Nasty bottom of barrel attitude workers who have no place in the Farmer’s market. Overpriced meat with arrogant butchers made a perfect recipe for a pile of garbage. The less than dirt that you see in the picture was so disrespectful to everyone who were waiting including myself when I did nothing to him. Right on the other side is a better place that you can buy.

I went by early Wednesday to buy a steak and did not know which one to buy. It was a little busy so I patiently waited and the gentlemen took the time to explain to me the different options and even offered me one he was running a special on. I followed his cooking instructions and had one of the best steaks I have made! The quality is the best in the city and will be returning!

The short ribs I got from there smelled off and tasted similarly off. Didn’t make me sick though. The grassfed steak was okay, but didn’t taste good in my opinion. Wouldn’t get meat from them again.

Louie had amazing customer service. He helped me with an online order I placed over a month ago. As well as printed out my order & explained how my order was ready the day I picked for pick up. He also stayed on the phone with me until I found the place. Amazing customer service thank you again for going out your way to help me.

I’ve been going to this butcher for about 10 years. The quality is the best I can find and the prices are very comparable to grocery stores. It’s really a great deal when you consider the quality is so much better. The staff are all very knowledgeable.

I miss being able to shop here the quality is so fantastic and everyone was helpful and knowledgeable. When I fly home we stop by and grab something to cook up. I wish we had this in North Carolina.

This place is hands down my go-to place for beef. Not only top quality products but the staff of highly skilled butchers also have spot-on tips on how to perfectly cook your purchase. I go there weekly, for years. Highly recommend!

Omgsh where do I even begin?! The price is great and they have such a wide variety! From free range, organic chicken to turkeys and even rabbits!!! Last but certainly not least- It feels good knowing that I am feeding my family good quality product.

Marconda's is definitely about the product and not the service. I am very appreciative that they have items that are hard to find, even in a city like L.A. They're my first stop when I'm trying to get hold of cajun meats like tasso, andouille sausage, and boudain sausage. I've always. been happy with their chicken, ground beam, ham shanks, Italian sausage, and other items. Their website can be a bit cumbersome, and deliveries have been hit and miss (recently, I only found out upon delivery that they didn't have some of the items I ordered. I was ultimately reimbursed after calling them, but it was an inconvenience and put me in a tough spot for a dinner party recipe I was putting together that day. The whole thing was strange in that the website indicated the items were in stock, I paid for them, paid the delivery charge thinking it was worth it given the entire order, and then was charged for something I didn't even receive. Additionally, they're pretty brusque in person when you're there ordering, but maybe some people like that sort of tough vibe in an environment like Farmer's Market. The place has a classic feel, and sometimes that's just part of the deal with those kind of special/unusual institutions, I suppose. They typically deliver meat in a nice tote bag that you can keep, so I was surprised on my most recent in-person visit when I was told by the employee that he would have to ask the manager if it was OK for him to give me one to take my order home when I requested that. He did ask, and said it was OK as long as I paid an extra dollar for it. A small matter, but still felt a bit odd. I'll not look to Marconda's for pleasantries or attentive service (I wouldn't ask any of the butchers for recommendations, etc. as I do at other storeds/butcher shops), but their unusual and quality meats will keep probably keep me coming back as long as there aren't too many other options.

Marconda's is my favorite butcher in Los Angeles. The quality of their meats is unmatched by anyone else. Some of my favorites are the Waygu New York Strip, Bone in Ribeye, and the Flank Steak. I also have been loving their Danish Bacon. The steaks are all very tender and have the best flavor.

Love Marcinda's meat and Puritan Poultry.. both carry the best meats.. you can not go wrong buying anything there.. steaks are tasty and chicken tastes like French chickens. Delicious! I love Rene but you can all anybody to find you the best meat and they are all very helpful

I have been a huge fan of Marconda Meats and Puritan Poultry for as long as I can remember. The quality of their products and the knowledge the whole team of butchers have about them is gold standard level - platinum even. Not only can they tell you all about the product, I have received fantastic prep tips from them on how to cook/serve. And, occasionally, they'll roast a chicken for me (it's rare but they will if you ask nicely!). Although I have moved out to Moorpark, I will continue to drive in to the best butcher shop in the universe!! Highly recommend!

Hands down - one of the best butchers in LA! I used to go to Huntington Meats but their quality started to drop, I gave Marconda a shot and it has been history since. Tomahawk steaks are great. Chicken can be found down the way with great quality. Make sure to check out the lamb shanks.

If you want to get the TOP QUALITY meats to cook or grill look no further! This small family-owned and operated butcher shop provides top-quality proteins. The cuts they will provide you with leave you blown away. From there Danish Bacon to top-quality steaks and the best tri tip cut EVER!! They even have the hard-to-find short ribs aka Dino Bones. Definitely check this place out and if you take the dive and buy something, Tyler or one of his guys will give you some awesome pointers on how to cook it.

Tried Wagyu for the first time in my life and it was the best piece of meat I've ever had. They were super knowledgeable about every cut and had great recommendations based on preferences.

I typically use the other butcher in the Farmer's Market when I need to buy meat. However, decided to give Marconda's Meats a shot on Sunday. I needed a 2 lb. piece of pork butt for a recipe (roast pork to be used in egg foo young). The nice guy at the counter pointed to a piece that weighed 6 lb. I told him I'll take a third of that, my recipe required a 2 lb. piece. He then proceeded to cut away a slab and carefully trimmed away the fat, both external and somewhat internal to the piece. My perfectly trimmed piece weighed 2.02 lb. Wow. Somehow I suspect he has done this before. He knew exactly what I wanted and handed over a perfect 2 lb. pork butt for my recipe. What surprised me was the price of $4.99 lb. for fully trimmed pork butt. This is competitive with Ralph's or Von's. Here I got 5 star service from a professional butcher, very fresh meat nice wrapped at a fantastic price. Could not be more pleased. I did attach a picture of the finished product, all ready for my roast pork egg foo young this evening.

I have been coming here for my prime rib for just about a year. High quality meat with little fuss, all at a good price. I try to avoid the weekends because the grove traffic is a pain in the butt, but I've never been there when they didn't have what I needed. Friendly staff who take pride in giving you top quality. Highly recommended.

Old Farmers Market. The charm about this spot is the environment and I think how long they have been here. It's like visiting your local butcher and you get a little piece of an old, vintage feeling for a moment if you tune everything out around you. Friendly staff, this is my cousins old time butcher. He has since moved and came down to visit Easter so we stopped by here and he picked up A LOT zig meat to take home with him to NV. They slabbed two tomahawks on the weighter and I swear I never seen a cut so big. It was literally almost close to the size of my whole leg. (I'm short). The meat looked red, like a nice freshness. They packed my cousins meat up and bagged it up with ice and everything. I don't eat red meat but I have heard they got really good freshness. My cousin only messes with the best. We parked in quick 30 min parking and was in n out.

I love this place. We have been ordering meat from Marconda's for the last year. They deliver which is excellent. They also arrive at the time they say they will which is unusual. The meat and poultry has been excellent. The difference between grocery store meat and Marconda's is huge. I made stew with their meat and the beef stayed delicious and tender throughout all the cooking and reheating. They have the best brisket as well. You can buy chicken breasts with bone and skin on it which works very well for some of my recipes. The bone broth they carry is wonderful both the chicken and the beef. My only sadness that they are out of the Danish bacon every time I go to order it. So happy with this place.

Love these guys!!! I've been having trouble finding bone marrow in LA and I'm seriously so glad I randomly called to ask if they had any. Not only do they have a ton but the quality is superb! Highly recommend!

Hollywood has 4000 Thai restaurants but we can't get a decent butcher. This is this only place I could find a smoked ham hock! I drove over 30 minutes round-trip, but I'm so grateful they exist. Thank you

This is my second visit to Marcondas. I used to buy my meat and poultry at the local grocery store (Ralph's), mainly because I didn't really know any better. After a bad experience from the major chain supermarket about a month ago, my partner bought me some meat from Marcondas. The quality of the meet was superb and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the prices were not that much more than the supermarket. After having a good experience I decided to come back tonight to buy a pound of ground beef. I was greeted by a woman named Carmen who kindly took my order and rung me up. The meat comes wrapped in butcher paper (optional plastic bag should you prefer as well), and the quality of the meats and service are top notch. All in all, one can expect to pay almost a dollar more a pound or so for most meats here (unless they are running a good sale, at which the prices are cheaper or comparable at the very least) however the quality and flavor of the meats cannot be matched by the average food chain giants. Will I be back? Yes. I will continue to shop here for my meats as long as the quality stays the same and I am greeted with the same great service. I choose to support local businesses whenever I can, and I am happy to see that I have a great butcher within walking distance. I bought a pound of grass fed, antibiotic free ground beef for $6.98/lb. what a deal. Old school butcher style means paper packaging, not automated styrofoam and plastic wrapped meats. Win win.

Their meatloaf is absolutely delicious, we buy it, take it home, and bake it in the oven for an hour and 45 minutes. They sell it in 1/2 and full pound portions

I have had this place bookmarked for the longest time. I decided to cook prime roast for my friends for friendsgiving. This was me coming out of my comfort zone and trying something new. Parking: the parking situation was horrendous. Not just because they charge for parking, but because it was PACKED. Expect to have a line on busy holidays or weekends. I purchased from Marconda's and if they didn't offer me validation for parking, I wouldn't have known to ask. Very thankful for that. Meats: they had a large variety of meats from sausages, ground beef, and steaks. Since I was buying for a group of people, the manager showed me the rack of prime cut prime steak for $25ish a pound. The regular non-prime was $18 ish a pound. I had two fears: 1) the hefty price I was going to pay for prime meat 2) ruining a perfectly great steak by overcooking. Although the couple of dollars difference per ounce was very tempting, I decided to get 4 bones for my group of 9 people. I think that 3 bones would have been perfect because I ended up having extras. They say 2 person per bone is good. I guess my friends and I don't eat alot.... just fyi. Everything came out to be about $250. The MOST I have ever spent for meat but I figured that I would spend almost that much at LAWRY'S for two people. I had asked the butcher to cut off the bones and then tie them together again with string; a little trick i learned online. It was located in the farmer's market of the plaza. If I had more time I would totally check out the rest of the market. If youre willing to spend $$$ on high quality meat, I would suggest to come here. Oh and my prime rib came out perfectly pink and delicious! All prime roast cooking enthusiasts advised me to generously season my prime rib with kosher salt, which I did, but I think for next time I will hold back a little. There was so much flavor in the meat that the extra salt was a little bit too much for my liking. Will most likely come back again once my wallet recovers.

I had never been to a butcher's shop before, so I was a little intimidated walking up to the counter. They have a large selection, but with clear labeling on everything and genuinely kind employees, I was able to get what I needed and get out quick and easy. Then, the quality of the meat was just incredible. The only issue now is that every time I get meat from the grocery store, I'm gonna be thinking about the great cuts at Marconda's Meats!

What can I say about Marconda's I have been buying meat from them weekly when living in DTLA, now its 4 or 5 times a year as I live in Las Vegas but still stop by for the holidays. Without a doubt, by far, THE BEST butcher in LA! I got some ground beef from them and of course I noticed that it was more expensive than the stuff I get at Ralph's, but it looked good and was convenient. Then I got home and cooked it up and wow, absolutely no comparison to supermarket ground beef - fresh and so delicious. That is what you get when you buy from a real butcher. They source differently and butcher themselves. It is a difference worth paying a little more for and going out of my way to get to them. They also have the best, most interesting bacon - a Danish bacon with a subtle smokiness and sweetness that makes it so distinctive. They are the only place I have ever seen it. Closest thing was a bacon that Chalet Gourmet used to sell, but have not since it was converted to Bristol Farms over 10 years go. Finally, if you want to make the best corned beef imaginable, they have it. Unlike the big chains, they actually "corn" the beef themselves with superior spices. I make it every year now.

One of the best butchers for steak I have found and where but the famous Farmers Market on fairfax. They have been around forever and have amazing selections. Never been disappointed. Top quality and cuts with amazing flavors. They got it all. If you haven't yet it's a must. Stop by.

I used to get Marconda's delivered and always found their quality to be second to none. Unfortunately I am no longer in their delivery area but I drive over an hour to stock up when I need to. I have NEVER been disappointed with their meat or friendly service. It is well worth the trip.

During the pandemic, it seemed like the whole city bought all of the ground turkey or ground chicken that could be found anywhere. I wouldn't go out to any markets, I was only having groceries delivered, so that made it even more challenging. I was thrilled to find ground chicken at a reasonable price here! All their deliveries can be arranged thru Mercato.com, who I had never heard of til this pandemic sent me on a citywide poultry hunt. While the Mercato delivery service was fine, Marconda's products & customer service was BEYOND STELLAR. Like - the place I want to go when we can move about like normal again is HERE. Not out to eat, no - HERE. I want to meet these friendly people in person & pick my meats and poultry & walk out with a butcher paper-wrapped, high quality parcel of fresh meat. Over the past 20 years, the butchers at Marconda's have taught me my favorite aspects of the epicures experience - thank you! With amazing meat, it's a lot easier to be a rockstar on the grill. The burgers are the BEST in LA, and the prepared meatloaf makes weekday meals easy. Delivery direct for their website is so convenient and got us through shelter-in-place. Thanks, Marconda's!

I love this place, but I am beyond disappointed right now. I asked for a chicken on Tuesday and received a lovely wrapped package. I unwrapped it an hour ago and found chicken breast. On another day, maybe this wouldn't be a big deal. But on thanksgiving? It's not the end of the world, obviously, but I feel like I shouldn't have to hawk-eye the butcher to make sure I get what I asked for. Great products, but a very disappointing thanksgiving.

The signage above this stall used to be blue-ish and only says "Puritan Poultry" as it still does on the Original Farmer's Market website (http://www.farmersmarketla.com/merchant/merchantDetails/38), but now the signage is red and matches the other half of Marconda's Meats and Puritan Poultry. Marconda's is split into two stalls at the Farmer's market. The flagship counter with the impressive meat selection, band saw and freezers in the back is still at stall 514. http://www.farmersmarketla.com/merchant/merchantDetails/35 Puritan Poultry is at stall 226...kind of in the middle of it all, near the candyland and Loteria Grill. http://www.marcondas.com/location/ It's a much smaller stall featuring only the feathered varieties. Chicken chicken chicken - whole, breast/wings/thigh pieces, giblets, free range/cage free, "California grown" etc. squab, duck, quail turkey, goose, tubs of chicken fat, duck fat, processed birds, etc. After having eaten many tiny jars of chicken pate off charcuterie boards, I decided that it was about time that I try to make my own. There are tons of recipes online and it seems like you really can just take whatever the heck you want and blend it together with cooked chicken liver, refrigerate, serve with a flat piece of carb and voila! That's all there is to it. The tiny stall was manned by an Asian guy today...I've never seen an Asian butcher aside from those who work at Ranch 99. Cool. There was a tray of chicken livers swimming in chicken blood next to a tray of chicken hearts. $2.29 a pound, it says. I asked the butcher how much (volume) is 2 pounds and he says probably the entire tray and he was right! 2.01 pounds was what I brought home, blood and all. What I didn't like about Marconda's/Puritan Poultry is that I can't tell if these livers came from their free range or organic or "California-grown" chickens. California-grown could mean conventional/caged right? I asked if they have free range or organic chicken livers and he goes, "oh these?" I could be wrong but I wasn't super convinced. But, psychologically, I feel a little better buying them here than from a conventional grocery store. **UPDATE** Lou D., the owner of the Marconda Meats yelp page messaged me the following: "Just wanted to let you know that None of our California grown chickens have been caged. Sometimes we get Organic and sometimes we can not on the livers. On all of our regular chicken parts and whole fryers that we sell cut up or whole they are always California grown, Antibiotic free from birth, hormone free, from birth as well as never caged, humanely raised and sustainably farmed." **end of update** Apparently chicken livers only really seem to last a day so once you buy, you better prepare it the same day. The livers I got seem to be in good color - some looked like uni, which worried me but as long as they are not green or slimey, I guess I should be OK. My chicken pate turned out great! It has carmelized onions, slow roasted garlic, salt, fresh cracked pepper, rendered fat from marrow bones (I was also roasting marrow bones tonight), and brandy. Nice, smooth and spreadable, and under $5 for about 10 jars. I would buy from here again...even though parking sucks and is always crowded, I most likely will get more organic chicken parts that I can't get from Costco.

I've been trying to buy a brisket for weeks to no avail. Yesterday I searched for 'butchers' and who might deliver. There was Marconda! Thank you, Lou, for your help - AND ., you're correct . BEST brisket ( and I've made a lot ) EVER! I'll be back

For 50+ years at least, packages of Marconda's meats have been in our freezer ready to feed me and our family for any of our various needs. Whether it's a fresh leg of lamb or some of the best wagyu prime you will find in the city, or a Thanksgiving turkey - look no further than Marcondas. Simply the best.

We've had the best meals recently with porterhouse steaks, New York steaks, chicken, pork chops, and tonight some amazing pork ribs. Everything has been so fresh and tender and just the BEST quality! Thank you for your commitment to your craft and quality and exceptional service!!

Our plans for a quarantine T'giving brought us here last yr (aka the yr that will not be named) for our Turkey recipe. This was my 1st time making the entree and these guys couldn't have been more helpful in making sure I had everything I needed with a side of advice on how NOT to mess it up. Great service and products all around!

Marconda's Meats is located at the ultra cool Original Farmers Market. The meats selection is plentiful. It's reminds me of the good ole days when you went down to the meat market and talked with your butcher. They told you what was fresh and cut and wrapped any meats you requested. Fairly priced but remember you get what you pay for and the quality of these meats are great! This is a must stop meat shop when visiting the Farmers Market.

The meat is good here, but my experience was really disappointing. Ordered my Thanksgiving turkey - bird was not ready for pick-up, they lost my order, then found it with the name misspelled, then sold me a bigger bird than I wanted bc they didn't have the size I ordered. All in all it took 30 min to get something other than what I ordered. Not impressed. That said, the young, non-butcher guy helping me out was cool and doing his best with a messy situation.

I happened to be by Farmers Market on friday morning and had some time to kill, I found Marconda's meats and bought some bacon and two Ribeyes for my wife for Mothers day. The Bacon was fantastic. I cooked the Ribeyes for dinner. The meat was so tender and flavorful. Probably the best steak I have ever had. I would highly recommend this place. Lou has wonderful meat.

Easy to find, had everything I needed (including quail! Which is weirdly hard to find around here, trust me) and the person behind the counter was so knowledgeable and helpful and answered my questions about which selections were best for my intended recipes. Prices were super reasonable too, I was expecting to pay a lot more. Would 100% return!

Mr. Berger knows how to serve up the best meat in the area with a smile. I used to tell my mom years before i became vegan, I was coming back as a butchers wife in my next life. I may not eat meat but if you must than you must buy the best to feed your loved ones!

Not only do they have good fresh meats, they have great customer service and that's something I truly appreciate. Marconda's Meats, for my money, is without a doubt the best place to buy any type of meat in the entirety of Los Angeles. This place is a downright staple of the farmers market. Be it pig, chicken, or cow, they have the cut of meat you want. If they dont, they'll go back to the freezer and butcher it up for you. All of the staff are super experienced and been working here a long time it seems. They are fun and make you smile with their sense of humor, something I always appropriate. In particular Lou never fails to put a smile on my face when I order from him. The meat is more expensive than at your local supermarket. However the time it takes you to go to the farmer's market (which in and of itself is super fun) and little bit of extra money is so so sooooo worth it for this meat. Seriously these are the best cuts of cow I have ever had. Ever. Everything I have taken home from this place I adore eating. Special shoutouts to the rib-eyes and flat iron steaks which just are a joy to take home and grill. I think my favorite part of Marconda's is that you can just see a steak in the case, and they will season it for you and take it over to the KBBQ place next store (for a small fee) and have it cooked on the spot. As if the market wasn't already overcrowded with food options, you can buy a specific steak and have it cooked up for you right then and there. The last time I was here I decided to finally do this. My piece of meat was so amazing that I was able to eat it with ease with a plastic fork. It blew my mind how flavorful, tender, and just downright delicious this steak was. Anyways, I really can't rave about this place enough. If you want to treat yourself to a find piece of meat, there is nowhere else you should go.

Marconda's has been a staple for our family for the past year. Their meat quality and cuts are second to none. We recently had tenderloin from Marconda's for our Christmas party. Not only was the meat some of the best we had, everyone at the party was talking about how out of the world the tenderloin was. The customer service is fantastic, the prices are fair, and we know the meat quality and cuts are always great. I recommend Marconda's to all of my friends and family. 10/10 would buy again.

These guys have been my go-to neighborhood butcher for years and I've got nothin' but love for them. They've got everything from great deals on budget cuts for the spendthrift (like spencer steaks and their delectable oven ready meat loaves - in two sizes) to fancy shmancy impress your friends cuts like whole filets, nothin' mignon about 'em, they'll even prep on the spot for a wellington. They carry all sorts of aged steaks, house made sausage, bacon and all manner of other carnivorous goodness. You can even special order whole sucking pigs. A whole pig! There's really no comparing butcher quality to what you get at the market. Had some lamb shoulder chops tonight (big and cheap!) that were absolutely amazing in a red wine balsamic reduction with some shallots and garlic. Served with a little spinach from the other FM vendor next door and some fresh fruit to round things off, and it was a restaurant quality meal for two for a bargain price. Not to mention, who doesn't love supporting small family run businesses? What are you still doing here? Go!

This Valentine's Day, I decided to be an awesome girlfriend and treat Matt B. to a steak dinner at home. (Okay, he took me to Hatfield's the following Saturday.) I found a foolproof Alton Brown recipe for pan-seared rib eyes that involved a whopping four ingredients, three of which were salt, pepper, and oil. The success of the night depended entirely on the quality of the steaks. Marconda's delivered. This little butcher shop in the Farmer's Market behind the grove gave me two beautiful steaks. The butcher was really friendly and enthusiastic, and he helped me decide on the Spencer cut rib eyes. They came in at $36 for 1.92 pounds, so not exactly cheap, but worth every penny. I did almost nothing to those wonderful slabs of meat, and they came out absolutely delicious. Lots of fat, no stringiness, so tender that our lack of steak knives was no problem. They were giant steaks, and we polished them off with relish. Though $18 per person is not cheap for a dinner at home, it is cheap for steak of that quality. Marconda's has convinced me that going out and paying $45 for an inferior steak is just not worthwhile. I know this is a conclusion that many have come to, but I've finally learned it for myself, with my own taste buds. When the craving hits for a bloody piece of meat, I'll head straight to the butcher.

We buy all our meat from their various booths at the LA FM, the quality, service and selection are always exceptional. I really appreciate how knowledgeable they are, they always know exactly what you'll need for each use case.
