Marius Et Janette has become a must-visit for me whenever I travel to Paris. This tradition started more than a decade ago during a duty trip, when my colleagues and I stumbled upon this gem for dinner. From that very first bite of the exquisite fish we shared, I was captivated. I still recall one of my colleagues describing the taste of the fish as if penning a food blog, encapsulating the freshness and flavor perfectly. Since then, whenever I have the opportunity to fly to Paris—whether for work or leisure—I make it a priority to savor at least one meal at Marius Et Janette. I feel truly fortunate to indulge in this culinary experience several times for past decade.
Last evening, we had the pleasure of dining there again. Our selection included Rock Fish Soup, Grilled Scottish Salmon with Sorrel, Sole Fish Meunière, and of course, Crème Brûlée for dessert. I recently learned that Scottish salmon is often regarded as superior to Norwegian salmon, and I was eager to taste the difference. I must say, the Scottish salmon was unbelievably fresh and flaky, truly a notch above what you typically find, as many restaurants often opt for Norwegian salmon. Marius Et Janette certainly goes the extra mile to offer the best for their patrons.
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the Sole Fish Meunière, one of their signature dishes. What's striking about it is its simplicity; it’s served without elaborate plating or side dishes. This straightforward approach truly resonates with us, as the chef aims to showcase the fish's natural flavor without overshadowing it with complex sauces or dressings. That dedication to purity is one reason we keep coming back.
While desserts are not usually what I focus on, I find myself drawn to Crème Brûlée whenever it's on the menu. Admittedly, after a few disappointing experiences with this classic dessert, I was hesitant to indulge again. However, Marius Et Janette has outdone my expectations. Their Crème Brûlée features a beautifully caramelized layer of brittle, golden sugar that yields perfectly to the spoon. The custard itself is luscious, infused with rich vanilla that offers a warm, aromatic essence dancing on the tongue. It's a divine celebration of flavors and textures that truly leaves a lasting impression.
In summary, Marius Et Janette continues to be a cornerstone of my Paris dining experiences, and their commitment to quality—from their fish dishes to desserts—ensures that each visit is memorable.
I added photos from last visit too. 🥰🥰🥰
