizza with an airy crust, made from dough that undergoes a lengthy fermentation period — go for the carbonara version. Pastas and pinsas, or thin flatbreads made from the same dough, are also on offer. The snug, simple space with painted brick walls and exposed bulbs houses a handful of tables; there’s also a Midtown East location with more bare-bones decor, better suited for a takeout slice or two." - Alexandra Ilyashov

"East Village’s five-month-old pizza restaurant Mani in Pasta from chef-owner Giuseppe Manco is apparently already a hit. Manco spent the first part of his career making Neapolitan-style pizzas in Italy and the U.S. before switching to Roman-style pizzas, which he’s now considered a specialist in. Critics at Grub Street note that his pan pizzas are 'terrific,' highlighting the margherita and carbonara versions in particular. The restaurant also serves up Roman pastas and pinsa, flatbreads made with the same dough as the pizzas but pressed thinner." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Great gnocchi, spaghetti and kale Caesar salad! Don’t forget to add a cheesecake or tiramisu to polish off the meal! Authentic flavors and stellar service! Cozy feel and very clean. Every time I come in here (about once a month) I’m greeted with a smile! You have to try this place, you’ll love it!

Thank goodness for Eater's recommendation of this Roman eatery, I would have completely overlooked this place, which delivers on all fronts. Staff are nice, friendly and attentive through and through. The pizzas are perfectly cooked with a perfect crackling crust and the toppings are perfectly included. Too bad the pizzas are served by the slice during the day; would have liked to try a couple of flavors during dinner service. I guess I'll just have to come back again...

A small 14th pasta place with brick walls and cramped tables. The place has excellent food and attentive staff. The breadsticks served were also delicious because they were pizza crusts with tomato sauce. Definitely would recommend eating here if it isn’t crowded. Hope this helps!

My friend and I came here during a time when the place wasn't too busy. They were only serving one other table besides ours, when we started ordering. That being said, service was still very slow. It seems as if they're short on staff. There was only one waiter and he was the only one working even when it started getting busier. He seemed like a nice person, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying his best. Still, it took a while before he came back to take our order and that was only because my friend went to the counter got his attention. The food itself didn't take too long to arrive so at least there's that, but when the waiter gave us our food, he asked if we wanted parmesan and we said yes, but he never came back with it, so we decided to start eating without it and didn't ask again. Now for the food: we ordered the Paccheri alla Norma. Honestly, the sauce and everything had great flavor, but the pasta was too firm for my liking.

The pizza is how you want pizza to be. The dough is soft with crunchy crust. The pizza is loaded with toppings. Yet, nothing soggy. Strong flavors. The octopus is very well done and the EVOO is super tasty.

Super nice cozy atmosphere. Was in the area and outside it was freezing. It was kinda late and I was feeling too lazy to go home and cook dinner, so we stopped here and had some italian food. Everything was great. We started with a Regina Pizza to start, and it was 😍😍. The perfect crust, the richness of seasoning and condiments made us joining every bite of it. Then we had Spaghetti with Pesto, perfectly al dente, a strong and sweet basil flavor perfectly balanced with pine nuts and Parmigiano, and extra shaved Parmigiano on top. We shared some Spaghetti al pomodoro. Al dente cooked, this rich deep intense red tomato sauce was absolutely amazing. Well cooked, a thick sauce that was embracing the Spaghetti. Lots of basil leaves on top ( I love basil) grated and shaved Parmigiano. We left the place extremely happy, satisfied and looking forward to coming back here. Oh I forgot to mention: for whoever is into furniture and decor, they have amazing metal pictures on the walls from a well known Italian photographer, and the floor they opted for is one of a kind. This typical Roman square shape bricks, were used back in the days in most of the roman houses. Hard to find and extremely heavy and durable, give the place that extra welcoming feeling.

Went there with nothing on my mind other than enjoying the highly recommended blackTruffle topped Square Pizza featured on the news and listed on the menu. Instead I was served a Square with drippings of what the guy in charge described as a black truffles sauce. After being rung up and waiting 20 min for my boxed and bagged order he mentioned that he would put the actual truffles on it for an additional $5. I was puzzled. That was exactly what I originally ordered. Visually unappealing and quite frankly after a couple of bites and the onset of nausea I needed to discard the $9 deco slice and feeling absolutely bamboozled! Scammed. Terrible!
