If you visit East Tennessee, Knoxville Tennessee or University of Tennessee please make time for a trip to downtown farmers market and come see me at Bays Mountain Soap on Wednesday and Saturday. This is a unique opportunity to experience a variety of different hand made items from 150 miles of Knoxville. Shop and learn more about the history of our “little home town”. Hope to see you at market

Always fun to wander around the Market Square Farmers Market on a Saturday morning. You can find local produce, meats, honey, breads, pasta, cookies, goat cheese, mushrooms, crafts, coffee, home made soaps, Tennessee maple syrup, donuts, roasted corn on the cob and more sweets.

A “hobby” my husband and I have is to try to visit farmer’s markets whenever we travel. The Market Square Farmer’s Market is probably the best one we have ever visited. The offerings are all top notch. There is always unusual and outstanding produce, things that you can’t find in a store. I occasionally have to ask “What is that?” And it may be a rare berry or an unusual variety of mushroom, squash or cucumber, or a type of egg I have never seen before. There are freshly made dog treats, sauces and spices, baked goods and a small amount of high quality arts and crafts. The people watching (and animal watching) here is great! You might see the cutest dogs (or cats, or goats, or a squirrel riding on his friend’s shoulder…). There is often live music or parades here. There are multiple restaurants where you can eat on the patio while watching all the goings on. We feel so fortunate to live close to our favorite farmer’s market!

Yes, yes you should go. Buying from local farmers is buying products that are grown with pride. Veggies, meats, handcrafted arts and a huge variety of restaurants. My favorite is the home-baked foccaccia and speciality garlic.

Even in the rain there were plenty of amazing booths. Some with flowers, baked goods, jewelry, fruits and veggies. The list goes on. Loved it!

So lucky to have a seasonal farmers market as amazing as this one in the heart of our city. I love to make a day out of coming. I’ll get groceries for the following week and grab a few treats along the way! Take the opportunity to speak with the local vendors and enjoy the beauty of downtown Knoxville. Side note…. If you want flowers, I suggest arriving early! They sell out fast!

⏳️Opens at 9am Closes at 1pm on Saturdays. 🚗Parking at Market Square Garage was FULL by 11am. I recommend using the Locust Street Garage, around the corner, if the MSG is full. ⛺️There were plenty of interesting vendors from arts/crafts, like wooden bookmarks, jewelry, pottery, soap/skincare and art, to grocery vendors. 🍅They had vendors selling organic goods and gluten free goods. ⛲️They have the splash pad on for the kiddos as well. Families with kids and others with dogs hung around the splash pad which is an excellent opportunity for your family/kids/dogs to make new friends.🐕 ❤️My overall experience was well. There was a very large crowd, but it was always in motion. I do not know if the setup varies by week, but they had grocery vendors near Wall Avenue & on Market Square heading towards Clinch Avenue. In-between (near the Women's Suffrage Memorial) was where you could find the arts/crafts vendors. On Union Avenue, heading towards S Gay, they had a few vendors but then at the end was mostly food truck options. 🩺Not the most Ostomy friendly. There are businesses nearby with restrooms if needed. It's very crowded and hard to get around people if you're not moving in the general flow. 🩺Not the most friendly for the immunocompromised. I recommend wearing a mask 😷 if that's your thing. I personally did not touch anything I did not intend on purchasing and did my best not to get too close to anyone. I brought hand sanitizer that I used when I did touch metal or anything else I was worried could have harmful germs. I also wore a long sleeve shirt (as it was cool that day) to use instead of my bare hands when possible.

Yelp
Market Square felt like a breath of fresh air. Nestled beside a charming park and framed by outdoor cafés, it's the kind of place that beckons you to slow down and explore. The vendors were exceptional--high-quality offerings across the board, with an abundant selection of fresh vegetables, honey, blooming flower stands and artisan booths. The relaxed ambience made it an ideal setting for a Saturday wander, and dog lovers will appreciate that pups are welcome outside the market, away from food areas. A vibrant, well-balanced space that blends community charm with open-air elegance.

Yelp
A friend of mine told me I needed to check this place out and I was hoping it was not teeny tiny like Chattanooga Market with like 10 booths. So I had it bookmarked here but the address is WRONG. I spoke with the people at the information booth and showed them the yelp page and they said they have submitted numerous times an address change. The address on here on Howard Baker was where they had it during covid. They changed it to 10 Market Square. The only reason why I know this is because I bookmarked a Facebook event and showed that to the girls at the information booth also. Anyways, I was really shocked that when I got here, this place was HUGE. There were probably around 150 tents there with so many items from fresh produce, bakery items, crafts etc. So it was like a craft fair and farmers market on steroids. I would have never known it was here if I didn't see it on facebook events. If Im in the area again I ill definitely come back

Yelp
Great farmers market with many different vendors with a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, flowers and artisan made goods. May be the best market in eastern Tennessee. Really liked the area and easy parking.

Yelp
Great little market in the heart of Market Square on Sat. and Wednesdays. A great combination of crafts, home goods, and food. Plenty of coffee vendors to get you buzzing while you peruse the tables. The majority of vendors take credit or debit, which is convenient. This was our first time attending and I will be curious to see if warmer weather brings a different vendor mix and maybe some live music? Definitely come hungry and bring a few reusable backs to carry the goods you undoubtedly will snag.

Yelp
This farmers market keeps growing! There is a nice blend of produce stalls, flower and plant stalls, and artisan craft booths. There were also five or six food trucks on hand today. It is nicely laid out and well organized.

Yelp
I could definitely see us going to this fun market on the regular if we lived in the area! We were glad that we were able to see it during our trip. As the name says, it's mostly all in the main Market Square and they have vendors ranging from baby clothes to fresh meat from local farms. I really enjoyed how they had a side street dedicated to local food trucks! If we hadn't just eaten, that Donut truck would have been my new best friend. There were plenty of trucks there and you could definitely go again and again and not eat at the same one! We took our time wondering through the main market area and looking at the vendors. I would note the local honey makers and the hand made baby clothes with fun fabrics and themes. Overall: A Super fun farmer's market that you should definitely go and see!

Yelp
Had a great time at the market today. I'd say it's half arts/crafts and half veggies/meats/foods. The location is outstanding. I love that they dedicate an area for food trucks. Beautiful flower stands! We picked up some spices and veggies. We would have bought organic meat if we were in need because it looked delicious, but we were currently all stocked up. Great Saturday morning stroll around down town!

Yelp
YUM! I love experiencing the local hubbub of a city. We were recommended to visit the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning in Knoxville and were pretty excited to see what all the talk was about. I had never felt so much love and local neighborhood friendliness. From baked goods to coffee to snacks or lunch carts, there's something for everyone. It was a little rainy out but that didn't stop people from picking out some cookies or kolaches from the baked goods tent. There were several coffee/espresso options, as well as, one of my personal favorites of the day, the fusion tamales. They were hot and steamy as we unwrapped the leaf that bundled up that spicy piece of joy. There was also a corn stall at the very end of the market that loaded up your freshly steamed corn with butter and seasoning up the wazoo. While I only took one bite, I can imagine getting my own with the works and finishing it in just a few minutes, no problem. On top of all that food, there are some crafts and locally made products that you can look into purchasing. Support your local small business!! The Market is definitely a must visit in Knoxville if here over the weekend!

Yelp
We really enjoyed the Saturday Farmers Market! This was the largest Farmers Market we've been to where they close down the streets for all of the great vendors and customers. Wow, the produce looked so fresh! Baked goods were yummy (we purchased some awesome cookies and peanut butter banana bread - omg it was awesome!!). Lots of varieties in vendors - potters, bakers, farmers, pet accessory folks, butchers? and misc. art vendors as well. Oh and as we continued to walk and walk and walk, we noticed a few food trucks. So cool! The vendors were all very friendly and the crowds were bearable. We will definitely visit the Farmers Marjet again on our next visit to Knoxville!

Yelp
Its a local staple event on Wednesdays that you must try at least once. Not big enough to go to every week. I bought zucchini pecan muffin and some tamales that were amazingly good!

Yelp
I cannot believe I haven't reviewed the Farmers' Market yet. This is one of my favorite things about Knoxville. The Wednesday market is a smaller event, with multiple produce, meat and other vendors, but confined to the square itself. One can easily shop the whole thing during a lunch hour, grab lunch as well, and a plant or some flowers for your desk. Produce varies as the season progresses, but there is plenty to choose from. There are also select craft or gift vendors. The Saturday market is a thing of glory. It sprawls from Market Square for blocks in each direction. You can buy all the things above, plus there are multiple bakeries, honey vendors, more cheese sellers, more crafters, more jewelry, a wonderful natural remedies booth, pet treats, pottery ... you name it, you can find it. There are food trucks and drink sellers to sate your palate while you shop. And the season is long, May - November. It can get crowded and too many stroller pushers seem intent on running over other pedestrians. Sometimes a dog gets feisty, but it's small price to pay for such a quality market. Come early. Parking can be challenging. Especially on a game weekend.

Yelp
This was a nice set up area with all kinds of vendors and fresh farm food. Including vegetables, fruits, grass fed beef, chicken, lamb and so much more. We bought some soap as I always look for it at these events. We definitely enjoy local made and crafted products. They are there every Saturday so check them out!!!

Yelp
I love Knoxville's farmers market! I've been a lot of places ...and you know...I really think we have the best farmers market out there. We have such great farms and products so everything is top-notch. And it's small enough that you really come to know your local farmers and artisans and even...our local musicians. Ever loyal, I only get my tomato plants here from my farming gals (I'll never tell). Yup, we'll turn you into a green thumb by the time you leave. Cuz if you are looking for the freshest fruits, vegetables, honey, jams, teas, cheeses, and meat ...well...this is literally as fresh as you get. And wow...the fresh cut flowers here are gorgeous! The bakers bring out their cookies which you won't resist with the fresh java. Oh man, the line of food trucks and eateries makes it hard to pick your breakfast nosh. Compared to other places...I'll pass on those 3-block long markets that are way too big and those commercial air-conditioned markets. Knoxville's doing it right. Right here on Market Square.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised when I wondered into the Market Square Farmers' Market. It was right by my hotel and the concierge recommended it, so I thought "why not?! I have a few hours to waste until I need to get out of here."...and a good decision it was. This is a decent sized farmers market in the heart of Knoxville. They have a great variety, from your usual fruits and veggies, to baked goods, to handmade knick knacks. Although it can be a bit crowded, there is plenty of room to walk. They have some entertainment/music, which was pleasant to listen to as you're walking through parts of the market. Although We didn't partake in buying any of the fried pies (um...yum!), we did get some spices and coffee from one of the food trucks. Here's how I recommend you tackle this Farmer's Market. Do a walk around first. Then go back to the vendors you identified and buy your veggies, etc. that you want. Then head over to the food trucks and sit down for some fresh made coffee and breakfast/lunch. You can easily spend an hour or two shopping around. Makes for a great Saturday morning trip!

Yelp
This is less a "farmers" market than an arts and crafts fair. Just count the booths and you come to that conclusion. Farm products are limited. I asked one booth vender why the Nashville Farmer's market had so much more vegetable and fruit products than here in Knoxville - his response was they were further south...that is not good geography. They are further west and north of Knoxville but not south. I am going to search other venues. Please do not go to this market thinking of things to eat.

Yelp
Have you ever tried to impress New Yorkers? I'm fairly certain that you could swallow fire while hula hooping in a hand stand and the only response that you would elicit is a half-hearted 'meh'. Last week at the farmers market, I struck up a conversation with a couple in town from New York. I learned that they hadn't selected Knoxville as a vacation destination, but were here to do research in Oak Ridge for a book. And though they hadn't expected much from our little city, they were actually impressed with not just one thing, but had found 2 things to blow their socks off. 1) The people in Knoxville are very nice. (Our southern charm had been on it's best behavior) and 2) the Market Square Farmers Market. The second with good reason. The farmers market has been something that I look forward to weekly since I moved to Knoxville 6 years ago. And in that time, it has grown exponentially! The number of vendors is still growing and the variety is plentiful. Grab a basket and do your weekly shopping from local farmers. Pick up treats for your 4-legged friends. Grab a flower bouquet to liven up your living room. And definitely grab yourself a delicious bite from one of the local food trucks lined up on Union. Grab a coffee from Three Bears Coffee and walk the perimeter of the market and you will run into any number of street performers ranging from magician, to musician, to stilt walker. Stop and chat with the man that plays the saw and you will quickly realize that he is one of the kindest people around. Our farmers market is a great market. Not just for our small city. It really is one of the best around. And it has something most can't compete with: a touch of southern charm. It's the kind of thing that makes New Yorkers take notice...and that's saying something!

Yelp
Great farmers' market featuring lots of local talent, including produce, baked good, art, clothing, and more. Easy to walk on flat streets and sidewalks, parking nearby, incredibly pet friendly, and friendly vendors, too. I visited this outdoor farmers' market on a Saturday in June. Of course it was a little hot and muggy that day, which is why I hit up the market at 8am to beat the heat. Even that early, it was busy; the wide street they close for the market was already full of shoppers, vendors, and dogs. Lots of people bring their dogs, and I love it. Almost all the vendors are locals to the Northeast Tennessee region. There seemed to be a good mix of people selling produce, baked or canned goods, art, clothing and jewelry, and a few selling services. My favorite was finding a booth filled with apples I had never heard of before, along with apple butter and hard apple cider. I grabbed two of everything. This is a great market to visit almost any time of year. Wear comfortable shoes; it covers about a three block area. Come early to avoid the summer heat and get the best products before they've been picked over. Bring a solid cloth bag to hold everything, or you can buy some at the information booth in the middle. TIP: There is no parking on-site, however there is plenty of parking from garages and parking lots along Gay Street (one block back), the visitors center (two blocks away), and the parking garage at Clinch Avenue and Locust Street, just two blocks from the end of the market.

Yelp
Like Knoxville, this farmers market isn't too small or too big; it's just right. Produce, crafty things, and food trucks. Just enough to keep me busy for a couple hours. Go hungry and eat while you shop. It feels like part of and works right into the fabric of downtown. One minute you're shopping. The next you can be relaxing at Krutch Park or strolling through the Artist Alley. And if you have brunch at one of the many restaurants on Market Square, you can watch all the people the market brings downtown. (But not so many people that it's a madhouse. Like I said, just right.)

Yelp
I always go back for more, my kids love it and I can go to many shops in one day without the driving crazyness

Yelp
I go to the Market Square Farmers Market religiously every Saturday May-November. It is my happy place! Lol. Veggies and art and babies and music and food trucks and honey and booze and dogs and my ferret. He is the center of attention every week. It is places like this that make Knoxville such a beautiful city to live in. I am proud to be a part of the culture and community that exists here.

Yelp
I spent the first twenty years of my life working on my family's farm and have been wanting to patronize the Market Square farmers market. So I had the chance to slip away from work this last Wednesday and purchase a few things. The corn tasted of mold and the watermelon was overripe and mushy inside. The beans were OK, but overpriced from what I can get at my usual grocer, who does provide local produce. Perhaps the fruits/vegetables are fresher on Saturday.
