Located just steps from Bryant Park, Mari.ne is a vibrant handroll bar blending Korean and Japanese flavors, offering a cozy counter experience and satisfying rolls like fatty tuna and crab in a casual, pastel-green setting.
"Mari is wonderful, but a meal there costs more than a round-trip flight to Miami. If you need something more practical, Mari.ne is the perfect alternative. It’s from the same people, in a narrow, pistachio-colored space near Bryant Park. The setup is casual, with a single bar lined with low stools, and the brief menu is centered around handrolls with a mix of Korean and Japanese influence. Get a set starting at $25, or just choose a few, like the creamy crab salad and seared wagyu that’s sweet as bulgogi." - neha talreja, bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick
"For a quick bite of caviar, try a sushi spot. There are many places around town where you can get your roe piled on a piece of nigiri, or, in the case of Mari.ne, inside of a handroll. Grab a stool at this casual Midtown counter from the people behind Mari, and, for $28, enjoy some warm rice, fatty tuna, and caviar wrapped in crisp seaweed. That particular handroll won’t make much of a dent in your hunger, but you can supplement with a few of the other Korean-inspired options that run around $6 each." - bryan kim
"A half-block off Bryant Park, Mari.ne is a bright, narrow restaurant where you can sit at a counter lined with low stools and grab a quick bite. The pastel green spot, from the folks behind Mari, specializes in Korean-influenced hand rolls, with options that include scallop, crab, and confit spicy tuna, as well as a few vegan varieties like yuba and soy bulgogi. Aside from a fatty tuna roll stuffed with salty bubbles of caviar, the food isn’t especially memorable, but it'll scratch any itch for relatively affordable raw fish. Expect to spend around $50 per person, and make a reservation if you don’t want to wait. photo credit: Dan Ahn photo credit: Dan Ahn photo credit: Dan Ahn" - Bryan Kim
