The Most Fun Dinner Spots In London - London - The Infatuation

"After 9pm, this romantic Palestinian spot in Notting Hill has a personality transplant. Forget melted wax candles and barely-there backing track. In fact, move the candles off the table because it’s likely that half the room will be up on their chairs, dancing and singing along to ‘I Will Survive’ like they’re auditioning for The X Factor. Confetti is blasted, glasses of Palestinian wine are passed around, and sumac-heavy mousakhan wraps are wolfed down." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley

The 19 Best Restaurants In Notting Hill

"Pre-9pm, coming for a romantic dinner is the move at Maramia Cafe. The candles, single roses hanging from the ceiling, and menu of Palestinian mezze and traditional dishes will all significantly improve your chances of charming someone. After that on a weekend, the dining room becomes a dancing-on-tables, singing loudly, and accidentally knocking chilli sauce off the table kind of place. Whether you’re here to have a meaningful conversation or let your hair down, the chicken mousakhan—fresh za'atar-dusted taboon bread with pulled chicken breast, caramelised onions, and sumac—is a must-order." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

Maramia Cafe - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"Coming for a romantic dinner is the move at Maramia Cafe. The melted wax candles, single roses hanging from the ceiling, and a menu of Palestinian mezze and traditional dishes will all significantly improve your chances of charming someone special. Our favourite dishes can be found in the ‘traditional’ section of the menu. Namely the chicken mousakhan—fresh za'atar-dusted taboon bread filled with pulled chicken breast, caramelised onions, and a generous amount of sumac. It’s tangy and carby, and the dipping yoghurt on the side brings something fresh to the plate. Finish with knefeh Naboulsia, a syrupy, cheesy, Palestinian cheesecake. It’s the perfect segue into the “I want to stop dating other people” chat." - Rianne Shlebak

Literally some of the best food I’ve ever had. I think about this meal weekly (I visited Feb 2024). Everything tastes amazing and fresh. Service can be slow but don’t let this deter you. Very reasonably priced as well.

Food here was really delicious, we had the Chicken Mussakhan, the Palestinian Moussaka, Gaza Salad, and Sujuk. Lovely bread too! We also enjoyed the lemon and mint juice and beer. Service was quick and the staff were friendly, even though it was quite busy.

We were for dinner. The place is overrated. It is just OK. The service was slow we were ok with that specially we have something to talk about but still that was slow. The starters were good with good amount of bread. The chicken Mousakhan which was the main dish and well known in there was too fatty for us. We got at the end the maramiah tea 👍🏼

Disaster from the service to the food.Very bad mismangement. The restaurant was completely empty , when we arrived, we were thinking we will receive great service, never happened. My friend and I were totally ignored, the quality of the food was very dissapointing. It was only when we were leaving my friend told the waiter that his Palestinian and there was a total turn around from the service we initially received. The waiter asked if we need anything. It was too little too late.

Honestly this was the BEST value for money during my trip in London. Stumbled upon this restaurant while we were eating pastel de nata just right across this restaurant. From Lisbon, we were transported to Middle East, a humble Palestinian restaurant that offers various delicacies. We ordered the grilled chicken and my oh my that sauce was something else. Definitely recommend if you’re strolling around in Notting Hill.

This is my second time being to Maramia and I love it here. All the staff are extremely friendly. I went for my birthday dinner and was treated to a free slice of cake and my entire table got a free round of Margaritas. I love coming here and will definitely come back again. The food was amazing and tasted beautiful, I had the Foul and Chicken Mousakhan. The atmosphere was very lovely and intimate. The Maramia staff have done an amazing job of creating a place that feels like home.

Yelp
Was very much looking forward to trying this place out especially being Palestinian. Let's start with the greeting. They were so unfriendly as we arrived and were very disorganized. The floors were dirty and very uninviting. We waited around 20 mins before anyone approached us to take our order. I was with family and we decided to try the starters before ordering any mains. The lady that took our order was uninformative about the questions we had and was unhelpful. Once the order came I was very disappointed with the quality and the the way it was served. Typically the eye eats as we say and this was a mess. We ordered tabbouleh, sujek, maramia salad, mtabal and labneh. All were tasteless and no substance to it. We decided to pay and leave once done. My sister who was part of the party that was there was food poisoned over night- I believe the parsley or the salad was the cooperate. Probably unwashed and it was awful as it was just a bunch of parsley and nothing else. She had a horrendous night and once seen by the doctor was told it was food poisoning and that she is lucky it wasn't worse. A disappointing experience with awful service and very unprofessional.

Yelp
2nd time in 2 weeks I have been here - this time with a small group. Having spoken to the excellent and friendly waitress on my last visit she said they do things such as Maqlubah (Arabic for upside down) for parties of at least 4/5. It is a dish with chicken or lamb, rice and vegetables which is all cooked in the one pot, and then tipped 'upside down'. We had the lamb maqlubah. It was £25 per head for 5 people and there was absolutely loads of food. You got starters included - a mix of hot and cold meze - yoghurt, tabuleh, houmous, falafel, lamb, sausage and bread. The centre piece though was the maqlubah - the lamb was falling off the bone, the rice well cooked and so we're the vegetables. We struggles to finish it. Highly recommended if with a group - must give them a day or two notice in advance to cook it.

Yelp
I accidentally found the place at the end of The Portobello Market, it was at the very end, once you get to the end, you will see it. It is actually part of the Acklam Village, where it has a few food stands, and it also have a venue space, bar and pop up cinema. The food is Middle Eastern, I have to the Middle East, and this was authentic. The chef of the day comes from Lebanon, I don't know if he is the regular chef. The gyros here is actually served in small pita and one like an panini sandwiches. The favor was very good.

Yelp
If you want a real experience of Palestine you must visit this Resturant. Food is amazing. They serve all the famous traditional homemade Palestinian food. From the A to Z everything is amazing here. Great warm welcoming staff. Check them out. Try the Maakan, falfel , maklooba, and top it off with mint cup of tea and kunafa

Yelp
Possibly the only Palestinian cafe in London, this is a real find. Maramia has been around for about a year now and is one of my regular haunts for a healthy lunch. The food is homecooked, fresh and delicious. The choice is fairly limited, but the mixed plate (only found out today that this constitutes a typical Palestinian breakfast) is made up of half a dozen vegetarian delicacies. More substantial options are grilled fish or chicken. The interior started off fairly bland but is taking on an increasingly homely feel. Very obviously a family business with three generations helping out; the kids taking on the role of entertainers.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal service and solid Palestinian food. I'm no expert on Palestinian food, so can only say that my prawns dish was well done -- nicely cooked with flavourful sauce. What made this restaurant truly stand out was the service. About seven of us had to leave the restaurant next door, because they were going to charge us for some of us who couldn't make it. The moment we walked in, they were quick to take our orders and serve us. Then, when we were the only ones left at the restaurant, they let us hook up our own playlist to the speaker and have a private party of sort. When time to pay came and the bunch of us were going through (what wasn't supposed to be) complicated math, they were patient and not imposing at all. Finally, when we were waiting for our cabs outside, they even invited us to sit and wait on their bench instead! I really appreciate businesses with owners of good heart. I'd definitely recommend this place for an all-around great experience.

Yelp
This is a fantastic cafe - I often travel here for lunch from my work nearby for a fresh and tasty meal that won't break the bank in these credit crunch times. The food is homecooked and made that day by the smiling and super-friendly owners, who appear to be a large and friendly family! I would recommend any of the salads, but for something more substantial there are some great grilled fish and meat dishes. Coffees here are first class as well, there are plenty of sweets to choose from if you need a sugary boost to get through the afternoon. This is a lovely area to wander around once you've stuffed yourself full of food!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food, a firm favourite. The vegetarian platter is a godsend for lunch, with falafel, shakshouka, various veggie patty things, hoummos and salad. Delicious, properly mint-y mint tea too. Unlike almost everything else in London - do check it out if you're in the area (although if you just want a falafel wrap, go to the blue tent further down the street ;).
