Mariano's

Good location, although I did walk into the store closing within ten minutes. So for anyone else out there, that may be attempting to shop and not peruse, like me, phone first. Pay no attention to there regular business hours listed. This location closed at 6pm sharp. Merry Christmas Marianos!

Nice grocery South Loop of Chicago. Starbucks & Stan's Donuts inside. Smoothie counter. The Apple Ginger Zing smoothie was delicious. Make sure you have their Rewards card for the sale prices. Ask cashier. Most of their employees are professional, attentive and nicely dressed. Ready to help you find an item or pricing. Some others .. not so much and blend with the public. check out the produce, bakery, deli and cheese & meat areas. Plenty of parking too.

Some sections at this grocery store are better than others. But food that expired 3 years ago?! I spoke to the manager and he said that they will get a new shipment in the back on Tuesday. But I didnt see him add it to an inventory request platform, nor did I hear him ask an employee to remove the expired items from the shelf. I don’t want the area to lose another grocer, nor should one of my neighbors get sick from expired food. If you’re a consumer, please remember to check the expiry dates on the inventory at this location.

This supermarket is simply bad. They try to sell Expired stuff for like $1 less, that includes past due meats, nuts, butter, yogurts and much more. So many times I’ve come home to realize that a product I just purchased was dated six or more months back or even worse, I once got walnuts from 2022. (As of 12/13/23) This situation is concerning for a large number of reasons, mainly health. Here are some pictures that I’ve gotten to take, I wish I had more.

Being Celiac poses issues to eat on the run! There is always GLUTEN FREE GOODNESS in a BBQ GRILL & SALAD BAR! I thoroughly enjoyed my Peppered Burger Salad!

Great service they always have everything I need the aisles are always fully stocked. I want to thank Nick the dairy manager he’s great helped me find the egg nog he even showed me all the brands and the best ones to get great service

One of the best Mariano’s in the City, I shop here frequently and I have to say everything is always in stock and they have everything nice and neat all the time. Great Gem in the South Loop area for sure the best grocery store I’ve been to around that area.

Love the selection. The cheese corner has all the smoked choices, olives, wines, great place.

I am a cake snob but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our cake. This review is for the bakery.... Martha in the bakery was very helpful and personable. She made the cake exactly how we wanted. The strawberry filling with marble cake was quite tasty.

I can't in good conscience recommend this location if you're shopping for fruit/veggies. They are frequently out of staples. They frequently have expired and moldy produce on the shelves. You have to be very careful about what you purchase here. The other departments are fully stocked. The staff are friendly. But go to the nearby Whole Foods for your produce.

Dingy, frequently out of product, product that is the polar opposite of fresh, staff that is rude and clueless. Do yourself a favor and skip this place permanently, as I do.

This store has some quality products and a great variety of items. I went to the deli meat section to get some select Italian meats to make a sandwich at home. The employee assisting me took an extremely long time to 3 - half pounds selections of meat. The first meat I asked for he went to the back for a while, then came back, had to walk out around the display to the end get the meat, talk to another employee for several minutes before even starting to slice the meat. It took over 30 minutes to get this done, I decided against getting any provolone due to the time it took for the meat. While staff cannot tell when people need to get assistance quickly and get out of the store their time is wasted by the staff representing the business. Furthermore at the checkout the employee at the register was complaining about the previous customer. The last thing another customer wants to hear is your employee complaining about the customers they serve when they should be happy to have jobs and be grateful for the facts that they have those jobs. The cost of groceries are expensive and people pay a lot of money they shouldn't have to ask for assistance with bagging when they are paying these prices at the checkout. The checker at the checkout was complaining because the previous customer told the employee she needed to bag her groceries and the checker told the women that bagging wasn't done you have to ask for assistance. The problem is todays staff feels entitled to high pay and no work ethic.

Worst Marianos ever. If you walk inside, youll see that the produce ks basicslly epty. Allways too! They NEVER have what I need, such as: - basil - broccoli - spinach - garlic (see picture) How does a grocery run out of such standard produce?! All. The. Time. Whoever manages this store needs to do better or get going.

The usual grocery shopping. Love the prepared food options. However, I am giving 5 stars because their florist, Young' is absolutely amazing at floral designs. She made a fabulous bridal bouquet with boutonnières. Ordered it for a friend's wedding. It cost 1/3 of the price that a florist would have charged and was so beautiful, everyone loved it!

Bought a bottle of liquor and found that the bottle was defective when I got home. Liquor was leaking and it smelled foul. Took it back and they refused to exchange it for me.

Sadly, this location has real problems. Their issues with loss control make it difficult for paying customers. Elevators need to be cleaned and are often out of service. I'll be shifting to other nearby locations that are far superior.

If I could give zero stars I would. For one I had to wait for a cart before shopping. No carts in the store, really?! Then when I was about to check out, I heard "you can't check out here" this very short woman was said rudely "only 20 items or less." Mind you there is no signage that states this. I've been coming to this Mariano's since 2016 living in South Loop and I've always been able to check out at self check out quickly. The cashiers are not the quickest and there is always a line that spills into the food aisles. I guess I'll go to target or Pete's or Jewels. Marianos has definitely fallen off.

I live walking distance from this location and I want to love it but every time I'm here I leave disappointed. It's sad watching the service of this Mariano's go downhill. Came in for a coffee and walked out with an energy drink instead. Waited about 10 mins before a staff member came and asked if I was being helped. She paged whoever was working the coffee bar and I waited another 5 + minutes and no one showed up. Shame on me for assuming I'd be able to get a coffee today.

I can't do it anymore with the no cashiers. Everyone has to go to the self-check out and people are checking out cart full of groceries at the self checkout. The prices aren't competitive and the wrong items on the self shelves.

I am appalled and disappointed that the Mariano's on Clark Street, near South Side is sending texts at 3:39 am for a 1-2 pm delivery! I have brought this to their attention several times as I am 70 years old and receiving a text regarding substitutions on items is disruptive and does not allow me to get the rest a senior citizen needs. I can't imagine why Mariano's continues to send out texts at 3:39 am! I have no complaints about the delivery service or items purchased just the INSANE TEXTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR A NEXT DAY AFTERNOON DELIVERY! MARIANO'S PLEASE STOP THESE INSANE EARLY MORNING TEXTS!!!

I usually get lunch or dinner from Marianos. When people think about a grocery store they don't factor in a grill. About once a month or so I get a steak or something cooked from meat department . Nice staff and very professional. Good food and best part you get to pick the piece you want cooked

I bake a lot so when it comes to buying a cake I'm very picky. Marianos never disappoints! Whether I place a special order for a cake or I purchase one out of the refrigerated section they are always on point. I would love to have that frosting recipe so if anyone has it please share! I called and spoke to Michelle and really had no idea what I wanted but she did a fabulous job taking my order and remembering me when I picked up the cake. I believe she's helped me in the past and has a delightful personality and has a lot of patience. I chose this color scheme because we are a family that loves the Kansas City Chiefs! My son's birthday and the signing of Patrick Mahone's 10 year contract fell on the same day so what better way to celebrate! If you need a freshly, tasty and beautifully decorated cake, try Marianos!

This store isn't perfect. Sure, it's missing items at times but it might be distributor or manufacturer issues. There are occasionally idiotic customers who ignore mask mandates or think a chin guard will suffice. I get it, low brain cell count or brainwashed by misinformation. The workers don't enforce the mandate and I get they aren't paid enough to deal with crazy or stupid. Sometimes they don't have enough checkout lanes open. They aren't strict like other stores that check at the entrance and it's disappointing but out of my control. Someone was shot and killed in this parking lot a couple of months back. Sad and unfortunate. I heard the store went on lock down and saw a lot of squad cars were around that day. The world feels crazier now. But back to the store, this is a nice big location and they carry the usual items most locations carry. But I feel like other locations might have a bigger variety but I go to this one a lot because of the convenient location. It's bigger than the small South Loop location and the parking lot isn't designed to kill pedestrians like that South Loop one. You know what I mean if you've been to that location. The entrance is right where cars can make a right turn. The only reason I'm giving this location five stars despite the flaws mentioned above is because the workers seem happy here. I walked past an employee handing another differently abled employee some cleaning supplies and over heard him telling him to take his time. I'm not sure if it's Kroger or Mariano's policy to hire differently abled people or just this location, but it was really nice to see. It gave me the warm fuzzes inside and reminded me the world isn't full of assholes. The rest of the employees seem laid back too. Walked past three employees making chocolate strawberries, two dipping and one chatting the other two up. It's just nice to seem happy employees in a stressful field that didn't shut down at all or doesn't have the luxury of working from home. This one guy who works the self checkout is super friendly and always apologetic when the line is too long. The perfect five stars are for all the employees here.

Sunday night, 6:50 pm. Store crowded. Only two cashiers on second floor. Waited 15 minutes to even get to the conveyer belt. Scale not working for produce. Person helping to bag left and went to another line. I told a manager they needed more cashiers. She ignored me. I went there, because Walmart was so low on products, and this was my reward. My cashier had to do my bagging. I rack up a $78.00 bill and try to use my LINK card. EBT not working. Had to use my own money. Somebody owes me a rebate.

We can no longer depend on Mariano's in Western Springs, IL for quality seafood. Quite often there is a strong fish odor coming from the back of the store. The odor has been very intense at the fish counter. I'm concerned that time and temperature monitoring is deficient. Fresh fish should not smell.

Meh. Sad what time does. From what I read Mariano's was not a sustainable model, and it's shown. You can't have high quality with low prices forever, and Mariano's has chosen which way to swing on that. I feel like the produce area is always empty, and the only thing that really separates it from the nearby Jewel is the better prepared food area. But, even then, it's not as good as it used to be and it's probably the worst Mariano's of the three that are accessible to me (Greektown and the one by Millennium Park). It's smaller and just feels neglected at times. It works in a pinch, and if you live nearby it will work adequately. I get you can't do all your shopping at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, and I was really excited when this location first opened. Now I wish it was a Pete's instead.

For the most part, I've enjoyed my visits at this Mariano's. I see they've hiring young staff. I had a great experience with checkout and bagging staff on yesterday. They were so friendly and polite. It's great to experience this with this younger generation.

Mariano's is a great store near my place. It is clean and everything in every section is well organized. I can say that it is the most convenient grocery store I have ever had because every time I feel lazy to cook and does not feel like eating in a restaurant I just go here and get my self a nice piece of meat and grilled it in their grilling section and just like that I can enjoy a nice steak for lunch. Another one is that they have like some sort of buffet section where you can choose anything you would like to eat. Additionally is that they have a large section of frozen and fresh foods and produce, bakery section is also available with lots of delicious pastries, a good dairy section but sometimes they run out of stock and also a bunch of liquors in its selection. Literally just everything I needed in a grocery store. Highly recommended for everyone.

Most employees don't have their noses covered. The announcements that are on a loop clearly say small children are exempt from masks but when a large kid walks around not a single employee says anything or bats an eye. I shouldn't have to go to the customer service desk and drag the manager out just to bring it to their attention. Safety is not a priority here, money is. All the signs and safety precautions they are "taking" is all for show. What a joke!

I like this store here's why: - Large selection of frozen and fresh foods - Large bakery - Awesome bakery staff who gives personal attention and appears to like answering questions - Clean store - Heavy traffic and high volume sales store so good rarely expires! It's important to me to have fresh food. I don't like stores that hardly have customers because their food is always bearing expiring, but this location is different. Cons- The parking situation is hard to figure out. They have a parking garage but how you get into it and where you find it is a mystery to me. I usually just sit in the lot until a spot becomes available. I wish they'd put up a sign or something regarding how to find this garage.

My first time here and I only decided to go here because I went to the bank and I wanted to grab some quick groceries. It was okay while I was shopping, but when I got to the end of my shopping journey, it turned sour. The worker working self-checkout was way to preoccupied standing around and looking for someone than paying attention. It would have been a simple transaction, but she was so distracted. Then she packed my groceries and put the deviled eggs on their side and they spilled around in the package. I had to quickly take them out or the filling. Also, the customers here are kind of rude. When I went into the self-checkout line, people who were walking behind me cut me in line and crowded a customer trying to pay for her stuff at the self-check out machine. I even told them that they are cutting and one guy said "oh" but still stood right in front of me - talking on his phone the whole time. The same people blocked an aisle I was trying to go through and wouldn't move even after I said politely said excuse me. Such negative experiences, I won't bother coming back here. Shame since this is a good spot to put one and tons of parking outside and inside. I'll just stick to staying in my neighborhood Mariano's and other grocery stores.

I have been a shopper at this grocery store for over 3 years, and a year ago, I would have given this location 4-5 stars. In recent months, however, most departments at this store have gone downhill. Produce quality has severely deteriorated--I find rotten produce every time I visit. I also recommend never going on a Tuesday because the produce is usually cleaned out by then. Customer service is lacking and they are under staffed--the checkout line is always 5 people deep with a maximum of 3 regular checkout lines open. Ringers and baggers never greet you, never ask if you found everything okay, and ever since the new bag laws we're enacted, they overpack all the bags in an effort to pack everything into as few bags as possible, and they put items together that do not belong together in a bag. If they put my raw meat on top of my produce one more time, I will blow.

The smoothy bar has had some of the most unpleasant individuals working there. I walked out one day because the lady scratched her weave and then started to make my smoothie. she had on the same gloves she used to scratch her hair. The regular lady isn't friendly either, have come several times and no one is at juice/smoothie counter hours before it's suppose to close. it would be nice if there were someone there consist you who was aware of food handling procedures. lots of things have changed since the new owners took place. I go because it near me... not what it use to be

Keep this on the hushhhhhh! The lines aren't very long here during this COVID 19 craziness! They have everything in stock!!!!!!! Y'all better werkkkkkkk Mariano's in the South Loop!!!

Mariano's, I love you but sadly, you need some tough love especially in the time of COVID-19. While many grocery stores in the area (Jewel, Trader Joes) are implementing safe measures (close to 6 feet distance) for customers, Mariano's has not. You would not be able to tell that we were in a pandemic if you step into this grocery store. In fact, more people are shopping here than on a normal day. I'm glad Mariano's is keeping people employed, but that comes at the cost of spreading disease to elderly shoppers, essential workers, and really everyone. There are intercoms above to remind us of safe distancing but no implementation of signs or tapes yet. Still enjoy the produce and the grilled to order chicken (complimentary). And I did love the honey chicken wings, but I'm glad Mariano's has shut this down in the time of COVID. This place works for me because I'm always in a hurry, and I can go in and out. It does or used to resemble somewhat of a Whole Foods but for cheaper prices. However, I think cleanliness of the washrooms and lack of appropriate safety measures, brings the rating down.

I'm getting a tad perturbed with this location. I popped in again on a Tue after work hours, and the place is pretty busy. That's a good thing, right? I guess the management doesn't believe in prepping for a rush. The lines to check out where through to the aisles, the 15 item or less line was being used by people with full carts, and they only had 3 registers open. I figured I would grab a boost and order ab espresso before checking out, but that was an insult. I asked for my espresso solo, and the register person (definitely not a barista) asked, "what size?" OH THE HUMANITY! I asked, "what do you mean what size?" She proceeded to ask, "small, medium, or large?" WTF?!?! Really? I flat out asked if she knew how to make it, and she said "she was covering a shit, it's not my department." I almost threw up a little. That alone should warn you that this place has hit rock bottom.

Since daughter moved to Chicago, i came here more often. Always go to Hmart, but I'm glad to find a store similar to Kroger, which I'm very familiar with. They have stuff that Hmart does not carry, so i will come here too for grocery. Good store.

No one working at the store seems to care. So many times I've been there and there are no carts available. The store isn't busy and all of the carts are scattered around the parking lot instead of the store. I had a bagger drop my bag of groceries on the ground while placing it in the cart and walk away. A bottle of olive oil shattered and everything in the bag was ruined. I got yogurt from the salad bar and they had mixed up the bacon into the granola. That made for a terrible breakfast. I ordered a pizza, waited for 15 minutes, came back to the counter to pick it up and was told that I never placed the order. It was the same rude woman who took my order who told me that I never placed the order only 15 minutes after I made the order with her. The close the deli counter way before the store closes. Once it was two hours before the store closed. They do whatever they want. I made the mistake of getting their sushi. I threw it out after one bite because I was afraid I might die. I try to never go back to that store and will only in a desperate pinch. The store had gone downhill and it's only getting worse.

This review is for the in store florist. Her name is Denise, she was very helpful and had a great personality. She made sure the flowers were covered up for the harsh winter air and made them look great.

My go-to grocery store because it's close to work. Absolutely love that they offer regular produce but also organic choices. I can also always trust that I can make a quick stop here to pick up breakfast or lunch! They have a bunch of new self-check outs set up, by the hot bar, along with the other side sandwiching the registers with cashiers at them. I will say I've gotten 2-3 bags of clementines here and when I got home, found that one or two were rotten and moldy. A few frustrations at this location: a lot of time items and their items tags/price tags don't match up. I thought a box of candy for 2.29, but after examining the tag underneath, I realized it wasn't even the price tag for the item I wanted (even though the entire stack of them were there). Cashiers here also don't seem to ever have a sense of urgency, actually I don't even know if I would call it that..they move really slowly and take forever to scan all of your items. This can be extremely frustrating especially because there are many businesses around the area, along with apartments, the police department, and several schools. Knowing your neighborhood is so important. I've been here on several occasion where almost all of the check out lanes were open and all of them had lines. While trying to find the shortest line to get in, I'd see handfuls of other people doing the exact same thing, all of us not knowing which line to go to because all of them were packed.

I can't imagine a world without Mariano's. I've had the pleasure of being spoiled by the awesome Wegmans back when I was living in New York and this is the closest thing that comes to it in terms of food quality, diversity in offerings, customer service, and store layout/ambience. Mariano's does all the little things right. Clean store. Smiling employees. Pick from an assortment of bottled soda for $4. Samples of food throughout the week. Chicago mix popcorn under $5? Fast checkout lines. I can go on and on... The only negative is the parking garage which is a little too steep. Corners are a sharp 90 degrees requiring a sharp turn and attention to oncoming traffic which you won't see until the last second. I'm glad that Mariano's has good prices on products but doesn't compromise on product selection. Chicago needed a good jolt of competition. Thank God.

A special shout out to Don, who's the head of the liquor department. Over the years Don has been consistently a huge help in finding and choosing among a wide variety of beers, wines and hard liquors. He's never steered me wrong. Thanks also to Don, the department is always clean, organized and well stocked,

Do not go on a Sunday!!!!! They had about 4 lanes open and the lines were all the way down the isles. Only 3 or 4 of the self service checkouts were working. Come on people, if there is ONE day you need to have your act together, it's on a Sunday! I was dangerously close to just walking out but I decided to wait and use the time to write this instead :)

This Mariano's location is one of my go to locations. It is easy to get to and has plentiful parking. I stopped in after work to quickly pick up a few things. The store was not crowded and the shelves were fully stocked. The bakery and fresh seafood area looked great. The produce section had tons of in season items. I like a store that is clean and organized that employs friendly and helpful staff. I was in and out quickly.

This is probably one of my most favorite locations, I like it because it's not one of their mega stores, it fits comfy like an old pair of blue jeans. Easy to navigate, by my third visit here I knew the layout and the best route to pick up my items, or just take it leisurely and find something new to try. As you enter you'll find yourself in produce, sales are usually right up front, again not the largest selection, however fresh and creative, same for the cheese selection that follows, then the liquor right after that. At this point I can be done shopping and head for the register. Of course there's more, so shop on. Staff is friendly and helpful, deli department is efficient. Customers are generally in a good mood here, I can't think of a time that I've visited here and not conversed with someone in the checkout line or while waiting at the deli counter, either about the weather, or a product. Yesterday was in the checkout lane, have you had those before? Yes, they're good I said back. Then she commented they have chocolate now, me, oh really something more to get hooked on. A minute of conversation, didn't hold up the line or delay anyone, however just made my day go by a little better, hopefully it did hers to. After all, we can chose to be pleasant or get back to our regularly scheduled habit of being snarly and giving each other the universal salute for driving mistakes or the backpack that nearly knocks you over on the CTA.

Pretty good selection plus the staff is super friendly. My boy James always looks out for me in the hot for area. Definitely a neighborhood favorite when I don't feel like cooking.

I will never shop at a mariano's grocery store ever again. I used to work in a fast food restaurant and i can tell when the food has been sitting out too long. There's rules and regulations of a time frame for foods to be cooked, prepared and served. If the foods haven't been served at a particular time frame.... it is supposed to be tossed out in the trash. Some places offer a discount or refuse to sell their food. The prices throughout the store is extremely expensive. I forgot to take pictures of the counter display, my food, and price. At the hot food display---the pizza and sandwiches were dried out and for sale at the regular price. There was greese and food splattered on the counter top. I've tried to find something reasonable to purchase during this time frame. So, I've selected one chicken breast and a fork sample of mac n cheese, potatoes... The price was $10.71 for old food sitting out. I will never again shop at Mariano's. Whole Foods is another grocery store that I will never shop in. This was a ridiculous experience.

This Mariano's is so fantastic, they have so great customer service. Their staff are so friendly and helpful, all of them will greet you with a smile and a cheerful welcome once you enter their store. Their items are truly fair, good quality, and always fresh. They have so lots of nice selection of foods, fruits, vegetables, and other supplies. Their store is very organized and clean, their place is so great, you can easily find all the things you need because they are well-stocked and well-sorted. Their prices are always reasonable and they also have great deals, promos, and even sale items. I really love this store, they also have fresh sushi, beef, fish, and imported products. This Mariano's got the perfect location, it is so easy and quick to go. They have lot of parking lot, and they are nearby in other landmark around the City. 5-star for this Mariano's because of their amazing customer service, great produce and imported items, and also for such a wonderful experience. Thank you Mariano's, keep up the good work. Good job!

Won't be back to this horrible store. From the beginning to the end - and absolute horrible experience. Entering the store from the garage, we were greeting by an overflowing garbage bucket with trash on the ground all around it. Inside the store, the aisles are too narrow making avoiding accidents your main concern shopping. The soda pop selection was very thin, and I ended up leaving with a few bottles on sale rather the several 12 packs was looking to purchase. But the icing on the cake was our cashier who was flirting with another employee as we waited behind him. When it came time for her to process our order, the smile vanished to be replaced by the dead-eye stare and complete coldness in spite of my efforts to be cheerful. Quadasha needs to go get a job watching an empty building or something, because she shouldn't be in front of customers.

This place is great. Every Fresh item has great flavor. The Liquor section has just about everything you need. The staff is friendly and the store is clean.

My new neighborhood Marianos! I love the setup and everyone who works here is pretty nice. Parking lot in the front is small and incovenient if you are trying to get out of there and then end up behind someone waiting on another car to move to take the space. Probably easier if you drive into the garage.

I love Mariano's!!! The staff is friendly, the aisles are always clean and the ready-to-go food is always yummy! Lines are never too long either. There are so many lanes to check out that shopping here is super convenient. They grill your meat here for free which is awesome! You can build a salad at the salad bar or grab a warm lunch or sushi. Coming here after work can be a little more crowded but nothing overpowering. I love the organic options they have here! There's a parking lot right outside and a parking garage next door. I've never had to go the garage because people are always coming in and out. Trust me, lines move quickly. When we moved I thought it'd be tough to break away from my beloved Pete's but Mariano's has not disappointed.

The grilling station here is the best. It super convenient for someone that is always on the go. The lines to check-out do get long which is really the only downside.

I was shopping before 8am yesterday during your senior hours. I was very uncomfortable to see two employees wearing their masks around their neck. They were walking between the lines and I saw them numerous times while I was there. So it wasn't just removing their mask for a second it was the entire time I was there. I went there two weeks ago and half of the employees were without masks. I called and let the manager know. I was hoping for a huge improvement today but was disappointed to see the people stocking the shelves either without masks or not covering their noses and standing right next to me while I was shopping. Once again before 8am during senior hours. The cashier was properly masked and everyone was friendly but I don't feel safe. I love Mariano's and keep hoping you will enforce your mask policy. I went to Mariano's again today to give them one last chance. I was very pleased to see that EVERY single person - employee and customer- was properly wearing a mask and being socially distant. And was polite.

With all the hardships we have all recently endured due to covid-19 picking up groceries should be easy! At Marianos on Clark st in the south loop it was exactly that! Clearly marked parking / waiting area. Clear instructions with phone number attached. I especially want to send a big thank k you to the young ladies bringing our groceries to us and checking us out. They were extremely pleasant and courteous! They were thorough and fast! Kudos to the staff there at Marianos, with all the stress we all endure daily it was a wonderful trip to get the things we needed by ESSENTIAL employees!! Please know we appreciate you!
