Marathon Coffee

I tried their drip (a.k.a. brewed) coffee, I thought that it was nothing special. The charge was $3.50 for a small, $3.65 for a large. I tried their Pumpkin Bread which was fresh, but had little taste. It was hard to identify it as having pumpkin flavor because its taste was so weak.

Kind baristas, DELICIOUS cruffins (a croissant-muffin hybrid!), and really great coffee. This little place is a gem! Perfect (but modern) local coffee shop feel, they have a bunch of yummy baked goods and even some special breakfast tacos I have yet to try. The workers are so kind and really knowledgeable. This is my favorite weekend treat! :)

A lovely coffee shop with inviting atmosphere and friendly staff. The shop offers a variety of baked pastries to pair with their selection of coffee. I ordered a cold brew with oat milk and caramel flavoring as well as a banana muffin which looked amazing. The coffee is bold with a nice tart flavoring. I would have preferred the caramel to be a bit stronger but in syrup form it doesn’t pack as much of a punch as real caramel sauce. I would love to return to try more blends and pastries. A great experience overall.

The coffee is great, but can you install a ramp for strollers and/or a button for the door to open automatically? You're missing out on a key demographic - parents with strollers in need of coffee. I don't think I will be returning with a stroller - it's just too much hassle. Luckily, there are other great coffee shops in the area that are accessible.

Hey, upper east side! Here's another certified great New York coffee spot. Stopped here on my way to the Met, cold brew was fair priced and well brewed. My fiancee loved that they had a hot honey latte, we are both big fans of hot honey. The service was quite fast, and I loved the little sign out front. A safe bet for good coffee on the upper east side.

Excellent coffee spot - it’s a tiny little storefront. What they lack in size, they make up in flavor. The coffee is smooth and delicious and the taste beats many of the other coffee joints in the area (I’m looking at you birch coffee, LPQ, and Maman). Just an FYI - The regular and large sizes have the same amount of espresso poured into it. It’s best to get this to go, it’s not a sit around a take your time to drink your coffee type of place. So happy they’re here in the UES

I started getting coffee here almost every day on my way to pick up my kid from school, and I always order a latte made with half & half. Today the barista said she didn't have enough half & half to make a latte, and I said that's okay, could she use what's available then make up the difference with regular milk? She said sure, then added angrily and not quite under her breathe, "I won't have any left for the rest of the day, but SURE." It was bizarrely hostile, as if I had conspired to make her run out of half & half. She could have told me no! (Politely!) I was on the cusp of telling her not to worry about it because I'd go elsewhere, when I remembered that I didn't have enough time to make another stop, so I let her make herself miserable by using up her cream — which she did, her movements jerky with rage. She glared at me as she splashed the last of her half & half in her milk frother, and then dumped the frothed milk aggressively into my cup. I watched her temper tantrum quietly, took my latte and left, vowing never to return. I highly recommend Bomboniera around the corner to everyone instead, on Lex and 91st.

I just moved to NYC. I’ve been to a lot of different coffee shops trying out my new favorite, oat milk latte, and this is by far the best in the city and I’m blessed to live super close! I accidentally spilled a freshly made oat milk latte, of course offered to pay for another and clean up my mess! But the barista wouldn’t have it, he was so kind, made me a new one without even asking for me to pay and cleaned up my mess ❤️ Not only is this the best coffee in the city but genuine kind hearted people work here ❤️ Thank you so much for being great!

Love this coffee, especially the salted caramel latte. Nice balance of flavors, not too sweet, coffee flavor comes through and with a nice roasted taste to it.

Marathon coffee on the UES is on my weekly rotation! I come here very frequently and they have never let me down! From their drip to their cappuccino to their lemonade, signature drinks they have never served a bad drink here and I really appreciate it and the reason I keep coming back! The service is always fantastic and it never takes any time to get in and get out whatever I get that day! Get a funny face cookie while here they are GREAT!

The Marathon Coffee establishment has an ideal layout. The indoor aesthetic is unmatched and has a rainy day, calm coffee shop vibe. The coffee decorations surround the customer with feelings of warmth and welcome. The service at this establishment is terrific. The accepting welcoming greeting of the baristas are quite like none other. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for, and the coffee is exceptional as well. Overall, I really enjoy my visits to the shop, they are active on socials as well! There is indoor and outdoor seating with a wonderful aesthetic. I would definitely return to this establishment many times over. I feel like I have not put enough stress on how kind the service was to me during my visit, they are extremely helpful and take your order with pride. The baristas are wonderful and the customers there are personable and able to converse (especially on how good their coffee is!).

What a cute little coffee shop! Good coffee, friendly service, and the lavender syrup is en point, flavorful but not too sweet. There isn't much seating inside, just enough for two at a counter table, and about three tables outside. No outlets inside, so this isn't the sort of place you'll want to work remotely from, but great for grabbing a latte on the go or for chatting outside when the weather is warmer.

I love it here because they have pink coffee cup tops and it's a kind of think that you can make custom made for your Cadillac or convertible Chevy. Or it can look like Barbie pink as well. There is outdoor seating and two tables outside, and a little bit of seating on the inside. The latte was full of good foam, and the place had a CRUFFIN with strawberries, which were preserved and cheesecake and the filling was really good and sweet. There was also a lot of filling which was a great surprise. I always get so disappointed with dessert when the filling is a small dot but Marathon's cruffin had so much yummy filling. Friendly and sweet staff too!

Okay, it's the little things in life that truly make your day better. Like this iced chai latte--I tried the iced matcha latte, and it was good, but it didn't hit the same way as the ICED CHAI!!! So, it's perfectly sweetened, and I always pair it with oat milk because, hello, why would you drink regular milk in 2023? Just kiddingggggg, I love dairy - but anyways, this cafe always hits the spot right after the gym/I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you that this is my favorite place ever to get an iced chai latte from. Marathon Cafe is my daily motivation to go to the gym because I always reward myself with their lovely refreshments afterwards! Not to mention, the lavender syrup they use is homemade --WOWWWW!

Meh, this place is very mediocre for a third rail coffee shop. Coffee so so, no place to sit, slow staff and a few different baristas were just all around not the warmest (nor was their coffee--keep it warmer!). Better option than Starbucks, but I'd probably grab a cup from a cart over this.

The coffee is great quality, but better if you enjoy americanos, black coffee etc not the sweeter kinds of speciality coffee though. The service is always great, the baristas are always so nice and I love the pink lids on the hot coffees!!!

So sad because the store is a super cute hole in the wall, and I absolutely love their branded cups for hot drinks. It's not in the photo, but the lid is like a light pastel PINK. THAT IS SO FUN. More places should have more colorful cups because it was so pretty with the light blue cup. But... this review is for the iced rose cardamom latte, which came recommended by the cashier as one of their new drinks. I generally love spiced, flavored, coffee, but this was just...bad. I am very sad about it. I couldn't tell if the coffee was good or not because I was so focused on the fact that the flavor was So. Bad. I'm talking from the MOMENT you take a sip to the experience of having it on your tongue, to the aftertaste. There's something not only bitter but also sour(??) about it. I just cannot un-recommend it enough. I'd be willing to give this place another shot just because this is one of so many drinks on the menu and I'm a ginormous sucker for cute packaging.

Tiny locals neighborhood coffee joint which offers up a tasty cup of java. Nice and clean spot. Friendly service. No real seating other than a few seats by the small front window area. During nice weather they place a few tables on the sidewalk. Limited menu of pasty items and bagels also available. There is a holiday drink menu and the peppermint mocha hit the spot on a cold afternoon. Not a large menu overall but what they do offer is done well. Decently priced too. They also have a loyalty punch card.

My friend recommended this place in the Upper East Side since it's quick and has reasonably priced drinks. I tried the spiced matcha latte, which was a fall special with matcha, honey, and cinnamon. I thought it was a great balance of sweetness and spice! There isn't too much variety in the menu, so I would only come here to get more of the basic coffee drinks.

My small cappuccino was delicious! Strong but smooooth. Will get the lArge one next time. Their cups look great ! Almond croissant was good. Not too sweet, buttery, with flaky crispy and soft bits. Will return.

Huge fan of the cups (super aesthetic, is it not?). There are many flavor options for syrups. Got myself a lavender latte and am a fan of the result!

Nice looking place, however, my wife and i got an espresso and cortado and they were so bad we had to throw them out. It was late in the day and they tasted like burnt coffee. We think the machine needed cleaning.

Marathon Coffee has been open a while now. I've been visiting numerous times and always find the employees friendly and efficient. I've talked to the owner a couple of times. They are working on serving a hot food menu and bringing back the bagels and cream cheese. I'm looking forward to eating some breakfast with my coffee. I've got my favorite seat in the window. It's very clean both inside and outside. I'm raising the stars to five. It's my favorite coffee shop near home. Check out their Fall Menu. I like to get here early!

I'm a big fan of Marathon Coffee though I haven't tried the coffee - just the matcha. Sometimes it feels like matcha and other teas are an afterthought at coffee shops and at marathon that's just not the case. I've had the spiced matcha latte with oat milk twice now and I'm obsessed. It's a great flavor that is lightly sweetened and has a holiday flavor to it with the cinnamon. Even when there's been a short line it only takes a few minutes to get my order and the service is friendly and welcoming. Plus they have a rewards card that you get stamped for a free drink after so many visits.

Such a good little coffee shop in this neighborhood! The cups are so cute with the pink lid. I tried the Chai Matcha and it was fantastic! I've never had that combo before but highly recommend. Will be back (even picked up a rewards punch card!)

Lovely spot for a weekend coffee with the pup! I've also had their winter matcha (matcha latte with mocha syrup) with oat milk and a strawberry cheese cruffin. There's a steady stream of customers on the weekend and a friendly vibe!

Yum! I ordered a Chai with espresso and the mix they used had such a nice blend of spices. Cute restaurant and mugs, too; I would honestly continue coming just for the cups but luckily the coffee I tried was good, too. They had a nice selection of muffins and breakfast loafs (like Banana bread). Small space inside, though, so it's grab and go rather than a work area. Staff was super kind, too!

I ordered an iced vanilla oat milk latte. I watched her make it and by the color alone, said too myself "that's too much milk" and on my first sip my thought was confirmed. I took 2 sips and threw it out. It tasted like milk. just milk. no vanilla, no coffee. if your into that, go ahead and try it lol Also, to charge $6 for a SMALLL latte is insane lol especially when i could have made something better at home. Wouldn't try again.

The coffee was ok but a little watery. It was hot enough. Service was quick and pleasant.

I've been here maybe 4 times now? Solid drip coffee (and I like strong, roasty Starbucks coffee so this is saying something -- something good IMO :) ). My boyfriend once tried some flavored latte and it was too sweet (but that's often the case with those -- maybe we should ask for less pumps of syrup or whatever they use next time). Food-wise I've had the veggie quiche twice and really liked it. Also the cups are really cute. Lol. Wish it was an even *slightly* bigger space so there could be more seating. They're always playing good music in there and I would love to stay a while and work, read, or chat with a friend. In any case, happy to have this place right by me! Definitely a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Wanted something different for my usual Dunkin Donuts pick-me-up. I decided to come here in the morning and the place looks really nice and clean. However, the cappuccino I ordered was straight up a SCAM. Tasted terrible and the amount they give you for what you pay is absurd! $4.50 for half a cup. Sizes they serve are small and large. Ridiculous...I'm going to go back to my usual DD, I wanted to try something local but didn't meet expectations. In the picture I didn't take a sip. That's how much they gave. And it was not the best coffee I've had.

I have been to just about every cafe in the area and my favorite oat latte so far has been from Marathon. The employees are friendly and the cafe itself is super cute. I also love that they have a punch card.

Quick service. In & out in under 5 min. Good coffee. Also has alternate milk options. Not overpriced either. I plan to visit again while I'm in the city. (I should have taken a picture)

Marathon coffee has delicious lattes. Their espresso is smooth and lacks the acidic bite many cafes have. The owner and his staff are friendly. Delicious pastries too. Recommend the hazelnut mocha. Usually flavored drinks are so sweet and lack real flavor. This drink is perfectly balanced so it's flavorful.

A cute new little place! I got the matcha chai iced, a combination I've seen only at a few other places and can't resist when I do see it. It was tasty! The two baristas were friendly, fast, and kind. The space itself is pretty, looks modern, and has just enough space to grab a quick bite with a friend. I'll have to try their baked goods sometimes, but for now I'm really happy with it!

I came here recently and was filled with such joy! I'm usually a Starbucks gal so coming here was a little different but I loved it! I told the nice barista working i belive her name was Jasmine what I usually order at Starbucks and she helped me get something super similar but so much better! Will definitely be coming back!

Marathon Coffee has the best coffee and pastries. I go every Saturday after my long walk in Central Park. The service is excellent and I enjoy speaking to the owner. They also have another location on 6th Ave which I have also been to. Go check them out!!

Coffee is good and staffs are nice except that there're always flies around breads. Always wanted try their croissant but a little concerned about the sanitary condition.

The barista is so funny and made amazing drinks for me and my friend!! Definitely coming back and getting a chai latte again.

Only giving this place one star because up until this morning my coffee has been good and the service has been good. My sense is that there's just one bad apple here. For some reason this morning the woman (didn't recognize her) - eating when I walked in - who made my coffee made it with a ton of foam. Because I get this drink every morning, I can tell. When I asked her to take some off and give me more steamed milk, she (and the other woman who's typically nice) proceeded to lecture me on what drink I *should* be getting instead. When I told her that I would just keep getting the drink I've been getting for 15 years ( i probably know more about coffee than she'll ever know), the snarky comment I got back was: Well, this is how we make it here. Now, since the other woman just punched my loyalty card, she should have already known I knew how the regulars made it there, perhaps humbled herself and just corrected it. In any case, she was condescending and rude unnecessarily (and possibly racist, as I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't feel the need tp educate her white patrons in quite the same way). It's too bad the other woman who's normally nice took her lead. Won't be returning.
