First I’d like to thank Marco Polo Ristorante for their absolutely excellent service in the catering hall for my daughter’s 1st birthday party. From start to finish, the planning, the service, the food, they went above and beyond to make sure it was everything we wanted and more. Their staff are top tier, the food is another level, fine imported ingredients and house made fresh meals. Our guests truly could not stop raving about the food. They gladly worked with us to make sure we had a variety of the things our guests would love. The staff tireless worked to clear tables, check on guests & made us feel like they were a part of our special day. Let’s be honest, it’s not everyday you can feel this way when hosting a large 100 person party these days, they really set a bar for excellence. So much so that I couldn’t wait to go back and dine at their restaurant on the 1st floor. I came back this weekend just for that for my birthday dinner. What a memorable food & dining experience. Traditional style meets elevated & modern. Not your average Italian menu, but captures the essence of the traditional cuisine. Once again, impeccable service, make you feel as though they really value servicing their guests. I can’t say enough great things. Special thank you to Marco for picking an excellent champagne & providing 5 star service. We know we will be back for more.

Me and my husband threw my daughter a baptism party in Marco Polo , it was the best decision we’ve ever made. Food was beyond expectation , cake incredible, and the service was grand ! Thank you Marco for making our dreams come true with this party !! We will be back soon 😍. (Also we totally forgot the rest of our cake and went back the next day to pick up some decorations and asked the staff if they had the left over cake and they didn’t but they made a mini cake for us to eat and enjoy all over again ! ) P.S Their Espresso Martinis and short rib pasta are beyond words.

An old school Italian restaurant with authentic dishes, delicious seafood, and yummy cocktails. Can also bring your own alcohol. Came here for my best friend's birthday dinner with family. Service was excellent.

I had the pleasure of dining at Marco Polo Restaurant upon our COO’s invite, and my Russian-speaking colleagues. We were all thoroughly impressed with the restaurant. The food was exquisite: the oysters were absolutely delicious. For my main course, I had grilled salmon which was very fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious and enjoyable meal.

Hands down, my favorite Italian restaurant anywhere. I might adjust that after I go to Italy, but I'm not so sure. Everything about this place is perfect. If you've ever watched the movie, Moonstruck, and saw the local Italian restaurant in the film, you'll feel like that at Marco Polo. Although Moonstruck was filmed one neighborhood away and the restaurant scenes are not Marco Polo, the feeling is very similar. I love this place.

This family-owned gem has been serving authentic Italian cuisine for 42 years, and every dish is a testament to tradition and passion. From the warm welcome to the cozy, old-school ambiance, the experience is as comforting as the food. Beyond the delicious traditional food, the service is exceptional—attentive, friendly, and full of heart. Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, you’re treated like family. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Brooklyn! It is truly a delight. I always feel welcomed as if I am at home, making it a remarkable experience. The entire team go above and beyond to make the dining experience special. The food is phenomenal, the service is spectacular, the ambiance is marvelous, culminating into a grand experience. Highly recommended! Believe me your experience will exceed all your expectations!

Had a surprisingly delicious and well-attended meal here. Husband said was the best lasagna he’s ever had. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. I had the red wine fettuccine that gets tossed in a Parmesan wheel which was fun and very good. Dessert was also good and I don’t usually like cheesecake! But again it tasted fresh, homemade, authentic. Nice staff too! Classic Carroll Gardens spot. Glad we finally tried it!

Time for an update. Since my last review, been here numerous times--birthdays, holidays, introduced a friend, just because or no reason at all. When you dine at Marco Polo, it makes me feel at home and nostalgic. We recently enjoyed a delicious Christmas Eve dinner that exceeded expectations. The wait staff was knowledgeable to answer any questions and accommodating to substitute pasta instead of vegetables. Who doesn't love pasta? And BTW, they just happen to make the best Aperol Spritz. For starters, the seafood salad never disappoints as it was loaded with delicious Octopus, Shrimp and Calamari while the Hot Antipasto offered a perfect balance as the companion selection to accompany the seafood salad. We wished the hot antipasto came in twos for some of the pieces we had to cut in half but all good. The Codfish Livornese was really good and filling. Prepared excellently and smothered in a tomato sauce with a side of pasta. We had to take the rest home to allow room for dessert. The dessert happened to be Rainbow Gelato. Decadent and delicious with signature Rainbow Cookie to top it off. We wrapped things up by having a nightcap with the owner, Joe--always pleasant and hospitable (as is his son Marco, namesake of the restaurant). Marco Polo--keep doing what you do and we will keep returning. Solid.

My wife and I had a most excellent lunch at Maro Polo. We were brought to a inside table but it was the outer part that was inclosed and the nearest table was more than 6 feet apart was we were comfortable with that. This restaurant has been around for a long time. My wife used to go with her father 30 years ago. But the menu is as modern as could be. The staff is very hospitable and the food came out fast. We decided to share since it was lunch. First a stuffed zucchini flower. Lightly breaded with mozzarella cheese inside second a lovely grilled peach salad with Gorgonzola and walnuts and finally we shared a grilled Bronzino which was perfectly cooked. We ended up taking our dessert home cause of Time constraints. It was a nice arrangement of fruit. We appreciate it that the restaurant, would have fruit for dessert. I'm no longer able to have sugar or chocolate so it was a nice treat. Thank you so much to the Maître d'

We had a delightful birthday dinner at Marco Polo last night. The food? Delicious. The service? Fast and friendly. But the real showstopper? A private wedding anniversary party that spilled out of the main dining room like a confetti cannon--blessing the rest of the patrons with its joyful chaos. The entire restaurant turned into one big celebration, with live music and vocals that made it feel like we were all part of the family. Honestly, I felt as if I should have brought gift for the happy couple--because at that point, I felt like I was part of the festivities! The show wrapped up with the Lou Monte classic - Luna Mezzo Mare. The Chef/Owner bid us a thank you and good night at the door.

My fiance and I always loved coming here when we lived in the area. We recently moved away and drove over an hour here on Valentine's Day because the food is THAT good. The artichokes in pesto Aoli and veal parm were to die for !! We also wanted to get our usual dish- the red wine pasta, however it was not on the Valentine's Day menu. The staff and Chef Marco were so kind and made it for us anyway. The food staff and service are all 10/10!

Food fantastic service impeccable lovely ambience. There was a fiftieth anniversary party going on so there was added entertainment of a dj and piano playing and singing. Unexpected and a little loud but fun. Highly recommend.

Exceptional service. Attentive staff without intrusive interruptions like so many other restaurants. Every course exceeded the previous. (Ask to be seated with Gloria, for an elegant dining experience) They are famous for this dish prepared with precision table side but don't miss out on the specials, they are exceptional.

Nice cozy spot with really solid food. Oysters rockefeller were creamy and delicious, and I loved their vongole pasta. The linguine itself was cooked perfectly al dente. Service was excellent as well. Very prompt and attentive. Loved the experience! Will definitely be back.

The food and services were great. I ordered the Ravioli with lamb and mushrooms. My husband had pasta con sarda and we also shared a beer salad and baked eggplant. The ambience is beautiful every table was decorated with pink flowers. I highly recommend this place.

Marco Polo is an old school Italian restaurant that underwent some changes a few years ago. Those changes appear to have worn off. I stopped in to grab some dinner, and I was disappointed. My Tito's and soda was well Vodka and flat soda. A special of Angel Hair pasta with mixed seafood was a mushy mess. A glass of Super Tuscan red was very good. Overall a mediocre experience. Thank U next!

Ordered steak frites and the creamed spinach has bacon, realized after we ate it. Pointed it out and waiter said it's not in it but a few pieces got in. Dangerous for people with allergies because they don't seem to care about cross contamination. Don't go if you have allergies or don't want certain things in your food because it will be in there - surprise!

I would give 3.5 stars for the food but the overall experience is great. The menu for large parties is different from the standard menu, so some of the dishes featured and we saw come out for big tables we couldn't order. We ordered the frito misto and the calamari was perfectly cooked but the batter was not crispy, the shrimp was awesome. The side sauce was missing salt. The Caesar salad was delicious but I thought it could have had a few more croutons. The pasta with pistachio pesto was perfect, al dente, delicious sauce, shrimp cooked exactly right. The pasta special in the wine sauce was a bit overcooked but the sauce was delicious and the cheese rounded it out.

I love this place! Super relaxed, gorgeous inside and great outdoor seating when the weather is nice! I always get their gnocchi, it's soft, fluffy with tons of flavor. Staff is always friendly, as well as it's always super clean including the bathrooms!

We stopped by walking through Brooklyn. We had our dogs but someone in our group wanted Prosecco. I am amazed at how well they treated us. Put together a table or side, went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable, let us sample their newest cocktail... Even our appetizers were outstanding. There is a reason restaurant last for 40 years, these guys know the secret.

10/10. BEST ESPRESSO MARTINIS I've ever had. I genuinely crave their espresso martinis. The food is great here too. They have some of the best gluten free pasta I've ever had and cook a lot of their food in olive oil instead of butter so it is great for people with gluten and dairy allergies. The ambiance is beautiful. It's a great spot for a date night and special occasion too. The owner and chef is very kind and friendly. The hostess, wait staff, and bar tenders are great too.

This is based on takeout I got from Marco Polo. I've never eaten in the restaurant. I've walked past them dozens of times and have always been curious, so when an Italian craving hit, my bf and I decided to try them out. Delivery came quick and our mains arrived warm. Unfortunately nothing was very good. We ordered the caesar salad, penne vodka, and chicken parm. It also came with several slices of bread. The bread was SUPER STALE. At least a day old. I'm surprised they deemed that acceptable to serve. The caesar was ok, but we were not a fan of the powdered parmesan or the thick dressing with a heavy anchovy flavor. The cheese on the chicken parm tasted store bought. The pastas were edible. I really believe that you get what you pay for. Just a couple nights prior we went to another Italian restaurant, had a phenomenal meal, and paid the exact same price as we did for this takeout. Same amount of food. We are willing to pay for quality. If Marco Polo charged 1/2 the price, or even 2/3 the price, then my expectations would have been been lowered and the quality would have made sense. But something just isn't adding up here.

I brought my family to Marco Polo to share a Thanksgiving meal. I had made reservations and waited in line like everyone else. I was at the front counter with my family when someone with their family walked through the door the manager came over walked around us, smiled at the man and proceeded to seat his family. I was not in a rush, I had no problem waiting in line, but the sheer lack of respect for my family placed a damper on our Thanksgiving dinner. The food was pretty good unfortunately the portions were very small. It's clear this restaurant is focused on padding its bottom line. They couldn't even bring us over a second piece of bread. With all of the choices available in Brooklyn, this place has seen better days and needs a complete interior renovation.

Was with a friend last week and still can't believe how disappointing the food was. If the food is better for dinner they should not open for lunch. There was a cocktail menu so we decided to try expresso martinis. The cocktail tasted like instant powdered expresso was used. We decided a bottle of wine would be better. The menu is extremely limited and no traditional entrees with tomato sauce. If you only enjoy Northern Italian then you might find something . When you say you're taking someone for Italian food there should be at least one parmigiana and a pasta with a plain or meat sauce. No sauce on menu or specials. The backed clams were flat tasting and breadcrumbs were more like a batter. Calamari was rubbery tasted baked not fried! Our server was very nice and accommodating. The ambiance wad to be expected. I definitely would not return.

Came here for a work lunch. I had salmon with mashed potatoes. It was good. The service was also good.What makes me hesitant to come back was the parking. It took me almost 2 hours to find a spot.

My best friend, her husband, and I walked into Marco Polo for dinner the other week. Since it was more of a spontaneous decision and we hadn't planned on eating out, we were all dressed very casually in jeans and t-shirts... to which the waitstaff looked us up and down disapprovingly. Yes, it's a nice restaurant but not "upscale" by any means. Our waitress was a bit clumsy, spilling water when filling our glasses. She also gave us an attitude for not ordering alcoholic beverages? I'm aware that's how many servers get the bulk of their tips, but calm down and stop being so pushy about it. The seared scallops were perfectly buttery, served over a delicious black risotto. The "garlic chips" were a bit unnecessary, though. I'm sure they were added for texture, but instead gives a burnt flavor and unpleasant stickiness to your teeth. And of course they were trying to rush us out with a too-early check by the end - it wasn't even busy, nor were they closing soon. I would not recommend based on customer service alone.

Fantastic hidden spot. Came here on two separate occasions a few months apart and the wait staff remembered me and my girlfriend as well as remembering our dinner order. Ambiance is great and I'll definitely be going back more often now that I've moved to the area

Went here for my birthday and the experience was excellent. The service was great and we were actually served by multiple servers; we were never ignored or forced to wait. The atmosphere was a little noisy and not intimate, but that's only because we were seated in between two big parties. For drinks, I got the basil martini, which was just as refreshing as it sounds, and a glass of pinot grigio. My partner got a glass of sauvignon blanc. We got oysters to start and honestly, I've never gotten cheaper oysters anywhere else that still taste pretty good. I then got the lobster ravioli, which was great and rich in lobster flavor, and my partner got the calamarata, which was pretty good albeit a little cold. Overall, definitely recommend!!!

My mother was drawn to Marco Polo's famous "Fettuccine Al Vino Rosso". With this dish, patrons can witness the intriguing display of their fettuccine being tossed on a parmigiana wheel! Unfortunately for us, the restaurant was no longer offering the display due to health and sanitary concerns in correlation with the recent COVID-19 food policies. She was still able to order the dish, nevertheless. While the food was delicious, our dining experience there was not the best. Our dining experience and expectations with Marco Polo were not tarnished by their inability to use the parmigiana wheel, but because of their staffs lack of regard for retaining professionalism while on the job! Our dinner was disrupted by an argument between staff members that included the exchange of vulgar language and slurs. Regardless whether we were the only two patrons dining at this seemingly "fine" establishment, this is not the proper way for employees to act while on the job! While our young server apologized profusely for the actions of his associates, any concerns between staff members should have been taken away from the dining areas, or taken directly with the manager in an orderly and professional matter. Unfortunately, their tones and word choices interrupted our lovely evening and lowered our appetites and appeal for the resturant and our meals.

This is my go to place for Italian spot in Carrol Gardens. Quality food and service are a staple of this place. I highly recommend getting the cheese wheel pasta dish which involves them coming to the table with a 30 inch cheese block which which they marinate the pasta noodles in before serving it to you (So freaking cool!!).

This restaurant is excellent. I had my daughters sweet 16 party back in February 2022 excellent service & ambience i scheduled to have Christmas Eve dinner with my family as well i love it highly recommend it a must try

As you can see I rarely post unless I find an extraordinary reason to opine. Well now that prodigal son Chef Marcos has returned the food has spiked to new taste bud heights! Try the fish branzino fish dish, the linguine alle vongole with Manila clams, and of course the specials are truly special. This restaurant will be be my go to place. Oh great happy hour for the early birds

I was pleasantly surprised and totally satisfied with this place. Me and my lover came here after seeing a movie. We was just enjoying the day while walking around and saw this place. From the outside all the windows and clean fresh look just drew us in. Of course once inside we was not disappointed. The interior was clean and very bright and some how a touch relaxing. The wait staff was all the way upscale and on point them boys know how to take care of a diner A+. They were friendly, quick, and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. From start to finish the food was delicious and presented so well. Simple but elegant. The homemade mozzarella wrap prosciutto was heaven. I got the grill whole prawn scampi and my lover got the salmon both was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We got the creme brulee for dessert....yummy We will be back!!!

Delicious food and fantastic service at this upscale Brooklyn Italian spot. A nice wine list and good stiff drinks. Fried artichokes, oysters Rockefeller, and burrata with prosciutto for appetizers were all excellent. Burrata was the winner. The house pasta made in the cheese wheel was amazing, but the entrees were all excellent. Our waiter was friendly and professional as was the entire staff. Tiramiau, affogato, creme brule, and chocolate mouse all made in house and all were great.

We had discovered Marco Polo first in the late 80's, and it became our go-to restaurant for delicious food and homey decor. About ten years ago, it changed owners, chefs, and decor. It became pedestrian, loud, and "trendy". We stopped going and found other restaurants to go to. Last week we needed a restaurant close by, so decided to try Marco Polo again. IT WAS DEVINE! The recipes were back to the good food from 30 years ago, the waters were attentive and drinks and food were served in a timely manner with charming wait staff. The noise level had decreased so it had become again, the comfortable dining experience that a fine restaurant should be. We were very pleased, and went back to make sure that it was not a fluke. It wasn't. From salad to dessert, the food was excellent. May we urge you to try Marco Polo again. You won't be disappointed.

A tried and true Brooklyn institution. Noone else does it like Marco Polo.

Good solid italian, very flexible for what you want, appetizer size pastas, eating family style. Great standard, will keep coming back !!!

It was one of the best services I had in quite a while. The food was great .We got seated right away it was my daughter's graduation. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be back.

Marco Polo was the third place in Carrol Gardens that my boyfriend and I tried to walk into on a Saturday night without having reservations. Our crime of carelessness was quickly punished by this restaurant's food quality. I know that I'm totally looking a gift horse in the mouth with this one, but the complimentary bread was not fresh or even Italian for that matter. Stale, presliced loaf you'd find in any grocery store. And what's with the bottle of olive oil that was placed next to it?! I'm talking a plain grocery store bottle with a generic label still on it that you would find in your own kitchen. The veal meatballs were by far the best part of the meal, but by no means were they great - dry and bland, but totally edible once I added some salt and red pepper to these. My request for salt and red pepper was greeted with raised eyebrows and utter confusion. Now I take pride in not being a picky eater, but as I took a bite of the scallop from the scallop and black rice risotto entree, I had to spit it out (apologies for painting that image in your mind) - rubbery, super fishy (which of course means they were not fresh), and the amount of salt was off the charts. As for the black rice risotto - also super salty, tough and strategically spread out very thinly on a large plate to give the meal an appearance of a larger meal than it actually was. The only good thing to say about this dish is that it was quickly taken away from our table and removed from our bill upon expressing our dissatisfaction. We paid out $65 dollar bill having consumed nothing but two drinks and two meatballs each and ran out of the place hungry. Absolutely terrible. There are much better Italian spots in this neighborhood.

So, first of all, I walk into this place at 1PM on a summer day, and it is hot and humid out. This restaurant is well air conditioned and just a peach to be inside with the heat. I sit at the bar waiting for my friend, and Antonio as gracious as he is, asks me if I would like I drink. Very knowledgeable, very personable, and very, very kind. He has the kind of attitude that just exudes excellence in everything he does. Speaking of Antonio, he also had a great nose for wine pairings, so if you're in for the full experience, this man will have you taken care of. The whole place is very clean, and I watched Antonio give personal lessons about how waiters/waitresses should setup and handle a table, which I took great admiration to. I ordered a half dozen blue point oysters, which, my goodness, were perfect. and the associated accoutrement were just....beyond delicious. I believe it was, pickled red onion, a cocktail sauce, and a mild aioli. all fantastic enhancers of the dish. I also ordered the stuffed zucchini flowers, which were just out of this world delicious. The amount of care that went into flavoring those to leave me wanting more after every bite, perfecto. My friend ordered the rack of lamb, which for lack of his perspective, was devoured. Myself, I ordered a special of veal over polenta. I never order veal, I would say I was almost egged on to order it from an outside influence, but, man, the way this was slow braised, and just given so much care....I cannot speak highly enough about it. Overall, the restaurant showed a lot of care in the nuances, i.e. cleanliness, waiter manners, timeliness of responding to our table, and also, our table cloth was cleaned between courses, which I have the utmost respect for. The neighborhood the restaurant is in is super friendly, and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. Also, italy scored 2 goals while I was there so people were pretty hype. a great experience all around. Thank you.

Close friends invited us for dinner and chose this location. We enjoyed the ambiance as it wasn't noisy and we can enjoy our conversation. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and calamari as appetizers. I had the oso buco and my wife had the rainbow trout. Both plates were delicious.

After a night out at the museum, wanted to linger in Brooklyn for a bit longer. Driving in his old stomping grounds for a few minutes, my husband suggested dining here. The restaurant has a pleasant dining room and woodsy facade and red, large tulip and rose ceiling lamps, adding a soft touch. Started with juicy Clams Oreganata. Had my eyes on the Basil Martini that had the perfect balance of vodka, sweet and savory. Our server, checked on me after I got my cocktail, just to make sure it was prepared to perfection. Though it was slightly undercooked, my Risotto had the right blend of Parmesan creaminess. Risotto was just that- it was the simplicity of it that made it naturally phenomenal. Dessert was a no-brainier for me, and went for the Vanilla and Dark Chocolate Mousse- a little different for my likes. Marco Polo is a nice Italian restaurant that'll work for a number of occasions: a large group, sitting at the bar, a quick nosh, family dinner or a romantic night out. Service was relaxed and very personal, which I took a high liking to. Enjoyed it!

Yes there are lots of "new" Italian restaurants around now, but if you want half a menu devoted to pizza (and I love pizza). But to eat as one would in Rome, there are fewer choices and Marco Polo is the only one in the area.

An absolutely wonderful gem: contemporary Italian cuisine with old world service. Our party of four were taken aback with the very reasonable menu pricing, especially during this period of the escalating cost of dining out. At an adjacent table were a group of well-dressed Italian-speaking diners. We asked our waiter who they were and he said they came in front Manhattan and were referred by the Italian Consulate. That's a pretty good endorsement! If you want something less formal, go Enoteca on Court next door, the sister operation.

So disappointed with the Bait and Switch at Marco Polo. We had lived in Cobble Hill when Marco Polo was first established in 1983. We had gone there often. For her birthday celebration, our daughter sought out the Marco Polo lunch menu. We were having lunch at 1:00 pm. When we arrived we were told that there had never been a lunch menu even though it was fully publicized on their own web site. Sure, the food was good but we paid double the price. As a proud Brooklyn Italian American, I am absolutely ashamed of the bait and switch practiced by Marco Polo. We were taken. Perhaps we looked like tourists but anyone looking at my face would have taken me as a local. if the owner would like to contact me, I am all ears. Until then, I will continue to tell it like it is, bait and switch By Marco Polo.

I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. Just visited with my fiancée for our anniversary dinner, and it's as good as its always been. We shared veal meatballs, I had the tagliatelle, she had the fettuccine. It was delicious. And the staff is attentive and friendly. I am in awe reading some of the negative reviews by people who wouldn't know good Italian food if they were served it by an elite chef. Take it from a guy who's been eating home cooked Italian meals his whole life and has sampled many quality restaurants here in the city, this place is the real deal. The spot is more old school, less hipster and hype than a lot of spots popping up in CG, but it's a neighborhood staple. Definitely worth visiting

I love Marco Polo! My family has been coming here for many years and when there is a celebration to be had we come here! Everyone from the hostess to the servers will make you feel right at home and like a beloved guest. The service is top notch and they pay very close attention to every detail to make sure everyone at the table is pleased. Food-Amazing! Service-Top notch! Atmosphere-Why go elsewhere?

This place been around since forever. I was born and raised in this neighborhood and the food here is great. If u want to impress your date go to Marco Polo. The reason it does not get a five is because the menu is very limited.

First time here last Saturday even tho we've been in Brooklyn 7 or 8 years now. My only regret is it took us this long to try it Great looking place with super efficient and friendly staff working their tails off to do a terrific job of serving excellent food and keeping every one safe and comfortable. The 3 of us all ordered different appetizers and entrees so we got to taste pretty much everything. Great specials - yellow fin tuna was excellent - but we especially loved the traditional red sauce Italian favorites. Chicken parm was definitely worth going back for. Kudos to them for doing such job in trying times.
