The Best Beverly Hills Restaurants, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"New York City’s celebrated coastal Italian restaurant opened on the West Coast with a fetching dining room tucked along Beverly Hills’ tony Camden Drive, already home to Cipriani and Mr. Chow. Here, the same honey onyx bar welcomes diners, beckoning them either to the patio or the main dining room that feels like a billionaire’s yacht. Uni toast topped with a thin shaving of lardo or a parade of crudo tends to be the way most people start. Antipasti of grilled octopus with smoked potato or branzino tartare make way for the sizable homemade pasta, the menu’s real star. Plump, sweet ruby shrimp are studded into twisted gnochetti laced with rosemary oil while the red wine-braised octopus made famous in Manhattan gets woven into strands of slender fusilli. Most people order the Dover sole as their entrees, though steak and other seared fish options abound. A visit to Marea isn’t complete without dessert; the coconut-inflected meringue and house-spun ice creams are the highlights. Book a reservation through SevenRooms." - Matthew Kang

The Best Pasta Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"New York City’s celebrated coastal Italian restaurant has finally landed on the West Coast with a rather fetching dining room tucked along Beverly Hills’ tony Camden Drive, already home to Cipriani and Mr. Chow. Here, the same honey onyx bar welcomes diners, beckoning them either to the patio or the main dining room that feels like a billionaire’s yacht. The food might also befit a billionaire, not so much in price (the place certainly isn’t cheap), but in excellence and quality. Uni toast topped with a thin shaving of lardo or a parade of crudo tends to be the way most people start. Antipasti of grilled octopus with smoked potato or branzino tartare make way for the sizeable scratch-made pasta, which is the real star of the menu. Plump, sweet ruby shrimp are studded into twisted gnochetti laced with rosemary oil while the red wine-braised octopus made famous in Manhattan gets woven into strands of slender fusilli. One wouldn’t even notice the rice bone marrow binding the fusilli and octopus together. Most people order the Dover sole as their entrees, though steak and other seared fish options abound. A visit to Marea isn’t complete without dessert; the coconut-inflected meringue and the house-spun ice creams are the highlights. The Best Splurge-Worthy Special Occasion Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"New York’s Marea has already captured the hearts of the West Hollywood crowd with its stunning dining room and refined menu of coastal Italian classics. Diners dress up to settle into banquettes that follow the curve of the wood walls, sipping on wine between bites of caviar served with light gougères, chips, brioche, chives, and crème fraîche. Meals may start with a dozen oysters or caviar-topped bruschetta before moving into larger dishes like ricotta-filled ravioli and red wine-braised octopus served with fusilli. A 40-ounce tomahawk is enough for two, while bistecca is prepared with a grilled wagyu strip loin. Finish with a spread of desserts like lemon ricotta cream-filled bomboloni, tiramisu, or gelato. — Rebecca Roland, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest" - Eater Staff

Michael White’s Fancy Italian Santi Will Open Next Month | Eater NY

"Once considered a fancy powerhouse (part of the Altamarea Group) that White split from during the pandemic, Marea is also the restaurant where, under White’s leadership in 2012, the kitchen earned two Michelin stars." - Beth Landman

New York’s Restaurant Osteria Morini Is Closing in June | Eater NY

"After a September facelift, the group's flagship reopened with Spanish chef PJ Calapa leading the kitchen; he returned to Altamarea after helping open Ai Fiori with Michael White in 2011. Calapa works under Altamarea executive chef Lauren DeSteno, who also cooked at Marea under White. The dining experience is high-end, with crudi at $39, pasta in the $40s, and mains ranging from roughly $50 for pan-seared halibut up to $240 for a tomahawk." - Melissa McCart
