"In the parking lot of a grocery liquidator near the invisible border between East Portland and Gresham sits a neon-colored food cart that just happens to serve some of the best aguachiles in the Pacific Northwest. A cousin of ceviche, aguachile (literally “chile water”) hails from the west coast of Mexico and spends less time marinating in lime juice than its Peruvian cousin. Mariscos Tinto del Mar serves its aguachiles with ample amounts of avocado, onion, and cucumber. "Sometimes, the buzz of Birrieria La Plaza draws the attention away from this neighboring seafood cart, but Mariscos Tinto del Mar holds its own, with micheladas served with a little cup of shrimp cocktail and its skyscraper of a torre de mariscos. The cart also sells an assortment of ceviches — including shrimp and a mixed seafood ceviche — as well as a version brightened up with the addition of mango.
