Marinara Miracles is like dining in a secret Italian attic - Review - Austin - The Infatuation

"Marinara Miracles feels like the kind of place you stumble into by accident. It’s perched at the top of a creaky staircase above a dive bar, in what feels more like someone’s attic than an Italian restaurant. The reality is somewhere in between. The space is small, with a few red-and-white-checkered tables, plus an air hockey table and a TV that looks like it’s been there since the ‘70s. You’ll order your food at a little window, but the stacks of takeout containers in the kitchen hint that this spot may be more popular for delivery than dining in. Don’t let that stop you from enjoying the speakeasy-style joint before a show on Red River. It’s a fun place to load up on carbs and fried cheese over a round of High Lifes (no wine or fancy cocktails here). Just don’t go expecting a life-changing meal—the fresh pasta is a modest step above the boxed stuff. This isn’t a destination Italian restaurant, but it’s open until midnight and does a solid job of soaking up a few drinks before or after a long night. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Food Rundown Mozzarella Sticks These are hot and crispy, with cheese that could stretch across the room—everything we want in mozzarella sticks. No notes. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Roman Holiday Cacio E Pepe There’s not a lot of pepper in this sauce, and the noodles are thin and a little too soft, but it’s a pretty satisfying plate of pasta. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Simple Kind Of Ravioli Our ravioli arrived at room temperature, but the marinara sauce they’re doused in is excellent. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Lasagna Every week, Marinara Miracles offers a different weekly special—our latest version was a pepperoni lasagna, though it tasted like a pretty run-of-the-mill cheese lasagna. It’s not bad, and it’s one of the more filling things on the menu. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Nicolai McCrary

Food here is phenomenal and the staff was very accommodating. Most of their options were vegetarian, but when I asked them to add meat they had no problem with it and i highly recommend. They were out of ravioli so I opted for an Alfredo pasta with chicken and it was AMAZING! The marinara meatballs are a must-try for this place. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect for a metal bar, and I respect the no f’s given attitude of this place. They do charge a cover at the bar, but we just let them know we were just here for food and they let us in no problem. Ignore all the reviews about the bouncers and weird hours. It’s a metal bar, and a small business. Don’t be so sensitive and understand you’re in their safe space. They’re doing their job keeping judgmental people OUT! And if they want to close on a weekend to take care of personal stuff, respect small business! Overall, this place was very memorable, above my expectations, and I will be going back again TONIGHT!

So like it looked so cool and my bf and I were really digging their pasta and punk vibe, they had an air hockey table and everything! Food was a little pricey but we werent mad. We were mad however, when my boyfriend tried to ask for a soda and got like yelled at? This dude who was apparently the manager was just so aggressive and weird,, he made us stand outside to just to wait for our food. Speaking of the food, im sorry but if you yell at people at least back it up with something edible you know. food was beyond mid 😭Just dont go, we should've went to olive garden the guys there are way nicer :(

Pleasantly surprised. Went here at 7:15PM and they were very busy. We had spaghetti and meatballs and a Caesar wrap. All very good and a good value for the price. We did take out and originally ordered thru door dash and they cancelled the order for some reason. So I’d just suggest going there and ordering.

Marinara Miracles in Austin is fantastic! The pasta is fresh, the sauces are rich and flavorful, and every bite tastes homemade. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy, making it the perfect spot for a great meal. If you love Italian food, this place is a must-try!

Loved Valhalla's for a long time as a sanctuary on Red River, and food was the only thing it's been missing. The kitchens new and close to something really special - enjoyed what we had and excited for them to keep improving! Start with the bruschetta, and go nuts from there!

Google
This is a fairly low-key spot inside of the Valhalla bar. Know that the bouncer keeps the to-go orders by the front door so that you don’t need to go through the bar. The lasagna and caesar salad were delicious!

Walking into Valhalla, you don't expect to find phenomenal Italian food there. It's grimy, the walls and floor feel like its age. That's why we love it so much there - it has that Olde Austin punk, IDGAF feel that is so hard to find amongst the neon, "cutesy" bars with punny and Instagrammable signs inside nestled among a fake ivy bush wall. Upstairs of Valhalla resides Marinara Miracles. That's where the magic happens. We got meatballs and the Holy Smokin' Raviolis. We were pretty hungry and demolished the meatballs before I could get a picture. One of my biggest food gripes about Austin is the lack of affordable, good Italian food. It's either high end, or a really good, legit, decently priced food truck with a wait that takes FOREVER. Fear no more - this is where Marinara Miracles comes in. The raviolis are handmade. You can taste and feel it in the thick dough-y ness of the raviolis, covered in a white wine butter sauce. Expertly served with two pieces of garlic bread that is perfect for dipping into the sauce when done. The raviolis are stuffed with cheese, and paired excellently with a slightly acidic, light white wine butter sauce. The 4 meatballs we got were served with the perfect amount of marinara sauce (a lot). They were tender and moist, and had the right amount of "bounce". The marinara sauce was a massive winner - that red sauce you see being made for spaghetti from the recipe listed on the index card Carmy finds in "The Bear"? That's what it tastes like. Perfection. The fact that it's located in a skeezy-feeling, but home-y dive bar among the other bars trying to out-LA each other? That's the cherry on top. Come here, grab some fantastic Italian food, and get a beer or a shot of whiskey to go along with it. You won't regret it.

Located upstairs and inside of Valhalla, it's my first time here but the Brussels sprouts with the vinegar and aioli are cooked perfect , even a bit crispy. Look forward to trying the eggplant hoagie or the i Impossible meatballs next time! There's a couple tables, one could seat 6 or so but it's a bit tight upstairs sharing the space with a pool table and air hockey.

Yelp
This is our new fav pasta in Austin!! You walk to the back of the bar and up some stairs to an ordering window and get a number for them to bring the food to you! We had a pleasant ordering experience and even got to see the lady making the homemade pasta! We sat upstairs and it was comfy and cozy in a casual way! We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and added chicken, Caesar salad and cheese sticks! The pasta was so good and the sauce was very tasty, felt homemade with good ingredients! We thought the chicken was solid but probably would just do the pasta next time doesn't add too much to the dish! I would prefer a leaner chicken. We would pass on the cheese sticks next time the breading was a little thin... imo. However, would recommend the Caesar salad very good! Customizable with the dressing since it comes on the side.

Yelp
This place has been HEAVY hyped on my insta feeds, so it's been on my must try list for months. Unfortunately that was to its detriment as I may have expected too much! Pros: -hidden upstairs in a dive bar on red river (to some this is a con, but this is hella cool to me) -garlic bread (fire, you'll fill up fast on this so make sure you go with a group) -freshly made pasta -massive portions for the price (again, go with a group!) -great people working there Cons: -fettuccine Alfredo (I am a picky girl when it comes to my alfredo sauce and while theirs is objectively good.. it was not to my taste) -takeaway (ok.. so Italian food doesn't travel well and that's not on them, but there has to be a better way to package so that things can reheat well OR retain their heat without getting soggy) Overall, if I'm drinking in the area, I'll go. Otherwise, I'm sticking to my fav spots.

Yelp
Food was decent. I got the Italian sub (forgot what it was called), which was warm and tasty, the only thing was that it was super greasy. There was a pool of oil at the bottom of the plate. My friends got the pesto fettuccine which was amazing. I saw that it was fresh, handmade pasta which was really nice. It tasted good but again it was also a little too greasy. We also got some mozzarella sticks which were great and a grilled cheese with pepperoni sandwich and the chicken marinara sub, both of which weee tasty but at the same time really greasy. Definitely great for pastas over everything else on the menu.

Yelp
I really love Marinara Miracles and that they're conveniently located inside the music venue, Valhalla. They're set up in a loft that overlooks a bar and the performance stage. It's a small kitchen with intimate seating just outside the kitchen window. The sauces are magnificent. Even something as simple as angel hair and marinara is really good. They use fresh ingredients and you can tell with every bite. The portions are huge. I strongly suggested sharing.

Yelp
OMFG, OMFG, OMFG, I cannot even describe how good this place is, but I will definitely try! Every time I travel, I always ask the Uber drivers where to go, this time, I told every person I encountered about this amazing place! When you enter, you must enter thru the bar entrance of Valhalla (security is carding). Make sure you tell them you are grabbing food so they don't charge you a cover. Go around the back of the bar and then up the stairs. I was a little skeptical with this entrance, as it was a little odd. Once you get upstairs (tables around a pool table), again, a bit odd. Meh, we are already here, let's give it a whirl. We placed our order and grabbed a table. I went downstairs to grab a few beers and there was a band playing, kind of a cool little perk. EVERYTHING is homemade, nothing frozen here! You can see them hand rolling out the dough thru the pick-up window - neat! The food comes out and the smells were just AMAZEBALLS! Starter was goat cheese balls with honey and pistachios. Now let me tell you, the best balls in my mouth EVER, read into that what you want! 4 come in the order and I wanted more and more and more! Give them a bit to cool down so you don't burn your mouth, as you will want to gobble these up! My niece got the holy smokin' ravioli (which we were told sells out fast). White wine butter sauce, parmesan, and red pepper - the flavor was just melt in your mouth, awesomeness. (thankfully she shares with her awesome Aunt) I ordered the Cacio e. Pepe and let me tell you, I said OMFG no less than 12 times in 30 minutes. Every bite was better than the last. The sauce was creamy and delectable. NOW, the garlic bread, often jut a side piece, but let me say, this could've been an entrée on its own! It was so garlicky (yes, it's in the name, but it was so pungently perfect and OMFG) and it was absurdly, brilliantly, awesome! The bread (I'm thinking sourdough?) was toasted to perfection and just made this "side" stand out all by itself! If I was staying longer in Austin, I would've been back every single night and just went down the menu, as no doubt, everything is a masterpiece! Unfortunately, the smells were so damn good (and I was starving) that I didn't even think of taking a picture. I think my niece was shoveling the food into her mouth as it was being set down on the table! I told, what I assume were the owners and chefs, how unbelievably good the food was prior to leaving. It's hard to explain just how STFU the food is! I hope they understand what a gem they have! This is not a place for children, however, they do offer take out and we saw many people grabbing items to go. They do sell out, as it is freshly made, so get there early and OFTEN! This will definitely be on my list of places to come back to!

Yelp
** Uber Eats Delivery ** We didn't eat at the restaurant but can't wait to try it the next time we are back in Austin. The food was super good. And just what my souls needed after a long day of work. We went for the classics. Mozzarella Sticks: huge and tasty. Loved the dipping sauce Chicken Parm: decent serving size and the chicken was good but fettuccini noodles were a little Al dente Cacio e Pepe: my favorite. Just absolutely yummy Entrees were also served with garlic bread which was also amazing. All in all- very good.

Yelp
Simple and sweet. This was one of the three best pasta dishes I've had in Austin. Best in a dive bar, period. Also had the meatball heroz which was delicious, well seasoned, and a hearty sub. This pasta was amazing however, and worth a stop for anyone chasing the best pasta in Austin.

Yelp
If you'rein the Austin downtown area give them a try, fresh made pasta and not a bad dish was had!! little Gem inside of Valhalla!

Yelp
Been hearing about Marinara Miracles for awhile and finally got to try them. Huge portion for the price and I ate every bite of that cacio e pepe and the included garlic bread. I'm not the biggest pasta fan but I'm sure I'll be back. Pretty fast, too!

Yelp
Hidden upstairs inside Valhalla. AMAZING and hit the spot. No words - must check it out if you haven't. Closes at midnight.

Yelp
We placed an order online and saw the good reviews, so we drove to the place and could not find it via Apple Maps. Drove around and around. Tried to call and the number is no good. This is a scam and I'm out the money. Thank you for nothing.

Yelp
Interesting ordering process, but the food delivered!! It was tasty and fresh, plenty of food for the money. Ordering was at the back of a bar, unique but efficient enough.

Yelp
I was town with my family. My kids were craving cheese sticks and pasta. I found this place on yelp and decided to head over. We were surprised the learn that the place was a bar with a stage for live music. Luckily we arrived early so the place was pretty quiet. After a few odds stairs from the bartender, we made our way upstairs. You ordered from the window and were surprised to see the staff preparing fresh pasta from scratch in the kitchen. We order the cheese sticks, spaghetti and breadsticks. The staff upstairs were super friendly. The food was really good and fresh. We wanted the ravioli but they had ran out. We ate and hurried out. Great place, I'd come back without kids for sure.

Yelp
Still awesome and still delicious. Easily the best food on Red River and it's in a rad dive bar. What more could you want? There cheap beer and chicken parm subs. Also, the fried ravioli is awesome. The food is better than most of the stuff they're peddling for three times the price elsewhere.

Chris H.

Yelp
Excellent fresh pasta place hidden upstairs in a bar/music venue. Will return every time we come back to Austin!

James C.

Yelp
Best chicken parm in the city. Fight me about it. I have never had a single item from this place that wasn't 5/5

Yelp
Wow, the best surprise I've had in austin and I've lived here for 3 years. Absolutely mesmerizing homemade pasta that left me wanting more, so I ordered another dish right after. Do not miss out on this place

Marc C.

Yelp
I tried to go on a Sunday but they were out of ravioli. Then tried again the following Thursday and they were still out of ravioli. ..At the hand-made pasta restaurant. They had sheets of pasta laying out on the table. I ended up getting the chicken Parmesan over fettuccine (they still had that in stock I guess) and some meatballs with marinara. For a place with "marinara" in the name, this was some pretty bland marinara. The food was pretty bland overall and the meatballs were very mealy. 3 stars because the pasta was cooked well.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Marinara Miracles is outstanding. Not only is their food amazing but they are incredibly friendly and have incredible specials every week. They make some of the best (if not THE best) pasta dishes in Austin. They also always have great vegetarian options and their portions are perfect! Get a drink and have a 5 star pasta dinner at Valhalla, one of the best bars in Austin.

Chemradery O.

Yelp
Apparently I'm the first review, so I'm leaving 5 stars so I don't start their reviews off at a 3 but I would only say, to name your place "Marinara Miracle", I would have expected the marinara sauce to be top notch. It was too thin/watery and needed a little more salt for my liking. Surprisingly the ranch was a little watery too! Could just be my preference, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt
