The food and the service were amazing. the decor was not spectacular, but the food made up for it. I would also recommend the shrimp and lamb chop not pictured. A little pricey and parking is HORRIBLE, so add $35 to your bill!

Blast from the past Spanish style restaurant with stone and tiles and wrought iron trim that evokes old Madrid. Tapas are serious eating here, as the crowd of locals will testify. Found this place on a whim while waiting for Movies with Lin Manuel Miranda at United Palace. Pleasantly surprised by the delicious tapas- garlic shrimp, goat stuffed peppers, sangria and little seafood burrito- and service. Will be back for more!

We had their signature paella and it was perfect! The best part though was the service - our waiter and their helpers were very attentive and the person serving us suggested great wine to pair with our food, thank you! The CASH ONLY option is a bit weird for this kind of upscale establishment, but if you come prepared, no problem. ATMs are close by as well. I will definitely bring my out-of-town guests to this restaurant as it is really close to my place and we had such a great experience there.

Came here for a dinner with co workers & had our dinner in a private space down stairs. The ambience is really very spanish, decors & interior which is very nice. Our waiter was very attentive and efficient, Food is really good & delicious. All came fresh & hot. Tapas tastes very authentic. Like you are in Spain. Entrees are large. Seafoos Paella came with large pieces of seafood including lobster. Highly recommend this spot!

I came here before a theater show. I will say that the service and food turnaround is really quick, without making you feel like they want you out of the restaurant as soon as possible. The wait staff was helpful in making recommendations and offering advice on food choices. This place is CASH ONLY. they have an ATM for you to use. It's pretty spacious and has seating for larger groups, they also are portioned to let themselves out for private events if you choose. I do like the decor, lots of wood and they have some spanish themed pieces on the wall, looks like a little restaurant in spain as you travel the roads between cities. While they have larger plates, we chose the hot tapas- we had the dates, the chorizo in wine sauce, the shrimp and the steak on bread slices. I highly recommend the dates and the shrimp, the sauce for the latter was fantastic. The other dishes were great as well, they rounded out the meal, I would say everything was really flavorful and uniquely prepared. I also got the honey ice cream crepes for dessert which were delish and they come with preserves. total bill was $50

Badddddd service and their paella is terrible. I would never come here I spent almost $400 here for a bad food. Ughhh

Fantastic tapas in the heart of Washington Heights. Dimly lit, quiet, unassuming, and CASH ONLY! There is an ATM downstairs! We had their setas al ajillos, or sautéed mushrooms. They were tender and salty (in a good way). We also had Pan Catalan con Jamon Serrano, which consists of bread, tomato pate, and cured Serrano ham. We also shared a huge salad, the ensalada castellana, made with tons of textures and flavors, like manchego cheese, artichoke hearts, roasted tomatoes, and spinach, all tossed with a delicious vinaigrette. We also had the tasty hot, crispy, saucy patatas bravas. I had one of their cocktail specials, which was fruity and light. We also had an elegant tart for desert, though I had my eye on the molten cocoa cake. They have multiple types of tapas with hams, chorizo, anchovies, octopus, bread, veggies, and more. They also have entrees, steaks, and paellas. Service was attentive and everyone was very nice and accommodating. The server gave us great recommendations and answered all our questions, and was extremely tolerant of our poor pronunciation of menu items. Our entire huge meal was 80 dollars before tip, which I think is a great price. You could come back again and again and experience so many combinations of flavors.

Great ambiance and nice interior decor! A Spanish feel when you go into the restaurant. They have many tapas and paellas to choose from. I came get with a huge group and they got to seat us in a private room so we don't need to be anywhere near other people. We had a great time and the waiters were fast at helping and serving us. I recommend this place to anyone who want to try paellas in Washington heights.

While in New York, my husband and I decided to look for a Spanish restaurant that would have original paella, and we were not disappointed with the Paella Marinara from Manolo's Tapas in Washington Heights, very fresh seafood, delicious flavor and amazing service. We also had the Torta de Cangrejo "crab cakes " and it was very sutil and tasty. Both dishes were not salty at all and we appreciated it that. Only thing i will say that it was a bit uncomfortable was the situation at the end when we asked for the bill and found out that it was cash only. We called to make a reservation earlier,and were not told that or when we arrived no signs at the door, my husband had to leave me at the restaurant while he went to get cash. As tourist that was uncomfortable, however we understand this is a local place and everyone knows the rule. This place should be in magazines, it's truly a hidden jewel. We will go back, and next time we will bring enough cash.

I guess for a Spanish restaurant in Washington Heights. The quality of the food is good. The shrimp were flavorful and tasty . I wanted to enjoy this paella so much but all of the seafood was bland and over cooked . Save your money do not order paella . The decor in the place does transport you to an old school Catalonian restaurant . This place is cash only and does have an ATM in house . For a quick after work meal I will say it hit the spot . But I wouldn't plan to come here for a date or special event .

I've been here a couple times in large parties, but this time for a special occasion for two. I called ahead of time to make a reservation but was reassured that there is plenty of seating and only up to 10 minute wait. SEATING: Upon arriving, all of the indoor seating was full so we were told it would be a 25 min wait, or we can opt for the outdoor dining area with no wait. I was hungry af, and the outdoor seating looked really polished (it has "walls", a sliding door, and even wood flooring) so we wound up going there. It was 20 degrees that day, but I've been to outdoor seating where it isn't encased and was never cold with heaters blasting; I found myself a little cold throughout the night and noticed 3 parties also felt that way and were moved inside when space became available. Only when we were leaving, I moved under the duct where most of the warmth was located so PSA don't sit next to the window or beside the duct -- sit underneath it. Our waiter was really attentive and constantly braved the cold weather to keep crossing to the outdoor area. APPETIZERS: We started the night off with the Gambas Al Ajillo, which was served with sliced fresh, warm baguette. This was DELICIOUS. We couldn't get enough and ordered another plate AND 2x more bread LOL. We also got croqueta which was also good but not as addicting. Outdoor seating did make the food cold faster, as one may expect. MAINS: I knew that I wanted to get my favorite dish from Manolo: ribeye steak served with fries and mushrooms. This shit is amazing. Steak was cooked medium, with a good balance of fat and muscle. Wish they could add more mushrooms, they're really tasty and I don't love mushrooms. The fries are so well done, crispy and soft on the inside. My friend got the paella with squid ink, and gave me a small portion. As someone who doesn't usually reach for seafood, this was pretty good and the rice was tasty. Also, the portion sizes were so generous. I took about 1/3 of the steak and my friend took 1/2 of the paella home for round 2!

The apps of cheese mantego with ham & bread were ok but the rib eye were too salty. I should have specified less salt/seasoning. Usually, where i go to order the steaks, they were not salty @ all. I usually come here once in a while, & the previous experience were ok. Today, it seems way off. Even the espresso martini tasted way off. Not coming back.

there are not many great choices in this neighborhood- Manolo delivers consistently. Recently returned again and was not disappointed. Attentive and polite service as well.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Manolo. It was a wonderful night with great service, fantastic atmosphere and wonderful tapas and paella. We tried the marinera paella and it was savory, the rice cooked to perfection. All tapas were freshly made. Nice sangria! The churrasco well seasoned and tender. Oliver is the best waiter we've had. His service was outstanding! A+

I've been here twice now, and I'm such a fan of this place. The decor is on point, and service is incredibly attentive without being overbearing, and and food is immaculate. NOTHING more that you can ask for in a restaurant! I've gotten paella each time, and I honestly think they both taste pretty similar! Everything else on this menu is great, too--I can't imagine anything their kitchen prepares is less that delicious! Also, I loved the bacon wrapped dates, and I would come back just for those! The octopus was also very tender, and super light to hell even out the heaviness of the rest of our dishes. Every time that I've come here, it's only been positive and filling! I'm excited to have such a reliable and tasty restaurant in WaHi, and I'll definitely be back again soon.

I came to this place on a fast family dinner so I wasn't dress for the set. This place has an amazing interior, really gives you classic Spanish vibes. I had for dinner a chicken breast with steamed vegetables cooked to your choice and ouuuuuuuuu child let me tell you DELICIOUS!! I also tasted their shrimps and they were on point as well. Definitely would come back and this time i would dress up for it. Only thing is the space is a little tight so you can hear eachothers conversation but thats when i gotta say mind your business and enjoy your food and company and you shall forget they even there. I do recommend this place though and they do also include outside seating, which in our case we sat inside. I hope you guys go and enjoy.

I wanted my first indoor dining experience in months to be a special one. It had been years since I've had Paella and didn't feel like traveling too far to have some. This is where Manolo Tapas came in. While scoping out the place beforehand, I noticed that they have used the same menu for years, which is usually a sign that their dishes are too good to cycle through. I also noticed that they were a cash only establishment, which made me already exhausted knowing that I would have to make a separate trip to an ATM as part of this dining experience. But to my delight, they have an ATM downstairs on the premises, and it only costs 99 cents for this convenience. When we arrived, the host took our temperatures and had us fill out a contact tracing form. He informed us that there is a 90 minute limit per table, but you are welcome to stay later if no one else is waiting. Thankfully, no one else was waiting and we got to hang out a bit longer. To drink, we went with their special cucumber cocktail (the name escapes me) which was sweet and sour, just as the waiter described. It was refreshing, and kept us entertained during the 35 minute wait for our paella marinera. We also ordered the Meijllones a las Rias Baixas as an appetizer so we wouldn't turn into hungry monsters while the main course was prepped. Everything was savory and satisfying. I do wish they provided more bread with the mussels though. The service was super friendly and attentive. The staff made us feel very welcome and special. I would gladly return in the future.

This was a place that I stopped at before going to the cloisters on one of my NYC adventures. I'll essentially eat anything so I was glad that we were able to try something authentic. Manolo seems like it's plucked right out of Spain and set down in NYC. The service was great! Prompt and not overbearing, which is what I love. True to tapas form we decided to order drinks which were tasty gin and tonics and then we ordered several small plates to share. Fresh muscles in a light white wine sauce, which were delicious and came out of the shell easily with a fork, it also came with a good crusty bread that you could soak up the sauce with. We also had Piquillo Relleno de Cordero Asado which was delicious and savory, the patatas bravas also delicious. For desert we had Un Canto a Kiara chocolate truffle with raspberry sorbet in a vanilla as raspberry sauce. All around an awesome experience and I would go again.

The Carpaccio is my favorite tapa on the menu but in reality all the tapas are delicious and the paellas are worth sharing. Great lunch deals during the weekdays. Saturday nights they have live music. Do ask for a drink from the bar, the bartender can create a killer cocktail with your favorite spirit.

Walking by on Broadway while in Manhattan looking for a decent place to sit and have lunch. Nice ambiance. Mostly exposed red brick. Calm, but there is an energy. Music was a bit loud. Men's room was clean. Bar area larger than most with nice seating and chairs with a back. Friendly waiter seated me at bar at request and made a great wine recommendation. Warm, fresh bread and butter. NICE. Impressive menu with both meats and fish and shellfish. Pricing seemed reasonable. Langostinos are not something you find everyday, especially on a tapas menu. Simple, with sherry vinegar and sea salt. Large. Perfectly cooked. Lemon wedge to brighten it against the olive oil. Excellent. Roasted pork. Rolled around vegetables. Also excellent. Service was efficient. Clean, fast, friendly, reasonable prices, excellent food, broad menu. Outstanding for lunch. God smiled on me to let me find it. Hope you enjoy your meal as much as I did.

This quaint place in Washington Heights is perfect if you want good spanish food.. We ordered the paela, Ribeye, and a few other tapas. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice. Definitely takes me back to medieval Spain. It's more bigger in the inside than it seems. We visited this place around 5 PM on a Saturday and there were quite a few people inside but the service was really good. The ribeye was cooked perfect and the paela was one of the best I ever had. Please visit this place if you get a chance.

This is the spot in Washington Heights! Always seems to be busy so that is a good thing. It seems pretty authentic too which is always encouraging. The churrasco is pretty solid and was tender compared to others I have had. The calamari was standard and just like you would get anywhere. They also had these little sausage in red sauce that were pretty good. The sauce was smoky but not spicy. We sat downstairs and I liked the vibe there. It did smell a little funny downstairs but the privacy was nice. Overall, it was a good experience and I would put it at 3.5 stars.

The food in this place is amazing and filling. I have been going here for years and it gets better every day. We always get the octopus which is the best thing in the menu. We also tried the paella, which was one of the best paellas I have had in my life. The service is amazing and they are very accommodating even with my 8 month old baby. Rafael is amazing, very friendly, and will explain anything you need to know. This is the best spaniard place I have visited in NYC. Loveeee this place.

Overrated, expensive, and disappointing. We had high expectations given all of the glowing Yelp reviews. We were disappointed. The food looks like great tapas, but was mostly weak on taste and flavor. The prices were sort of high, which is unusual for a restaurant in the Washington Heights neighborhood. 4 of us had lunch, which cost $220 cash FOR LUNCH, and we only shared one carafe of sangria. It was OK, nothing wrong or bad, but NOT A SINGLE DISH I'M GOING TO CRAVE OR GO BACK FOR. There are so many better tapas places. Quite disappointing...

The food was amazing and the desserts were great too. We were served by Junior, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was right for us. Can't wait to go back

Get at least two of these. 4. If you sit by the bar you can watch the games as they have TVs there. 5. The atmosphere is nicely lit, dim but not too dim. One of the better atmosphere spots in the neighborhood. This and Saggio.

I have been to many restaurants here in the US and abroad, such as in South America, Europe, Caribbean Islands and Canada and so far I have never experienced such a horrible service and food. Upon arriving to the restaurant to meet with some colleagues/friends for a Farewell, we were welcomed by the hostess, and so far so good. We were placed in a table and provided with menus. The waiters started coming every 2 minutes to ask for the orders and throughout the whole dining experience they would be keep coming, interrupting our conversation, reaching over our food to collect plates, and ask if we want any more drinks. It was irritating! I ordered a grilled chicken with mixed vegetables, the chicken was dry and hard like a shoe sole. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and came back stating that I could order something else, but "we appreciate if next time you don't order this dish because this is how the chicken is cooked and I tried it myself and it isn't hard, it may be hard for you". I was shocked with his excuse for a terrible service and food. I was so disgusted with his attitude that I decided not to order anything. I couldn't wait to get out of such as hostile environment. I gave 1 star because I could not give zero and the hostess was nice! I wondered why the restaurant was almost empty in a Friday evening, but at the end of my dining experience I had the answer why. Staff needs training in Hospitality and customer service! FNP

I love this place the paella is So good. All the tapas we tried were also good gambas , batatas bravas, chorizo with yummy hot bread. The red sangria was also good we also tried the cocktails of the day.

Price to value very, very good. Stopped in for a quick tapas but ended up staying for more. Galician influenced , the shrimp were delicious and the Callo de Madrileno as well. Very warm and comfortable service. You can chill at the bar (which has high tables for two as well), or get a table. cozy revealed brick interior . I think this place has really good tapas and a solid feel. Def returning. Really good find, I just really liked this place and think it's definitely worth a visit .

After a second visit here I decided to update my review and add one star since the quality of the food was significantly better. On my last visit I ordered the grilled octopus with salad and sliced potatoes. The octopus was delicious, cooked perfectly and paired really well with the light salad and potatoes. We also had the chocolate cake for dessert which was also good. Definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Manolo Tapas is a nice place in Washington Heights. The dinning area is a bit small but accommodating. The wait staff is knowledgable but a little unorganized. The regular lime flavor frozen margarita is horrible not really frozen. The Filet mignon carpaccio and chorizo are delicious. It's a bit pricey and there should be some air-conditioning. CASH ONLY NOT GOOD

Was here about a month ago to celebrate my aunt and uncle's birthday. My cousin arranged everything and it was super awesome. Had a variety of tapas, paella, and had my first Spanish caña (beer)! Very cozy place great for a date night. We were a group of about 10, which was not bad and I would not recommend having a group bigger than that here although they apparently do rent a room downstairs for larger groups.

Fave spot for paella and sangria! Been a loyal patron to this place for years. Although it's quite a hike to get here from where I'm from, I truly believe this place makes the best paella valenciana and sangria. Had the chance to visit this place again a week ago with my bff from ca. She was the one who introduced me to this place and of course, we ordered the jamon iberrico and manchego, paella valenciana, and a pitcher of sangria. The dimly lit space and bricked walls gives off the perfect ambiance to enjoy your meal along with the best music on heavy rotation. The servers are always friendly, nice, and attentive. They always fill your cup, not knowing how drunk you are already hahaha. This place only accepts cash but they do have an atm machine downstairs. Highly recommend the paella valenciana. I hope one day they bring back the salmon croquettes back on their menu

I am a little shocked by the caliber of the reviews I've read. I was sure that we would enjoy ourselves here for dinner but alas, with the exception of the decor and service, we did not enjoy our meal. The food just was not up to par. Hubbs and I were actually heading to a different restaurant but decided on Manolo when we checked Yelp. I love tapas so I was psyched to come here and based on all the positive "reviews" I was happy to try. Upon entering we kind of lingered at the host's podium while an employee chatted with what looked like a delivery guy. After a moment of us waiting without acknowledgement, he finally took the time to say something to us along the lines of a greeting and sat us at a table. I love the decor. The exposed brick and archway into the main dining room are nice touches. Aside from that and maybe their wine, I was not impressed. I had two glasses of their highest-priced Tempranillo which was good. Hubby asked for Belvedere and Seltzer but was given two very small $10 glasses of Ketel One instead. We ordered two small plates and two entrées. Hubbs went with the Churrasco a la Parilla and I had the Paella Marinera. Since my paella would take 30 minutes, I wanted something to snack on while we waited. We had some olives and one of their tapas specials, the Lamb Chops w/Mashed Potato. The olives were regular mixed olives and were OK. The lamb chops, however, were not that great. They were over and the mash was dry AF. There was some parsely oil and balsamic garnishes that I used as a sauce to aid in the flavour and dryness of the meat and taters. They definitely missed the mark with that one. When our mains arrived, I was amazed at the portion size of my paella. It's huge and two or more people could probably benefit from the dish; that is, if it tasted good. The seafood did not at all taste fresh and most everything was overcooked. The half lobster, surprisingly, was OK but I was turned off by the mushy rice/burnt rice combo so, I just couldn't get into the meal. I ate for the sake of eating because I went for a run earlier and was already depleted so, I desperately needed the macros. I got a doggie bag and gave the dish to my mother in law. There was a ton of it left and I knew I wouldn't eat it. Hubby's skirt steak left much to be desired as well. The size of the steak looked as though they made two portions out of one steak and hubby only got one. They must have sliced it down the middle in order to serve thinner portions, yet charge a whopping $30 for skinny steak and fried potatoe slices. For the price, the size of that meat was just not worth it. I could've made something that tasted better and would be much larger than what he was served, for a lot cheaper. The mustard sauce was reminiscent of French cuisine which was a little out of place but he ate it all since he was just as starved as I. The best thing on his plate were the fried potato slices. Those were awesome! That's it. $160 later, for a sub-par dinner for two and we left, loving only the potato slices side and two glasses of red vino. It's just not worth it for the lack of quality.

Definitely worth a visit (even for those of you lazy ones living below 70th st :)). It's genuinely good food and service. A little visit to Spain where I lived for a few moths. Worth to try tapas: octopus, garlic shrimp, seared calamari. Their "house brand" wine is very good. Steak was ok. But this is not their specialty.

My family has been coming here since it opened. There's something special about this place. The quality of the dishes has stood the test of time and the service has always been outstanding.

Ate here with a friend. I went mid week early evening and was seated immediately. The restaurant is a good size! I have a pet peeve about feeling like a sardine with tables only a few inches away from each other. The services was pleasant but not intrusive. We ordered several tapas but my favorite was the chorizos and poatoes dishes. OMG! So, delicious. I didn't have their sangria but my friend did and she really enjoyed it. I took off two stars because while the food was delicious some of the dishes were just too salty for my taste. But again, this comes done to individual preference. My friend found all the dishes wonderful. Pros: A variety of tapas and entrees Drinks are strong but not overpowering Service is attentive Cons: Street parking is hard to get Can be loud so hard to carry a conversation Some dishes are too salty I would probably not go back anytime soon just because there are so many other restaurants in the area. Ufff what can I say but that I had one of the best rib eye steak ever. The only thing I didn't like much were the fries it come with. My husband had the grilled chicken breast with garlic sauce and it was delicious as well and I loved his vegetables sides were delicious.

I don't have any pics of the food sorry I was too hungry, I think this is the 3rd restaurant I had visit after the quarantine and I have to said Goddddd the food is sooooo goodddd I'm so glad I came to this place the server was amazing I had 2 glasses of Albariño with my diner the steak is so soft that you feel it melts in your mouth, I forgot my server name he was so great and attentive they all were, every ( mins someone will come to the table to ask how we were doing, I really enjoyed the place and will definitely be back... I'm giving 5 start cause all the great servers (males) you have there. Cons: in the bad side which I hate to do cause I know how the business is right now because of the virus, a woman came at the end of our dinner we were waiting for our change and she said quote "I'm gonna have to ask you guys to leave" don't take me wrong I'm a restaurant manager myself and I know this are hard times for everyone, however there's ways to talk to people costumers and ask them to leave, she make me feel like I did something wrong and I was getting kicked out of the place because of it. Just until we told her we were just waiting for change she said is because they could get fined if we were there after 11, anyways I'm the type you could send me to hell but if you do it with a smile I will ask you for directions. 4.5 star restaurant and probably one of the best (if not the best) in Washington Heights. This restaurant serves traditional Spanish and unique tapas. I went with a party of three and we split six tapas among us. This was just the right amount, so I would recommend getting two dishes per person. Their drinks are also spectacular. I had a Guinness draft (made to perfection) and a sour cocktail (I forget the name). The atmosphere here is most definitely five stars. The tables are fine wood and the walls or dark brown brick/stone. They have huge murals of Spanish vineyards and other iconic scenes throughout the restaurant. The service here was also really good. All of the waiters recommendations were spot on. He was a bit pushy when encouraging us to order more, but we ended up having no regrets. We ended our meal with dessert- chocolate and raspberry truffle. Highly recommended. The prices are a little high and they only take cash. But overall, the experience was worth it. Great restaurant.

Awesome service, great service, very tasty food. The waiters are very helpful and professional! The place is not touristic, but worth coming here.

Mmmmm Manolo. The way to go here is to order a lot of tapas for the table and share, because there are a lot of flavors worth trying. My favorite was easily the Atún sobre Pisto Manchego. Manchego here is not cheese, but vegetables (eggplant tomato, onion, a few others?) with seared tuna on top. This was so flavorful and well-cooked. For sure try the Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp in a garlic sauce). I'd buy that sauce in a jar if they sold it. It had such a depth of flavor past the garlic--hard to do because garlic can be overpowering. Calamares a la Plancha were another winner: it was a good sized squid head (three of them), cooked well, marinated perfectly. The Pulpo a Feira was also yummy (a little pricey though). We ordered other dishes, but these are the ones I'd order again. For dessert, the Canto a Kiara was so rich n' chocolatey. Melts in your mouth. The Torrijas de Almendra was also a crowd favorite, I'm just more of a chocolate person.
