London’s Best Bakeries | London’s Best Sourdough and Croissants | Eater London

"Michelle Eshkeri’s neighbourhood bakery in East Finchley specialises in sourdough, as is so current, but her interweaving of the fermented dough into challah, babka, and cinnamon buns makes this sunlit spot an outstanding bakery. Currently operating Wednesday — Saturday, with pre-ordering wise." - James Hansen

Margot Bakery East Finchley Takes One of London’s Best Bakeries to Holloway | Eater London

"Founded in 2016 by Michelle Eshkeri, this acclaimed north London bakery is expanding into larger premises to combine production and retail while adding space for classes and events. It specialises in sourdough-leavened baking and is noted for weaving that fermented dough into Jewish sweet staples — particularly challah, babka and cinnamon buns — which, together with its often sunlit atmosphere, have made it one of the city's outstanding bakeries. The new site at 66 Georges Road occupies a former metalworks, offering the industrial scale and room needed to prove its expansion ambitions; locals will also appreciate that another sizable production bakery/restaurant is only about seven minutes away." - James Hansen

This is by far one of the best bakeries in London. I have very much tried all the ‘top tier’ bakeries and this one smashes it! They get the balance of sweetness just perfect- not sickly at all. I also love their savoury spinach pastry, marmite great too- bring on more savouries! However, their classic pain au chocolat is absolutely out of this world. I have never tasted anything like it- believe they use sourdough. To smash such a classic with a subtle twist… if you haven’t tried Margot’s and you enjoy baked goods, you haven’t lived! P.s. don’t get the focaccia unless you want to be totally unsatisfied by any other focaccia again - literally ruined every other focaccia for me, it’s probably the only one I’ll ever want to eat again P.p.s., I must say at one point the prices were crazy, and I did have to limit myself to very very occasional treats, but noticed these seem to have been reduced slightly and more comparable to other bakeries in London. I greatly appreciate that! I will be in more…

Google
This is touted as one of the best bakeries in London and now I completely understand why. The portions are generous, as are the proportions of butter used in each bake. Everything I bought was delicious and full of flavour, proper hearty baking.

The location is nice and the food is okay, although there are better places around. The worst part is the service: extremely unpleasant, and it feels like they’re doing you a favour by serving you a coffee that you’re actually paying for. I won’t be coming back. They can keep their cheap coffee at an expensive price.

I got an almond croissant and a piece of babka. They are absolutely amazing. Perfect texture, crispiness, and moisture in the bread. If I ever come near this area again, I’ll definitely revisit and try more stuff. Sadly, it doesn’t allow laptop use, so I couldn’t sit down and work for a bit.

These guys to l do vienoisserie right!! Excellent bakery and variety. I've been here a few times and whilst I keep missing the croissants (I don't have a car and live far away. I can't make it before 10:00 a.m. and they're sold out! It just goes to show how good they must be!) everything else I have tried has been top-notch. I love that they use sourdough in everything which adds a nice tang. The cinnamon buns are buttery and incredibly soft. The babka is delicious and chocolatey, the peanut butter cookies are bomb! Tried both the egg and salmon sandwiches. I love that they add tons of fresh herbs and even a touch of pickles to the egg. Great texture and flavor! If you can get a hand on their savory danishes I highly highly recommend!!!

Google
Very unpleasant experience horrible customer service being a few times must admit their bread is amazing but doesn’t pay for the horrible service they provide for this reason I won’t go back. If they want clientele their service must improve urgently

Google
Incredibly unfriendly staff. I have been here a few times, always expecting something better however the produce is on par with Lidl bakery. Im not sure what all the fuss is about? It is the only bakery / take away shop for quite a distance so maybe people dont realise there are better options outside of their postcode 🤷🏽‍♀️ wouldn't recommend purely because it is heavily overpriced for standard items and unfriendly atmosphere.
