"At Marchesi Vineyards, patrons can drink Northern Italian varieties like dolcetto, nebbiolo, and barbera white sitting on the patio surrounded by vines." - Katrina Yentch

Went up to Hood River for a day of enjoying wine and a beautiful day. Stopped at Marchesi Vineyards and Winery and had a wonderful time. Marchesi’s is in a spectacular location in the Columbia River Gorge and offers magnificent views. We were seated in a private lounge overlooking the vineyard and enjoyed some fine Italian wine. The wines were delicious the service was very friendly and professional. I would recommend if you’re in the Hood River area looking for a great place to relax and enjoy some wine with friends and or family Marchesi’s is a terrific place to go.

One of the most amazing tasting rooms I’ve been to! We sat in a beautiful hut surrounded by and looking out at the vineyards.

Google
Lovely wine. Lovely time. Beautiful "cabana-esque" tasting area (some come with fire pits for those cold PNW days/evenings) overlooking the vines. Wish we lived closer so we could come all the time!

Google
What an amazing atmosphere! You feel like you were transported to Italy. With fantastic wine (all with their own personal description/ story from the owner), wonderful service and an amazing view! My husband and I were visiting the area and had a bad experience with one of the wineries down the road due to them being not so pet friendly as they claimed so we looked for something else and came across this one and called explaining we had a little dog with us and the owner explained they are not just pet friendly but people friendly, kid friendly, they loved everyone! Once we arrived the owner even came and greeted us personally, giving our little dog a treat. We were thrilled! Oh and we got a little private booth overlooking the vineyard and wow what a view! I have the say the most beautiful vineyard I've personally ever been to and the wine was delicious! I personally recommend the Barbera 2020 for any red wine lovers. Our server was also extremely knowledgeable and friendly too! Overall if you're in the area, this is a MUST STOP!!

We have been members since 2011 with a three year hiatus only because we moved to Arizona and we weren't sure about shipping etc. We rejoined a couple years ago and this year they had a winemakers dinner in Scottsdale, what a great event top notch like everything Franco Marchesi does. We made an order of wine from the event and tonight Franco called to clarify the order. The Owner, winemaker called personally to ask about our order!! This is true customer service and commitment to the brand! You can't ask for anything more, Franco is a true class act. We love Franco, Sandy and all of Marchesi Vineyards.

Google
Italian vineyard without leaving the country in Oregon. Beautiful property! They have a private tasting rooms facing and aligned to look at the line of vines. It was super hot day but each room came with the water mist to keep you cool which we thought was wonderful idea to have guests to relax and to enjoy the sips even in the uncomfortable temp outside. (We got wet after sitting in front of it too long. Lol) They grow Italian grapes unlike many others in the region. We enjoyed antipasti which hit the spot in our stomach. Highly recommend to make a stop here.

Google
Great winery experience. Would definitely go back. Our group each got a flight and we ordered a large charcuterie board. We then each ordered glasses of wine, some from the flights and others just to try. Everyone was satisfied. Views were wonderful and of course our favorite part was the farm dog, Jazzy. She accompanied us for a majority of our visit and we were more than happy to have her nearby. I'm visiting from Alabama and I will definitely come back here when I visit this area again.

Google
Wonderful experience! All of the workers were very relaxed and accommodating, as well as knowledgeable. The seating arrangements were beautiful, larger areas with fireplaces outside under a canopy. Smaller seating areas outside as well which has canopy’s enveloped with vines and flowers, over looking the vineyards. A very lovely experience and a great price as well!

Yelp
Cute winery near hood river with very cozy Italian vibes. Only docking a star because our server seemed really distracted and never really came to check up on us. We had to ask a different server to check on our charcuterie board (which seems like our og server forgot to put in?) good wines and cute space for an indoor/outdoor feel when it's cold but you still want to kind of be outside. Lots of fire tables too.

Bob C.

Yelp
Frist of al Isaac was a great server. The wine was excellent. Enough so that we joined the wine club here. The Charcuterie board was excellent. Definitely recommend if you like wine and atmosphere while you drink excellent wines

Richa T.

Yelp
We came here for a wine tasting the other night and absolutely loved this place! The staff is so friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you're accommodated. The interior is decorated in an Italian style with a lot of their wineries taking inspiration from Italy. Highly recommend trying the wine flight. They do rotate it every now and then. However, it's about 1 oz each of five different wines. They also have a charcuterie board that you can add on. On weekends, there is a much more elaborate one. During the week, they have a nice standard one with salami, cheese, and bread. You can also add olives or hazelnuts too if you want. Cannot wait to come back here soon! IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
The wine was good, the service even better and I would love to return in summers when the place is a little more green. We got the wine flight and enjoyed almost all of them . Our server even gave us a complimentary wine by the end of our tasting . She was so great and walked us through the history of the owner and the vineyard and even made us meet him in-person. It was a chilly but sunny day and the heaters in the patio really helped make it cozy . I was not impressed by the Charcuterie but the wines more than made up for it . If you are a fan of Italian wines , this would definitely be a good place to come to .

Signe S.

Yelp
Great place to have a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine. The servers were very knowledgeable. The little booths were lovely and private.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I visited a few wineries on the way to Mt. Hood, Marchesi Vineyard was by far my favorite. While it doesn't have a view of Mt Hood the setup is absolutely perfect! The seating areas are between the rows and rows of vines. It's absolutely picturesque! My friend & I split a bottle of moscato. It was wasn't the sweetest moscato, but it was still yummy. We also ordered the small charcuterie board - perfect for two people! Date night or girls trip, this place is a must!

Jeannie D.

Yelp
Loved my afternoon here, perfect place to catch up with friends! Excellent wine, and the charcuterie board was nice. If you are gluten free or vegetarian/pescatarian it'll be a very small snack as they don't have substitutes. Cozy with heaters and closed in areas. It was very pleasant and pretty quiet. Everyone was very friendly, bought a couple bottles to go - check out was a breeze!

Myrna S.

Yelp
We had a lovely time visiting this beautiful vineyard. The young man who assisted us with our tasting (Finn) was very knowledgeable and very sweet, definitely helped to make for a great visit. I opted for a glass of Nebbiolo instead of doing a tasting flight, and was not disappointed. It was fantastic. This vineyard seems to focus more on traditional red Italian wines, which happen to be some of my favorite, and they do a great job with them. The ambiance was a little different as well which enhanced the experience. Definitely recommend stopping here.

Rachel M.

Yelp
Amazing in every way, wish we lived closer so we could enjoy it on a regular basis. Our favorite wine was the Emma Sangiovese.

Tim R.

Yelp
Delicious wine in a beautiful natural setting. Enjoyed a wine tasting with a charcuterie plate here. They offer a solid selection of reds from local grapes. They have an interesting twist of an Italian family making local Hood River wine. There's a ton of outdoor seating and they are dog friendly. Their wine club membership is very affordable. Would come back again and again.

Jody L.

Yelp
A+ perfect. Delicious wines in a breathtaking setting. Sit with friends on a sofa or swing or enjoy an intimate private area. It was 98 and the misters were beyond lovely. The staff is very kind. Highly recommend going in a week day or earlier on a weekend as the place can get packed. Do not miss when in Hood River

Sarah Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Beautiful location to sip a tasting on a sunny day. Wish they had more food options. Wine was approachable.

Martina C.

Yelp
Okay so the wine was 4 star easily. Mostly good. I love an Italian wine. Service was 1 star. One. Our server said here is the menu, we said 4 tastings and she came back with the 4 carafes, 4 glasses and told us "these are to share" they are each of the four wines from the tasting menu. And bailed. I asked her to pay, as we were time constricted thanks to the "wine tour" we were with and she looked at me when I was trying to catch her attention and just kept walking. I had to almost shout at the host who got her to come over so we could pay. And three of the girls bought wine. The service put me off. I don't know if I would want to go back because though the wine was good, I have had a lot of good wine. I can get it with pleasant service and without a feeling of being hassled.

Kim G.

Yelp
This beautiful winery has done an amazing job during Covid creating lots of safe, intimate seating area allowing guests to sit practically amongst the vineyard or on the patio. Some sections have comfy couches or a seat swing; others are chairs around a table. There are out door heaters to take the chill out of the air allowing you to enjoy a flight or bottle in the open, fresh air. Once seated, you go to the ordering window to place and take your order back to your seating area. In addition to wine, they have a great meat, cheese and baguette plate. I saw that others brought their own picnic items, which is a huge plus that they allow this. Since they are famous for their Barbera, I went for a glass rather than do a flight. Sitting amongst the grapevines, enjoying my delicious wine as the sun set was the perfect ending to a perfect Halloween in Hood River.

Dana Z.

Yelp
What a lovely place to taste wine! We absolutely loved the service and the cozy blankets snuggled with our puppy. The interesting and delicious wines were so much fun and the cheese and salami board was fantastic too! We'll be back!

Trish J.

Yelp
I just read my last review from two years ago, and wow has my opinion changed! Since the last time I was here, I've done a deep dive into my red wines and refined my wine tastes a bit more. Wines: I couldn't find fault with any of the wines on their tasting menu. I had a hard time picking my favorite. However we did get a chance to try the 2020 Sangiovese and promptly ordered a bottle to share while we were there. Atmosphere: There is just something delightfully peaceful about sitting in your own cozy heated patio, listening to Italian music, watching the rain fall amongst the vines, while snacking on a cheese platter and drinking good wine. If you need a break away from your stressful busy life, this is the way to do it. Join the wine club, it's worth it! We are from Idaho and they have free shipping to us. Just the tiniest concern though: they were really busy on this rainy Sunday afternoon and didn't have enough people serving so you waited (patiently of course) for service. But she does bring your tastings out all at once so you don't have to wait for those.

Jaylee M.

Yelp
My fiancé and I had the pleasure of visiting Marchesi a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. When pulling in, the area looked very busy but we were able to be accommodated relatively quickly. There are many indoor and outdoor options for seating, with fantastic ambiance and views. Our server was very knowledgable on the backstory of the location and each wine they had to offer. I really enjoyed their rosato and prosecco they offered. The charcuterie board was a big plus for me!

Jay T.

Yelp
The winery is quaint with your own little tasting area with a nice little view of the grapes which we loved. We enjoyed the music and the service was very nice. The red wines were great. Loved the 21 Primitivo. My only complaint is not deducting from your tasting fee no matter how many bottles you buy, this deducted 3 stars other wise I have given a 5 star.

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds, feels like you walked straight out of the Italian countryside! Ample variety of seating overlooking the grounds (chairs, lounge, couches etc). We thoroughly enjoyed the wine, supposedly this region of Oregon has the same landscape as Northern Italy so the wines are similar! We were a little surprised the tasting was 20$ for the size of the pours, but we enjoyed all of them.

Klaus O.

Yelp
Went there with my wifey on the last warm weekend in October, because I saw that my former colleague went there. We went early to beat the crowds. It is just a beautiful vineyard operated by a Italian from Piedmont. Plenty of parking, good service. A phenomenal tasting charcuterie board and outstanding wine. I bought two bottles and we will be back.

Derek F.

Yelp
Marchesi Vineyards is amazing. Great wine, spectacular view and even better service. I highly recommend becoming a member. Awesome benefits. You wont regret it.

Angie S.

Yelp
So glad we picked Marchesi Vineyards for our afternoon wine tasting. The staff is amazing and the grounds beautiful. Get the gazebo seating if you can. They are private and have a gorgeous view of the vineyards. We ordered the tasting flight and charcuterie board. I enjoyed all five wines. My daughter and her boyfriend liked almost all of them. The cheese on the board was delicious and had us fighting over the last piece. There are two resident winery puppies that kept escaping the house and coming over to visit. We didn't mind one bit and welcomed them. We also saw a couple kitties that allowed brief pets. Would visit again next time we're in the area.

Yelp
This was our last stop in doing the Fruit Loop area. It was a great last stop! We did the wine tasting first. I have to say though, that it was a pretty conservative tasting pour for $20 a tasting. We bought two and a cheese board and two glasses of wine. In the end we bought two bottles of wine. I was surprised though that the wine tasting fee wasn't incorporated into the bottles we bought. So it was an expensive tasting in the end. That out of the way first, it was a wonderful place to taste wines, they had a cat that greeted us, and had fire pits, which I really appreciated. This place is dog friendly I noticed as well. We really enjoyed a few of the wines. I can tell that the pricing favors members. Some wines I loved, while others not so much. We enjoyed this place, we really did but in the end it cost us $175. I feel like the $20 tasting fee was a bit much for the pour, especially after having bought 2 bottles. We'd definitely go back, for it really was a great find otherwise. Most places taste more wines for $15. Just a thought.

Kimberly T.

Yelp
We had a terrific experience at Marchesi. We called the day before and made a reservation and were glad we did because it was a busy weekend afternoon. Very friendly and welcoming. Our server Jamie was knowledgable. We got to try several Italian varietals have never had before. We. enjoyed the Barbera and Sangeoivase the best! Lovely setting on the patio and cabanas next to the vineyards. Generous tasting of 4 wines (and two others we requested to try). The meat and cheese board was great for four people. This was one of our favorite of all the vineyards we visited over the weekend. Very enjoyable.

Ryan M.

Yelp
One visit member converts. Cheese plates are great wine is great atmosphere is top notch. Good as it gets. Service as good as you can ask for.

Chris B.

Yelp
It's really disappointing that I had to take two stars away. The wines were great and the atmosphere was even better. The problem we had was with the service. We got seated right away but took about 15-20 minutes for someone to take our order. When the order was placed it didn't take a crazy amount of time to get it BUT nobody ever came back to check on us. We ordered food and water for the table which never came. When we went to pay our bill is when the server noticed and offered to remove the charge. I feel like that should have been assumed and maybe a complimentary bottle or glass to make up for it. The lack of service really left a bad taste in our mouth as it was a great experience otherwise. Worth checking out but be careful who serves you. Seems to be a 50/50 shot at good service.

Georgia L.

Yelp
Great ambiance for a glass of wine! Service was casual but incredibly friendly! We enjoyed a snack board and a glass of wine while enjoying sitting among the grapes. Added bonus that they are dog friendly!

Mindy K.

Yelp
I was visiting hood river and was searching for a winery that was open before noon as there wasn't much else to do due to COVID restrictions. This place popped up on Yelp and what a great find! They have tables and chairs separated by clear dividers and a heater in each little nook/section. Super cozy and the staff were all friendly. Their little kitty comes around and greets you every so often as well. The weather wasn't great but I bet the place is beautiful when everything is in bloom. We had the wine flight and enjoyed every one of them. Gem of a place that I would definitely recommend to any wino's in the area.

Renee C.

Yelp
Loved this place. We had a small charcuterie plate with a wine tasting. Both were excellent. The service was perfectly attentive. The tasting room is beautiful and well layed out right in the middle of the vineyard. If ever we are in the area again, we would definitely make another trip there.

Autumn H.

Yelp
Pretty, but that's all. Service was terrible, wine was nothing to talk about. We were seated, got our order taken and basically forgotten. They even got our order wrong and we didn't catch it right away, but they never came back for us to tell them. Would not come here again.

Cassandra C.

Yelp
Well we were so pleasantly surprised by Marchesi! My partner had a wine spritz with Aperol and I had a white, on site. It was over 90° but the vineyard outdoor space is great for hanging out. You are seated, then you order at a window at your leisure. I'd love to return on a rainy day and see the foggy mist roll over the grapes. I am not sure if there's an indoor space but it seemed like there was. The bathroom is outside.

Brytt G.

Yelp
Everyone should come here! The wine was smooth, full of body, and the most flavorful. Best part of the experience in our visit was our server Jalen! Extremely educated on what was being poured, passionate about the wine creation here, and caring (even during a very busy time). He made sure we were comfortable and continuously had a glass of wine while attending multiple large groups around. Jalen went above and beyond on educating us on each wine (about the grapes, fermentation, what each one pairs best with...etc). Would come back 100000 more for the wine and the employee Jalen! He provided such an unforgettable experience!!

Dane H.

Yelp
Amazing spot. Great wine, beautiful views, friendly staff. Would definitely go back!!

Robert K.

Yelp
If you never have been here you really got to go check it out. The wine is so good, cheese and meat plate is delicious too. The service is good and the place even has a house cat that will come up to you ans say hi.. this

Oliver N.

Yelp
I usually find wineries hard to enjoy if the business doesn't know how to set up their decorations along with tables. Luckily, this place brought me joy right when I got out of my car- the winery feels just like home. They have comfy swings along with soft couches. I felt like we were just sitting at home while enjoying Moscato. The place were not big but it feels so cozy and not crowed. I highly recommend this place for your first winery in Hood River.

Martina B.

Yelp
Such an awesome spot! We stumbled upon it during a January Hood River day. Most other wineries and farms are closed during this time (which we didn't know) so we came here and it was the best. Converted outdoor patio into an enclosed, cozy space with lots of nooks to sit at. The wine was okay, but the ambiance was awesome. Will be back in the summer!

John C K.

Yelp
We have been visiting Marchesi since October 2010 (I was the first on Yelp to review, cough-cough). It has been fun to watch a small, and very intimate wine tasting experience grow. Their followers have expanded greatly since we "discovered" them 8 years ago. (OK,maybe not exactly discovered). A week ago we stopped by again after a couple year absence from Hood River. It was nice to see that the wine tasting room and patio have the same charm as we earlier found in 2010. This is such a laid back winery. Italian opera, a simple antipasto board, a couple winery cats wandering around, friendly staff and, of course, very fine wines. We killed a couple of lazy hours here. Relaxing!! The wine selections are about double to 2010's. My favorite, the barberas. The 10th anniversary special edition is especially tasty! We continue to recommend Marchesi is THE wine tasting experience in Hood River.

Stevie S.

Yelp
HUGE ordeal to get seated and the a glass of wine. This is our 3rd try and after waiting for too long, they show up with a computer and get all your stats. Very inconvenient. Then, always in a rush to do the same to the next guy. We live across the street, born and raised and had to "okay" this to even go in, years ago and I've tried and tried, hoping we would love it to become members, but nope. We will continue to drive to our other wineries that we are members of. Once served, the setting is lovely, depending on where you're seated, but loads of others are lovely as well. Definitely not worth the hassle.

Penelope W.

Yelp
Fun vineyard. Get a gazebo table if you can. We loved 3 of the 5 wines we tried and bought a bottle of each. Friendly staff and explained the wines well. A nice way to spend a couple hours. They have 2 resident dogs and 2 resident cats to pet and love on too!

Jessie P.

Yelp
They do a great job managing the tasting/lounging experience. The best I've seen it done. Everybody checks in at the main counter, chooses a flight and snacks if desired, and you open a tab. Your first taste is poured and described. Then you go find a table. They have tons of patio seating, and it buts right up against the vines, so you're right up in the fruit! The wine servers travel around with a basket of wines, and then just pour for you right at the table. Brilliant! Totally eliminates the whole standing at a wine bar thing, waiting for the one overworked guy to notice your empty glass. We didn't have the charcuterie plate, since we had just enjoyed some local BBQ, but it looked delicious.

Susie M.

Yelp
Let me start with the statement that the wine is pretty good. Unfortunately, wine tasting in Hood River sets the bar pretty high and Marchesi simply falls short. The atmosphere is cheesy and contrived. Seriously, let's just convert an old barn (sort of), buy a truckload of cheap outdoor furniture, get the cushions on special (oh right, they do not fit the lawn furniture but whatever), put up some plastic sheeting to obscure what little views you have of tiny grape vines and add canned Italian music that is decades old. The servers talk with an 'Italian' accent. Really?! We could not wait to get out. With so many outstanding places to sip wine, skip Marchesi. Unless you are captive in a tour bus and have no choice. Those are the only tourists I see patronizing this vineyard.

Ryan E.

Yelp
Such a nice place to relax and enjoy wine with friends. We sat on their patio couches with the dogs and brought our own sandwiches. Even though there was a breeze, I'm glad they had fans to help keep flies away.

Bianca E.

Yelp
Everyone was so nice, we had a beautiful table, and best of all: THE WINE WAS DELICIOUS! I'm dreaming of that Barbera today! We had our two littles with us, and we all had a wonderful visit, and we can't wait to return!

Melissa P.

Yelp
Hands down the best winery in Hood River! I was here Saturday for one stop of several on a wine tour through Hood River with a bachelorette party, we had 11 people and they easily accommodated us. We had great comfortable couches to sit in, fans behind us, a table with breadsticks and water and they will bring you your pours after you get your first one inside, which we really appreciated! Tastings are only $10 for 6 pours, which we found to be generous compared to other local places. We all agreed the Barbera was the best one and several of us bought bottles. While I'm not a member (yet) one of the girls in our group was and it seems fairly reasonable and her favorite perks were 20% off bottles and free shipping when it comes time to purchase cases, which is great if you can't make it out there for a pickup! Definitely will be back, likely as a member.

Erin D.

Yelp
Beautiful winery with delicious wine and cheese plates! It was clear that the staff was working very hard to make sure guests feel safe with all of the Covid precautions. There was plenty of outdoor seating and even a winery dog and cat that roamed around and greeted guests.

Matt S.

Yelp
Had higher hopes for this place based on reviews. Had to wait 20 minutes to be given a menu. Seats were wet because of strange misting system above tables. Views were decent but not the best in the area. Almost left after waiting so long but decided to give the $20 flight a chance. Minuscule pours, no interesting backgrounds on wines, and they all tasted pretty much the same. Instant headache and buyers remorse. Won't be coming back here.

Britney H.

Yelp
As a winery this is one of the best. Every single wine I have tried has been amazing and you can truly taste how much they care. This is by far the easiest wine club to be a member of. As a fun place to spend an afternoon or a great date this is still one of the best. The tasting are fantastic as how can they not be with some of the best wine. However it is equally matched with the beautiful scenery. You start your tasting inside and can move out to enjoy the vineyard. The amazing staff will bring by your next pour and any food you may have added on. You may also bring food or a picnic with you. Children and dogs are welcome and you will often be greeted by the farm cats or the happy dog runny around the vineyard. It's amazing to me that such a short drive can land you right in the heart of Italian wine country. Go and enjoy it will easily be one of your favorites too!

Chris T.

Yelp
Great wine. Amazing staff. Best place to get away from it all in the gorge Outside seating all year round- even with Covid it's still a wonderful place to hang out We love their wines- they are me at for drinking now, not for aging for 10 years.

Angela R.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this winery knowing the maker is from Italy . But honestly the wine lacked in quality the flights are cheap for a reason .... The actually place tho is really cute and we got a cabana that sat right on the vineyard. But if you want good quality wine while visiting hood river it only take a 10 min drive to go over the bridge to Washington to get wine there
