Absolutely must do, especially if dining for you is more than just food or the mix of ingredients. This place is like attraction with its open kitchen and dishes served like masterpieces.
Perfectly designed place and has a nice layout, at the entrance it can be very busy though due to the limited space, especially its the case in winter time when staff deals with people coats.
Very cosy washrooms with towels instead of napkins.
Our server was Josh, he was very attentive, polite and gentle. He perfectly knew the assortment and details on the options we were interested in.
We tried so many amazing dishes here, our favourites were
A bigger tower, sable fish, mushroom soup, crab tacos, ice cream, cheesecake
I write this review a month after I was in the place, so I don’t really remember all the dishes
There were some flaws that didn’t impact much on our overall experience, such as:
-Instead of ordered dishes we were brought entrees that we didn’t order
- my main dish was a real surprise for me, the fish was in the list of main dishes but considered For share, I guess (I still don’t understand how can you share this dish). I ordered mushed potatoes, I thought they would serve it on one plate but no. The fish was an overcooked perch on a strange pan, it ordered it to be deboned - but I still could find about 10 medium sized bones in it, and I weren’t warned about possible bones being in the dish.
- in one of the reviews that I read before coming to Marilena, I found that one person was complaining that a server was standing with his rear uncomfortably close to their faces.. I had the same feeling, the server could stand on the other side of the table that she was serving though, because the next table wasn’t occupied and it wouldn’t create the situation.
- I had to wait for 20 minutes to bring me another cocktail, I was forgotten for a bit.
I will be coming back again but maybe next time I will try their Vancouver spot
Reservations are required- the place is booked far ahead
