"Proprietor Marimar Torres, who came to California by way of Barcelona in 1975, has brought Spanish and European influences into her vineyards, wines, and tasting room at Marimar. She also has a passion and talent for Spanish cuisine, hence creating the Tapas and Wine Pairing ($55, available daily by reservation), which utilizes four tapas recipes from her own published cookbooks to pair with estate Chardonnays and pinot noirs." - Jess Lander

Google
Our group had an excellent experience at Marimar this spring! The wine was exquisite, and the food pairing was delightful! We would recommend this experience over many others in the area. Lead by two women, Marimar and Christina, this vineyard is truly inspiring!

Google
Wonderful dog-friendly winery! We made an online reservation for a wine tasting during a winter weekend. We were seated outside on the patio with a heater. The staff were very well informed about the different wines and history of the vineyard. The Classic Tasting comprised of two white wines and 3 red Pinots. The views from the vineyard are amazing and the Catalan dining room is quite cosy.

Google
We had so much fun! All the wines were so delicious. We ended up coming home with two bottles of Spanish varieties - Godello and Tempranillo. They have lots of unique varieties, but the classics, as well. The views from the patio were so beautiful. We'd love to return.

Google
Amazing service. 2nd to none with friendliness and well practiced pouring staff. Knew enough and knew where to find more info when asked. Wines were excellent - bought 2 cases to prove it!

Google
Really awesome place to visit for a wine tasting. They have a great variety of whites and an awesome selection of pinot noirs. I definitely recommend an outdoor seating with the tapas and wine pairing at the tasting room.. The Torres family are super nice and so is the staff. It's a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back. I also recommend looking in to their wine clubs for access to more of their wine selections, plus they throw in Marimar's Spanish cookbooks!

Google
Visited some family close by and came to this winery without any recommendation, was floored at how incredibly beautiful a property this is, the wines are spectacular and not just one or two- all of them; not kidding. We had a barrel tasting, became members and all because of the great service and conversation had by Frank. Walked out with more than a case of wine varieties from Chard to Cab and look forward to coming back for Marimar’s member events complete with paella and more incredible wines! Come for the wines and stay for the wealth of knowledge that is Frank Flynn; what a great dude!

Carole Owens

Google
Eric gave a phenomenal experience and made this stop the best! He would broaden his experience by going to Spain and marketing to grow the recognition of Marimar. Best ever!

Google
Picturesque winery, gorgeous scenery, friendly knowledgeable wine guides, and most importantly good wine. All of this makes for a great afternoon! I fell in love with the Albariño!

Yelp
We had an excellent wine tasting with tapas pairing here! Lauren helped explain each wine and how they paired with each dish. She was super welcoming and informative and it was much appreciated. Our favorite was the Tempranillo. Our dog's favorite was the bowl of water that was never left empty We appreciate how dog friendly they were and how beautiful the property was! Well definitely hope to come back soon.

Yelp
I sadly had high hopes for this winery, but was let down severely by the quality of the wines. Not here to bash anyone, so I'd like to start out with that note. The staff were quite kind and let us roam around the property, which is spectacular might I add. I'd suggest spending some time learning about the history of the family and property, quite interesting. Now when it comes to the wines, I've always heard they are delicious and being that most are sourced from one of the best Pinot locations on earth, it's hard for me to not love them. We started with a white wine which was good, but not my favorite of the varietals. I was honestly more eager to try the pinots, which were poured right after and that is where it went downhill. All three pinots tasted like they had been open for quite sometime and really did not pack that punch that you'd expect from the Russian River AVA. When asked, the staff said they had been recently opened, which I respected their answer. I just did not the wine attractable at all sadly, which is a huge bummer as the name carries a prestigious Pinot title in the area. Of course I'd return, but there are so many other wineries in the area that make much better wine sadly compared to what I tasted that day.

Yelp
Loved our experience. Frances the tasting room host was amazing and we greatly enjoyed his stories and meeting with him. Also met the winemaker Taylor who was a true pleasure to talk to. Really enjoyed their Albarino, the Chardonnay and Temparillo. Will definitely go back.

Alicia C.

Yelp
My husband is a home wine maker, and he has been doing some research on different varietals of grapes. We love Spanish wines. We learned of Marimar from a local restaurant, serving their Albariño. So we booked a tasting on a Monday at 11:10am. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! Lauren N. was our server and wine expert. She was knowledge about wine, the area and the varietals. We had a great tasting. The view is amazing. The wine was solid. There was one or two I did not care for, but out of the 5 we tasted we bought a case and joined the club. It was West Coast at its best. Friendly people, good wine, great views and top notch hospitality.

Christian T.

Yelp
The property and buildings are beautiful and the history of the family is interesting. The wine was good, we loved the Syrah. The overall experience was tainted by the lack of knowledge and attentiveness by our host. Long periods waiting between pours and even saw him sitting in office on his phone. They missed an opportunity to gain new members.

Gerry V.

Yelp
This winery provides a wonderful selection of wines and customer service. Friends and I had the great experience of joining Marimar on her tour of the wine regions of Catalonia. A trip of a lifetime, designed and led by wine royalty! Marimar provided an exquisitely planned and facilitated excursion. All the best of the Familia Torres wineries and others, woven with stops at premier restaurants, including a 3 Michelin Star spot! Absolutely unbelievable! Could not recommend more highly!

Doc S.

Yelp
Very poor hospitality. Don't even think about showing up without an appointment. Every excuse in the book was used to deter us from staying. He wanted to send us packing. To me, he just seems lazy.

R S.

Yelp
Enjoyed this Spanish winery very much! Great wines and friendly staff. Good stories.

Kevin J.

Yelp
I love this winery! An amazing selection of beautiful wines at great price points. Ask for a cheese plate, stay for a bit and enjoy the view. Watching birds soar at close to eye level is an amazing thing to witness. On your way out, make sure to pick up some of the local fresh eggs. So good!

Peter M.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends mid November and loved it! Zach was very gracious while still being down-to-earth in his responses to our new-bie wine questions. Also, there are several wineries dog-friendly, but this winery went the extra mile with dog statues and all sorts of cool photos of the owner and their dogs. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Our son graduated from Sonoma State University Saturday, and he decided to join my wife and and me to wine taste on Sunday. He had raved about Marimar for a long time because he has friends/roommates that had worked there. He had also met Francis (a/k/a F4) , who is the gentleman that runs the tasting room and guest services. It was a school project that seemed to be a blast. Francis was incredibly gracious in hosting us at the estate, and they even had a "Congratulations " sign at our table. Our host Eric was excellent, and the wine was the best we had all day. The estate is awesome, and I guess we missed the live dogs. The "statues" are awesome though. The names of the wine are really cool when you hear the story and have them explained. I need to go back to Barcelona.

Jessica A.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. We did the basic tasting with five wines and an extra rose. Our tasting host was new but very welcoming and personable. Great outdoor seating area where you can see the hills. We left with a bottle of their Albariño Chardonnay.

Eydie O.

Yelp
Our tasting was amazing yesterday. The winery is beautiful, our tasting host was so nice, knowledgeable and on top of it I was beyond impressed. It your looking forward a beautiful setting and terrific winery off the commercial path stop here you will be pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
I will preface this review by confessing that my wife and I have been members of the Marimar Wine Club for almost 10 years. We have been to many of the Club events and done dozens of tasting. We have mostly enjoyed these occasions and have been treated as valued members. That was not the case with our tasting today. We made our tasting reservation online (a new procedure) and showed up right on time. We were also picking up our semi-annual shipment. We'll, it was like we were not expected and just dropped in off the street. No usual warm welcome. We did get a nice table on the patio but the tasting was awkward. There did not seem to be anyone designated to pour. The kitchen staff did the honors. While they were courteous, but they were not attentive or knowledgable of the wines. Since we are familiar with their wines, we asked for a taste of one that is included in their standard tasting list. The server told us she couldn't open that wine but asked us if we wanted to buy a bottle! Well, that ended our tasting. Maybe since we are long time members, we expected better treatment. Or maybe the new online reservation system has some holes in it. Or maybe we shouldn't have come on a Monday. Anyway, it was not what we expected based on our previous experience.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! Wow, what can I say, it was such a delightful experience to taste these wonderful wines guided by such knowledgeable, sweet and enjoyable host, Perry. We arrived at the gate and were buzzed in. We started driving up the little hill up to the main house. Perry came out and met us at the parking lot already carrying 2 wine glasses. He called me by my first with a perfect Spanish pronunciation. He then took us to the cellar where they store wine cases and let us try 2 wines that were still in aging process. During this introduction he told us about Ms. Marimar Torres amazing story and how she had started the winery, grapes come from Doña Margarita and Don Miguel vineyards, these are the names of her parents. We then moved to the terrace were Perry spent well over an hour with us going over each one of the 5 wines that were included in our "classic tasting", fruity and crisps chardonnays and earthy, spice Pinot Noirs, my favorite was " Chico"s Run" We felt special today, Perry gave us his undivided attention, we received VIP treatment during our visit to Marimar. Not only we sipped to great wine sitting out in the terrace with beautiful views of the vineyard but, we felt welcome. We decided to become a wine member of this great winery, we walked out of there with our first 6 bottles packed in a bag that shares my same last name, Torres, this was the first reason why I wanted to try the wines and I was not disappointed. Gracias Perry, hoy fue un día maravilloso!

Yelp
Look for the giant dogs. And join them for Spanish tapas and pairing. The winding roads in the Sebastopol area make finding some wineries difficult. Thank heavens for the art sculptures of the three dogs on the vineyard property. Marimar is another estate that offers a food and wine pairing in the Sonoma area, $45 per person. I enjoy how the food changes the notes or flavors in the wine. And it also slows down the tasting to a more leisurely pace. No reservation was required. We walked in and were promptly greeted. We inquired about the tapas and wine tasting and without hesitation the girl says no problem. She poured us a glass of Chardonnay and explained that it would take about 15 minutes to prepare the tapas. She then led us to the veranda to enjoy the next hour plus As we waited for the food. The server came out and explained the winery some, set the table , and a nice touch was giving us the Spanish cookbooks the tapas were coming from. Albariño was paired with Patis de carbaco Cristina ( zucchini cakes). La Masia Chardonnay with gambes a l'All amb pebots (prawns in a garlic sauce with sweet red peppers). La Masia Pinot noir with farcellets de col (cabbage dumplings stuffed with pork, chorizo, pine nuts and raisins). Final pairing was not a surprise, you just knew this was going to be so delicious. A Pinot noir with higos pasos rellenos con salsa se chocolate (figs stuffed with chocolate and nuts in a chocolate sauce. All the tastes, wines and view were very good. As well as the service. We liked that three different staff members came out and talked to us about the food and winery.

Yelp
I recently went to Marimar Estate to enjoy a wine tasting with my daughter and sister to celebrate my birthday. It was actually my second time coming to this beautiful winery. Once again, we had an amazing time on their wonderful patio. The wines are some of the best in the area and the service was excellent as well. When my sister mentioned it was my birthday the staff was very generous and ensured we had a memorable experience. It was so excellent I don't believe I'll go anywhere else but there for my next celebration!

Yelp
What a gem of a place this is! Unbelievable treatment from the staff ... I have never seen such an attentive staff at any of the wineries we have visited this week...We made a reservation before showing up and we reserved the wine tasting + tapas experience. Please go for that, because it was exquisite! They paired each of our wines with a sample dish cooked from Marimar's cookbooks. We also got a beautiful history lesson and tour of the winery while being taken to our table. What a tranquil location! The staff was so kind to our children and they allowed us to try two wines that were not even on the tasting menu, but that happened to be open that day... They also gave us a taste of their olive oil and we ended up bringing a bottle home because we enjoyed it so much! So delightful! We will not only come back...we plan on becoming members! This is the only sustainable all-female lead winery in

Yelp
I was here about a month ago at the Tasting room in 'The Barlow' in Sebastopol. It's a great area for tasting, eating, and entertainment. We approached the tasting bar and Grace took care of us - she was awesome, friendly, and had a warm enjoyable attitude. Then we sat down with JR or JReed or you can call me Jordan. This guy was very knowledgeable about the wines, the Terroir (aka soil climate and conditions), and the wine making process at Miramar Torres. ALL of the Wines were Outstanding. I've known this for a long time as I used to carry their wines back in the day on some wine lists in the city - Moose's Restaurant for one. The Chardonnays and Pinots are absolutely delicious - I've loved these wines for a long time but to sit and get all of this incredible information from a JR and Grace was a treat. There are wine tastings and there are outings that inspire - if nothing else, go pick up some of these wines. DELICIOUS!

Yelp
Marimar Estate has reinforced my love for white wine At the recommendation of another winery, we came up the hill to Marimar Estate & couldn't have been more impressed - in fact, we were so much so, we joined their wine club Advised to test out their whites & having just purchased a Chardonnay from the previous winery, we knew to trust their recommendations So on came the wine flight - whites were crisp & sweet, reds were full-bodied & smooth - we brought home an assortment of each I won't bore you w/ any further wine descriptions since I'm no sommelier but I can say, as our focus of this hot day was on whites, they were a little sweet, super cold & hit all the "refreshing" notes that were needed on such a warm day - they were like drinking a smile The staff helping us took us on a tour of their estate & the place couldn't have been more pleasant - couple of nice patios & while you're not overlooking any picturesque, expansive valley, just enjoying the stonework & architecture of the building were enough for us ...& to learn they offer paella & tapas events was even better We certainly plan to learn more about these events & keep fingers crossed that they can accommodate our veggie needs Icing was the fun & funny objects d' art of puppies on the hill - reminded us of Di Rosa museum

Yelp
Great wine tasting experience! Beautiful setting, welcoming and knowledgeable staff, interesting feminist history, great tapas and great wine. Highly recommend, you will want to come back to this place!

Nate B.

Yelp
My friends and I had a wonderful tasting w/ tapas pairing yesterday at Marimar Estate. The staff was so friendly, the atmosphere gorgeous, and the wines were spectacular. I joined the wine club without hesitation! Definitely recommend for a lovely, very safe tasting experience.

Ryn A.

Yelp
By far one of the most delicious wine and tapas pairings I have ever experienced! Their La Masià chardonnay is simply amazing, highly recommended! The Chico's Run is quite good too. Beautiful view of the redwoods and coastal forest from the stone terrace. Hawks, hummingbirds, honeybees, buckeye butterlfy's, frogs, flowers and vineyards. The chocolate stuffed figs alone were well worth the drive! Thank you Sandra and Hanna for the lovely experience! R & T

Dwayne M.

Yelp
Do not make a reservation at this winery. You may like us show up and they can't find the reservation you made so they send you packing after ruining the entire day for you and your friends

Arlene A.

Yelp
Such a nice place. Love the history and the storytelling while wine tasting. My favorite was Bonita Ppl were nice There's a lot of cute spots to take pics

Jody S.

Yelp
Horrible hospitality. We were told our dog wasn't allowed because the outdoor area was closed. When we came back in from putting her in the car we stood around for a good 5 minutes while the woman who immediately got up to tell us our dog wasn't allowed sat there and the other woman working talked to one of the two other patrons who were there. Finally, the woman behind the desk got up and asked if we wanted to to stay. If she wanted us to be there she wouldn't have waited to ask us and would have made sure to make us feel welcome. She was very confrontational about whether or not we wanted to stay. We told this story at the next place we tasted and they us horror stories that they'd heard about Marimar. There are dozens of more hospitable tasting rooms within a few miles. Go to any of them.

Diane N.

Yelp
We accidentally found this place after a recommendation from a couple at lunch I am so glad we decided to start our wine tasting at Marimar. Tara was a hospitable and knowledgeable sommelier. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday and Tara helped making the event special. We will be back for sure. Dianecita from San Jose.

Gail U.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience. We made a reservation and, the day before our appointment, a member of our party phoned to confirm the appointment. Nobody returned our call. We went to Marimar at our appointment time and were told there was no reservation. While the website says "we will make every attempt " to accommodate you, NO effort was made - and no response when we asked why no one returned our call.

Yelp
Prego, prego! L'acqua fa male e il vino fa cantare e Cane amichevole. ¡Mi español no es bueno!

Dean d.

Yelp
Just amazing! Outstanding wines and wonderful hospitality on a beautiful site. (And great wine club!)

Rich M.

Yelp
We love Marimar Estate Vineyards. We first discovered her in 2010 when we heard of this Spanish winery in Sebastopol. We checked it out and with the tasting at that time we were served some lovely tapas. We were hooked. Marimar is a wonderful chef and over time , we have enjoyed her Paella dinners and other events, such a the Pinot Blending. Marimar is always approachable ,very helpful and knowledgeable about the sustainable way to approach the growth of her varied varietals from Chardonnay, Pino Noir,Cabernet Sauvignon and our favorite Albarino. The winery is a little corner of Spain, specifically Catalan in Sebastopol

Yue L.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to be invited by my good friend A to a members only Paella lunch fest! Her parents are members of this winery and they were so kind to extend an invite out to my boyfriend and me. We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday. This estate is absolutely gorgeous, like something out of a storybook! Decked out in fountains, wild flowers and marble stone grounds, we spent an hour mingling in the sunny back patio where they served us delicious appetizers and endless glasses of chardonnay. The paella meal itself was exquisite and prepared by Marimar herself! She was a classy lady that spoke to us with grace and warmth during our meal. The wines we had were also top notch and complimented our meal. Love the wines here and the wonderful people and ambiance. Would def recommend a visit here if you are looking for an excellent wine experience!

Yelp
Four of us on a wine-tasting vacation, in beautiful Guerneville, and we stumbled upon this place. When I checked it out on Yelp, I found they have a check-in deal: free wine tasting with a fully paid tasting. Even better! We pull up, and it is absolutely beautiful, as are most of the vineyards in the area. Love that they're dog-friendly, and the big dog sculptures in front are great too! However, the woman pouring is surprised and clearly not happy about the Yelp check-in deal, goes to the other room and makes multiple phone calls in audible distance expressing her annoyance and surprise to others. They *did* end up honoring ONE of the deals (for the cheaper tasting of course), however, since there were 4 of us, the deal should have been for two. After this experience she clearly wasn't interested in us, giving preference to the other folks that came in. We were so happy to finish our (wildly overpriced, especially given the region) tastings and move on to other vineyards. Now, two of the four of us are bartenders in SF, I worked in the service industry for years as well... We know what service standards are. I could not believe the way the Yelp check-in deal was handled! It's clearly there on the site, I showed it to her... Really, really poor service. Not sure if our experience was unique because of the Yelp situation, or if it's because we're visibly queer or what, but ... yikes! The wine was okay, not as good as many others in the region and MUCH more expensive ($20 for a tasting of reds). We ended up not buying anything - the first time I've ever done that while wine tasting! Hard to say if my palate was just colored by the bad service though. Went to several other vineyards nearby, all of which were far better all around. I'd recommend Taft especially! Still get 2 stars for the dog-friendliness and beautiful views. It's only fair - but service and good wine are what the wine industry is about, and they blew both of those.

Yelp
This place is a lovely winery located in West Sonoma County. We scheduled an appointment and were able to get the time we wanted even though we booked it just two days in advance. When we arrived, we received great service and hospitality. We had a lovely bar tasting, and the staff member helping us also poured us their Albarino, even though it technically wasn't part of the normal flight. Marimar herself came out and greeted us and was very welcoming. They were trying to convince us to join their wine club, which didn't make much sense as we don't live nearby and were just visiting, although their Paella did sound tempting. I really enjoyed the Albarino and the Chardonnays. Unfortunately, all the wines on their regular flight list were only available as wine member exclusive. We did however get two bottles of the Albarino. They were also having a Valentine's day food and wine pairing while we were there, and I was a bit disappointed that we were not told about it in advance because I was definitely interested in it. Then again, it might have been a wine club exclusive. Overall, this is a beautiful winery with a nice Spanish style estate house. It was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures, but it was still a very picturesque place to taste some good wine.

M K.

Yelp
years gone by...I still find the wine and service here at Marimar way beyond CAL wineries...Due to my profession at UCD/UCDMC...I find the best staff are hard to keep..if one shows up when new staff are being trained one MAY experience a lower level of service...I have brought many friends to this winery and tasting room over quite a few years...some flying in from LA or other states...it is STILL the only bio-sustainable winery in the US...folks need to get a grip....

Emily S.

Yelp
We liked where the winery was perched on a hillside, surrounded with beautiful landscape. It was a spontaneous stop. Marimar is the name of the descendant front the Torres family, who I believe own the most wineries in Spain (i.e. Very successful). They have the current King and Prince Felipe of Spain visiting the wineries. I loved the family pictures everywhere, gave an immediate touch of intimacy. You choose between a $10 tasting w two Chardonnays and 3 reds or $15 for five reds. We chose the former. Tastings are 2 for 1 if you have a Visa Signature. They make four varietals of Chardonnay. The first one we tried is fermented in stainless steel, the second is oaked. I preferred the oaked one, as that's my taste, but liked that they had options for everyone's personal taste. Some of the reds I liked, some not really. My husband liked them more than I did. He tried to purchase a bottle, but that one and one other on the tasting list are for members only. We got two free tastings of wines not on the list. The patio was awesome. If we had the money I would reserve a Tapas and Wine pairing on the patio. Pourers were very friendly. The wine club turned my husband and I off. The lowest membership only offers you to bring one person for complimentary tastings , you can't pick which wines are in your shipment, and reduced Special Tapas pricing ($25) for the member and only one other person. Poor compared to most other wineries. The next level is when you can bring the typically standard 3 other people, 2 complimentary tickets to one Paella Event, the Special Tapas pricing is for 3 others, special patio seating at Marimar's house, and the option to choose if your shipment will be reds only, whites only, or both. I recommend the tasting but not the membership.

Jen W.

Yelp
What a great place! We came her right after a horrible experience at another winery, which I brought with me. The tasting room was very nice, and the hostess was very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. She took her time answering all of our questions, while also hosting a private VIP tasting (we'll do that next time). They have great wine, we joined the wine club and look forward to going back!

Jill M.

Yelp
We stopped here as our very last tasting of the trip. Only 30 minutes til close, we asked for a quick tasting and were very graciously accommodated. This is a beautiful property, in the style of a Spanish hacienda, tucked in the hills. We were seated at a patio table and brought warm bread with olive oil and vinegar to dip. Nothing about this felt rushed and we tasted some very lovely wines. The bonus smells of something delicious cooking made us agree that our next trip here needs to include the food pairings. Hospitality is such a huge part of the wine tasting experience and the people at Marimar really understand that. Thank you to them for helping us finish our visit to Sonoma on a high note!

Heather H.

Yelp
I've been a wine club members here for 3 years. They really produce some great Pinot Noir's and is what got me hooked. The building is beautiful, great service, dog friendly, tapas. Nothing better. Definitely worth the drive if in Napa.

Marlene T.

Yelp
Okay, I'm not really sure what exactly the nay-sayers are all up in arms about. All the wines here are drinkable to good. I know we all have different of styles and expectations, but I'd go as far to say that this is a comfortable place to stand and taste without all the wine country snobbery, and on beautiful grounds. It really is very rare to go to a place where all the wines are drinkable without a single terrible one. I mean when you go to a lot of other wineries with this much selection there is always at least one wine to point your nose way down at. Or like when you have to pay significantly more to just taste the decent flight over a crappier one?!! Why can't all the wine just be good? Why bother wasting resources to make it!? I have to admit while there isn't a wine in particular that really hit me, you will find one that you really like no matter when you go. I always take away a bottle. Doesn't that count for something? And the pours are more than generous often times. And notes from Kristen ... props! Delicious organic wine easily goes for a minimum of 80 dollars! Take a personal challenge everyone ... go find a really good bottle of organic pinot for $45; then we'll talk. [wink] always taking recommendations! Yes, I agree service is always a thing that should shine, but with Erin saying the servers are nice, well that's not such a bad thing either? And really how can you give a DIFFERENT spiel for the SAME winery if nothing has really changed? I mean sure, it will change for the wine, but do we expect someone to come tearing through the tasting room doing acrobatics? Okay here's the really cool thing. You have a dog?! This month Marimar has introduced Yappy Hour! Its from 4-7 pm each Wednesday. There are free organic treats for the "four legged persuasion". There are appetizers from local food vendors and a flight of wine for $10 for humans, though [don't quote me on this I was drinking at the time!] I think for this month only the flight may be free. You may want to call ahead to check on that. Regardless it is complimentary for wine club members. The $10 is recoup'd if you join. And from what the flyer says is that everyone gets a bottle of wine to enjoy for 20% off. Chico and Bonito, happy dogs of the winery are supporting the proceeds to go to canine companions. I believe this will be an ongoing event, but even so get your butt out there with or without your doggy! A truly unique and fun idea.

Yelp
We are spending the week in the Napa/ Sonoma area. Today we decided to explore the Russian river area. We heard great reviews for Marimar winery and decided to give it a try. The site was blah, we even missed it at first. We purchased one red tasting and one blend. The service was slow and the tasting experience disappointing and they weren't busy at all. The wines bottles were $35-50 dollars but tasted like $10-20. I would definitely not waste my time there.

Yelp
Having spent the entire day driving around Sonoma, we found this vineyard lacking in both presentation and in quality of wine. Considering the wines ranged from $30 to 50 per bottle, we had expected something much grander. Majority of our tastings were from the very last dregs, maybe that was the reason for their poor quality. The only wine that I found acceptable at that price range was their 1994 Chardonnay, which was very nice! If you choose to stop here, just buy the Chardonnay and skip the tasting.

Yelp
After a day of unfortunate misses my husband and I were lucky enough to have Kristin as our server in the Marimar tasting room at The Barlow. Even though we had children in tow (watching a tv show) she did not bat an eye and served us with grace. I actually work in the industry and it reminded me of something people say, "You never know who you are serving!" She walked us through the entire history of the family, she scanned tasting notes to answer all of our questions and she presented a very positive image of the winery. The wine itself was fantastic, and in comparison to some other places, maybe even under-priced. Two Chardonnays and three Pinots were served. Loved them all, bought one and then was "up sold" (but happy to be) on a Albariño that we didn't even taste! Looking forward to a visit to the estate itself. They have a tapas and wine menu that sounds fun.

Yelp
Keeping it brief...... 4 for location and setting 2 for ambiance inside..the outside is great but they will not pour there. The tasting bar area is a little reception area with a HS woodshop looking bar and overly-homaged clutter of the Owner of the winery. 4 for wine quality 1 for the half ounce pour they give you....ya..I know its tasting not drinking but really...for $15 ?????

Yelp
Two great finds in one day! Set out to try new places we'd never been, while steering away from the well known, commercial tasting rooms. Found Marimar! Our good fortune, and what a great wine tasting experience coupled with phenomenal wines. Litmus test of a great experience, did we join the wine club? Yes we did ! Samantha, our wine host was top notch, both in wine experience (a tenured sommelier) and experience in pacing and explaining a tasting experience. And the quality of the wines, Spanish in origin and influenced, equally matched the experience! Pinots, Chardonnays, and Tempranillo were outstanding. We were allowed to linger longer than expected, and had the opportunity to taste several selections that were off the posted tasting list. To emphasize, the combined experience of tasting plus the wines were 5 stars; though either individually was also 5 stars.

Yelp
Very nice winery. However, don't join their wine club - which is the only way to buy some of their wines. What a mess. I could not get my first wine shipment even though I was was charged, and their wine club manager was unhelpful and non-communicative. I will admit I was very short with them because I was charged and the shipment was never shipped according to UPS even though I had a tracking number, and I could not get any information on the shipment. Overall, I would say they were a nice place to visit, but their wine club is very poorly managed. If you join their wine club I hope your experience is better, but I would avoid it. They never apologized to me for the inconvenience, but did credit my card and we have parted ways.

Yelp
This winery is elegant and unlike most I have been to. The owner is from a Spanish winemaking family that has been in the business for 300+ years. The tasting room is housed in a Catalonian style farmhouse. It is quite beautiful and unique. There is a large fireplace and family photos on the wall. In one, the owners parents are shown meeting the British & Spanish royal families. It is like being in someone's living room with ginormous vaulted ceilings and the family coat of arms in a stain glassed window. In the center of the room facing a large window overlooking the property is a large table. The current wines are placed their with little placards indicating their prices. The winery only makes Chardonnay & Pinot Noir. Today, three of each were on the table. They were pouring one chard and two pinots today. We tried the Acero Chard, the "Cristina" pinot and the Sonoma Coast Estate pinot. They were all excellent, the Cristina being the standout. But, at $52 a bottle I had to pass.

Yelp
We decided to be members here because of their great service staff and their quality and selection of pinot noirs and Chardonnays. Working in restaurants I never joined wine clubs but I made an exception for this one. We have only been to the tasting room in the Barlow but are looking forward to visiting the winery soon. They have many great events they do every year. Consistent pinot noir from single vineyards. Even one with the same name as my wife. I'm hoping to bump up their rating once we attend an event.

Yelp
Beautiful estate and vineyards, but unfortunately the tasting room is small and doesn't overlook the wonderful views. All the wines were good. Although we only did a basic tasting, if you go, I would recommend making a reservation for a tapas + wine tasting and staying to enjoy the views. Note - they don't wave the $10 tasting fee for purchase of wine...

Yelp
Beautiful winery with lush vineyards, Spanish style building, fountain, panoramic patio, and nice wines. They specialize in Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. We booked a late afternoon Wine and Tapas -- Normally $ 35 per person, but we had a $ 50 for 2 voucher we got from the Fern Grove Inn where we were staying. Think of it as an afternoon snack and not a full meal. A little pricey, but the staff are great, the tapa items were very tasty (especially the chocolate stuffed figs), and the wines tastings were very pleasant. Plus they are pet-friendly! Great for those looking for something a little different in Sonoma Wine Country.
