Mariscos México - Review - Downtown - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The seafood tacos at this stand are tasty, like the simply fried cod, the nut-crusted halibut, or our favorites, the Acapulco shrimp (which involve marinated shrimp topped with mango salsa and a creamy sauce). Just remember to bring cash with you." - Aimee Rizzo

I work nearby, but had never eaten at this spot cos the half-filled in menu and what they listed as $11 for 2 tacos put me off. But turns out that I’ve been missing out because the fish tacos are extremely tasty and you actually get a lot of food (they come with a generous portion of rice & beans).

Carmen Murray

Google
If you like tacos and you like seafood and you want seafood tacos, go here. So damn good! I've eaten here a hundred times and I've never been disappointed! I can't believe I've never left a review. If they are busy it can be a little slow, but totally worth the wait. My favorite taco place in the Market by far.

Melinda Muyargas

Google
This place was recommended online, so we were surprised to find that there were no other customers when we arrived around 10:30 or 11am. We had the favorite shrimp tacos, and they were DELICIOUS. Definitely one of the tastiest savory foods we had at the market. Only complaint was the price...I think it was $9. But for two tacos, and now comparing it to the other prices at the market, I guess that's not terribleeeee.

Steve Heck

Google
What a great find in the market. Made to order seafood tacos. The Acapulco shrimp tacos were amazing. Sweet and spicy marinade pan fried shrimp with a mango jicama jalapeño salsa on top garnished with avocado. Two tacos stuffed for $9. The mahi mahi tacos looked great as well. Will try those next time.

Google
This taco stand SHOULD have a crazy line, all the time. It's that good. I think it just hasn't been discovered yet. Lucky you. Get ready for the best shrimp taco of your life friend. Tiny nitpick - the taco shell isn't the five star experience that the insides are. But that's a minor point. Bite into the shrimp (or the fish) and you'll see. You'll all see!! Mwah ha ha. Sorry, I'm mad on taco power.

B Spehl

Google
It was ok. They were very slow. Didn't have (out) avocados.. weird.

Teresa

Google
Cod fish tacos were amazing! Some of the best I’ve ever had!

Google
One of the best in town to serve fresh tacos loaded with sauce and toppings. Fresh fish, cod is my favorite.

Yelp
I'm surprised to see so few reviews here for being at Pike Place Market. If you're looking for healthy fish tacos, consider stopping by this stall which is next to DeLaurenti's. The staff was nice enough to let me mix and match so I got one mahi mahi taco and one cod. Portions are huge and after eating them, I didn't feel overly weighed down by oil so it seemed pretty healthy. I like to eat my food right away so here's a pro-tip. After you get your food, head in the direction closer into the market and take your next left. There is a public eating area in front of Atrium Kitchen and below Pasta Casalinga so you can enjoy your fish tacos right away!

Yelp
Got the Mahi Mahi fish tacos (wanted salmon but they were out because we went 30 mins before closing oops). Served quickly and the quantity was great - two filets per taco, super filling! Biggest downside was the flavor. The fish was marinated in lots of pepper and not enough salt so it was hot but lacked taste. I liked the cream sauce but nothing special! Would try other places for fish tacos.

Yelp
Doing a food crawl through Pike Place, Mariscos Mexico caught my friend's attention and we stopped in and got an order of Cod Fish Tacos to split (it comes with 2 tacos). Maybe because I'm from California and have had great fish tacos, this place was really disappointing for me. The first thing I noticed when we got the order was that the tacos were drenched with sauce. If the fish stands out, you don't need a lot of sauce/seasoning. The flavor of the sauce and toppings overpowered the fish by far- it was all I could really taste. When I picked at the fish to see how that was, the fish didn't seem the freshest and I didn't like their breading. The breading wasn't crunchy but more grainy/mealy, I didn't care for the texture. With so many other great places to eat in Pike Place, I ate about 2/3 of my taco and tossed the rest- there are definitely better places to use my calories at Pike Place!

Yelp
Was looking for a quick bite before heading to aquarium. Found this spot at Public Market. They were not too busy. Service was quick. Got some fish tacos. Tacos were delicious. The salsa definitely had a kick, but thoroughly enjoyed!

Rika M.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious fish tacos, made to order, generous portions! We will be back. Gluten free knowledgeable.

Yelp
One of the best fish tacos I've had in quite a long time. Everything was made to order and tasted amazing. The Mahi taco was really out of this world. Gotta try if you're in Pike Place.

Fred R.

Yelp
I went by Mariscos in Pike's Market a few months ago and got a tasty portion of beans with two soft taco shells for under $3. I want to return next time I'm in town. It looks like a good place to get a quick, decent, and low priced meal, like a quick lunch or more.

Yelp
Five star fish taco! This tiny stall in a side corridor in Pike Place Market made two of the best fish tacos I have ever had. I ordered the Mahi Mahi fish taco which was blackened and served with jicama mango salsa with red onion and a spicy chili crema. Super fresh...nice balance of flavors and it had quite a kick. Hubby had the Lime Tequila Mahi taco with avocado and tomato. Tasty without the spice of the former. Do not be put off by the minimalist set up at this stall. It is quite clearly authentic in every way. Portions are ample so you can count on one order as a meal.

Yelp
Looking for a quick bite while exploring the pike place market, I came across mariscos mexico and ordered two cod fish tacos. They came out fast and the lined moved really quickly for ordering and paying. The tacos were just okay. They were covered on Mayo / spicy sauce and that was pretty much everything I could taste. The fish was not super tasty and the seasoning coating was not really flavorful. It is just okay and slightly over priced for the quality of food that you get .

Yelp
Great Mahi Fish Tacos and the homemade pico was excellent. The pico is a combination of Jamaica, mango, cilantro and red onions. It is outstanding with the Crema. Small place that's family run and never disappoints. Cash only but the very large servings come for $9.95.

Yelp
3.5 stars The Tequila Lime Tacos - the fish was meh. There was a lot going on in this taco. I love flavors as long as I feel like it's not trying to cover up the flavor of the meat. This is what it seemed like to me. The flavor was overwhelming. Cod fish tacos - ok, the fish was actually better. I could taste the cod. This was better than the tequila lime tacos although I removed the queso fresco because #Lactose.

Yelp
I don't even like shrimp and the shrimp tacos were too die for!!! Yummy! Fun stop in Pike's Place!

Yelp
So far the best fish taco you would ever find in PikePlace/ Seattle!! The price is affordable the food is the bomb! I always get the Mahi fish tacos and they always taste mucho delicious:) I'll go back again for sure!! The lady & the guy who works there are the sweetest and very kind Thank you so much for being awesome and make my tummy happy every time I go there!! Keep it up Mucho gracias

Yelp
This place was pretty tasty and conveniently located! I was unsure if the proper covid protocols were in place based on what I saw, but I enjoyed my meal regardless. The service was not super fast, but the tacos were great once I got them! I tried the tacos with tequila sour cream and I really enjoyed them! They had a unique flavor and I could really taste the tequila in the sauce, but I'm not complaining.

Yelp
If we weren't im Pikes Place eating different bites at every place that we could, we would have ordered at least 4 different sets of Tacos after tasting our first one. We got the Acapulco Tacos and they were seriously burstin' with flavor! The sweetness from the Mangos were offset with the great sauce that had just enough kick that the flavor lasted in your mouth for 10 minutes later. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the crunchy bites of (I think jicama) made each bite just delightful. They were so well balanced, notoriously sloppy and messy and st the way we would want a taco. Seriously a home run with this Taco. So delicious! Had we had enough room in our tummies, we would have tried the cod as well. Thanks for the great service, and just a heads up, they were only accepting cash, so be prepared.

Yelp
Had the fish tacos and it was ok. I have definitely had better tacos than this before. The service was good. Basic tacos in a fantastic area. Overall, Tacos 3/5 Service 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Price 2/5

Yelp
Loved the tequila lime fish tacos! Prepared fresh right in front of you and the guac and chips were homemade and delicious. Loved the flavors and the fish was divine! Make sure to have cash on you!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Earlier this year, Mariscos Mexico replaced sandwich maker, Zaccagni's in the food stand space next to the front entrance of DeLaurenti's at Pike Place Market. This has to be one of the smallest eateries in terms of square footage at the market. Given the size of this spot, it does limit the proprietors of this space in terms of what they can make and how fast it can be made. Mariscos Mexico's offering of seafood tacos makes some sense. There are a couple spots offering Mexican food, but not seafood as a specialty. This spot seems to fill the void for marketgoers who are looking for fish tacos, rather than standard Mexican or preferring something less heavy than fish and chips. As far as food at Pike Place Market goes, this is one of the more affordable options. Everything on the menu is under $10 and most items are $7. I decided to give the cod tacos a try. As I mentioned before, the space is small so you can see your meal being made here. There isn't any seating here as this is strictly a to go spot. However if you walk down the hall, turn left at DeLaurenti's market entrance and walk down that hallway, you will find a large area full of tables to enjoy your meal. The tacos were okay. There are two tacos in an order. Fish portion is kind of small and there is a lot of cheese and sauce doused on top. The beans and rice were pretty standard. This meal won't wow you, but it will fill you up alright. Mariscos Mexico is a decent food option at Pike Place Market given the price and focus on seafood tacos. Though if I really wanted seafood, I would probably get fish and chips instead. Even though Seattle is a seafood city, I feel like fish tacos is something that this town just doesn't get right.

Yelp
Mariscos Mexico is a small little food stall at Pike Place Market....its across from the news/magazine stand that is up front as you enter the market area. Its next to Delaurenti's, Saffron Spice, and a mixed nuts place. No line as we came by around noon, the lady at the counter was super nice, friendly and helpful with any questions with the menu. They cook everything to order so its takes a few more minutes than usual, but its worth the wait. I decided to get the grilled fish tacos, you can get a choice of mahi mahi or salmon. Comes with 2 tacos, a scoop of spanish rice & black beans, all for about $8. Not a bad deal and totally hit the spot for a quick lunch. Fresh grilled fish which was super flavorful, nice jicama chunks with a mango salsa and a light crema on top.....muy delicioso! The menu is mainly seafood tacos from grilled/fried fish tacos, to shrimp tacos.....hence the name Mariscos which means seafood. duh! They also have a few salad options, with chips & guac/salsa as well. Great quick lunch in a busy Pike Place Market.

Yelp
Incredible fish tacos!!! Made to order and fresh, loved this place and would highly recommend.

Yelp
The line was short -- not sure if one person ahead of me constitutes an actual line but there it is -- yet I had to wait quite a while for my fish tacos. As my mind wandered while standing in the almost nonexistent line, I decided that if there was a fire nearby and I had to save an adorable puppy, I would valiantly leave this taco line to save the puppy. After I got my tacos, I had to re-think the answer to that question. Sorry, adorable puppy, but these fish tacos were really good.

Yelp
Surprised to find this little gem at the Pike Street Market! We were on a food tour of Seattle and made a stop here. The owner was there to meet our group. She offered us each a fish taco to sample. Oh my gosh! The fish tacos were soooo good! We will have to go back for more! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Update: the mahi mahi tacos are also amazing. The chips and salsa also taste home made. This is hands down the best Mexican food in Seattle. No contest. -------- Had some Acapulco shrimp tacos here today. They take awhile to make them, but they were super tasty. The shrimp was well seasoned and slightly spicy, and the mango-jalapeno salsa was a good complement.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down best fresh seafood tacos you will find in Seattle. Dont even bother trying other places. The family who owns this place is very kind and they will feed you tacos like you're a guest to their house. Very authentic and freshly made. The kitchen and countertop (where u pick up your food) is kept clean too, which is hard to find in the Pike Place market shops.

Adrinne O.

Yelp
Ask for the camarones a la diabla but make sure to say you want them extra spicy, they were delicious!
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
They're pretty new, but don't underestimate the quality of the food here! I thought $7 for two cod fish tacos was pretty reasonable, but it also came with beans and rice! Even better. It's not stated on the menu, which was a nice surprise and perfect for a quick meal to go. The pico de gallo was also to die for. So fresh! I don't know if it's because they're new, but the owner is so so nice as well (: If I have the chance to revisit the market in the future, I will definitely stop by again.

Yelp
Cod fish tacos changed my life!!!! Delicious! The woman running the place is a boss. What a pro!

Yelp
Amazing tacos for a quick lunch on the go. I had the fried cod - comes with two tacos and rice and beans. More than filling for $7! I even had some left over, which we brought home for snacking later. The food stand is located by DeLaurenti's and the magazine stand. Simple order at the counter and wait for your tacos to be prepped, which with no line at lunch hour was a breeze - no more than 7-10min. We took our food to sit in some public seating by Pike Place Chowder. The tacos themselves were just what we were looking for. Simple, no nonsense ingredients, and so tasty made to order. Fried cod was lightly breaded and done in the fryer, well-seasoned and light. Paired perfectly with the hint of heat in the chipotle cream sauce and a bite of acidic freshness with the pico and lettuce, then topped with crumbled queso blanco. Rice and beans were a nice surprise as I didn't know they came on the side. Simple, but good. Rice was flavorful. Worth it for a quick bite if you're strolling the market.

Aubrey D.

Yelp
Their cod fish tacos are AMAZING. Made fresh, and the seasoning and toppings are so crispy and well-balanced. This place is GREAT!!!
google avatar

Reina A.

Yelp
I love this place! Everything I have had here is delicious. It is a frequent lunch spot for me. I'm particularly fond of the cod tacos. The salsas and cremas are perfectly complimentary. They really nail the combo of sweet, spicy, crunchy! The fish is so flavorful and always perfectly cooked.
google avatar

Gene U.

Yelp
The Calamari Salad was delicious. The chef fried the squid for the perfect amount of time. The batter was crispy and the squid was tender. The salad greens were good but would be nice if the greens were smaller. I was there when they were closing so I had plenty of time to chat with the chef. She's a very nice lady from Mexico. She recommended other items from the menu for the next time I visit.

Spencer H.

Yelp
Deserves every star. Best deal/food in the market!
google avatar

Kendal K.

Yelp
Authentic, GOOD fish tacos are hard to find in seattle feels like. There's plenty of the beer battered variety, but these fish tacos are legit. Lots of crema, veg, and I'm pretty sure you could get nut-crusted fish instead of fried? The woman cooking behind the counter was super sweet and called me pet names. Will definitely be back. Price point is worth it to go just 20 feet into the market!
google avatar

Vijay S.

Yelp
Really sweet lady that runs the place. Just got the chips and salsa for 2$ along with guacamole for 3$. The salsa is slightly spicy, made of red pepper I believe. Guac was really good. Got a free sample of the Jamaican flower water/hibiscus water which was good as well.

Maria R.

Yelp
I love, love, love this place. I'm from Mexico City and this is one o my favorite spots to go to when I feel homesick, food is delicious and the service is great.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried Mariscos Mexico for the first time today after walking past it time and time again in the market. I'm kicking myself for not trying it before. They had a variety of options so there is something for everyone. I tried the tequila lime fish tacos. It was a good size portion (two tacos) with black beans and rice. The fish was lightly cooked, tender, and flaky. I loved the crunch from the cabbage, fresh pico, a nice slice of avocado, and a generous drizzle tequila lime cream. All of the flavors came together so nicely and it was clear that each element of the dish was handled with care and precision. Last but not least, the price wasn't half bad. If you are in the mood for fish tacos, look no further.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Fantastic fish tacos. I had grilled Key Lime tacos with grilled halibut with spanish rice and black beans. Great flavor with a good mixture of pico, slaw, avocado and, of course, fish. The portions are a bit small - the rice and beans were probably only a few spoonfuls - but two fish tacos and two side items is a good deal for $7. It's a little off the beaten path since the guys throwing the fish around get all of the attention, but definitely worth checking out.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh man! They make a MEAN cod fish taco! YUM! :-D They're a tad on the pricy side (coming out at about $3.50 per small corn tortilla taco), but they DO make up for it with tastiness. Wait... did I say "a tad"? No, that's freaking expensive. For the price, they lose a star with me. :-/ They also lose a star for charging an extra 50¢ if you want to pay with credit. Seriously, that's price gouging. It's nickeling and diming like that, that leaves a sour taste in customers mouths ... which is worse since they're catering primarily to the market tourists. :-( Add tax to the 50¢, and with ONLY a cod taco order, it comes to $4 per taco. OUCH. :-( Hopefully they'll figure out a better price point in the coming months, otherwise I can't see them competing with nearby guitar playing mexican skeleton competition.... The 2oz of black beans and rice side, also seems like an afterthought. A solution to their problems would be to ditch the white take-out boxes, beans & rice, and serve the two tacos on a paper plate, or rolled in a piece of tin-foil. Then they wouldn't have to give out forks to everyone, but have them upon request. Forks are not necessary for the taco tastiness alone, and the corn tacos are traditionally a street-food anyways, so the white boxes make eating a tad awkward. It would save them MORE than 50¢ per order, and then they wouldn't have to charge for using a credit card. Looking at the other pictures posted, perhaps they just short sheeted my order for the beans & rice... Mine: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mariscos-mexico-seattle?select=F4x2CrWc72mkzF9tabbsMQ Another Yelper's: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mariscos-mexico-seattle?select=nUfRUAS9rGgU212KL_OMMw Caveat Emptor, I guess.

Yelp
They're open now during COVID with some modified hours but they're definitely around during lunchtime. Currently there's a "Cash Only" sign up, though. I got the tequila lime tacos on one occasion and the camarones a la diabla on another and both were super fresh and tasty. It was cooked to order as well. I'd recommend the taco over the shrimp, but that's just personal preference. Definitely one of the better fish tacos I've had in Seattle.

Rhonda T.

Yelp
While at Pike's Market, my husband and I were craving some great Mexican food and only found 1 place that stood out. We walked the entire market trying to find Mariscos and we were not disappointed. Maria was the only person there, cooking and serving. We ordered a single order of two fish and lime tacos and a single order of Camerones a la Diabla.. both to share. Bear in mind that this is a stand with no seating, so we had to find a public eating spot, which was just a few yards away. Everything is cooked on the spot to order and you get to watch Maria work her magic! We ate the tacos first. The fish was cooked perfectly, with the tomatoes, avocado, cabbage slaw and a squirt of lime... they were delicious! Get lots of napkins because these are very full of deliciousness. Next were the camerones... 8 LARGE shrimp cooked to perfection! I always worry that shrimp will be overdone, but that is not the case here. Maria warned us that the sauce would be very spicy and she is correct, but the spice was perfect for us. Served with cheesy black beans (awesome) and her own version of rice (delicious). You will also receive 3 piping hot tortillas to complement your dish. I highly recommend this little place for its authenticity and care for patrons and for the delicate way they treat their seafood. If in the area, please go to visit Maria and let her share her magic with you!

Yelp
Fantastic tacos, the fish is breaded and fried to order. Salsas are fresh as well as the toppings. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a light meal!
google avatar

Yelp
Skip Chipotle and Qdoba. Come here instead. Everything I've had so far is really good, and the owner is a really nice lady. I'll eventually get around to every fish-related item on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this hole-in-the-wall taco shop! It was kind of hard to find and since I'm not a local, I can't remember where to go to find it...but anyway, the fish was cooked perfectly and the pico de gallo was so fresh. The tacos were a little spicier than I would've liked them to be but the mango calmed down the spicy taste. Everything is made super fresh and you can see exactly how she puts the tacos together. Would definitely recommend!

Brandon P.

Yelp
Southern CA native here, I eat mainly Mexican food. Stopped by this place at the pikes place market while on vacation for a quick taco. I was beyond impressed by the authentic style as I was expecting something mediocre (if I'm being honest). Just wanted a taco. The depth of flavor was incredible as well. I already love this city and now have a little stop for a slice of home when I'm in town.
google avatar

LaDonna L.

Yelp
Delicious lime tequila fish tacos. Two tacos with fresh ingredients, rice and beans for $7.00. This little gem is right next to the nuts guy so you don't have to really go and dig yourself out of the market, especially on nice days. Just a quick in and out and let the tourists do their thing. If you are expecting the fish to be made ahead of time, you are going to be not a happy camper because she cooks to order. I, for one, like that but if you are on a tight schedule, you may want to wait until you can spare an extra 5 minutes. Another little tidbit is that she will only make one order at a time, so once again, if you are in a hurry just wait until you can chill for a few extra minutes. The menu is not big but the longer you have to peruse a menu, the longer you are waiting for food.

Maya S.

Yelp
Really yummy and flavorful veggie tacos. I'm excited to try the guacamole and chips because I heard they're good as well. Just remember to bring cash!

Yelp
Three life-changing words: Acapulco. Shrimp. Tacos. Perfect taste, perfect price, and perfect lunch portion. I'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Food stand in Pike's Place. I had the cod tacos and they were really good. The cod was fried just right, it is crispy without tasting too dry, the Pico de Gallo was fresh, the Chipotle mayo was real good too. Very good prices as well
