The 12 Best New Restaurants in New Orleans, March 2025

"New Orleans can never have too many oyster bars, which is why Maria’s is a welcome addition to the Warehouse District. The team behind nearby tapas restaurant Plates, chef Farrell Harrison and general manager Brian Weisnicht, are now serving a seafood-centric, Caribbean-tinged menu of shareable plates: raw, fried, and roasted oysters; crudo, ceviche, and raw bar platters; and comfort food like gumbo, an oxtail hand pie, and pork cheeks. Cocktails like the Down the Bayou, a crab boil-spiced Hurricane, make for a unique cocktail menu." - Clair Lorell

Four New Orleans Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, February 2025 | Eater New Orleans

"Opened in the former N.O.S.H. space, this seafood-focused spot is helmed by Chalmette-born chef Farrell Harrison and his general manager partner Brian Weisnicht, who previously found success with Plates. The menu mixes subtle Caribbean influences across raw, fried, and roasted oysters; crudo, ceviche, and raw bar platters; and comfort dishes such as gumbo, an oxtail hand pie, and pork cheeks. The team is also planning a sister restaurant, Le Moyne Bistro, to open next door later this year." - Clair Lorell

Marias Oyster Bar delivers an exceptional seafood experience, the kind that reminds you why fresh, well handled product matters. The oysters were the clear highlight. Served on a bed of pristine ice, each one was plump, cold, and incredibly fresh, with that perfect balance of brine and sweetness that only high quality oysters have. The mignonette, lemon, and horseradish complemented them beautifully without overwhelming their natural flavor. The ceviche was bright and refreshing, with a clean citrus profile and tender fish that held its texture perfectly. The crispy root vegetable chips added a great contrast and made the whole dish feel thoughtful and well executed. Simple, but done with skill and intention. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, and the service is attentive and professional. You can tell the team respects seafood and treats it with real care. Marias Oyster Bar is a must visit for anyone who loves seafood prepared the right way. Fresh oysters, balanced dishes, and a comfortable yet elevated setting make it a standout spot. Highly recommended.

This place had some of the best food we got to eat in New Orleans. My husband got the burger, and it was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was made with brisket and prime rib with jerk spices. It was a perfect blend of heat and flavor. I got the fish sandwich with homemade focaccia. It was so flavorful! I was truly overwhelmed with how wonderful, fresh, and creative the food was here. Our server was fantastic and gave us sime personal suggestions for a while we were in New Orleans. Definitely come here if you want some great flavors in a relaxing, simple atmosphere.

Google
Popped in just as they opened because no trip to New Orleans is complete without some oysters right? Glad we stopped here. I got a dozen raw and my other half got the chargrilled ones. So so good. Hit the spot!

We made a happy hour stop to Maria’s on a Saturday evening. They had great service and wonderful happy hour options. The smoked fish dip was great. Gulf oysters were $1.50 each. The flower power sour was amazing. It was a pisco sour infused with hibiscus. Highly recommend. Our waitress, Isabel, was also wonderful. Go check them out!

Google
Maria’s is serving up something special! Every dish bursts with flavor and creativity. The oxtail hand pie is simply phenomenal—tender, slow-cooked oxtail wrapped in a buttery, flaky crust that transports you somewhere unforgettable. The seafood gumbo is generously packed with fresh seafood, and the jerk burger delivers an explosion of bold, smoky spice in every bite. Maria’s is an absolute must-try—you won’t be disappointed!

We had a lovely first dinner sitting at the bar at Maria's and greatly enjoyed cocktails, gulf oysters, garlic shrimp, gumbo and fresh baked focaccia bread. Small plates which delighted our palates, filled us up, and left us with a glow. Thank you, Fran, for the gin recommendation and our best to the bartender who is back in action!

I’ve been wanting to check this spot out for happy hour. I went twice in one day for lunch then came back after work for happy hour. Happy hour is also on weekends (which is a plus). For lunch I had the grilled gulf fish sandwich (drum). Could have been seasoned a little more. The bead was throwing me off. The fries were good. Taylor the bartender and Matthew the oyster 🦪 sucker were so cool. Service was good! I’m not even an oyster eater AT ALL. However, Matthew talked me into trying an raw oyster I could not believe I did that. I must say his concoction with the sauce that tapped the oyster had a nice crunch and flavor to it. It was cucumber and I think red pepper 🌶️. When I came back for happy hour Lauren (blue hair) was cool. I tried the sangria. It didn’t give me the sangria vibes that I was looking for. However, it was more spritz forward. I had the pimento cheese croquettes. It was good. The ambience was pretty nice. It definitely gave me the seashore vibes. With the twist of a lounge.

Google
The best meal we have had in New Orleans! The restaurant and bar are beautiful and inviting. Our server Rubee was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and food. The best service we have had on our first trip to New Orleans! We will definitely be back! Thank you Rubee 💗

Yelp
The location near the WWII museum worked great for us. Cool hip interior. Friendly hostess. Solid waiter. Wonderful Savagnin Blanc Oysters on the half shell were on point. My salad with fried oysters was absolutely delicious! A friend had a fish sandwich with chips, and he loved it. 10/10, I would do this place again.

Yelp
Maria's Oyster Bar - Where Happy Hour Went to Die (generously) White Linen Night in New Orleans: the air was steamy, the linen was flowing, and our group was ready to kick things off with some sips and small bites before diving into the galleries. Since we'd already splurged on a fancy pants dinner a couple of nights prior, we were hunting for something a little easier on the wallet, but still solid. Enter: Maria's, the shiny new oyster bar on the block, proudly advertising Happy Hour every day from 4-6 PM. Perfect, right? We made a reservation, showed up right at 4, and were ready to pounce on a dozen oysters and a round of drinks. Plot twist: I ask our server for the happy hour menu and she hits us with, "Oh, we're not doing happy hour tonight...it's White Linen Night." What the shuck? Let me paint the picture here: a full house of people clearly doing the exact same math we were. Everyone showed up early, looking for that sweet HH deal, only to find out they'd yanked it with zero warning. No update on the website. No email. No tiny fine print when I booked the resy. Just... no happy hour for you. Not a great look, Maria. We stayed anyway--because we were already there and mildly hopeful, but it didn't get better. I ordered the pimento cheese croquettes, and they came out lukewarm. Honestly, they tasted like someone whispered the word "cheddar" at them from across the room. Zero sharpness, no zing, no reason to finish them. My husband got the fries, and while they were fine, they were also fries. You can get better ones at a gas station with a deep fryer and a dream. The little skillet, appetizer of garlic shrimp actually looked pretty good, even though they gave one skimpy piece of bread with it. One more bread was requested, my friend was offered the $6 plate of ciabatta. Across the table, the verdict was unanimous: nothing special. Everything felt like it could be good in theory, but in practice? Totally forgettable. To add insult to the already unhappy hour injury, our check arrived with a 3% "employee wellness" fee, added to it. Bottom line: In a city overflowing with incredible food, there's just no reason to settle for "meh." Maria's missed the mark--from the bait-and-switch on happy hour to the bland bites, and added fees. We won't be back.

Yelp
Maria's oyster bar is a really cute spot with friendly bartenders and staff. The oysters were really fresh and shucked right in front of us. We sat at the bar, which has a nice aesthetic. The bartenders were all genuinely friendly and helpful offering samples of wine. Happy hour is definitely worth checking out, great selection of wines and good snacks. Cocktail menu is creative and delicious. I've been to Maria's a few times now and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
What an experience!! This place was awesome! The staff here was great Chelsea, Nick and Will! I appreciate your hospitality! We sat at the bar and we were greeted by two different gentleman! On it! Next, we looked over then menu! We asked them to recommend a few things for us. Wow! We had a half of dozen of Baked Oysters. They were tasty but the best one for me were the Little Moons and Admirals! Yum Yum! We also tried some focaccia bread, gumbo and croquettes! Everything was so good and the service was even better! The staff had great knowledge of the area and it was pleasure to dine with you all. Thanks for showing my bestie and I a great time! There are few others that were awesome as well Robert who shucked our oysters was awesome and one more guy didn't get his name! You guys rock! This was are stop everyday before we went out to join the crazies lol!!!!

Yelp
This new place in new orleans is located in the heart of the city. The decor is very modern and elegant. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by hostess who told us they we could not sit at an actual table bc of an event. But we had the option of the bar or the sitting area. I didn't like that we couldn't have an actual table. If an event is booked and it's gonna cause your customers to be uncomfortable then maybe the restaurant shouldn't be open to the public when a big event is booked. Our waitress Fern was amazing! She was very polite and attentive. We started off with the red fish ceviche, half dozen of raw oysters. Entrees we ordered maria's shrimp, fried oyster salad, and oxtail meat pie. Let me just say everything was fresh, made from scratch, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My favorite item was the oxtail meat pie. It had a little kick but the flavors just burst in your mouth. The crust is def made from scratch! I cant wait to go back! Its on my favorite list

Yelp
This was an upscale spot that was dimly lit and a large bar present. The menu was limited but had unique and different options to choose from. The service was okay. The drinks took a long time to come out when it was not that busy when we attended, but besides that, it was alright. We just ordered two appetizers, a half dozen raw oysters (Market Price) and the gulf tuna crudo ($18). The raw oysters were humongous. They were probably some of the bigger ones I have seen, if not ever. We were provided a mignonette with these that went well with the oysters. The oysters appeared very fresh but were a little too large for me. They were still tasty, but just too big. The gulf tuna crudo had tiger milk, Fresno chilis, cucumbers, and quinoa present. It was a very vibrant and fresh dish. The crispy quinoa and cucumber provided a nice crunch factor. The pieces of tuna were not bad either while the tiger milk was a little too much as I do not think it was needed. Will I go back? Probably.

Yelp
Perfect vibes. Amazing staff. Amazing drinks. Well priced. As soon as we stepped in we were treated with such care. We sat here for the parade and it was the best idea. Also their happy hour was fantastic!

Yelp
Maria's Oyster & Wine Bar is a brand new restaurant in the Warehouse District. It took the place of NOSH. The vibe is casual. The seafood centric menu has delicious oysters (fresh and dried). The handcrafted cocktails were unique and well executed. High points on our visit included focaccia with chili oil, an oxtail meat pie with a fluffy crust, and a sizzling shrimp dish so good you'll be mopping up every last drop of the melted butter sauce... so good! Maria's also has a GREAT happy hour menu until 6pm. Service was friendly and efficient and the waitstaff are well versed in menu items and so enthusiastic about sharing recommendations! Excited to have this new option in the neighborhood. The owners also run the nearby Plates restaurant and are opening a French restaurant next door (in the old Tommy's location) in mid March 2025. Can't wait to try more menu items.

Norm L.

Yelp
The best oysters I have ever had in my entire life. Service excellent also. Not too loud, either.

Yelp
Maria's Oyster & Wine Bar is a playful, polished seafood spot that knows how to treat you right. The Wild Louisiana Oysters are fresh and briny, the Gulf Tuna Crudo is smooth and citrusy--light but full of flavor. Seafood Gumbo is rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. The Smoked Tuna Dip is creamy and smoky, perfect for sharing (but you won't want to). And Maria's Garlic Shrimp? Juicy, buttery, and packed with garlicky goodness. But don't skip dessert--the Tres Leches Cake is soft, soaked, and cloud-like, the kind of sweet ending that leaves you smiling the whole way home. The Not Another Coffee Cocktail ties it all together--bold, slightly sweet, and just the pick-me-up your evening needed. Classy, fun, and full of flavor--Maria's is a winner.

Yelp
We had an event that put us back to the hotel late. It was after 8pm. Since we're hungry we needed a place to feed. It is still Ash Wednesday and so a couple of places we tried were closed. Yelp gave me Maria's so we gave it a try without reading the reviews. This portion of the restaurant is more of a Tapas style restaurant. Small portions but very good. We were a group of 7 hungry fellows but we made it. We called ahead to make sure that we could get in as we were walked out. They said it would be 20-30 minutes. We were 15 minutes away so we said sure. We got there and there was no wait. Not really that many in the restaurant. We were seated immediately. Adult beverages were good. I had an old fashioned and they have a decent spirits list . Much more extensive than the menu. I got the gumbo and a side salad. The gumbo was Devine. It was bowl licking good. It didn't come with bread to sop up with. What a shame as it was that good. The side salad was interesting. Just arugula and a slice or sweet pepper with the house dressing which is somewhat like a Caesar salad. Good portion just nondescript. Tasted good but not a regular side salad. Several liked the grilled shrimp. For whatever reason we opted for desert. Way too late for that but we did it anyway. I tried the hummingbird cake and several had the trese leches cake. They won. It looked delicious and they all said it was. The hummingbird cake was dry. Not my best choice. So great food and spirits and great service but remember small portions.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of their other restaurants so I decided to give this one a try! I was really impressed by their seafood selection. I opted for the Gulf Tuna Crudo to start, my fav. I'm really into small plates and they have some great options. I also tried the Pimento Cheese Croquettes with Tasso Marmalade. Delicious! And the Curried Pork Cheeks. For cocktails, I love a pisco sour and their take on it was very refreshing. I also loveee coffee and usually order an espresso martini. They had an amaro coffee cocktail that was different but unique! I also really enjoyed the music they played here. I will be back!

Yelp
Ms Rubiee with two e's her service was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu every dish she pointed out was as good as she presented it. I would definitely got back to this place again food service the vibe all 10out of 10 Rubieee girl you were amazing for this place to only be open for 3 weeks. Amazing
google avatar

Henry B.

Yelp
RUBEE!! With two EE's Let's start with the service. She took great care of us. For the restaurant to have been open 3weeks now and her to have so much knowledge of every dish like she made them! This was one of the best dinning experiences. Every dish just got better. We did it family style and pretty much ordered the whole menu lol! Arugula is nasty one of the lettuce family and we were fighting over the salad. Even the bread was cooked to perfection. If I had to give a nod to a dish it would probably be the shrimp the sauce the flavor was insane. Sometype of way they figured the ambiance out where you can be dressy casual maybe even formal and still be comfortable. Best Valentines decision lol

Bradley B.

Yelp
Got there early. Amazing oysters at just over $2 a piece. Loved the ceviche and the tuna. Fresh squeezed OJ and champagne...perfect
google avatar

Kasie J.

Yelp
Big, beautiful, airy space! Fresh, balanced, delicious foods Do not skip the Ube cocktail or the nana puddin'
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
The place is beautiful, service is excellent and the food is amazing! 100% recommended. Tuna crudo, ceviche and the curried pork are my favorites. Flower power is a delicious pisco drink.

Cristina D.

Yelp
Went for lunch and got the snapper ceviche and a gulf fish sandwich. It was nicely done with fried cornbread for "bread". Others in my group got the jerk burger and the shrimp appetizer. Everything was flavored well and thoughtful.
google avatar

Crystal S.

Yelp
Some of the best oysters! I wish I could've eaten more, but I was in my way to airport so just had 3. Oysters ran about $2-$3 each. Pricey, but these are not the same $1.50 oysters you get in the quarter at happy hour. Tasted like a kiss from a sexy merman‍. Service was excellent. I sat at the bar and chatted with severs and they were so friendly. The place is quite large with plenty of seating. Took me about 20 minutes to walk from the quarter. I had wanted to have my farewell meal at Napoleon House, but there was a hellacious line on Tuesday at noon! It was nice to eat somewhere new. The gumbo was good, but small...someone next to me at bar ordered that fried oyster salad and it looked really delicious. I'll be adding that to my meal next time I'm in town.

Sachiko S.

Yelp
I walked in on a Saturday night and was promptly seated at a nice table by the window. Isabel was my server and she guided me to the roasted oysters and the snapper ceviche. The fizzy cocktail was delicious. The snapper ceviche with the plantain chips were tasty (good balance of acid and salt complementing the snapper). The wood fired oysters with chili was cooked perfectly and the heat from the chili was just enough to feel. The TVs were on the football games above the bar but the restaurant area was quiet and pleasant. I hope more people fond them!
google avatar

Chantal B.

Yelp
Elegant, inviting and absolutely delicious would be the words I'd use to describe this restaurant. From the moment we walked in the door, the environment was inviting. I remembered this establishment from a couple of years ago as NOSH and the owners only enhanced the beauty that was already there. We were greeting by the absolute best waitress, RubEE. She was so sweet and her descriptions of the items on the menu had you tasting them in your mind. I've never had someone describe Focaccia bread so well and the real thing was everything she said: perfect crisp on the outside, light and airry on the inside. The oxtail meat pie was to die for: perfectly made crust, stuffed to the brim with a very tender, very flavorful oxtail. It was so good. We had several items and EVERYTHING was amazing: even the Oyster salad made you dance with each bite because the Playlist was A1. The drinks were different but a great balance of mixer and alcohol. This place is a must try.... Again and Again

K P.

Yelp
"Stumbled upon this last minute, and it was a great find! Perfect for a quick bite or a light snack. Everything we tried was delicious -- full of flavor and super satisfying!" Service was great from the, manager down to the server. Will be back again. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
A must stop in New Orleans!! We wandered in here after another restaurant we were trying to go to had a 2 hour wait and it did not disappoint. Food was phenomenal and they even have natural wine (which is a plus for me). The garlic shrimp was amazing, wish we had ordered two.
google avatar

Nola L.

Yelp
Maria's is fairly new. We went there for happy hour and some bites before heading down to FQ for the Krew du Vieux parade. We tried several plates and they were all amazing! So happy we chose this plave to try out during our short city trip!! We started with smoked tuna dip, wild oysters, pimento cheese croquettes as appetizers. Then we ordered our entrees: oxtail hand pie, seafood gumbo, Maria's shrimp. Drinks are only $8 during happy hour! We returned after the parade to refuel ourselves and a great excuse to try out their homemade hibiscus iced tea and share the delicious banana pudding! The service is friendly, professional and on point. The ambiance is laid back, modern but warm and clean bathrooms.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Think of this... It's a rainy Sunday in New Orleans, you are hung over and it's the time with all of the restaurants are closed... but Maria's isn't.... so you're hoping for the best. And then you get wowed by the staff and maybe more importantly the food! Dusty at the bar will take amazing care of you. Do not be afraid of the oxtail hand pie... It is packed with meat and amazing, as is the tuna dip with homemade spicy crackers, and just get the garlic shrimp. Get it all together, and use whatever you have left over to dip in that garlic butter. You are welcome!
google avatar

Tico S.

Yelp
New restaurant in the neighborhood Maria's in the warehouse district. Food excellent definitely recommend the Oxtail meat pie and the grilled shrimp. Our server Chanel was attentive and prompt. My only negative is that their wine poor is low, especially for New Orleans. But 9 out of 10.
google avatar

Eddie S.

Yelp
This place deserves 10 stars. This was close to Harrah's and we are glad we tried it. FYI, the menu is small but it does not disappoint. Happy Hour begins at 4 we ordered mostly from the Happy Hour menu. from that menu. My husband and I shared our plates. We had the oyster salad (not happy hour), oysters on the half shell, tuna dip and pimento croquettes. I had the homemade lemonade. Everything we had was stellar! The place is cute and modern. There's a bar. The service was very good.
google avatar

Keri H.

Yelp
Great place with tasty food, kind service and nice atmosphere. Went there twice during a work trip.

Sarah H.

Yelp
10 out of 10!!! Amazing food and fantastic service. We walked in off the street having read no reviews or getting any feedback. We are local and cant wait to go back.

Andrea B.

Yelp
RUBEE is amazing! She was super attentive and gave great recommendations. The oxtail meat pie is a must try! Definitely check it out!

David R.

Yelp
Oysters: 10 Gumbo: 8.5 Ox tails pie: 8.5 Garlic Shrimp: 8.5 Wine list: 8 Small plate food for sharing. Service: 8 Ambulance: 7 patrons were very loud. Price: medium to low high

Laurie T.

Yelp
Go see Rubee!!! Everything was wonderful and we can't wait to go back!!! The tuna is as amazing as well!!!

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Love it! We stopped in for happy hour (4-6) and had the oysters, pimento cheese croquettes, and the tuna dip that were all on the happy hour menu. Our oysters were taking a few minutes longer so they brought us out the redfish ceviche and everything was delicious! Definitely recommend!

Elm G.

Yelp
This restaurant is such an experience! The drinks, food and dessert were all so flavorful and paired so well. I highly recommend Maria's Oyster and Wine bar to anyone looking for a good time with great service.

Douglas B.

Yelp
Oysters were awesome and a great deal. The menu is otherwise very limited. Was looking for a complete meal and didn't realize how limited the menu was.

Amanda S.

Yelp
My entire party left Maria's Oyster Bar and agreed it was a dud. The ambience is nice, but that did not make up for the food. The only good item were the oysters. All entrees (we got the shrimp, fish sandwich, and gumbo) were SO small for the price we paid for them! and just unimpressive. We had to get food at our second stop because we were all still hungry.

Karina B.

Yelp
This place is so so good. The curried pork cheeks were so amazing. Sauce was so flavorful and meat was cooked to perfection. Shrimp dish was also really good. Vibes were so great too! Great addition to the CBD!

R.Q. W.

Yelp
The food was good but the drinks are weak. We were asking for doubles and getting splashes. I've never been so insulted. Never again!

Amy M.

Yelp
Y'all! This place is a AMAZING! A MUST while in NOLA. We tried everything. The Raw Bar did not disappoint. Off the Savory menu the curried pork cheeks was amazing and so worth it. Especially for a few too many drinks the night before belly! The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, even with small children. Our waitress, Lennox, helped us feel at home and comfortable.

TJ C.

Yelp
Food is amazing great service. Rubee gave great service!!! The food was great and fresh.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Hands down the worst restaurant I could have booked. I am so upset that I made a reservation here. Alert alert - reserve another restaurant. Ran out of all their food and service sucked. New Orleans is supposed to be a vibe and this place does not meet that standard.

Jim C.

Yelp
Hard to imagine coming to NOLA many times and now discovering what may be the best oyster bar in the city. Xclnt. New and awesome. Also thx Lennox for the service

Valentina G.

Yelp
Rubee is the best! I have never experienced a server that had it all! She loves what she does and it shows! Food was incredible! We look forward to coming back in the near future!
