"Before the pandemic hit, Marco Polo was one of the most interesting new spots in town, serving coastal Italian food and some seriously good handmade pastas on a lush pool deck. They’re back open with poolside dining in Silver Lake. Reserve here." - brett keating
"Marco Polo is the kind of all-purpose hotel restaurant that doesn’t really exist anywhere else in Silver Lake. Starting at 8am, you can walk in for a plate of french toast or cacio e pepe egg scramble with bacon and potatoes. The food is solid, but it’s not doing any miracles—we mostly suggest coming here when you want a sunny patio to have an outdoor breakfast meeting on the Eastside." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, nikko duren
"The number of outdoor spots in Silver Lake where you can have a low-key drink and a bite to eat is basically zero. Except for Marco Polo. This seafood-focused Italian spot is an ideal place to grab a cocktail, eat some pasta, and sit outside - we recommend the Ginepro Rucola, a refreshing gin, lime, and arugula cocktail that is all we want to drink this summer, and a bowl of the linguini vongole, loaded with clams and high-quality EVOO. Get ready to sneak out of work early on Fridays to beat the crowd." - brant cox, kat hong, brett keating
"If your preferred vision of brunch includes sunbathing by the pool, perhaps it’s time to book a reservation at Marco Polo. The sunny Mediterranean/seafood/Italian-ish (there’s a lot going on here) restaurant is attached to the Silver Lake Pool & Inn and is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon while pretending you’re in Naples and chugging Aperol spritzes. Their brunch menu is short and sweet, packed with caprese bruschetta, Italian sausage paired with hash browns, and oysters served on the half shell." - brant cox, kat hong, brett keating
"It’s widely known that there aren’t many great hotel options in the Los Feliz/Silver Lake/Echo Park area, which makes the Silver Lake Pool & Inn—and its pool bar, Marco Polo—even more of a destination. The two-floored space consists of a full restaurant at street level and a pool area up on the roof. The pool is technically for hotel guests only, but if you go during an off time and ask nicely, you’ll be sitting poolside with an afternoon spritz in no time." - brant cox
