Maria e o Boi

Nice and cozy place. Service was great and food arrived very fast. I personally loved the bife ancho, provoleta and cheese puree. Loved these, however the parmigiana was not that good, it seemed overcooked and very crunchy. The menu is very simple, which I found amazing and they have many wine options. Also, as an opportunity area, the bathrooms need more cleaning.

Great place to eat good meat with the right ambiance and that bistro feeling.

Awesome cozy place, we loved the salmon, prime rib, and coconut lime rice! The meat was so tasty and done perfectly. The Malbec and cocktails were great too, highly recommend for a chill date night

Unfortunately, something went very wrong here. For a Michelin Gourmand rated restaurant, I expected much more. The atmosphere was lifeless compared to other nearby spots, and the service was truly disappointing. The manager was overly harsh on the waitstaff, creating an uncomfortable scene. On top of that, he handed me the wine glass instead of placing it on the table, which felt unprofessional. The wine service was mediocre, and as for the food, it echoed some of the negative reviews I had read (a bit too late). While the tartar was decent (although the soft bread didn’t pair well with it), the other dishes were incredibly dry. Sorry, Maria e o Boi, but the experience felt like a letdown. It’s time to get your act together— this feels like a scam, which is sad for a place with such potential.

Visited for my last Rio meal after discovering in the Bib Gourmand Michelin guide and was certainly not disappointed. The restaurant has a cosy feel with a wonderful amnjance. Wait staff were extremely helpful and knowledge of both their food and wine. Finally the food itself was astounding, I opted for Fraldinha (flank steak) accompanied by Truffle and Parmesan fries, all presented well and tasted incredible. Would absolutely recommend.

A great restaurant which elevates traditional Brazilian food into a fine dining experience. Would not be out of place among the best restaurants in any city. Everything tasted great and was presented beautifully.

A couple of days ago, we had dinner at Maria e Boi in the beautiful and ultra-chic Ipanema. The meal began with steak tartare and the obligatory caipirinha, followed by Amazonian fresh fish and the tastiest medium-rare fillet steak I’ve had in years. These dishes were accompanied by a delightful bean stew, bacon farofa, and steamed green vegetables. Absolutely delicious!

DO. NOT. WASTE. YOUR. MONEY. HERE. I review A LOT of restaurants….and let me tell you if I could give this a NEGATIVE review I would DO NOT SPEND A PENNY HERE. The food…sucked…either dry, or raw. And at the end, the inability to use a calculator by our server….wheb you’ve been sitting here 3 hours…it was too much. There are so many better restaurants. I have no clue how this place is so highly reviewed and regarded, perhaps it’s the water or the perception of “qualify.” We were a party of 9!!! We had better quality at Zona Sol Supermarket food court, and at least their math when adding your bill is accurate. I would recommend NOT going here.
