"If the president gathered a team of NASA’s top scientists and ordered them to build the perfect first date bar, you’d get Margot. The narrow Downtown spot is a very romantic shade of pink, has lots of natural wine options, and can simply be described with no word other than “cozy.” Plus, there are tasty small plates you can eat without making a mess. Before you plan a date here, we should warn you that this place is popular and doesn’t take reservations, so try to come at an off-time, or risk waiting 40 sober minutes for a seat, which is a first-date worst-case scenario." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
"The team behind Broken Shaker has expanded their natural wine spot Margot to South Beach’s Flamingo Towers. The new space serves a seasonal American menu featuring coconut-laced ceviche with aji amarillo, butterflied branzino with heart-of-palm chimichurri, and house-ground falafel with labneh and pickles. Bar Lab’s bar expertise is on full display through cocktails like the Flamingo Mojito and Fermented Pimm’s Cup, while a dedicated wine shop and takeout menu cater to locals. A dedicated wine shop caters to locals, while a 20-seat patio offers alfresco dining." - Laine Doss
"Margot is a narrow natural wine bar that’s hard to describe without using the word “cozy.” And while there isn’t a ton of room in here for big groups, this place is really lovely once you do snag a seat at the bar, or one of the little tables. As the name implies, natural wine is what you’ll probably be drinking. They also have some wine-based apertivo cocktails as well as a menu of small plates. This place does feel like it was designed specifically for first, second, or third dates by a team of NASA scientists, although we’d happily come here just to drink wine and eat cheese—while possibly eavesdropping on a first date." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"You can pretty much see the entire room from any seat at this narrow Downtown wine bar. So there’s a good chance at least a few folks casually rubber-necking for beautiful people will spot you and your absolutely perfect haircut. Margot also has a purplish-orange lighting situation that does wonders for both skin and hair, so it’ll only enhance the top of your head. You can just drink here, but they also have some tasty small plates involving cheese, raw fish, marinated olives, and more." - ryan pfeffer
"Margot, also in Downtown, is a bit bigger than NIU Wine, but still firmly in the category of “small.” So proceed with caution if you’re traveling with a big group. People don’t usually camp out here as long as they do at Lagniappe, so even if you have to wait for a table or a bar seat, you’ll get in eventually. And they take reservations as well. Inside, it’s got this pinkish/purplish lighting that’ll make you look 25% more attractive, good wine options, and wine-based apertivo cocktails. There’s also a menu of small plates that involve bread, cheese, and more." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
