Best Chinese restaurant in town. If I have more money I will come back again and again and again. The menu is diverse, decoration is good and has Chinese vibe. Dishes are super delicious, especially the Mao pork (can't recall the name in the menu).

My father is a excellent chef from Hong Kong and worked in Milan in a expensive restaurant. I always eat the best chinese food since when i was a kid and let me tell you. This one is absolutely great. The taste, the flavour are really perfect and for such a cheap cost you can't find anything better. I already tried other chinese restaurant, bigger, more fashion like high class restaurant, where the price is really expensive but the food is meh. Here the price is incredible low and the food are too good to be real. Also i love spicy food. I thought that my spicy level was already great but in this restaurant i learnt that im still a beginner. I will come again and try other dishes!

Most authentic Hunan restaurant i have ever come across in Europe. Wish we have a bigger stomach to sample more dish. We are lucky that we manage to get sit without reservation, as we come in early. The lines of queue build up very quickly after we are sited. Food is great and value for money. Service is good for a small busy restaurant. Will definitely come by when ever i am in Milan. Highly recommended.

I had a lunch here, my companion and I both came across stomachache symptoms after the meal. All I puked all the stuff after an urgent care the same day. So I’ll say the taste is good, but their ingredients are definitely not fresh.

Absolutely love this place so much!!! The food is so authentic, tasty, and the service was really nice. The eggplant chilli was like nothing I’ve tried before. Also ordered the smoked beef noodle and wonton soup which were great. Prices are so reasonable too! Loved the smoked beef, and beef chilli. Highly reccomend the minced pork + long beans too! Wonton soup takes the spice off other dishes so it’s a nice opposing dish. Coming from a background of spicy cuisines, every time I want some extra flavor in palette, I’m here! Tofu minced pork and lotus is average.

My second time in the mao Hunan restaurant which is much better than the delivery take away food. The place is popular for chinese and local people, which is very famous I know from delivery app. It is good for people who love spicy hot food. Good presented and always busy inside.

Yelp
Mao Hunan 很好吃! This restaurant is legit good and it shocked us how good they are for a Chinese restaurant in Milan. Mink was craving Asian food again (after 2 meals in Italy) and so we looked at different options online. Based on photos of the food, we decided to give Mao Hunan a try. I made the commute myself and got us takeout. When I got there, only 4 tables were occupied but shortly after I ordered my takeout, the entire restaurant was full and there were people waiting outside! I seriously was getting excited to try the food after seeing this. While waiting, I noticed their modern and clean decor so I wasn't worried about the cleanliness of the restaurant. It only took around 15 minutes or so to get my order. We got a fried rice (Riso saltato di Changsa con salsa soia uovo e verdurefried rice with egg vegetables and soy sauce I think) and beef dish (possibly Manzo con pepe e verdure beef with pepper sauce and vegetables). Not 100% sure on the names of the menu items because I showed him screenshots of what we wanted from customer posts. I also asked for spicy sauce on the side along with a fork and spoon for Mink. Unfortunately, they only offer chopsticks. I rushed back to the hotel so we could eat. The bag was pretty heavy and when I opened up the containers, I could see that they were very generous with the beef. They took great care to pack the beef dish and the chili oil. It was wrapped up very well with Saran Wrap to prevent any leaks. Great attention to detail on this. I let Mink dig in first since she was starving at this point. All I could hear was "aroi" which means delicious in Thai. When I finally ate a few bites, I could see what she was talking about. It was unexpectedly really good. The chili oil also had a slight kick to it so it didn't disappoint. I'm starting to embrace Mink's Asian food cravings in Europe now because we have been finding some amazing places to eat. This place reminds me of some food I had while in China so the reviews are accurate. For those of you in Milan that haven't been to China, this is just like eating from there. All of it for only €21! What amazing value for what you get! Fast forward and Mink wanted Asian food again! She specifically said to go back to Mao Hunan because she really liked it the first time. It's extremely rare we go to the same restaurant twice in a trip but we did. This time we ordered a Tagliatelle di riso con manzo e germogli di soiarice tagliatelle with beef and bean sprouts and Ravioli di maiale in salsa Sichuan piccante dumplings of pork in Sichuan spicy sauce. This time I asked the guy what each menu item was called to be sure lol. We also got this order to go. The dumplings were incredibly soft and the beef chow funn was really good. This time it was only €17! Must try if you're in Milan and craving Asian, or Chinese, food!

Yelp
The food was amazing, but our friend got his meal about 30 minutes after the rest of us. Very spicy, use a lot of peppers in every dish. Aside from the service, it was fantastic.

Yelp
It's crazy to me to say that this is the best sichuan food I have had in my life given that it's not even in a country I live in. The pockets of Asian communities in LA have amazing Chinese food, but this food takes it to the next level. We order some a variety of things and every dish was fantastic. The one small gripe I had was the mapo was too sour to eat alone and with rice it was not the best. It's interesting that they named the restaurant after Mao Ze Dong though, a dictator that killed millions of people. Maybe it's a satirical joke of sorts? I will never know. I very much appreciate the food though. Cheers

Yelp
I have worked in China for many years and live in Houston where we have a huge Chinatown with well over 100 restaurants. Thus, I have a fairly well developed understanding of what good Chinese food should taste like. So eating Chinese food in Milano was not my intention and my expectations were very low. I was nicely surprised by the tasty food at Mao's. The mapu tofu was almost right on point. Other dishes I saw and tasted were not bad at all. I liked the place and value. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The best Chinese in town in my opinion. This will be my third visit to this restaurant in the last one year. This is a foodies delight and don't let the decor bother you just enjoy the food. Please make a reservation otherwise not possible to get a table as a walk in. This is not a pricy place we ordered several dishes and paid € 42 for two people not including any alcoholic beverages. A must visit if and when in Milan.

Yelp
I would like to also award a bonus 6th star to this review as this place has changed my entire attitude about Chinese food in Italy. Absolutely amazing, perfectly spiced, perfectly cooked Chinese food. The waiter was able to assist us in English and Italian. He could have also spoken a few other languages to us it appeared. The star of the show for us was the Szechuan dumplings, they were spicy but not too much, the broth was one of the best I have ever had, period, anywhere. Not just the best broth though, this was the overall the perfect dish, I cannot image it getting better. We dumped the remainder of our fried rice in the broth to soak it up after the dumplings were gone, I would highly recommend this. All in all, not just the best Chinese food in Italy, it might be the best Chinese I have had. Their dishes are right there with Duck Duck Goat in Chicago and Duck & Rice in London, our prior favorites before this place overtook them. Don't be confused though, this place is not trying to be upscale like those two, it doesn't need to be. It feels authentic, a small, kinda hard to find, amazing spot. Order the Szechuan dumplings!

Yelp
This Restaurant is great everything came to us very quickly, hot and fresh if you want a break from pasta and pizza. My wife and I were so carbed up we had to find an alternative and we weren't disappointed. So when you visit Milan don't give this restaurant a miss. You may want to book a table as it gets very busy we were lucky that they accommodated us.

Yelp
Not Shanghainese actually it's Hunan cuisine, which is famous for the spicy food. I love Hunan cuisine , as well as Sichuan cuisine.

Yelp
Always miss Chinese food after three days in Europe. A little bit not easy to find but it's in the middle of street-facing shops, next to a fruit shop. Good place if you like spicy food.

Adrian C.

Yelp
The food here is very realistic compared to what you'd get from Hunan China. I'd recommend it to anyone in Milan that is looking for Chinese food to eat. Prices are very reasonable also. 从美国来吃饭在这边。真的好吃。A+

Yelp
The food that I tried here were all tasty. They were quite interesting and unique. For example, they have green pepper beef with cumin. So for those of us who like cumin, wow that's a treat. Then I tried their cold noodle with spicy sauce. That one was quite good too. I have never eaten something like that before. The prawn fried rice was very aromatic. Overall... It was a great experience, especially when trying to find a good Chinese food in the middle of Milan.

Yelp
The pork (we ordered 2 type of it) is really good, noodle also good. Totally a place you shouldn't miss if you're in Milan.

Yelp
Really good. Needs reservation. We went there without a reservation but they gave us a chance to use a table in 1.5hrs before their customers come. It is short but enough for us to have a taste of foods. So next time it is better to make an appointment before you go. Foods are amazing

Yelp
Ordered some peanut chicken and it was good but ohh so spicy! Decent quick meal. I was trying to get to Wang Jiao which is close by but I found out that although they are supposed to be open till 3, they close the kitchen at 2:30. This was a great backup :)

Yelp
It was a great surprised to find such good Chinese food in Milano. After backpacking for Europe for weeks, I was dying for some Chinese food and I am so glad to find this place. I loved the chicken in spicy oil dish, it is not so spicy ( even though it should be haha) but very tasty. And having a bowl of Beef noodle from there was just great. And the place is not even expensive. I will come back if I ever visit Milano again and really want some Chinese food.

Shunxian G.

Yelp
The taste wasn't that intense than it should be. The spicy taste of the the noodle was OK after I added some more chili oil and salt. But for Zhongshui Dumplings were sooooo bad! Even I added some sugar, soy sauce, and chili oil in the bowl. They still tasted so sour.
