Brixton’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Brixton | Eater London

"Much violence has been done to ingredients in the name of Humble Tuscan Cookery in U.K. restaurants, but this paean to the region’s coastal hinterland and beaches carries off the tribute act with some aplomb. It’s unassuming, unmessed-with cookery — pairing mozzarella with asparagus and serving cured beef next to radish — but has the confidence needed to deliver." - Yasmin Khan

London’s Best Aperitivo Bars and Restaurants for Spritz and Snacks | Eater London

"On a nondescript corner of Brixton sits a faithful homage to Tuscany’s Maremma province. As the sun sets behind wrap-around glass, perch at the quartz-topped bar to sip and nibble through the enticing aperitivo menu, which features multiple spritzes made with Maremma’s Picabon spumante as well as herb-laced riffs on hard classics — an oregano martini. Olives, focaccia, green anchovy and artichoke crostini, and regional salumi form the spuntini on offer as ballast. Then on to… Nanban, Fish, Wings and Tings, Smoke & Salt." - Suze Olbrich

Unpretentious homely restaurant close to Brixton. Lovely well-prepared authentically-inspired and tasty food - e.g. risotto with squid and pork infused with fennel seeds. Overall outstanding experience with an excellent spirit and wine selection. Strongly recommended!

The restaurant has a lot of potential, but my experience didn’t fully meet my expectations. The positives: the staff were incredibly nice and welcoming, and the interior is charming and cosy—it's a lovely place to spend an evening. The focaccia was amazing and definitely the highlight food-wise, paired with great olive oil. That said, I found the rest of the food to be a bit underwhelming for the price. The pasta alla vodka sauce was too salty, and the pasta itself was overcooked (not al dente). The extra parmesan portion was also quite small for two people. The salumi board was decent, but not exceptional. I’d love to come back in a few months to give it another try, as the atmosphere and service were excellent, and the menu has potential.

Utterly brilliant local restaurant serving pasta and other Italian dishes from the Maremma region of Tuscany (no pizza!). The staff come with an authentic Italian care for great service and the food is as beautiful as it is tasty. Have been a couple of times now and I couldn’t recommend it more. The mains are good enough to be enjoyed as a quick lunch or a Sunday treat-meal.

The food was delicious but we were underwhelmed by the service. We were given a small table in the corner with no where to put stuff (very cold & wet night hence big coats scarves hats ) & we felt rushed. For this kind of price ( £70 each ) i think the overall experience could have been better and staff more attentive. Couldn't fault food (except for the chocolate chestnut tart which was pretty average with no hint of chestnut) We should have come away thinking about the delicious food but the cafe style service and high price means we probably won't rush back.

Lovely little italian restaurant with freshly made food. We managed to get a booking on the day, but i would book in advance. Service was really lovely. Food very decently priced. I had the fried sage butter ravioli which was lovely and fresh. However, the food needed salt, both my friend and I agreed, felt a bit awkward asking for salt as it was not provided on the table.

We stumbled across Maremma and decided to give it a go. The cocktails were good, as were the main courses. The Arancini balls were very small for £10 and the pastas were very expensive considering their size. The tiramisu was spot on however the sfogliatelle (special) was dried up and pretty disappointing. We enjoyed the meal but it felt it was a bit overpriced

Maremma offers a delightful experience with its focus on authentic Tuscan regional specialties and exceptional fresh pasta. The restaurant boasts a lively and pleasant atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for a casual dinner with friends. Its convenient location, a short walk from Herne Hill, is another plus. One crucial point for improvement: ensuring all necessary cutlery is on the table, particularly when serving hot dishes, is essential for a seamless dining experience

Yum! The pasta and risotto were great and they had this olive oil that elevated everything it touched. Fig and almond tart and honey and lavender gelato for dessert - perfect match.
